I beg your pardon I was getting g my threads mixed up, at sager, any g-sync based model should do as the source.

    hey guys,

I am trying to decided between Batman 2.0 and the Eurocom Sky MX5/Clevo P650RE3 which has either; i7-6820HK or i7-6700HQ. The 45W cpus are not really a concern as much as the soldered graphics cards.

The 980m is only 75W and comes in either 4GB & 8GB version, will there be a major performance loss in the soldered cards? are there any benchmarks that show the performance between the soldered vs MXM cards?

Here is the link for Eurocom Sky MX5:

soldered and mxm versions are performing exactly the same. ull only notice some performance differences with the different cpus, since the 980M does indeed profit from any kind of cpu power it can get its grip on :)

CPU is G-Sync ready, Xeons are not. Which screen is in it? HWInfo64 will show that information.

Apparently the soldered cards have a significant portion of their cache disabled? can anyone confirm this? how could they perform the same if the MXM has an extra 25W?

And would the i7-6820HK or i7-6700HQ be enough of a bottleneck to pair them with a 970m instead?

the advantage of having a gpu soldered directly into the mainboard is lower power requirements and thus a less massive cooling solution. thats why this step is taken to realize thinner gaming notebooks. u can have exactly the same hardware with a smaller TDP footprint integrated in less space with identical performance. im not sure, but iirc one downside of bga gpus was worse overclocking ability than their mxm brothers. please anyone correct me if i got smth mixed up there :)

In the nvidia panel can you see that the screen it compatible with g-sync ? :

How did you install that version of the driver ? The last update for me is the 354.09, win10 installed it for me. So maybe it's a problem with the driver so try to uninstall it and install the one from clevo's website : http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...the-new-batcave.776183/page-145#post-10114258

It's a mix of firmware, panel ID and drivers. I would send it back, the wrong base may have been used for your order.

I was wondering is it possible to fit a dvd/blu ray drive to p771dm at a later date if needed rather than buying an external one?

Iirc correctly the only advantage of BGA is that you dont have the socket, thus the DIE is closer to the mainboard, enabling an even flatter design. Flat designs contradict with cooling, thus those get TDP-limited even more.

Manufacturers gain the additional "advantage" that users can not upgrade. ;)

Le magasin ou tu l'as acheté a du faire un mic mac avec l'écran, le GPU et la carte mère donc au final impossible de detecter le G-Sync, tu devrais le rendre et leur demander de verifier ca, c'est eux qui ont merdé.

In english : sent it back to your reseller.

Essaye de trouver le bios d'origine, il doit y avoir écrit "style note" quand tu boot le pc.

In english : Try to install the original bios before sending back the computer, the default Clevo splash is "style note".

Sorry I don't know where to find the original bios. You don't make a dump of it before flashing ? Did you check in the dvd given with the computer if there is the bios ?

I bought my computer in the same store than you but I installed my self windows and drivers. They say to me that they modify the inf file to install the last version of the nvidia driver. So maybe it's because of that ? Do you try to remove the driver properly and install the one from the dvd ?

I think it comes from the graphics card. Just now the computer is extinguished suddenly and graphics card not detected. I will ask a new PC. Can anyone send me the bios P771DM -G quickly?

    f someone has a P771DM -G 's BIOS backup I can put it?

I am very happy with my unit I got from mysn.eu but am having a few issues running virtualization software VMWare Workstation and Virtualbox. Virtualbox give me a fatal error kernel security BSOD error. VM Workstation fails to install any Ubuntu 15.x and Kali isos. I have tested the same ISOs on my old machine and they work. I've reinstalled Windows several times and am wondering if I just got a lemon or if it's just a BIOS problem (I'm on the current latest 1.05.01 I believe).

Anybody able to install Virtualbox on Windows 10 x64 or run Ubuntu 15.x in VMWare Workstation?

There is an option in the bios regarding the battery.i don't remember the name correctly but enabling it, it says that in time the battery meter will degrade and remaining time will not be accurate. Anybody know what that is?

ah yes thats probably that new battery function xmg was talking about: u can set upper and lower charging limits in order to protect the battery from wearing out. i.e. u can set 40-60% and thats the range ur psu will charge and discharge the battery at. naturally, your battery meter wont be accurate anymore ;)

FlexiCharger - Is a new standard Clevo has set for the Skylake generation - Is supposed to reduce the amount of useless charge/decharge cycles the notebook suffers when used several month with the PSU plugged in and therefor prevent the battery from being damaged. - Can be configured in the BIOS - Explanation example:

o Battery is at 100% most of the time.
    -
But due to physics the charge may drop to 99% by itself.
    -
Or: people might unplug the PSU for just a minute, e.g. to move the laptop from Desk #1 to Desk #2 (or something like that)
o 99% battery charge immediately activates the charging circuit to go to 100% again
o This leads to many unnecessary charging cycles which might decrease the lifetime/quality of the battery over time

Hi all, I'm looking at buying this laptop when the i7k becomes available, but was just curious about cpu temps. Is between 70 and 85 degrees OK for longevity? I don't want to buy one and have the cpu burn out after a couple of years. Usage wise, I'm probably going to be using it for gaming probably 5 days a week for 2 or 3 hours at a timing. Thanks

85° should only apply after heavy oc'ing at best. Assumed that pasting was done correctly. ;)
It is said that Haswell runs much more like a furnace in comparison to Skylake. So it should be an improvement in terms of heat. Other than that nothing below 90° should harm the CPU anyway.

OK no worries, thanks for that. I was basing those temps on the Haswell in the original batman to be honest. The gpu temps of mid 60's is great, it was just the cpu temps scaring me slightly. I'm used to desktops rather than laptops, that's all.

Please have a look @jaybee83 great guide of da original Batman -> http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...owner´s-lounge-welcome-to-the-batcave.767105/

There you get an Impression how "cool" Haswell is running in his rig. Even if using "only" GC Extreme or ICD without delidding, temps should be fine in Batman 2.0 either.
