P775DM2 chassis is same size as the older P775DM1, they add some new features like ess dac audio and gaming keyboard which are good for marketing, but then they cut costs where there is less market focus to keep profit margins juicy, they just had to gimp the damn cooling of P775DM2.

Also notice that besides less heat pipes, in the P775DM2 the heat pipes don't run all the way to the end of the copper fin array, but they do in the P775DM1, double cooling downgrade for the P775DM2...

Kaby lake is no excuse, 1080 is no cool card, running side by side with a desktop cpu with a shared heat sink, you need to bring your cooling A-Game or go home. I would buy this notebook if it had kept the previous models cooling, but clevo has shown it's true colors with the cooling gimp, will not buy.

Now there is no clevo model that fit's my requirements, you missed out on my money clevo.

If this ↓↓↓ is correct. Will Kaby Lake aka 7700K have higher TDP and higher boost clock than Skylake. In theory... A need for better cooling and not less

Okay, First I compared the 770ZM's right chassis and I could find that space more for this version but the 775DM1 also looks similar to the DM2, That was 15" vs 17" there so at first glance It seemed to be reduction.
Next is yeah 12v and thick blades vs the thin blades of the old ones, Idk but the old fan seems bigger to me..

Here are the snaps that I had used to compare -
    770ZM 775DM1 775DM2_pascalone 775DM2_pascaltwo

100% agree, I didn't expect this at all, that's why high temps I suppose...man wth, First they blew the MXM and now expect us to have this gimped HS, I was even considering this beast when prices come down, But NOPE, I'm not giving even a penny to Clevo, I mean they raked all those profits with 3.0b Maxwell & non 3.0b for 2 gens - 77xZM with Haswell and then the DM Skylake upgrade & the 870DM, now left all of them EOL to have this for us Claps !!

Your CPU Voltage is damn high.
    My 6700k runs 4.2GHz (x42) at 1.22V.

Try to set x42 Multpler in XTU (+200MHz OC)
and lower voltage to -150uV. If it won't be able, go for -140uV or -130uV.

XTU Stress test 10 minutes -> 84*c (OC Fan Profile) // I have messed up last repaste on CPU, waiting for IC Diamond 7 ordered in komputronik.
In your case, cool GPU also should help cool CPU under load.

+0.1V is about 10-15*c CPU temp. Seriously, Clevo BIOS is giving WAY too much voltage to skylake cpus.

can anyone clarify the fact regarding thunderbolt ports for 750dm2-g, is it a thunderbolt gen 2 port or thunderbolt gen 3 port ?

also i had a few questions for 750dm/750dm2 owners how practical is it to lug around a 4 kg laptop in your backpack ?

    Pertaining to the 1080p 120hz monitor, the conversation was to the effect that;
I asked to secure it for purchase upon release for the then listed upgrade price (as they had it listed as coming soon) of around AUD$270, and Metabox confirmed that this would be fine plus a small labour charge (AUD$70 was mentioned for labour). I responded that I would hold him (Emmanuel) to this, and he confirmed that if this were not the RRP, that he would fix it from his end to keep his word.

Did they say anything about GSync? If you swap your GSync certified 60 hz screen to a 120 hz GSync certified screen, will GSync work GSync only works with the purchased screen and the swapping needs some additional work in the service?

Hey guys i have a p775dm3 with a 1080 and a 6700k. I ran some benchmarks and was extremely disappointed with the temps on the cpu and gpu. Was getting 97c on cpu and 89c on gpu. I elevated the laptop about an inch and it cooled down some. But then i repasted with coollaboratory luquid ultra and it really cooled things down. 76c max on the 1080 in witcher 3 cranked up. The cpu still runs hot as hell but i am undervolting and trying to get it to not clock down. I ran a firestrike and i will try to post a picture of the performance

According to Gentech http://www.gentechpc.com/Sager-NP9152-Clevo-P750DM2-G-nVidia-GTX-1060-6GB-p/sager-np9152.htm it has Thunderbolt 3.

And the largest laptop I've owned is an Alienware M18x R1 and it really came down to the kind of backpack you use.

Do you have an optical driver? If yes use thr driver DVD included. With my P775DM1-G the drivers on the disc were newer than on the download website. And amongst all SoundBlaster drivers only the one on the disc worked fine for me.

Nice to hear your story, keep us updated!
Just to clarify, you put CLU on the GPUs? Or just the CPU? (I was under the impression that you should for some reason not use CLU on GPUS, maybe someone can comment on it?)

This makes me cry when thinking that my 860m GPU never goes above 72C in real usage, and max 80C in benchmarks, but then again, there is no comparison between what a 860m and a 1080 can do.

In another order of thoughts, getting 97C on CPU is not only very high, but also risky. I tend to run 100C on CPU constantly on my Acer laptop, but I guessed that mobile CPUs were made to withstand higher temperatures :D

So the P6xx's apparently have muxing that allows switching between dGPU and Optimus.

Can the P7xx series be switched to integrated GPU in BIOS? I understand there's no Optimus, but I'm wondering if the iGPU (alone) can still be utilized if desired. I am thinking of the times I would like to have a little more battery power..

    Thanks

After my repaste with gelid extreme the temps are almost as good as P751DM levels. Almost 14000 in firestrike and only 64C on GPU

I put CLU on both the cpu and gpu. The gpu stays 76c or under the cpu maxes out around 86c but that is very temporary. It's only during very heavy loads. I've also undervolted by -100mv but have yet to test it. Im pretty sure the temps will be more reasonable. Ive used CLU on several gpus and have never had a problem. The fn+1 fan boost keeps everything very cool but is literally the loudest fan setting ive ever heard on a laptop.

    IIRC it should be

3.9Kg, Including Barebone, VGA card and 82WH Battery (with FHD panel)
    • 4.3Kg, Including Barebone, VGA card and 82WH Battery (with QFHD panel)

And i think 1 kg for power adapter

Could someone please take a picture for me of the main page of the factory bios? I am interested in the bios, ec and vbios version numbers.
Also, can you set multiplier for the k CPU and XMP profile for the ram in the factory bios or we still need master Prema's custom bios for basic stuff like this?

Awesome, those temps are absolutely reasonable!
How about your GPU temps when gaming (i.e. games that put the card at full load, like Witcher 3)? Do they stay below ~85°C?

The temps seem fine, but the performance is absolutely stunning.
Omg how beautiful this game is on my Asus PG279Q now.

Oh, and the fan noise is bearable. Totally acceptable to me considering the performance!
And the difference in fan noise (in OC mode) is noticeable before the undervolt, and after!

I've got Clevo P775GM3 on order awaiting delivery of 4k screens. Still trying to sell my current Clevo P751ZM before the new one arrives. Bit worried seeing the changes in the cooling after having this laptop a year it's never throttled or overheated ever so I'm hoping the new ones aren't suffering those issues

Did anyone receive an Octane III from PCSpecialist yer? They claim it is based on p775dm3-G, however the shown pictures are from the P775Dm1-G and you can also buy it with GTX980.
Is it really using the new DM3 motherboard or they are modding the old DM1 and install it with GTX1080?

This is from an hour session of Overwatch: http://imgur.com/a/ZmEWF

I did run into 2 problems though:
    1. Just before my hour of Overwatch, I launched the game, and while still in the main screen of the game the laptop restarted. No BSOD, just a restart. Could this indicate that the undervolt was a little to much? Should a try a lower one like -130mV?
    2. Sometimes my secondary monitor (Asus ROG PG279Q) gets some artifacts (kinda like vertical lines) in Windows. Never in games, only in Windows. What could be causing this? The miniDP (from laptop) to DP (to monitor) cable seems to be of good quality (HAMA brand).
    Would appreciate some input. Thanks.

Looked on pcs and their octane III is definitely the same chassis as the pictures of this persons new P775dm3 not sure if it's using the old mobo but they did say the 1080 is only available in the dm3 so I'm guessing it has to be the new motherboard?

The old one has full DP ports like on the pictures, the new had mini DP ports.

except it's harder to buy a good miniDP-DP cable which is crucial for 1440p 165hz gsync gaming

Eh, its the same cable. There isnt anything different in a DP to DP or a Mini DP to DP (male/female) cable.
Im running 144hz just fine on a $9 Mini DP to DP cable, and have even done the same using a Mini DP to DP female adapter ($3) and then hooked that to a normal DP to DP cable.

The pin outs are exactly the same, the mini DP standard is just a miniaturized version of the port.

Unlike DVI-I Dual Link adapters these dont need any active/passive shenanigans.

So they aren't new motherboards? Wasn't there a comment earlier in the thread saying the cooling setup had changed? Was the previous mobo the same setup? I know my clevo has more heatpipes than the pictures shown previously.

    Can anyone clear this up?

After looking the pictures again from PCS you are correct the Ports are not the same as on the pictures people have posted of their new machines. Slightly worrying as I don't want an older motherboard in such an expensive machine.

Someone posted on the PCS forums saying the following after they had received their Octane III:

Rampant stuttering, 60Hz refresh, false advertisement on the store page (Wrong forms of input and photos)

So perhaps it is the correct motherboard and the pictures are incorrect? ('i think the guy was upset about no 120Hz screen and had overclocked his previous screen so dont take the stuttering as gospel)
