Just made a new run without Hwinfo and got the same kind of results. Also on another laptop (same config except RAM G Skill instead of Corsair) got the same type of result.
Thanks for the help. But anyway, already happy compare to my old BGA notebook ;)

Same here. And its your fault :D
That GTX 1080 for only $100 is too tempting.

Sorry, for some reason I thought you were a Prema partner.

I know you can flash it yourself, but the impression I got was that Prema wasn't releasing it out and that the partners were connecting in and installing the BIOS

Is it possible to get prema installed from distance?

It would be pretty sweet if Prema could be flash at a distance, though I'm not really sure if flashing bios remotely is possible or even the safest thing to do.

Well technically it should be possible as you can already flash the BIOS on desktop motherboards whilst in Windows so in theory you could do it on these laptop motherboards as well.
If it were possible that would make it much more secure to give out the Prema BIOS as it would mean that you never actually got the BIOS ROM file as they could link in, flash it then remove the file before handing it back over to you

Yes, we have flashed the Prema BIOS for all of our EVOC High Performance Systems P870DM3, P775DM3-G and P750DM2-G customers who bought before its release, remotely, and will do the same for our P6xxx series customers once the Prema BIOS is released for them.

However only Prema partners are authorized to flash his BIOS, and only on their customer's laptops. Any other use of the Prema BIOS for these models would violate Prema's copyright.

I wonder if he'd let Prema partners flash onto other machines for a fee

A quick question about coolers for this machine. I think someone mentioned Notepal U3 Plus. I think raising the machine from the table surface will help with temperatures as well.

Yeah, U3 is the only viable notebook cooler out there. But you should mod it with 12v fans and use 12v power adapter for best functionality. The 5v mini usb fans who is followed isn't useable.

Thanks for the recommendation. You have any specific brand in mind when you say 12v fans or just any generic 12v fan with a suitable power adapter will do the job?

High air flow fans with high pressure is recommended. Yes. I and some others use Vardar 2200/3000rpm 120mm fans. They are intended for water radiator cooling(high pressure fans)and work fine for the mod. Search it up in the forum. Or I can post it later today.

@Papusan it does look pretty cool. Though I think I would not cut out holes for fans myself. But I am definitely getting the fans and will see how much of a difference they make temperature wise.

You don't need to cut holes as my mod :D But I recommend using fan filters. Cleaning inside the laptop is almost gone with my mod. The fan filter I use, is made from my wife's used nylon stockings :p Due this... Highly recommended people getting married

I couldn't find any feedback from people who bought from AVADirect on the forum, and surprisingly they are on the market since 2000.
I did find some nasty reviews on resellerratings.com, also some excellent ones. I'm not from US and I don't know if this review site is also trustworthy as I also read someone blaming that these companies kind of buy those ratings.
Is AVADirect trustworthy? Can I buy from them?

"If it's too good to be true, then it probably is." Why is their price so heavily discounted? Why can't any other reseller here match that price?

    That is an amazing result!

They barely lower the temperatures with 5C for me and under idle load - even less under sustained load

Maybe there's something I should be doing differently...

Well they've been reviewed on Tom's Hardware, CNET, and PCWorld before so I would imagine they are legitimate.
Also, the main side of the site did a review of one of their rebrand clevo laptops a while back
    http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookreview/avadirect-menace-clevo-p770zm-review/
and Tech of Tomorrow made a video about one of their laptops back in 2012.

I know... I actually asked myself the same question. And I'm still asking ... haha

But on all those cases, the laptop got reviewed, and not the customer experience side. Like delivery problems, receiving different product than ordered, bad warranty service....

And let's face it, how are they selling 1080 with 1060 price tag? How!? I'm gonna think and research a lot before making that buy. And for me it's worse, I need to pay using wire transfer because they don't accept cards from my country.

It definitely seems a bit sketchy, I was thinking about taking a drive over to them to check it out, but that's a 530 mile round trip, and I drive a jeep so it like $100 in gas.

Interesting point though, while rereading the thread looking for the modded ccc without the xtu stuff, noticed that @ jclausius has an AVADirect machine, granted its from 2010, but AVA none the less.

Perhaps we could get some personal impressions from what you remember my dude @ jclausius ?

Question for those with a 775, how good/bad is the 1080p IPS?

I was looking at it's specs compared to the Sharp 4K IGZO in my P650SG and saw that its only a 6-bit panel. Does it make much of a difference or is it not too noticeable?

Been using my trusty x7200 for 6+ yrs. So, I know they've been around since late 2010.

I had to go thru email history to find it (yes, I'm a packrat), but the purchase experience was fine. I placed the order thru the web, but only after talking with someone. Order placed, email promptly received, and I think the build took about 12 to 14 days from order to arriving at the office.

Just before warranty expired, I had an RMA issue where the BIOS / RAID settings were not being saved. I replaced the CMOS battery myself, but still something was up, and BIOS settings were reset if the unit was unplugged from the PSU. Sent the unit for a trouble/RMA issue in mid Oct' 2012. They tested it, cleaned out the fans, repasted, and although they said they could not find the problem, the unit was sent back and holding the BIOS settings, and has held since I received it back 4.5 yrs ago (and a couple of more CMOS batteries)!!

Assuming nothing's changed, I would recommend them again. About the only reservation I would have is they are not a Prema Partner, so you'll be locked in at stock BIOS or perhaps you can work with @Prema at premamod.com to remedy that issue.

Screen burn in in 3 unique panels after 3 months, 2 pixels dead on one unit, 1 pixel dead on my actual unit, my reseller didn't replace the second panel - it was considered normal to have 1 pixel dead.

I have no guarantee that the 4K panel or the other one is better either - just my experience with the IPS FHD panel.

120hz QHD is a TN actually :), but the 1080p 120hz one is a IPS i guess(?), just some sort of a more OCed one LG, which one was used in the P771DM-G?

Edit: ok the 120Hz is actually a AUO b173han01.2, can't find the 01.2 on Panelook, only 01.0 and 01.1 and they are both rated at 25ms repsonse time

Well it looks like the saga of the AVA $96 GTX1080 has ended, they fixed their typo.

Thankfully I still have my quote, and made another one with the 4K panel. Now I just need to make a command decision on the panel and pull the trigger.

Update: Looks like their quote doesn't hold the price, should have expected that duh. Emailed them to see if I could still get the price I quoted, but I'm not hopeful. Will probably go over to HIDevoc and see what I can configure with their main man Donald.

I'm in the same situation. I have the quote with the old price, but I still didn´t get a response if it's valid or not.

My main reseller choice was HID also, but I put that on hold when you told us about the AVA GTX 1080 deal.

My config will be 3k 120Hz panel, 7700k, GTX1070, 16GB CL 14 2400Mhz, with no storage. I will buy them separated as it's much cheaper.

emag Romania does. If their price is an obscene small amount, they still honor it regardless if they like it or not. Someone bought 10 TVs at 20% of their retail price because of an error like this.

On the other hand, I think that emag is way big enough to afford this.

Romanian law actually makes it a crime if you don't do it as it can be written off as misleading information, but that's another story

Well in the UK at least they can just not sell it to you, you will find trading standards wont go after a place for what is a simple mistake. It would need intent to mislead and repeat offences.

Yes, this is probably true worldwide. Just because there is a law, doesn't mean you can get the government to enforce it for you, particularly when it was a clear typo with no intent to deceive.

There is a moral implication too, I think it's perfectly reasonable as the odd mistake to say sorry and then say I can only sell it at the proper price. If it becomes a theme however then certainly that becomes an issue.
