I propose we all take a shot everytime someone asks this (I myself have asked it :p )

It's simply the color of the read vents. 770 has them in piano black and 771 in straight black.

This is the same way with about any of the Clevo offerings right now. The differences between 0 and 1 models is just going to be the exterior finish.

I really have to do the screw mod, i noticed when running 4.7ghz my temps are differ up to 12 °C and Wow about 3000 mem clocks, i barely see 980m doing over +400 due to low voltage chips in them

yes, same here @screwmod! that and lapping are on my todo list, should make for a nice bump in everyday clocks and drop in benching temps :)

good question... iirc superkyle's was around 10.6k, papusan no idea. maybe we should ask them directly :D any input on this @Papusan @superkyle1721 ?

Should be @superkyle1721, trying to find the best scores on FS over 11K. Jaybee has an older one for you before you crossed that threshold. Just seeing if you have time to chime in...

Also, on my benchmark numbers, think of win 7 legacy vs 8.1 and 10 with all their telemetry and spying in the background, including multiple programs monitoring every resource. I noticed the physics scores weren't heavily effected, but the gpu score jumps were huge, three runs all above 5300 from 4200 after installing a **** ton of benchmark software and games. Note- I did something that effects my ability to change certain folder name's or for file explorer to recognize some paths. Have to track down that error in my mod. I'll post stock numbers when the 4790k comes in. Building custom OS and troubleshooting is a hassle but can boost numbers. Just don't get rid of components or apps you need. Also, I got rid of edge entirely, and ie11 is hidden, so yeah...

Received my p770dm i7-6700k 980m this past Friday and loving it so far. A few things left to figure out like why Samsung 850 Pro slightly slower than reported benchmarks after optimization, but even more pressing, has anyone with a Killer 1535 managed to get wireless to work on Ubuntu 15.10? There are some instructions on the Killer website but they don't work. Thanks.

ah yes, the old killer issues on linux...not really news that one :) afaik linux users have gone with the intel model just because of this!

as for your 850 pro: i dont recommend doing that os optimization in magician, it actually slows down your performance by about 15%! better to optimize manually, e.g. by following the respective guide posted by thessdreview.com :)

Anyone else with a P770DM, can you test this out for me?

Try pressing down on the front left corner of the notebook with the lid open (to the left of the touchpad, 2 inches below the ONKYO logo), do you hear some clicking? Or is it just me?

Tracked it down the the moderboard flexing on an empty HDD bay, switched my 2.5'' HDD to that bay and now it's no longer clicking. Downside is that the palmrest gets slightly warmer.

Which bay are you using? Now that I've switched my HDD to the second bay (the horizontal one, closest to the edge) I've been noticing it's a lot noisier! Clicking regularly

I received my P771DM the other day (Eurocom Sky X6) and so far very pleased with it. I was even able to overclock the display to 85Hz successfully, but I will leave it at 75Hz for now.

A few things that I've noticed so far that may help others:

    - using both DisplayPorts, you have to check in the BIOS that the "DCI to DP" is enabled (by default for me it was set to DCI to TB3 or something like that). Basically some kind of output setting, defaulted to the Thunderbolt port, but I wanted to use both DP ports.

    - I was able to drive 4 external displays by daisy chaining DisplayPort (3 24" Dell U2414 1080p and one 27" ASUS MG279Q 1440p)

    - installing Windows 7 -> this part was very problematic for me, in order to even get the USB stick with Win7 to boot, I had to disable UEFI and format the USB drive with MBR (rather than GPT), and then it kept complaining about USB drivers even after I used that AsRock USB 3.1/Z170 patch and tried slipstreaming drivers into the ISO manually. After some searching, I found a post on Reddit that worked successfuly for me. I used an older laptop I had lying around (very easy and quick to swap out HDDs versus a desktop). Basically install Win7 until the reboot phase in another computer, then swap out HDD back into the Clevo laptop, boom Win7. Worked flawlessly for me.

Weird. Maybe try using only one at a time, to rule the faulty one out.

Another question about headphones. How many ohms can the Clevo handle?
I was thinking of getting the Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro but I can only get the 250ohm version near where I live, could the Clevo drive them ok?

I blv this will be needing a dedicated amp to power-up the250 ohms for a full fledged sound experiance, not sue about the soundcard in p771 yet, still I blv you will receive a decent quality of the sound, but if decided to go with the external usb, sound blaster x-fi hd, defiantly you will feel the deference with your 250 ohms headphone.

    Thanks.
I'm really torn between the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro or the Razer Tiamat 7.1.

They are absolutely different, the Beyers have more quality sound but I'm kinda curious about the Tiamats seeing as they are so comfortable, cool looking and have 10 drivers with surround sound. I wanted to take advantage of the P770DM's sound card.

What are you intend to do with the headphone? Gaming or for music projects?

For Music: I blv DT 770 is much better and you may choose 250 ohms if u have a dedicated amp, or you may go with the 80 ohms if have no amp as low ohms will make feel more the bass.
(DT770 intended to be used more with studios as a monitor headphone)

if you want to benefit from both "studio quality & bass management" you may also check audio technica m50x it will give you more bass over the DT770, as in studios they don't care much about the bass as more about low-mid-high ranges quality.

For Games: I think Razer Tiamat maybe better, as it gives you a clear sound on each channel, which what gamers will be interested more (hear the background effects between players)

To simplify your selection, you may look to it like this:
    - Less ohms w/ amp = more bass but loosing some quality of either any of the low-mid-high range sounds depending on the headphone device quality, which used in normal headphones range between 32 ohms to 80 ohms more or less.
    - More ohms w/ amp = less bass but richer sound, but if added the amp to it you will be in heaven. which pro users in studios using.

Thanks for all the help guys!
I have a pair of Sony MDR-1A which I use and love for music, I'll probably go with the Tiamats for gaming.

Yeah not ebola but dandruff and **** like that. Whats hilarious is that most stores still have headphone pairs on display for people to try out.
    Stupid health and safety...

the DT770 should work just fine, i'm using the DT 990 Pro some years now and they worked flawless on my previous P771ZM so i guess the DM doesn't have problems either.

Hello! How long does it normally take for p750dm to boot up? Using 6700k and sm951 it usually takes around 20seconds. Is there something wrong with my configuration? (I disabled the fast boot, is that the case?)

I am using the alpha dog, which are 50ohm, and volume is very limited. You should consider purchasing a USB amp/dac if you are serious about your sound.

Is anyone successfuly rocking 7.1 on the DM? I can't get the Razers configured, have been around it for quite some time now. I don't have front or rear sound...

    *EDIT
Did it! Just had to RTFM, the online version.

Click the folder icon on the Realtek sound manager - enable pop up windows.
Configure each speaker as you connect it
    success!

My p770dm arrived this evening and I've been messing around on it a bit. Seem to be able to overclock screen to 100hz without problem. 110 caused a black screen. Played a little deus ex human revolution. Haven't had a gaming capable laptop for a long time. Really liking it so far.

For headphones, I've tested several and I use the AKG K7xx from Massdrop, they're phenomenal for everything I have used so far. If you're on a budget, I can also recommend the Superlux HD-681 or the JVC HA-S680, both are super cheap to get here through Amazon (about $40-$50).

Regarding screen overclock, how do you test if it's stable? I created a custom resolution with 100Hz and I was able to play games with G-Sync fine, but I only did so for like.. maybe 20 minutes?

Hello! Anyone tried using xtu to overclock the cpu? When I tweak it up to 4.3, it only lasts through benchmarks and when I launch a game it all restores to default. Restarts do that too. Anyone have the same problem? Is it a bios issue?

After Apply you need to Save to a Profile name for it to set at boot time.

If you are getting problems with stability at a higher multiplier setting, try increasing voltage for CPU and cache, in small 25mV increments - it may take a few.

My 5950HQ needs +105mV at 4.2 x4 to be stable in all operations. Kinda high, but temps are low, so no problems.

Try using High Performance power setting, it's easier to see Max multiplier settings changes. If on Balanced the CPU will try to downclock whenever it can, it makes it hard to see the highest multiplier setting currently set as it won't hit that unless under load.

Weird. The moment a game (in my case I tried heroes of the storm and elder scrolls) launches, the multiplier reverts to default.

Forgive me if this is the wrong thread for this but,Does Clevo produce custom design for cyberpowerpc? See they're cashing in on the desktop Cpu in a mobile train looks different from the Pxxxx,Externally atleast. Resembles an MSI design.

Not meant as an off topic just wondering if its a variant of the Pxxxxxx

Windows 10 installed on a SSD should boot in under 10 seconds.
