I hope resellers or Clevo see this is the very reason problems discussed here should be communicated to CLEVO R&D team. If there is a legitimate shortcoming of a system or frustration discussed, it should be looked into and and possibly addressed in the next iteration laptop. If Clevo fails to do so..., well, you never know if someone switches how many others will follow their lead and affect units sold!

the problem is, Clevo doesn't care about any of our comments or frustrations. Who is Phoenix to them? just some d00d on the internet not happy with their crapped 15 inch keyboards in their larger 17.3 inch laptops

They don't sell me or you laptops, they sell their laptops in bulk to resellers/system builders and as long as they are selling, that's all that matters

But reasons like this are why me and a few others may sway away form Clevo in the future despite them having great hardware specs, one bad thing can spoil the experience

Do you guys have these problems with the NP9172/X7E2?

CPU temps reach 100'C while gaming.

Fans not kicking in fast enough.

you mau have one of those overheating CPUs that don't run so cool and the stock voltage is too high for the stock clock speeds.

an easy fix would be for you to undervolt the CPU by -150 mV for stock clocks

Do I need a modified BIOS for that or I could do it with the CCC CPUOC tool?

you can do it in the built in OC tool located in CCC but that will only undervolt the CPU and not its cache ratio

but let's start by that first, if it didn't work, then we will have to use Throttle Stop to undervolt the cache ratio as well

let's take it one step at a time

Also, I recommend we continue the discussion here for better exposure and in order to not fill this thread with complicated undervolting/system settings :)

I hope that is not the case. What you and a lot of the others say and do is EXTREMELY important to the Clevo Eco-system.

For a reseller like HIDEvolution not so much due to different model lines they can offer. But for a Clevo-only reseller it makes a very big difference. Just look at how large your MSI order thread has grown in just a few days. Trust me ppl are watching and you may be influencing quite a few number of people's purchases.

And the resellers will always give feedback to Clevo. They can't ignore this in the long run.

Hey everyone, its my first post here. :)

I pretty much read through 100 pages now but still didnt find to much information about the P751DM2-G. I found this model for ~ 1150€ and I'm pretty close to buying it, but still have a few questions. Maybe or hopefully you guys can help me answer them. :)
First of all I read a lot about repasting in this thread. Is this really needed or is this more something for enthusiasts? I don't really feel like repasting my Notebook when it arrives. Overall is all this tinkering needed or does the model run well without me changing too much? All I want is a great budget gaming Notebook that runs well out of the box.
Also does this model really have a normal desktop CPU? This would be awesome :D
Is the GPU swappable as well?

    Thanks in advance guys :)

This is P775 Thread - To answer your questions:

    - Dekstop CPU, MXM GPU.

    - You might not need to repaste for a year or so, depending on what paste it originally had.

    - It might run well out the box for you. Depends a lot. If you only need vanilla windows + drivers + games , it does run well out os the box

If you want to be 100% sure of not needing a repaste or tinker too much then I have to recommend you purchase it from obsidian-pc. You can get a delidded K cpu with liquid metal and it will be already undervolted so you will have lower temperatures. Also they have an AMAZING support!
If you are not interested in squeezing everything out of it, regarding performance or quiteness / coolness of operation, I think you can be pretty satisfied with it at stock values. Personally I would at least spend a couple days tuning it to shave off most of the heat and noise, but to each his own.

I can only say I never noticed fan noise over game sounds, without headphones. It's not like there wasn't any, it just wasn't annoying or covering something else. ;)
That was with no liquid metal and with -113 mV cpu offset. Now it has liquid metal inside and (maybe) -120 mV, plus other things. And I can't wait to have it back, I'm almost more excited now than when I originally purchased it. :D

I personally am quite happy with the keyboard in my P775DM3 but I do understand how it can be a dealbreaker if you don't like it. @Phoenix hope you like the MSI machine. Better yet, lets hope Clevo cleans up their act and does a proper mechanical keyboard version of the P870 series. And you come back to Clevo.

You have been such an active member of Clevo forums, and I do hope they realise how important active forum members, and reseller representatives, are for convincing end consumers like myself in making purchasing decisions. I bought my machine only once I knew what to expect from the machine, what were its shortcomings, and how to work around its faults. And that was all down to this forum with its active members like yourself and reseller representatives.

Trackpad and finger scanners are utter crap. Not sure if it is because of Windows 10 or anything else.

Trackpad: every time I start touching, it starts toggling on/off. Is there any setting I need to tweak?
Finger scanner: my older Clevo was so better. I often exceed the limit of scans, it just fails to read the scan!

I cam across a new problem yesterday after fixing my CPU overheating issue. Now the screen flickers when the GPU hits 90'C. Is it a GPU defect or is it something else? I've tried downclocking it, remove CCC, reinstall drivers, reseat GPU.

If Phoenix is no one to Clevo, then who is Pheonix to MSI?

There was a mod to take the MSI SteelSeries keyboard and drop-in replace the Clevo keyboard back in the P150EM/P170EM days.

Guys, my local reseller tells met that the 3K (QHD) 120Hz screen is NOT G-Sync and that Clevo tells them that too.
But I see it advertised in so many places... what gives? Are they all wrong?

Does the 120Hz 3K screen have G-Sync or not? (preferably from people with that actual screen)

Are we talking about 15" or 17"?
    The 17" WQHD (3k-ish) AUO B173QTN01.0 has g-sync.

Good old days where you didn't have to exchange the entire top cover just to replace the keyboard like on today's MSI models.

In my case, and many others here have the same experience, it messes up with the fan profiles. Fans behave in erratic manner resulting in high CPU and GPU temperatures.

Yeap we edited the oem.ini file so it wont install XTU, to OC just use throttlestop.
The app will also check if CC is installed, prompt for uninstall and restart first and then show a resume option to install the new CC ;)
About the app, ill update it this week with new models which are already rolling out :)

EDIT: Don´t forget to thank brother Phoenix for his amazing work at the P870 driver thread.

I only want to sell products that i can place my brand on them, i do way too much custom work to sell anything with another brand name so that they can have the glory :p.
And i´m not sure if MSI would have those models in "Barebone" or only MSI branded version. Then there´s the matter of the quantities needed, i usually sell to Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and Italy, i don´t even want to think how many units i would have to order to get all those keyboards.
We are just a small store with a lot of good intentions, true, and we can be dedicated and work over-time, but at the end of the day we are very young and small.

I wish we could grow faster but it´s not easy, too much competition in my country, stores here do crazy prices with almost impossible margins (make no sense to be honest), the only Portuguese online forum is one of those cases where you can´t even say a brand name unless the brand sponsors the forum, so it´s hard for us to get recognition, basically we are at NBR and that´s it. I guess we have a long road until we can do all the great things we have planned, but hey, i have time and patience!

Also stores here use branded laptops for cash flow, they sell MSI @ 5% margin or less because they will pay the distributor in 60 days or more, so they only care of laptops for money flow and not actually profit, killing it for the rest of us. Actually i have seen shops selling MSI to the end client at a lower price than i can get at the biggest EU importers, same happens with other brands for the same reasons i spoke above.
But then they sell like they are selling potatoes, support? improving the product? knowing the product? Nahhhhh no need, just SELL! And then i get those clients who bought MSI coming to my website chat asking for support :O

Probably not the reply you wished for right? Sorry man, i´m just letting some steam out!

    Ohhh thank you very much!!
There´s still much to be done, but i´m a limited coder and i have much to do in our store! Hopefully as the team grows i can dedicate myself more to those types of stuff, they type of things are improve the product and the overall client experience.
But stay tuned, we have great plans for that app.
By the way, i guess a lot of people (non-clients mostly hahaha) are using it, at least that´s what my server bandwidth is showing, :O i think i will actually have to rent another server just for it, if this keeps going up...

I am very happy to support in any way possible. My coding skills aren't anything to write home about but I'll like to make a contribution, monetary or otherwise. Maybe we should start a donation page? I still feel a bit annoyed with myself for not doing more extensive research before buying my machine, could have gotten it, delided and all, from you guys!

If you need some help with coding, I can pitch in a few hours. However, if you are looking for C++ skills, I don't have it, but what I do have are a very particular set of .NET and Web dev skills. Skills I have acquired over a not so very long career.

No no no, no donations, the app itself serves as promotion for my store, which is a commercial business. So it makes no sense getting donations. Donations should go for people who expect nothing in return, people like prema and phoenix and many others who help the community getting little to nothing in return. To me is already too good to be true that i can actually use this forum with my signature advertising my store without being charged for it! I have the obligation to help.

Now, the app is written in C++, although i used QT, i would just post the code but i´m actually ashamed of it, it´s so ugly and noobish, hahaha, let me clean it up, improve it and then i´ll add it to git or something. Real help could come in as bits, like i can share a todo list, for instance a .exe that will take care of the update process, very easy to do actually, kill the app, download a zip, pass the command to 7zip to unpack and replace, done, haven´t done just for lack of time, i can share this type of TODO stuff, also a optional service (tray icon) to notify of updates (i got this request a lot).

wait.... are you quoting TAKEN on me? hahaha
Well i´m thinking of how can we use your skills, but then again, you do know this app is bound to a commercial store right?
With .net and webdev skills we could do a online/browser version of this, very easy actually... well actually now i want to do it too... man... i need more free time, so many ideas, but then i cant fit anything else :( i´m already due to enjoy last year vacations hahaha

In fact this is exactly the answer I need... You are a passionate team who make a great job here for the community and as business owner. Keep going! No discussion about that. I haven't any problem to pay for your added services, neither.
Regarding your brand and logo, I've showed it today to my team (dev team) just to tell them how cool I feel it (probably the best logo on Clevo machine) (true).
This team own a lot of Clevo machine (40% of the team, me include, not that bad)... we've got some understanding about computing and hardware (not as you but some) and possible trade off.
MSI sells this machine as barebone, without logo and stuff. Ask @Phoenix or @Mr. Fox or see the dedicated fast growing thread. It seems that you have to order 20 laptops (info coming from another seller - I am looking for 3).
(North) Europe is not covered (or poor coverage or twice the price of North America). At least nobody offers the service you are able to do. I understand very well all the work you put on your current offer and the added value of that and the work effort needed if you want to be able to offer the same service with another brand...

Facts are (or it seems) that for the same specs: weight, keyboard and fan noise are (a lot?) better on the 16L3 than any Clevo. Price are about the same (in US at least).

I own a company also. I'am lucky enough to avoid 5% margin. This is not sustainable. I feel sorry for you guy's to compete against that kind of stupid things.

BTW, just to avoid misunderstanding, I've sent you last weekend a request for quote for 3 laptops. But when you I have to put this kind of money I "need" to be sure to make the best possible choice ;)

Waiting for your quote, definitely :)

I saw (your post if I remember well) in the 16L thread. Still US based and "more" difficult for an European citizen :( shipping, taxes, RMA, ... I still think that we should try to make a kind of world wild community (including sellers, good guys as Svet @Prema and others) to get the best machine for everyone at the best price and pay for the good services. I'm ok to pay (10-20% ?) more than the hardware stuff to get services, unlocked BIOS, how to as not everybody (me include) knows how to transform a laptop into a good laptop.
    Let's work together!

    [Sorry Svet and not Sven]

I understand and I'm with you on that. I hope @Donald@HIDevolution can speak to Svet to make them custom MSI BIOS just like Prema

On a side note, do note that HIDevolution has a global warranty option which covers shipping costs both ways should anything go wrong with your system, for me that's a non-brainer as an international customer who lives in Dubai

    see:

    HIDevolution's Warranty!

Is there a way to boost Intel 8260/8265 signal?

I am at the new place, and I cannot catch the signal across the walls. I had to use a little TP-Link dongle to boost the signal, this is so sad!

What I mean it's that custom BIOS (among others) should be shared (not freely) between the community (including good sellers) and whatever the brand is. I'm disappointed about the real difficulty in Europe to find this kind of "awareness" at a correct price (except obsidian who does it for Clevo) Sorry John @john doesn't make you appears in the list, so in full text ;) : John@obsidian-PC

So for me (Europe), I'm stuck with:
    - going wit no service at all and less warranty
    - buying in US/Canada and paying import taxes and shipping cost
    - going for Clevo
    - going for a BGA... (for more money than a real Clevo)
US's sellers do you even know that there is 324.000.000 people in US vs 510.000.000 in Europe? Doesn't seem a good enough market for you? Install (together?) a selling platform somewhere and you will sell your machine as croissant ;) just avoid UK with the Brexit :) in case of
    @Donald@HIDevolution and ohters

x-post from the 120Hz panel thread, reposting as it's relevant to the P750DM2-G:

I got my AUO B156HTN05.2 and new eDP cable today from Eurocom. Install went smooth. G-Sync is enabled and it is 120Hz. The colors are definately not as nice as an IPS but maybe I will try calibrating it with my i1Display Pro.

EDIT: the ICC profile from Notebookcheck actually looks fairly good so I'm just going to use that for now.

We sell tens of thousands laptops (like croissants) all over the world, including the UK and EU. The internet IS a worldwide platform, and there are about 7.4 Billion people on Earth! ;)

The UK will not be leaving the EU for at least two years...maybe longer.

For support we have technicians all over the world, and provide support via phone, email, online ticket and online chat, and can remote in to any computer worldwide as long as they have internet.

For warranty service, the only real issue is, who pays for shipping. If you get the HIDevolution Global Warranty we do...if you get the standard US warranty you do. HIDevolution.com Global warranties cover 2 instances per year of 2 way international shipping (by FedEx, DHL, or USPS/EMS - at HIDevolution's discretion) should the system and/or parts need to be sent back to the US for warranty related repair or replacement.

When someone writes a Custom BIOS I do not understand why you would expect it to be shared with everyone...whether it be for a fee or not. It is really up to the Author that did the work and has the copyright to determine how to distribute it.

If you want to buy locally, and not pay shipping, then talk to your local vendors about that...there is no point in suggesting that we are bad because we offer what they do not. Of course if you import, you will have to pay shipping, and VAT if you are in Europe...you would have to pay VAT whether you import or buy locally.

I am happy to help you just as we have tens of thousands of other enthusiasts in Europe, and worldwide :hi:. Just open your mind to the possibilities.

Looking at the thread it does not seem like it will have the GTX 1080, so i can´t actually see any advantage over the P751DM2-G, maybe the keyboard?
Also this: "MSi since they cancelled the retail version of this specific laptop (likely due to too high R&D cost and difficult marketing)" kind of scares me about support and future BIOS updates.
I remember some years ago i actually sold MSI "whitebooks" and i never, ever, managed to get any support, not drivers, no bios updates, nothing... but maybe now it´s different i don´t know.

We find MSI support to be excellent. If you only experienced it years ago...you should consider trying it again. Drivers, BIOS, and utilities are all available on the MSI website, and their tech support and warranty service is as good any, and better than most.

The EVOC 16L-G-1080 is based on the MSI 16L13 barebones, but the motherboard and thermal solution have been re-designed to support the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080. This was not done by MSI, it was done by Eurocom and to see what people think about it, just go to this thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...nado-f5-owners-and-discussions-lounge.797128/. The EVOC 16L-G-1080 is the same laptop, but with delidded, under-volted and overclocked desktop LGA i7 K CPUs. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/evoc-16l-g-1080-15-6-owners-lounge.800735/
