Might be a voltage dropping low due to a fault.

I went ahead and turned in an RMA request, but I’d rather work it out than mail it in. But I’ll do what I need to to have a perfectly working laptop.

It could be instantaneous so could be very hard to spot even with proper equipment. If it's dying mid use it needs to go back.

Well, I got an RMA started, so it begins. Hopefully we can get it worked out fairly quick. Thanks Meaker!

I did some tweaking with this guide here and Win10 is telling me ~4 hours of battery life. Pretty good. Although according to that guide if the C3% Package C States in ThrottleStop is very high on idle then something is wrong with a driver or something. On idle my C3% is about 50 with C7, C8 at 0.

Also on battery I'm stable on -75mV. Plugged in I can get -100mV. I think this is expected.

Well, it’s gonna have to come back to y’all. The tech had me try pushing the Fn+F12 button to make sure it wasn’t going into Sleep. It went black again today after I left for work and the Fn+F12 did nothing.

I hate this more than y’all, I can tell you that. I love this machine so far except for this little problem.

This is my first post, so hi :) I'm interested in purchasing the Key 15 for audio production tasks. Can anyone share the experience how loud the fans turn in tasks that are CPU hungry but mild on the GPU? (Though the Schenker fan curves might be different from other resellers I guess...)

BTW this is the only video review of the chassis I could fond. Anyone else have any luck?

So i received my PC50 with an RTX 2070 max q on Friday. Had some testing do and I recognized 2 extremely annoying things.
First a loud humming while fans spinning average to fast. So I don't mean the fan noise itself but it is accompanied
with this humming which might come from 2 parts pressing against each other. checked all the screws of the fans, chassis etc and could not find a loose one.

The other problem is a vibrating keyboard when the fans are on. Typing on it or using it while gaming feels like typing on a massage chair.
Is this a typical thin gaming laptop problem?

So does anyone of you face similar issues?

Nope ! I usually have it in entertainment mode on CCC and Windows 10 Balanced profile, it keeps pretty cool. The only time I even notice the fan is when gaming but even then it's not loud at all.

    Similar here.

Laptops 'idling' running 2 work VM's fan is only slightly audible between 10-30% on around 50-55C.

Got the Metabox (AU) PC50 with 2070Q.

Running games does crank the fan up, but not too bad.

Also thank you for your response. I got my unit from Obsidian, mostly due to their customized bios and their good reputation (at least John's). Glad to hear for you 2 that your machines work like a charme which makes me hoping that mine could achieve the same. Just sent it back so maybe they figure the problem out.

Hmmm, does this sound plausible? I didn’t think the quiet power setting would cause the computer to go completely unresponsive. Additionally, I didn’t think the fans were completely shut off on quiet mode, so that’s my bad. I thought they just ran at very low rpms.

Keep in mind, I’m not complaining and am happy with y’alls customer service, just really surprised it didn’t go black on your techs. Thinking if y’all let it run overnight, it would’ve done it, but I don’t know how much time you have to do that.

I’ll run it in “entertainment” when I get it back and hopefully that does fix it. If it does, I’ll certainly report back to you and possibly on my RMA ticket. My goal is for it to run a solid week with no hiccups.

I'm looking into the Metabox version of this baby, but was a bit disappointed to discover that they only provide the 80W version of the RTX 2060 (whereas other models go up to 115W).

Do we know if it's possible to OC the 2060 to get up to the higher spec?

So I'm trying to tame this beast. Should I have both Turbo Boost Long and Short checked to limit the power at 45 / 90 W? Should I enable clamp? Should I shorten the turbo time limit? 45/90 seems pretty reasonable if I limit the turbo ratio.

I've been able to lower the temperature significantly (90C and lower) by setting the Turbo Ratio Limit to 3.4 (web browsing, office work), 4.6 (photo/video editing). When gaming I just switch profile back to get the turbo to max performance even though there wasn't a huge difference in firestrike when limiting the Turbo Ratio to 4.6.

What do you want to do? It could be more interesting to raise long TB to 52 or so and completely disable short TB. Sudden temp spikes are mostly due to short TB.

Oh I was under the impression that disabling the short TB limit would mean that there would be no limit. I'll disable it and try it out. Then will raise the long TB.

It would be nice to have all temps stay below 90C. Thanks!

Just put the same number in short and long, start from 45 and raise it until you've got a good balance between temperature and performance.

Every machine has that perfect balance for voltage/frequency/temps for 24/7. That balance changes from machine to machine and user to user.

    Hi guys,

anyone with the OLED samsung 4K display (PC50) ?

it's an impressive and really good display, but I have a little noisy issue...

Every time display turns off (lid close, turn off time reached, etc...), at wake up brightness is different than before... most times is higher, sometimes is maximum, few times is lower than minimum.... I can't understand why!!!

if I shut down and start again (or restart) notebook, no problem, brightness is like before...

anyone with this problem? maybe also with other displays....

    Hi,

Just got the i7-10875 with the 2060 and loving it so far.

I'm just curious as to what docking stations you all have been using if you have 2 monitors since displaylink docking stations won't use the dgpu.

    Came back damaged from Sagernotebook.

So the saga of my new laptop goes on, sent it in because it was going black when not in use and it came back more damaged. I’ve written them and at this point, I just want a new replacement.

Here it is the day I sent it just minutes before I packed it. You can see no damage, and that hit had to be hard. Messed up the bezel pretty serious.

Fine again so far after letting L4D2 run unattended for an hour, strange.
There were artifacts as usual when I started the game, came back an hour later and game was still running but no artifacts.

GPU never gets hotter than 74c, have it on a cooling pad also.

That's what I first thought, but I booted a fresh Windows To Go on a usb stick with nothing installed but drivers that Windows automatically got via update and still had artifacts.

Just hope it stays ok now.

Hello everyone, I am considering the very similar PC50DC (as far as I can see it only has the different graphics card, am I missing something?), propably shopping at one.de as they have a good price over here in Germany.

I am a composer and working a lot with audio applications and for me a low dpc latency is crucial. Would anyone of you mind letting LatencyMon run for about 10 to 15 minutes and post a screenshot? This would be awesome! Thanks a lot!

Yeah, for me the most important thing is the highest reported dpc routine execution time. This tool does not finish, but if after a couple of minutes of letting it run and keeping on using the laptop as usual (browsing, YouTube and stuff), you can see, if the dpc latency stays low enough for audio work.

edit: this is an example screenshot from my desktop rig with fairly good results (tho it run a bit too short, often spikes occur only after a couple of minutes...)

edit2: can’t post the image atm. But Notebookcheck include them in their tests also normally. So you can have a look over there.

    CONCLUSION
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer
underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system
appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in
Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.
LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:17:28 (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware
request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a
DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that
    event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 4668.0
Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 2.880355

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 4639.80
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 1.018030

    REPORTED DPCs
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
DPC routines are part of the interrupt servicing dispatch mechanism and disable the possibility for a process to utilize
the CPU while it is interrupted until the DPC has finished execution.

Yeah, that helps a lot, thank you! Unfortunately the outcome isn’t what I was hoping for, it looks like this one isn’t suited for audio work unfortunately. Maybe some tweaks could help, maybe not. Thanks anyways!!

I honestly don't see the use of using someone else's results for this benchmark as a guideline for your purchase, without having more information about their specific setup. After all, this set of tests is highly dependent on factors that are not universal to the chassis model.

Considering how many end-user variables are in play, such as what drivers he has installed vs. which ones your as-yet-unpurchased possible machine has, it seems hard to make a judgment call based on someone else running this benchmark on a model that may be quite different from the one(s) you're looking at in terms of metrics like DPC latency.

I don't know, but just saying, perhaps a little more information would be more helpful?
