Hello guys, after a few weeks I'm still getting used to this beast, I've never played a game on 1920x1080 before. One thing I noticed is that Nvidia drivers sometimes would have problems such as driver display kernel something, it was fixed after I re-downloaded the driver. I'm guessing it was a Windows 10 problem?
By the way, does ur keyboard gets warm frequently? Because sometimes it would be kinda warm for me, and it also happens when I go to bed with the laptop on hibernate or sleep. I thought this was supposed to happen when I game but it seems like that's not the case.

P.s. How do u guys clean the laptop? I can't stand a spot on my laptop but idk how to clean it because of the matte material... Like I don't know what I should use to wipe those spots clear.

I took-out the battery and just used the power cord plug-in to the wall socket.
Because I did not want to degrade the battery that came with it.
    My question is:

    1) IS IT OK to do that ?
    2) Is there an aftermarket battery cover replacement part? where can I buy it?

    Thanks

    1) No harm but don't bother.
    2) There is no blank cover as there is no reason to not have it in the machine.

Seems to me some ppl want to put a 40% charge on their battery and then store it away. Personally, I'm with meaker, just leave the battery in place will save you problems down the road if you are hit by a power outage, blown fuse, or problem where the PSU/adapter goes out.

However for those who insist on not running on battery, have you tried using electrical tape and covering the battery terminals ? Seems like an easy do-it yourself task to prevent the battery from connecting to the laptop, but leaves the bottom of the laptop intact. Note, you may need to slice and dice the tape if the battery terminals are grooved. Maybe it's not so easy after all.

Okay 1st of all, the same question has been asked by myself last 2 month ago. I understand that it worries you same like it did to me, thinking about the Baterry will be degraded, getting to hot and died someday due to overcharging it. I ask a lot of people about this and then get a confirmation by Clevo (after i emailed them) saying they using a Smart Battery that can manage the power output/input automatically when it full. Also observed my friend Clevo that he has been using it 6 hours everyday for 6 months and surprisingly the Battery condition is good. I'm doing it the same without ever removed the battery and all good so far. :p

Maybe a microfiber cloth as well. Those do a pretty solid job of cleaning a lot of things.

The best thing is to use microfiber cloth, but i have a sweaty palm and it doesnt clean that pretty well. Still it was a better choice to use microfiber cloth.

    Hello guys,

I'm on NP9773, my GPU (980M) is not being detected by my device manager while it shows on my bios. Every solution I've red suggested I fiddle with the bios which I've been doing for hours with no progress, I can't find a way to "switch GPU" or change GPU mode through bios. Please help, this is frustrated as hell.

I have a P770ZM with AMD 8970M GPU. The display brightness controls are not working here. Control Center crashes everytime I open it. Even the Windows brightness controls are not available. Can anyone please suggest a solution?

I know there is a registry fix available for nvidia GPUs with the same problem. Is there a similar fix for an AMD GPU?

The laptop performance is terrible over all, I have no GPU drivers installed as it keeps saying there is no hardware, running games would be a mess so I didn't bother. GPU-Z is not showing it, but when I click look up, it will take me to the 980 page, in HW though, doesn't show it at all.

Every set is different, though the gains past 1866mhz are very small and negative if you don't keep the latencies under check.

I run the SM951 and an EVO 512GB both in the m.2 slots. The SM951 is running the rated speed in PCIe x4 and the EVO is running SATA speed.

I put the OS on the EVO and 2 flight simulators on the SM951. The simulators run perfectly, loads huge files on the fly, and does the job.

Although I ran a benchmark when I first got my P770ZM to be sure both ran at their advertised speeds (which they did), I did not run any benchmarks to see if the SM951 throttled down due to heat. I do have the laptop on a Coolmaster stand with 3 fans and the room I use it in is a constant 68F but I don't know if that plays into it. I can say that after running the simulators for 5 hour nonstop pulling large files on the fly, the program does not slow down nor degrade.

This is my experience with the SM951. I hope it helped you.

Surprisingly not, original plan was to Raid 0 a 2x Crucial MX500 500gb M.2 Sata so i can get a good performance out of it and instead i go for a single SSD for it. 1x 120GB boot drive SSD, and another 512GB i'm using it for Games and Software. Not a good setup imo.

What graphics driver are you all on?

I´ve used 347.88 since I bought it but recently changed to 358.50 to play Battlefront. But that one gave me stutters in Vermintide and I need to change again. I could roll back to 347.88 but if there´s a newer working then why not.
    I´m on Win 8.1 64, haven´t touched Win10.

Edit: Reading up on the matter it seems anything after 347.88 is still playing Nvidia roulette...
I´ll just start at 355.98 and work my way backwards.

Hello guys, I'm here for a really noob question. My csgo used to be really laggy, the whole game just didnt look quite smooth with 75fps, it was even worse than my old sager laptop. After i did some fps drop research on Google, I found out how to set GPU performance to maximum in Nvidia Control Panel. It certainly fixed the weird laggy movement in the game where it caused my eyes to fatigue really quickly but I am wondering why is the game still at around 75 fps sometimes 65. I noticed some streamers with less powerful GPU is playing with 1920x1080(same as me) at 220 fps or so. Is that because they overclocked their GPU or is my GPU acting up in CSGO. I typed CPU_frequency_monitoring 1 in CSGO console and I noticed that I'm using 100% as requested in game. Maybe it's time for me to enter the Batcave and get the Bios from Prema

This because you enabled G-Sync or Vsync to syncronize the Frame rate based on your display refresh rate can handled. If you have a 75Hz monitor/display, having that option enabled will resfresh the Game FPS on that monitor Refresh rate. To get more fps just turn it off then....

Can I ask a stupid question? Apologies if it has already been asked, I've had a quick flick thru 300+ pages on the tapatalk app on my phone but can't see it.... What are the differences between this and the clevo p771dm-g? Is it just the processor model? Is the cooling system the same? Again, I'm sorry if this has been asked already. Thanks.

DM also has HDMI 2.0, where ZM is 1.4. DM has the USB 3.1, where ZM does not. Otherwise, processor and ram are different as mentioned.

HI folks, looking for some advice.

My notebook has held on for longer than I expected but is on its last legs. I am looking to get a Clevo barebones (most likely from R&J as they seem to be the only barebones vendor) and am taking a look at the lineup as compared to my last look in Feb. They look like the same models!

    1. Are new models thought to be right around the corner, so that buying one now is silly?
    2. At the time, I had to go with the 770ZM as I wanted a machine that could output 3D video and that left out any of the machines with a video card with Optimus technology. Is that still the case?
    3. Since February, the 47xx processors seems to have been replaced by the 67xx processors which seem to top out at less than the older 4790k. Is the 4790k still king in performance? Does the 67xx line have other advantages (lower TDP for example??)

edit: Ahhh, I see now. The ZM was replaced with the DM for the new processor family. Has any speed benefit been seen with the new Skylake CPUs?

    4. Why does this forum bring my quad core notebook to its knees?
    5. Have they come out with 120Hz screens yet (so I could do 3D on the laptop's screen).
    6. Are the M.2 slots on the 770 PCIE or SATA?

    Thanks in advance!

edit: I might move this to the DM thread.

I can answer a few of your question.

    1) Yep the newer model already released and with a new Z170 Chipset and DDR4. Why not getting that one...

    2) 770ZM/DM doesnt support Nvidia Optimus but the performance on this machine based on my experience using 3D Maya and After Effect rendering is pretty awesome for a mobile PC. The i7 4790K that i'm using maybe lack on the Core count but heyyy it's a Mobile PC. It works great.

    3) As for the New Skylake 6700k vs 4790K, i can say the different is not noticeable but due to Skylake smaller Die Shrink so less heat is being produce by the 6700K. Performance wise almost the same with mere 5% increase due to skylake DDR4 mainstream.

    6. As for that one, Yes 770ZM/DM has a PCIE capable slot. I think only 1 slot near the GPU. The other slot are M.2 Sata only.

Sorry if some information is not valid, just wrote it based on my experienced :D

I'll clean up 6. a little. For the DM both M.2 slots are PCIe x4 lanes and / or SATA. Your choice.
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_prodetail.asp?id=812&lang=en
That (M key) means that a M keyed PCIe x4 lanes will fit the connector or a B & M keyed SATA will fit too. It also means that a PCIe x2 lanes will not work as it's B keyed only.

    So, got 11-12-11-27 on my ram @ 2400 @jaybee83!!! Ram - 2400.jpg

Edit: Do you know if there is something preventing the system to go over 2400? I try 2667, but even loosening the timings as much as possible, it will not go... :(

Also, XTU was blocking me using timings that low. Recommendation, if you have a Prema BIOS, uninstall XTU entirely!!! Use throttlestop or the BIOS to set everything!

PREMA made it easy. Easier than stock BIOS. His is a one step process. Create bootable USB with Rufus, place BIOS on it. In your BIOS disable UEFI and boot from USB drive. Type Step1, which is meset. Restarts and boot from USB again, and type step 2. Flashes BIOS and EC all in one step, after finish, remove power and battery for 10 seconds. Then reboot, you're all done.

Personally I'm using MySN's latest BIOS and Intel XTU.

You have the instructions. But I do an unplug of 30+ seconds. It is to reset the ec. But yes, it's that easy.

After flashing the BIOS, unplug the power as I posted above, and remove battery. He waits for 30 seconds, I did 10-15 seconds. That allows for reset, and when you boot first time, go into BIOS and choose reset to default first before making changes in BIOS.

I believe if you want to reset the EC, the battery does need to be removed. I like to unplug the battery and AC AND hold the power button while it is unplugged from the wall and battery to really reset the EC.

This is what we tell people to do to reset EC.
