Once you get the hang of it, it really is quite easy. Especially on a machine like this one, where four screws removes the bottom panel.
And you don't have to worry too much about the quality of your paste job. Most reviews have shown that the difference between a decent/good paste job and the absolute best is minor.
So long as you use some good TIM (IC Diamond, Gelid Extreme/Supreme, etc.) and you don't do a bad paste job, you'll be fine.

The better pastes should not need re-doing on a regular basis either.

Yes, IC diamond can change consistency when it comes to remove it but the performance did not degrade for me.

that doesnt remove the need to clean out the dust inside the machine besides, who can resist opening up the machine every once in a while? i know i cant

1. If RST is installed, write cache buffer/flushing may fail
2. Also, there are some issues specifically with RST ver. 12.6.0.1033 and 12.8.10.1005 (e.g., authentication)ajc9988 likes this. -

I am having a weird issue with the the Microsoft wireless mouse , after few minutes (like 10 min or so) the mouse movement start to getting slow and delay, while my settings are OK:
New mouse batteries, clean OS no viruses, updated mose drivers from Microsoft, changed the USB port, even restored the machine to an earlier point where no programs installed and still facing the slowing movement after few minutes from running the Windows.
I googled a bit and found some ppl facing the same problem and they suggest to change the COMS battery or it might be a HDD failure. Could this be correct while the laptop just new? Thanks

Interesting, sky dlx7 have only the 4k screen available and is the only other laptop with GTX 980. Yet my order is a GTX 980 on a 1080p screen. Are laptop screens detachable from the chassis?
Regarding overclocking, is the max safe Vcore for skylake still around 1.4v same as the desktop for 24/7 runs? What types of VRM setup did Clevo use for the motherboard? Do we get any type of LLC or VRM controls in XTU or perhaps Perma's BIOS?

I am in Colombo Sri Lanka, I just received a Sager NP9758s. I ordered it w 2 x 256 sm951, but Samsung magician in showing 1 950 pro and an unidentifiable ssd drive along with the travlestar. Device manager shows 2 950's? I work 7 12's and have not been able to open and verify. interesting. I have 2 x 512 950's coming and plan to raid them. Any thoughts?
Also I am looking for the service manual as I have an LTE/4g module coming, and will need to string some antennas into the machine. any guidance? I found the service manual at tech inferno however I don't have time/things to talk about for 5 meaningful posts, perhaps someone has the manual and is willing to repost here for the community as a public service. Thanks TD by the way I asked that the Sager logo not be put on the lid - it looks awesome.
currently migrating for a clevo 900F it just got to heavy. -

If you have Intel RST on the computer, that usually shows drives more accurately than device manager or hard disk manager (better at showing drives in raid configuration). Or a program like hwinfo should be able to show them as well.

Hey folks! Thought I'd post a couple (well, three) issues I'm having, in the event anyone else is:
First off, problems with the Killer 1535 card. The Ethernet portion works fine, but the WiFi is essential non-functional (I've confirmed it's not my router or internet service). The WiFi radios will connect to my router and the signal never actually drops, but there is nearly 100% packet loss. I'll get occasional bursts of full throughput, after which it will drop back down to a few kilobytes per second. This happens almost 100% of the time with the 5ghz radio, and about 20% of the time on the 2.4ghz band. I'm about ten feet away from the router.
I've installed every version of driver for the card, including a barebones driver with none of the Killer Software, but nothing has fixed the issue. I'm starting to suspect it's a hardware failure on the card itself.
So I ended up ordering an Intel 8260 from Amazon which arrived today - I have an upcoming trip for the next couple weeks and WiFi access will be essential, so I couldn't wait for a fix on the 1535. The 8260 worked out of the box - mostly. The connection (both 2.4 and 5 ghz) is rock-solid, but it caps out at ~26 Mbps, which I believe is "Wireless G". The link speed says it's capped at 54 Mbps. I've installed the Clevo/Sager drivers for the 8260, as well as the latest 8260 drivers, to no avail. I've dug through the device properties in Device Manger looking to enable the wireless AC - or at least the wireless N - speeds, but can't find such a feature.
So either somehow I purchased a knock-off 8260 (the device describes itself as an 8260 in Device manager, not sure if that's easy to 'spoof' though), or there's further trouble with this. There seems to be scant information on the 8260 at the moment on account of it's shiney newness.
The final item is a BSOD caused by SynTP.sys - the Synaptic touchpad driver. This has hapenned twice now, and I have the DMP file for the most recent occurrence. Apparently the P650SEs are having the same issue, and that may be a very similar driver: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/synaptics-causes-bsod-on-p650se.770938/ . I have the DMP files if anyone wants to take a look.
Otherwise, great laptop!! I haven't done any overclocking yet, but have a feeling there's gonna be some really good headroom to do so. Some early benchmarks:
i6700k, GTX980, Neither are overclocked. Running the latest "Sager official" NVidia driver: 354.35. Max fans for all tests.
Firestrike: 8848 overall, graphics: 10032 - GPU max temp was 55*c (highest I've ever seen it was 61*C running the Unigine Valley test on max everything)
wPrime 2.10 (8 threads / 1024): 199.4 seconds - average core temp was 85*c
If you have requests for specific benches let me know and I'll post. -
The P75xDM and P77xDM laptop layouts and dimensions look very similar to the P75xZM and P77xZM layouts and dimensions with the exception of the USB 3.1/Type C port. Has anyone attempted to upgrade the ZM motherboard with the DM board?

Until Samsung (or maybe even Microsoft) updates their NVMe drivers, the only way to get 950's in RAID is to use RST with Microsoft's NVMe driver. The drawback is that Microsoft's driver is pretty basic, which means RAID performance for 950's is the same as a single 950 for now. Plus, it will show up as an Intel software array. Overall, no net performance improvement for 950's in RAID 0 for now (but hopefully soon). -
@bfishman
Your issues with the Killer card make it sound like it's a faulty card - I'd RMA it. I have the same card, no issues whatsoever, worked out of the box (though I only installed the drivers, not the Killer Suite.
Or, it might be one of those occurrences where your wifi card and router don't like each other. This happens on a regular basis. -
if i'm not planning on doing any video games or 3d modeling, is it worth it to get the 980 over the 970? i'm going to be running three 4k monitors
Last edited: Nov 17, 2015 -
And you get 300$ extra in your pocket which you can put into better storage solutions, RAM, CPU, whatever you need most.
EDIT, I didn't read so good! I thought you meant 3 or 4K monitors, not 3 x 4K monitors.
That being said I still think the 970M can handle that with no issues but I don't have the experience so it's best to wait for more opinions.clevo4k likes this. -

@clevo4k: depends what u do at that insane total resolution *lol* first check if three 4k display are even possible, not sure about that. secondly, desktop work shouldnt be a biggie, but anything gpu intensive would be a no go, even on 980M sli...

All supported at 60Hz.
I agree that if you aren't doing any gaming, modeling or any other GPU-intensive task, a 970M is more than sufficient.
I mean, an Intel iGPU is enough to power a single 4K display when not doing any graphically-intensive work, and the 970M is what, 15 times more powerful?Last edited: Nov 17, 2015 -

You might want to step down to the P650SE if you requirements are not that high, you can still get the 3x 4k display outputs.

Is the sound blaster audio in this comptuer hardware driven by a soundcard or is it software?

I do have crack sounds no matter what Realtek driver I install and it appears only when using laptop speakers, with headphone it disappear. Thank you

Is this normal (In XTU the processor cache frequency jumps between 0.9 GHz and 4.0 GHz)?
I have uploaded a YouTube video if anyone could identify if I have a defected laptop or its software issues, as I'm having many issues in sound, heat and mouse. I am not aware that much with hardware so thank you for your support.
Thank you

Hi, anyone else having problem updating their machines running windows 10 to update to the latest drivers?
Everytime I try to install the nvidia setup does not detect "compatible hardware".
my specs are:
Windows 10 pro
i7 6700k
gtx 970m
32gb ram.
I'm really pulling my hair here. Even did a clean install and the problem is still not fixed.
machine works great with the auto drivers install (nvidia driver version 354.09), but freakin EA has made it a requirement to update the driver to 358.50 and above to play Star wars Battlefront.
anyone have a solution? Or do we have to wait weeks till clevo/sager/nvidia/microsoft fix the issue? -
@yusufamin 771 or 751 model?
The hw id for the gpus in 750/751 models have not been added to nvidia drivers yet. I am in the same boat atm. -
any news on when this will be fixed? -
The drivers for win10/7 are the same package and they do not have what it takes
On the other hand, you can get a modded inf from laptopvideo2go and install latest drivers (with driver signature enforcement turned off).
I have opened a support ticket with nvidia letting them know about this missing id situation and they are looking into it. The ticket is still open.

You have options to download the driver package and inf file. It's pretty straight forward with precise information. Just go on the website.
Do not make a new post for every bit of information you want to write. Just edit your previous post, especially if it is the last post in the thread.
And yes, I am running latest drivers 358.91 with modded inf.yusufamin likes this.
