is that the same IPS as the Alienware 17?

@jaybee83 I read through the rules and I was wondering with so many test available how you are going to do the rankings. I think it would be best to base it off of an average score between two bench marks. One that uses a lot of vram and one that doesn't.

nobody says u have to go through them all choose your favorite benchmark and post the results, thats it if anyone wants to compete in a different bench, then shes/hes free to do so

oh man, I can't wait for my new memory to arrive finally. My current ones are pretty crappy. (it's 1333MHz CL9, and I had to downgrade it to 10-10-10-31, because I suspect it did cause some BSODs before)
Edit.: G.Skill 2133 MHz kit incoming -

Ok guys going to take my batman from a single 850 to raid 0 2x 850 pro. I'm new to setting up raid 0 and a little unsure about the correct bios settings to use. Can anyone tell me how they set it up and also how to properly wipe a drive to factory state. I know I can use the hot plug method but that's not exactly easy considering I would need the laptop to be open for that. Any advice and or steps explaining what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the controller is in RAID mode and there is no data you want on either hard drive. Go into the raid menu (either in the bios or a boot screen you will now see as you are in raid mode) and set the drives into a raid config, stripe size wont make much difference so set it to 128k. Once setup you should just be able to install windows to it.

Thanks @Meaker if I have any problems I'll post.

Replaced the thermal pad for the Vram both under the card and above with Phobya and used Phobya nanogrease extreme for the core.
Also the only IPS offer so far is the LG is disappointing, pass on that.
What panel does Asus G75 use? -

Do you guys recommend setting the raid setup to UFEI or not?
Edit also is there anything special I should know about installing via thumb drive? I know windows 7 had issues but I'm assuming windows 8 should work flawlessly?
Edit: well crap now I've got a new copy of windows installed but it is not raid 0. Only one drive is showing up. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. For those of you who have the raid set up properly do you mind telling me how you did it?
I have gone into the bios as set the sata type to raid. Then booted from usb with UFEI turned on. When I get to select the drives they are not set up in raid. I've installed on a single drive figuring I could always do it through disk management but since it is a boot drive I can't do it that way. Why on earth is it not showing up as a raid volume after setting it as such in bios. I also made sure to install the raid drivers before installing windows on the disk. I'm lost. Any help would be really appreciated.Last edited: Mar 19, 2015 -
If I recall correctly, people have mentioned that there are only 2 IPS displays in production right now for 17.3.
Curious if it's the same one as in the AW17, as I really like it. -
superkyle1721 Notebook Evangelist
Don't know about that but has similar specs to the TN panel currently. Just better viewing angles due to IPS.

Edit: Third way would be ghetto but it works too. Install OS with AHCI and install all the drivers Chipset, IRST ... then after you did that set RAID Mode in BIOS, it will propably BSOD the OS, but if you can force the OS to actually display the text "Attempting automatic repair" (dunno exactly how it's worded using the german Win8.1) you can reboot into safe mode, it should work, after you booted into safe mode, just reboot normally and it should work now too as RAID and set up the rest in the IRST Software.superkyle1721 likes this. -

Thank you for your reply. As soon as I get back from out of town I will try again. I tried doing the software raid but since it is a boot drive you can't do it that way. I also wanted to make sure I was installing it in UEFI to get the increased boot time but under that mode ctrl I didn't work. I'll play around with it and once I figure it out I'll PM jaybee and get him to add it to the first page.

just saw that there are actually RAID Drivers on the Driver CD wich you can use to install the OS as you can see in my adress bar
edit:
btw Hotkey Driver 3.11.24 adds a new option to the Fan Profile Settings, but kills the Keyboard LED Control e.g. FN+* for turn Light on/off.
don't have values but it seems like it's the same as automatic but if CPU is getting to about 70-75 °C the fan ramps up instantly to max.Last edited: Mar 19, 2015ajc9988 likes this. -

I personally like it, it's nice. Then again, I'm no graphics pro. -
Just wanted to say that my -S model has been delayed until after the next shipment arrives on 2 April. Nothing to do about it except weep

Anandtech has a good article on overclocking a P770ZM: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9087/clevo-p750zm-gtx-980m-overclocking-investigated
The article mostly focuses on GPU overclocking as the author notes that overclocking the 4790K may introduce some cooling issues. I found the section on power requirements very enlightening. I think most people - myself included - assumed that a 230W power supply would be more than sufficient. However, the power usage charts show otherwise. If you are heavily overclocking both the 4790K and the 980M, you are probably exceeding the power ratings on the 230W block.
I am not trying to be a party pooper. I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. -

If overclocking both the CPU and GPU then yes you'll want the 330w upgrade. But if you're not overclocking, then the stock 230 will handle it.

So as always it depends on what you are doing with the machine and how far you intend to push it. -
Anyone here already own a Eurocom P5/P7 that could answer some questions for me from an owners perspective please...?
I'm across the Pond in the UK and looking to run Vegas 12(+) on a dedicated portable workstation. I'm attracted to the upgradeability of this machine and having a condensed desktop environment to allow some serious computing power that is completely portable.
cheers -

OK so what did you want to ask in relation to that?
Mr Najsman and jaybee83 like this. -
Is there anyway of customising the fan profiles that hotkey uses, or even a different program to do that job?
I'm pretty sure I could create a better profile than the stock versions.
Oh and anyone know what the XMG profile gives in the latest release?
Cheers -
