On prema's site the 751dm-g is listed as soon, for vbios. Tried the files there already and ended up in an error. Not the usual ID mismatch.

Flashing anything other than the files meant for your particular model will quickly lead to bricking the machine.

Nobody has found original BIOS for P771DM -G ?
The XMG BIOS blew my guarantee... -

În the vbios section even though the DM models are listed they are mentioned as SOON. That means it's not compatible yet. Right?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
as i was saying before, i am talking about the vBios NOT the system bios! the vbios is for mxm card, thus its independent from the model of machine you have, as long as its a clevo!
check this link: https://biosmods.wordpress.com/gtx9/
its for the non-gsync version of clevo mxm 980M gpus. there is another vbios for gsync versions.
the one you previously quoted as "soon" is the SYSTEM bios mod, and that one is indeed specific for each and every laptop model.
the discussed gpu throttling can be fixed by flashin the linked vbios version, it does not have anything to do with the system bios.
again: as long as you sport an mxm 980M, the only two things u have to discern is if ure sporting a clevo / alienware model and if its gsync or not.
BUT: if your DM 980M gpus sport neither the already known gsync or nongsync IDs from the previous ZM models, then there might still be some tweaking necessary from prema's side...
edit: just noticed this post sounds a bit harsh, didnt mean it that way just wanted to be sure there are no misunderstandings here in the middle of an experiment here, so my mind is a bit elsewhere

I own a gsync model. That's what I keep saying. Vbios is listed as soon, right?
And yes the gsync 980m in the new DM models has new id's that prema did not put in the already existing mods.
Later edit: see this comment from the master himself

right, so they indeed use new IDs! thx for the link i wonder why that is.... i mean, the skylake chipset shouldnt make the difference, and everything else is pretty much the same.

hmm i don't know what i should do right now, my P751DM feels like a false super saiyan to me, it has the physical power but i can't unleash it to the full potential. Can't get the Display(s) i want, Reseller still don't know about the new ID 980M and i'm just sitting here and thinking about selling my P751DM already and getting a P771DM-G instead cause i heard already that the LG in the 771 mostly do 100hz out of the box which is tempting me very much i just can't get over the Input delay i get when playing on that beast most noticeable in GW2. Don't even want to mod my heatsink yet cause i dunno maybe i have to return it again when the real Gsync 980Ms are true story. decisions decisions
Edit: in CS:GO UT99 (yeah the old one) and Wildstar Input lag isn't that hard like in GW2 but still very noticeable at least for me.ajc9988 likes this. -
I play gw2 also

In those games you just gotta deactivate gsync. I cant play cs go with it on, the 980 is easily surpassing 250 fps.
Maybe with fps_max 100 (or whichever is your refresh rate) it gets better, Ive yet to try itLast edited: Oct 28, 2015 -

Does it look normal? I have a feeling it could do better. -

Can you link your results? Or just tell me the scores per category if you remember, graphics, physics and combined.
I am running 354.09 drivers. -
When will we be able to install new drivers? This is a weird issue, BIOS related?

And a huge difference on the CPU tests because of the huge frequency difference and probably hyperthreading.

If it's not, I still don't get it.

nah not for you, forum just acted up again it seems
-
Yes, but on the total combined score the cpu doesn´t have much of an effect. As i said before, from 4.0ghz to 4.5 ghz i only get more 100 points on the final score. -
hyperthreading has a large impact on 3dmark, so that combined with the 500mhz difference could do the trick...
hey samot, u could possibly deactivate HT and adjust for the clock difference via xtu / premamod, see how much that impacts the score.
also, check ur ram configs (single/dual channel), ram speeds and timings, could also make some difference, albeit a small one.

My graphics score is practically identical Samots.

I think that 3dmark doesn't read it correctly. It shows full clock speeds in gpuz running in the background, I check pwr throttle with it and yes it throttles.
Same thing with the cpu, sometimes it shows @ 3.2, other times at 2ghz. Somewhat random I'd say, let alone the fact that it doesn't properly recognize the cpu

just downloading Firestrike will report back and edit the result in, maybe i can break @jaybee83 almost 11k this time
edit: stock 8913Last edited: Oct 28, 2015 -
please do, i dare you would already be nice if someone with a ZM/DM could break 10.8k

hey i did about 10.5k but couldn't push further right now i just doing a dirty 4.5ghz cpu and 1382mhz gpu. This time i have a 76,8% ASIC 980M before i only had 71,x% and i know ASIC blahblah but i don't give my hopes up
Edit: 10644 i get 11k you will see (i hope)
Edit2: 10761 gpu @ 1416/2906 @ cpu 4.5
Edit3: 10849 gpu @ 1426/2906 @ cpu 4.6Last edited: Oct 28, 2015 -
My best run: 10683 - gpu 1476 core / 2905 ram / +137.5mv / [email protected]
Edit: corrected the clocks. Firestrike doesn´t report correctly the applied clocks. Luckily i have all the data on a spreadsheet.Last edited: Oct 28, 2015 -
boom! good job there @Scerate, about time someone busted my 10792 fs score cmon dude, push that cpu to 4.8 ghz, u can do it
also, +300 on the core, u kidding me?! cmon, i wanna see at least +450! and +500 on the vram
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
i scratch on the 11k and tiny bit over mark, but @ 1450 my gpu get's very *****y, cpu tho 4.8ghz np skylake is great and that without any mods yet
Bullrun, ajc9988, jaybee83 and 1 other person like this. -
yes, skylake seems to clock as well as haswell but can handle higher voltages much better tempwise. was a good decision to get those VRMs off the cpu pcb!
my highest gpu score was at the 12550 mark, whereas cpu was around 13.3k iirc. that was at 4.8 ghz so it looks like skylake has a nice little advantage in fs

nah 4.7cpu is max @ 4.8 my Power Supply just went out

lol then get urself the 330W! no cheap excuses!
btw, heres my best run (gpu core at 1416 Mhz, gpu-z is funny that way...):

It was much easier to get to 10850 than on my ZM before, sure now i'm already on the limit but before i get a 330w i decide if selling my P751DM and get a P771DM, i know i sound like a spoiled brat but 60hz are so 1990 for me
Ok doing the last run for today 4.7ghz cpu and gpu @ 1442
Edit: this gpu almost does 40mhz more than my previous 980m which is nice -
lol, spoiled refresh rate brat indeed!
and yes, the lower temps at higher voltages plus that ~5-7% physics boost clock for clock does indeed help a lot
@AJC you mean for a phoenix right? i doubt ull be able to max out the 330W adapter with your zm, no matter how high u oc everything...

yep, same here with 1476, asic 71,x%. doesnt really say jack about an individual card
cmon scerate, give us that 11k dammnit!
edit: scratch that 1476, its actually 1416, so theres even LESS connection to the ASIC

10953 cpu 4.7ghz gpu 1426/2915
*whistles push it too the limit music*
Edit: 10993 cpu 4.7 gpu 1446/2915
come on
edit2: nope sadly it's the limit it seems pushing the gpu a bit further with +87.5mV results in a blackscreen and beeping when trying to booting up, but i guess i can do the 11k when Prema brings out his bios so that i can finally tweak some ram settings, i bet i get easily out 100-200 points with that alone.Last edited: Oct 28, 2015 -

wow seriously? thats a crazy bump just based on OS tweaking!
btw scerate, congratz! now uve got me beaten on both gpu and physics score and those 7 points are just a fluke, repeat that bench 1-2 times and maybe ull just get lucky with an 11k+ score
also, that black screen are your power phases giving out on you, the 980M just cant get enough juice at those clocks....
btw, i was wrong before - my gpu can do 1416 on core and 3016 on vram before blacking out.
