On the photo - the card is previous version of the RTX 20xx - ver 3.1, ver 4.2, that is currently on the market have layout difference. I had to mod the heatsink like on the photos below.

Have anyone tried dsanke's bios for p870tm1 with version 1.07.16?

    Does fn+d reset works?

As per table it says fn+d is unusable with this version, however, funny fact is that I am on the same version with additionaly modded eurocom bios (gpu id fix) and it works as it should..

My machine which got 2 yrs back was great in other respects but the graphics card ie the 2080rtx gave me a lot of trouble and it used to crash a few times a day for the last couple of months. So just wanted to make this post here in case someone is still troubled by this and looking for a stable nvidia driver ie a graphics driver as I tried a few and all had similar problems. I tried the latest one and I tried 445 , and the latest one ie 460 and also 450 but the one I am using now ie 457.51 seems the stablest. Very few crashes.

To install it make sure to remove the previous version using DDU. Some instructions as also somewhere in this thread itself.

Either that, undervolt, change thermal paste?

Or tweak tdrdelay to a 15 seconds value since it provokes most crashes

I did have an undervolt around -113 mv and was stable around that but anything lower ie -115mv or so was causing more crashes. With the update of the driver, the same -113 mv was stable and a crash in 2 days or less so it is fairly stable. I might increase the mv to -110 or so and it would be better. Also I didn't touch the thermals as it was done by HIDEvolution and I didn't wish to tamper with it !

I am still relatively unfamiliar with the other tweaks on the Prema Bios as there isn't any updated tutorial on it. Youtube has older ones. Are you suggesting that I should change the tdrelay settings. If so where do I do it from? Which menu ? Do let me know. please.

Not really options for 1440p panels at the moment. 1080p fast or 4k slow.

There are some decent 1440p 165Hz 8ms 100% sRGB panels in 17.3” and 15.6” that came out this year with the new Ampere laptops.

Hi the advice I got was to do an undervolt I did mine at 125mlv you just need to see how much of an undervolt you laptop can take . Did you get the modded driver with your card that would help you a bit to

I am only using -70mV now.

the video card driver is downloaded directly from Nvidia, unmodified. version 461.40. works like a charm.

@rzrwolf What kind of mods u had to do to fit in RTX 2070? On attached screens i see that u had to cut out small squared hole next to heat pipe. Did you have to do anything else? Unfortunately my GPU is dead and im thinking about this kind of upgrade.

Stock EUROCOM BIOS (it is just modded stock clevo bios) doesnt support unmodded driver installation for RTX cards. At least for laptops before jan 2020.

It is possilbe, that they fixed it in newer modded version of bios, which has the same version 1.0.7.16REU, but with added fix for GPU ID for RTX cards, so drivers are installed out of the box without adding ID manually to inf files.

You mean T-shaped heatsink? Yes, you need to cut out small piece near the tube (be extremely carefull removing it, not to damage tube).

Also you can solder small copper square (see small solder traces near it) to make perfect fit

Thanks for great response. Im not that afraid now to do this - i mean get rtx 2070 instead of GTX. In worst case i can just cut this small square and use thicker pad.

You also mentioned something about drivers and BIOS. I assume you're going with eurocom bios instead of dsanke one?

I was using Eurocom bios, modded and fixed for GPU ID, but after installing 2080 i had to do this fix again, so i just went with dsanke - no issues with his bios, i even have FD+D working for cmos reset.

Thoughts on further mods of heatsinks for 30xx series? )

That's a much wider spacing and it's not going to be simple.

An X bracket wont help as the hole spacing has changed, where would it poke through to match up?

It'll be tougher for the dual vapor chamber for sure, since you can't drill through it. But we might be able to rig something up, in form of an adapter, to fit the old mounting. My only concern would be, does that solution produce enough mounting pressure on the die for good contact. I'll reach out to an engineer friend of mine and ask if he could take a look at it, should I get a chance with this card.

At least the vapor chamber mounts other than the core so the general position is kept.
