For those who are using this model without CCC and want to get rid of the two ACP drivers that are only installed by CCC i made a small script to install those:

    https://johnkeelnas.com/files/CLEVO/OtherDrivers/P9x0EN_EF_ED_CC_Drivers.zip
    (Run the Install.bat inside)

It will install the driver identifiers without adding any CCC stuff.
I still recommend using my Control Station software and select: Windows Tuning Tab > "Disable CCC Hotkey filters..."

My 970EN (2080 Max-Q version) was dispatched today from PC Specialist.co.uk...can't wait :D

When I received my dispatch confirmation I also received gift codes for the following games:
PUBG (Steam Code) worth 20 EUR via key resellers
Just Cause 4 (Steam Code) worth 20 EUR via key resellers
Anthem (Origin code) worth 30 EUR via key resellers
Metro Exodus (Epic Store) worth 35 EUR via key resellers
Battlefield V (Origin Code) worth 30 EUR via key resellers
So 135 EUR worth of games of which I only had BFV.

I paid 2090 EUR for the 2080Max-Q version with 2 x 8GB Corsair 2666 RAM, no SDD/HDD, RGB keyboard, INTEL® AC-9260, free shipping to Denmark
2 year statutory EU warranty (even if UK leaves EU then they have even longer "base" UK warranty)
First year I am guaranteed dead pixel free panel or they collect it, replace and return.
Second year I just need to send it myself for free warranty repairs.

    Pretty sweet deal IMO.
For this price in Denmark I could only get the 16" 2070 Max-Q variant.

In any normal scenario yes, such as comuting and general travel. Maybe not for rock throwing or going in a aeroplane hold.

    In the Netherlands:
P970, 16Gb ddr4-2666, 512Gb MX500 SSD, Intel wifi and thermal pads 2042€. No games though.

    But I prefer the RTX2060 for 500€ less. Still didn’t decided... :p

I really like thr 2070 p970ef but just on how sager prices them

For now just take my word for it the 2070 version is way more powerful than the 2060 by 5000 fs gpu score

It's a theory at the moment based on the 15 8nch tongfang which uses the the same hardware

Oh I could get mine even cheaper if I didn't opt for the 1 year Dead Pixel Warranty and Extended 3 Year warranty :) It is re-pasted too with MasterGel Maker paste.

This is at the LaptopParts4Less retailer, right?
    I've been mailing them too.
On top of 2042 EUR they charge 15 EUR Shipping and 3% fee for Card Payment.
    So 2042 + 15 + 61.72 = 2118.72 EUR
Bank Transfer is not an option for me because if I pay with MasterCard there's a few insurances I get from my bank, including accidents and theft one. For free.

I've also asked them about this Thermal Pad thing and it is exactly that, some sort of thermal pad. One would hope it is the Alphacool Eisschicht 17W/mk but it's damn expensive :D
But at least they give the 500GB MX500 at no extra cost and it's worth ~63 EUR currently.
I have 970 EVO Plus 1TB ready waiting at home which I sniped for 200 EUR during flash sale.

EBay has thr pm981 1 tb for 180 use

That's the oem version of rhe 980 Evo ..its from China too

    2 th version 400

Why I say this is thr hp i got is faster than the 970 Evo already but whenever the 980 comes out( soon) it has to beat the new ssds from their two main competitors( in short it's micron and Toshiba)
So the pm 981 should be the best ssd in the world

i can get a stable .600 mv undervolt

so im literally in impossible area ive never seen that.

yet the highest gpu score is just a 169 354m overclock from msi oc scan settings

the undervolt brings the score DOWN to 17400

i just dont understand what is going on. I can bring the clocks to 2000 so the gpu runs faster uses less power and the score goes down. upload_2019-4-8_19-9-19.png

About the Thermal Pad: It´s IC Graphite. Performance on these seems to be a hit/miss, depending on proper application and the heatsink design of the Laptop. However Frits at LaptopParts has reassured me that they have good experiences with this solution. Apparently it´s also convenient as it doesnt have to be reapplied, contrary to other thermal compound. I will be testing my P960EN once it arrives, which should be tommorow.

When I order, I will order normal paste and repaste with grizzly kyronaut.
I have that laying around here.
And change that every year or so (I don’t spend that much time on a PC after all).

Liquid metal seems to much hassl.

It is a fair amount of hassle. I would not have a particular set time for repeating, it may last longer, but if cleaning the vents still leaves you at significantly higher temps then it is time to repaste.

    You mixed something up.
PM981 (released in 2017) is the OEM version of 970 EVO from 2018 which is discontinued now.
This year 970 EVO PLUS came out. It's OEM equivalent is PM981 a
There's no 980 evo/pro in sight. Only 980 QVO based on QLC nand.

Although that might be the case for many systems, afaik it really depends on the individual design of the cooling System/ the mounting pressure of the Heatsink. It is likely a dry sheet of graphite will not form the same bonding as paste. Im not in the Illusion it will perform as good as a HQ compound such as Kryonaut, but i have seen tests where it performed quite well. Have you tried this on the P960EN before?

It is a 970 Evo youre right

    I got a 1 tb for 165 still a deal
But its true same 165 could have got a faster ssd there's 2 on thr market now that cheap that are faster .
Just a name brand deal i would say

The hp ex950 i got for 2 tb 360 ia way faster and if I had gotten a 1 tb it would havd been 159 5 dollars cheaper and better.

But still if you like Samsung brand it's much cheaper than they sell for.

I agree now is not thethe time to get samsung ssds even this deal isnt a deal

Nope but I doubt there's any difference since PayPal charges the seller over 3% so... unless you send it as a payment to a friend which is not technically true.

Hmm... Did you have it on maximum performance? (maybe in Clevo Center or something)

The CPU Power Limit seemed capped at 30W, and it ran at 3.0 Ghz throughout the benchmark, the i7-8750h should run at 3.9Ghz multi-core.

    Could you please check again?

    Really appreciate it.

Well gents, I received a Sager NP8971 (P970ED) this evening running a fairly stock setup minus the storage capacity. The storage capacity is a 512GB EVO 970, a 2TB EVO 970, and a 2TB SSHD. Otherwise it has the rtx 2060, 16GB RAM, and the i7 8750h cpu.

So, my impression of this laptop is this. The performance is absolutely stunning, and it runs as fast as I would've hoped it would. The screen is vivid, bright, and has no dead pixels. In addition, the backlight bleed is minimal in my opinion, and well up to par for me. The fans are very quiet, and it's quite light, and thin.

The problem I have is that this laptop runs terribly hot. I didn't run a proper stress test as only games were causing it to get close to max temp for the 8750h, which I'm to understand is 100 celsius. The CPU spiked at 95 celsius while playing Conan Exiles. In addition, the left side of the keyboard is entirely too hot to keep a hand on for any length of time. So, I've requested an RMA through XOTIC. I have to say it's a shame as well because I'd love to keep it considering the performance.

Throttlestop undervolt .125 .125 the CPU
Also go to fans and switch it to max if ita quiet

Those fans arent quiet they are loud

With an undervolt and a max fans run occt or Stu and you are looking for staying below 80c

    Throttle stop
    Hit five
Check allow voltage change on 3 categories
Hit the voltage and offset down .125
Hit the Intel gpu down .050

Get used to doing that every time

As far as I can read, you can save 2-3 profiles (performance, battery and emergency). Run throttlestop with task schedular (10 seconds after boot AND login user).
I don’t know if it starts running a profile after startup.

Long long time ago on my Asus G73JH I had Throttlestop setup to launch this way. All my settings were indeed saved in profile and automatically applied. Should be easy.

Today I drove to a reseller and have seen (and touched) the p970 and Tongfang (with mechanical keyboard) and the overal look and feel of the Clevo is more mature and less gamer like.
For me, the keyboard of the clevo is better (same as the dell I have at work).

Also the fan noise at max is oretty good, audibke, but less than the Alienware 15R3 I’ve had in the past.

I will order a P970ed for sure, awesome laptop.

The Tong fang 15 pretty good too but the tong fang 17 is more like the pb17 clevo. So i thijk you compared that one to the p970 and it is a little gamer. But the 15 inch is very understated if i didnt have this one id have that one .

Theres a similar thing going for both of those they aren't a mass produced for another make model.

    Both excellent reviews

The clevo 9xx series has literally no external rgb at all it barely has 3 tiny lights in front so it bucka that trend

It was the tongfang 17” for sure. The clevo PB doesn’t have mechanical keyboard.
The Tongfang was a tad quiter (lower frequency sound) but not that much to be honest. It had a metal lid but soft touch plastic around the keyboard.

The clevo P970 is only plastic at the bottem, more sleek design and a nice glas touchpad. It’s more suited for me I think.

yes the 15 inch tongfang is much thinner and lighter it is a different model, where as this 9xx its the same model larger.

the 17 inch tongfang has the max p 2070 so dont discountthat but its much wider too.

In a more direct comparison i would take the 17 inch tong fang over the pb17 2070 max p also.

the tong fang 2070 notebooks are good too . they dont have one exactly like this.

    actuallyt the bottomis metal.

it is actually entirely metal certain parts look plastic but even they are metal strangley enough the just have a plastic finish

the bottom is metal, not a high grade its like pot metal. and the 2 halves of the bezel they are coated with a fake cover of carbonfiber but they are metal too.

i took the bottom cover off its metal

I remember i asked someone and they said the screen bezel is plastic. even that is all metal it sort of looks like the front is plastic but its not its one peice made to look like it has a bezel.
