You misunderstand me, setting the 117FPS limit means that at 117FPS V-sync kicks in and it's just like being at 120FPS with 120hz.

The eDP connector on the panel is a standard across all makes, only the position can sometimes change.

Quick question: are there any known issue with the spacebar randomly not working in the P775 keyboard? I know it should be the same used in the P65x and P75x (and maybe P870 too?).

I've never experienced this on my P870, either DM or DM3.

keys not working means a lose keyboard connection, open your laptop and undo all the keyboard ribbon cables then re-fit them firmly

I'll try it surely if I encounter this issue again. After writing that post I played again a good 10-15 minutes with no problems.
I want to confirm with Obsidian before attempting to open the laptop, just to be on the safe side.
Anyway I played for good two or three hours, with a couple breaks, before noticing it. Started playing doom today, other games I'm playing are less keyboard dependant, but still strange for this kinda problem to appear now. Last time I moved the laptop around was two days ago.

I noticed, when spacebar isn't working, left Alt key is also unresponsive.

    I ordered a new p775dm3 last night :)
    I7-6700k, 1070, 16GB ram and with a 2560x1440p 120hz G.sync screen.

How does the screen compare to the 1080p 75hz?

I agree with linus anything up to 100hz is very noticeable in 10Hz increments looking at smoothness with gains trailing off after that. It will vary from person to person however.

Got my P775DM3 from Dream Machines on the 31 December. What a good present for New Year! :)

I got a concern though: is there anybody with @Prema BIOS and vBIOS installed who could tell me the firmware number of both.
I've paid for both but seemingly neither is installed.

    my versions:
    ME firmware 11.0.18.1002
    BIOS version is 1.05.06TDES
    EC firmware 1.05.03
    vBIOS version (1080) is 86.04.39.00.1C

BIOS is lacking most of options that I've seen in videos. However, there is a menu where I can set CPU and RAM voltages, so I don't know exactly what this BIOS is.
For the GPU, on my previous P870DM my cards with Prema mod installed showed "modified" next to the vBIOS version, so again, don't know.

Just want add that these improvements can spoil unbelievably. From late 90-s to 2005 I ran a PC with a GeForce2 and played games at 15-20 fps and it was fine to me at that time. Then I got a mid-range GPU and marveled at how good and smooth ~40 fps were compared to 15-20, anything below 30 became unacceptable. Then in 2010 I got a new PC with a high-end GPU and discovered joys of 60 fps gaming. Since then I hate to go sub-60.
    Now in 2015 I got a 75 Hz G-sync screen and now I can't imagine gaming without G-sync, and it's almost like I don't even like 60 anymore.
So, I think, it's the same story all over again. Once you see 120 Hz G-sync 1440p screen, there is no going back :)

Back in the day I had a 1024x768 100hz LG Flatron CRT monitor and I got used to 60hz again after a couple of years when LCDs became a thing.

I was very happy with the colors on my old p771, hoping this one is as good if not better.

The reseller lists the screen as ips, is that correct?

Got it! Thank you so much for your hard work on those awesome mods! Just one more question to clarify - is it ok then that I can't change the GPU voltage yet?

/Edit found it, it's power curve now instead of static offset.

Today I was setting up a new 750gb crucial ssd to replace one hdd, when the system freezed. It's the third time it happened, both the other times it was overnight while steam was downloading files.

Anyway, I'm running memtest86 now, I'll let it go all night and come back here. Hopefully no news, good news. :p

Any input / other things to consider? I'm suspecting one of the hdd I've putted inside is failing, but I don't believe it would freeze from just that.

Ps. Is it normal memtest86 is displaying 0 MHz for the ram?

Kaby Lake is now fully launched. When Skylake was launched back in Sept 2015, I remembered Clevo had new models for them almost immediately.

"Kaby Lake" is not fully launched yet. The U CPUs are, but not the BGA HQ, HK or IGA CPUs. They are still under embargo until the official launch. Once launched, you will see all major manufacturers releasing new models with the "Kaby Lake" platform.

Clevo P6XXH models are up on their site. Same thing, new cpu though not specific exactly yet.

@Donald@HIDevolution what's up with the P640 having a GTX 1050 Ti and not a 1060, that's like not an upgrade almost form the 970m??

The Clevo global site is in Asia, and not controlled by Intel USA as we are. Please be just a little more patient and all will be revealed.

Yes, I see that...but all of the manufacturer's still have us under non-disclosure. However since Intel has already broken their own embargo, it doesn't make a lot of sense does it?

We are still, unfortunately, under the thumb of the manufacturers. If we disclose early, they cut off our allocations...so please stand by, it obviously won't be much longer.

    Yes...so that was my clue.

The media embargo lifted today, so that is why you see it on ARK and in the news. Products cannot launch yet though.

So CES starts at 10 AM Thursday morning eh...verrrrry interesting!

Intel didn't break NDA, they paper launched exactly on the spot!

    NDA ≠ Embargo

Embargo usually ends a couple of days after an NDA runs out in order to give press the time to prepare proper articles/reviews.

    Hi Guys !

Question I have Clevo P775DM3-G bought in Poland reseller Xtreem, can I use for it BIOS from XMG or OBSIDIAN ?

At this moment I have :
    Bios Version - 1.05.01
    KBC/EC Firmware version 1.05.02

Both resellers have newest version of the BIOS and maybe some of them will help me with sometimes freezing system :/

    Thanks for help !

Well, after more than 2 days, I still haven't managed to finish a complete test. First time, the system sort of froze after one pass of memtest, second time it was in the middle of the third pass while it did the same. It wasn't really frozen though, because the cross symbol in "memtest + 86" was blinking, but everything else, clock too, was stuck. Btw in those 3 complete passes it made it did not encounter any error.

I don't know what's happening, today I managed to use the pc without a single hard reset (well, except the first one, because memtest wasn't responding to any input). Played a good 6 hours straight, moved a bunch of files around 'cause of the new ssd mounted, and not a single issue.

Some motherboard reviewers are not happy, they have been told "ok you can put up your review.... But you can't mention the price". A factor that is commonly quite important to people :p

Ok, now my laptop isn't even starting up. Was playing again, suddenly I noticed the fans running at max, and went to check hwinfo that was in the background. It registered max temp of 97 for the cpu and 91 for the gpu (with Rocket League), but at the moment it was around 50-60 for both.

Anyway the fans were spinning at max speed with the automatic profile, and fn+1 wasn't doing anything. Had to enter the ccc to be able to select the OC profile and then automatic again, and the fan returned to a normal speed before ramping up again.

I tried a restart to check the uefi settings, the system managed to shut down but it's not starting up. With the ac adapter connected is in a sort of loop where it's trying to start for a second and shuts itself of asap, and it's repeating it. On battery it manages to light up the keyboard and the fans spin, again at max, but there's no signs of life.

I have a second monitor I'll try to hook up, but it seems is not even starting properly now. There's something I can try now? Was thinking about a cmos reset, if it's possible..

Edit: this is what's happening with the ac adapter connected, you can hear the fans when it's trying to boot

i think you better ask from an expert. it may prevent from booting.....if it is me....i wont try this. because i have a real bad experience with a lenovo gaming laptop. i used custom bios. and had to pay 90 euros for replace the bios chip.
may it works, because all resellers sell clevo barebones....
but u may start with risk.....
its better always get a bios backup and read how to reflash old bios if laptop keep doing a boot loop.
my laptop got obsidian custom bios and vbios.
    i have no errors.
i used celvo officials and got no errors too....but i preffer obsidian because they have some tweaks.
i never had this freezing problems.
i got my laptop in last november and always on means 24 hrs on ac current.....gaming movies....bla bla....never turned it off.......cheap laptop pad.....and temps are gpu 42C in gaming CPU 58C in gaming.
may be you have poor cooling? or bad ssd/hdd???

Ok it managed to boot. On battery. It took more than a minute just to display the reseller logo, then again more than that to load Windows. It surely isn't working like it should.

No. I wouldn't try to dare something like that. I messed around in the boot page of the bios, because the usb stick with memtest for some reason wasn't booting in uefi mode. Also tried the default voltage setting for the cpu, was originally setted at 110, I thought maybe it wasn't all that stable and somehow was the reason for the random freezes I experiences, and then this kinda "brick" happened. Now it's back at 110. Did absolutely nothing else in the uefi/bios.

I'll try to restore a system image with all the drivers supplied by obsidian instead of the updated ones (+ a synaptic touchpad driver from years ago), and leave inside only the ssd with which it came.

ok.... all you can do is.....keep the laptop battery off and power line off too... then
    remove bios battery.
then press power button for 30 seconds.......
then put the power line and turn on.......when you get the boot logo....turn off again...keep the pc off for 5 mins
put the bios battery....then all rest
    this may help.
after all re install the bios by obsidian site. remember to download correct version. then it should be fine.

Well, for now it's starting up. Just now on normal shutdown it wrote things in the disk so it took some time but it seems it turned off correctly. On startup is still veeery slow, both with booting up and with loading windows. I'll prefer to try to restore a system image before messing up some more with the bios, and I'll ask obsidian anyway before flashing anything. Thank you. :)

Received a P775DM3-G a few days ago and it's great

I was wondering I need to wait for the Prema bios to be able to install Linux or if there is something I am missing. When I try to boot into a distro, my usb isn't recognized and I am told to insert bootable media.

Hi, I need help installing 2 M.2 drives and 2 SATA SSD drives.

Is the second M.2 slot is below the left fan?

Should i just plug the SATA drives straight to the SATA ports (fit snugly), or should i use the included accessories? I know how to use the clear plastic padding, just dont know what the black film thing does.
Since SSD does not vibrate like HDD, it shouldn't need paddings right?

The one on the right serve the purpose of securing the hdd in place without risking damaging the sata port. You screw it to the drive with the black film between the drive and the laptop chassis, and once it is inserted in the slot, use a screw through the hole in the middle, opposite the sata port, to secure it in place.

Edit: you can see how it works here http://i.imgur.com/5Xd8AN7.jpg

Pacific Time...but don't expect everything to go up at that time. EVOC/Clevo models won't be shipping for a few weeks.

Today I've spoken with obsidian tech support, and they told me that most likely what happened with my laptop yesterday night was caused by the version of control center that I downloaded from clevo directly, which could have messed up with the firmware settings.

I was just wondering how much of a performance bump we can expect with Kaby Lake over Skylake?
