So I should Flash EC (can be done in OS)
then flash BIOS (make sure versions match; done outside OS)
then flash vBIOS (version doesnt matter? ; done in OS)
Also, the 2 finger scrolling is really buggy on mine, how is yours?

You can get rid of that vrrr bug by putting a custom fan profile in idle and while playing just put automatic again.

Same bios as you, buggy in the way that if my fingers are close to each other (<1cm) scrolling is indeed laggy

    Thank you.

Just to be clear. My options now are:

    a) Buy new PX-256M6G-2280, so i'd have a 2 x PX-256M6G-2280 (m.2 sata) to store one win 8.1 x64 each. Configuring them in raid 0 or not would depend on the mentioned overhead for the controller.
    b) Buy new PX-G256M6e (which is pci-e 2x, faster than the PX-256M6G-2280). Same as above: store one win 8.1 x64 each. No raid as pci-e are not supported. My concern in this post is if this pci-e + sata m.2 config is possible considering i want to boot os from both devices.
    c) Buy the more expensive Samsung XP941 256GB M.2 so i move into a config : Samsung XP941 256GB M.2 (m.2 pci-e 4x) + PX-256M6G-2280 (m.2 sata) . Same as above: store one win 8.1 x64 each. No raid as pci-e are not supported. My concern in this post is if this pci-e + sata m.2 config is possible considering i want to boot os from both devices.

    Anyone please?
I've tried reaching direclty clevo support but no response so far.

    Thank you.

If you're wondering if you can use two separate drive types to install OSes onto, that's always doable. It doesn't matter which drive you install to, honestly; you'll get to boot. My only concern is if boot tables still need the latest installed OS to have the previous OSes in its boot tables, or if UEFI got rid of that. I can't answer that last point.

    Thank you for your answer.

Yes, that is one of my points. But also if that will also work by mixing pci-e m.2 drive and sata m.2 . Just asking if there's some known issue or compatibility thing aroung

I'm not sure what the norm is for plugging headphones into the SPDIF port, but I noticed that if I plug mine into it, there is absolutely no background hiss, whereas with the "real" headphone port there is a tiny bit, only noticeable with no other sounds playing. Thankfully there's no electronic noise from either jack.

So, I would just use the SPDIF port for my headphones, because no hiss is better than a little, except I noticed that there is almost zero bass when using that jack. The headphone port does have good bass response. All things considered, I'd rather have the slight hiss with the bass.

Just wondering if this is a normal thing with SPDIF ports.

    Hi,

    I have a Clevo p670sg ( mostly similar with p650sg )

I just flashed to EC 1.03.04. It solved the stuttering issue I had with EC 1.03.03.

However, I notice the CPU is running at 2.88 ghz instead of 3.4 when turbo boosted.

Is there a way to get it to run at least 3.0 ghz and above ?

    Thanks for the reply

    However, it doesn't work...

I am on the Performance plan using Clevo Control Panel

Only able to reach max turbo boost when not playing games.

I am playing Watch Dogs and it is fluctuates between 2.8 to 2.9 ghz.

Must the EC match the BIOS version? Mine doesn't and it came like that stock :/
My Ec is 304 while my BIOS is 306...

Hey guys, i've watched the video on premamod site about flashing the bios and i was wondering how does it work on the P650SE.
Do i only have to run the usb flash and install the bios/EC? How about the vbios, do i install it separately after installing the BIOS/EC?

And on another topic, i have a Crucial MX100 256GB and i want to install Windows 8.1 on it. Do i make a partition leaving 20% of the SSD space free? I'm not quite sure about it.

If we're talking about fans and such, my fans hardly ever ramp up due to using Liquid Ultra so I cannot say for sure if there was an improvement here.

If you're not using a UEFI installation, then just make sure your USB boots in MS-DOS. Place the flashing files into the root of folder and boot from the USB after restarting. From there, run the .bat file that you use for the latest EC/BIOS.

In the case of the latest EC, was a simple "ecflash.bat".

Why would you do that? I can see no reason why one would do that. Just make a normal full-sized partition?
Hmm... does it hit max turbo in ANY games? Can you check the max TDP the CPU is drawing? HWiNFO can do it, as can HWMonitor. Just leave em up, play a game, check the max column for power draw on the "package".

Maybe i didn't understand it very well then. Just install normally then?

I'm sorry, shouldn't i do it like it says in the video? Do i put both BIOS/EC and Vbios in the root?

I dont think I had run them in specific order... vBIOS isnt related to the previous two and can be done from within Windows under admin mode. I generally see people flash BIOS first before EC.

its safest to flash ec before bios, actually :) but it seems this clevo gen is very solid and forgiving when it comes to bricks according to prema :)

Is anyone using the stock latest EC (306) with Prema's mod? (304 for the bios and the V1 for the vBIOS). Do you guys know of any fan customization utilities other than the stock Hotekey one? Also, I found a nice little app that automatically switches power profile to High Performance when plugged in and back to power saver when on battery. If anyone wants a link, let me know

I posted this several times already, but you can use latest EC with Prema BIOs. As for fan profiles, I still find Hotkey to be the easiest to use.

The package column shows 29 Watts when running Watch Dogs. I will install other games and revert back to you.

Any idea why it is stuck at 2.8 to 2.9 ghz ?

    Hello again,

So I finally received my NP8652 yesterday and am having a couple of issues so wanted some help.

I have the 4K Sharp Panel and have a lot of light bleed which is obviously very irritating, I'll post an image later.
My fans for my GPU are always very fast and I have no idea why, I am doing nothing at all and they are running at a resonably high rate, and they constantly keep going up and down. I have set the fan option to automatic as well in the settings.

Now the main problem is that I attempted to re-install windows using the disk that was provided by sager. It got till 100% and got to the part where it says "Preparing Devices" but then gave me an error and then automatically restored my current windows copy (im on it right now). how do i go about re installing windows using the disk provided?

EDIT: lol i figured out how to get to the install menu via booting through the disk provided. I am on the install page right now and am unsure if I should delete all of the following partitions or not.

The 4K panel made the window so damn small, I literally have to lean into my screen to see what I am doing. I might have made a bad choice, it is beautiful though.

    Couple questions,

    1. For those who ordered their machines from XOTIC with the free IC Diamond Compound back in december, did you actually received the IC separately or did they applied it for you?

    2. Does anyone one know if the touchpad on this machine is a "precision touchpad"

Normally when I do a clean install I delete every partition. But I don't now if it's the same with the sager disk.

I just got a P650SE today and it certainly is a very nice laptop. One query though, I started up the relatively old game Mirror's Edge and when I try to enable PhysX it says my card doesn't support it. The 970m obviously does, so I'm a little confused. Has anyone else ran into any similar issues?

So I just reinstalled windows, should I download the drivers off the sager website or somewhere else? Or should I use the included disk that came with the laptop?

Also all the talk about the EC and the Bios, since I am a noob, could someone explain what EC is, I know what the bios is.

I ordered from XoticPC with ICDiamond 7 and received no paste which leads me to believe it was applied. However, I also ordered the IPS panel and got the TN panel (AUO B156HTN03.1) instead... I'm really starting to question their service now... Did I get the ICDiamond 7? Who knows...

Just got off of live chat now. Nothing solved yet, they say they will contact service and they'll get back to me. Hopefully I get the IPS panel by the end of this week otherwise I'll be very disappointed in them and my recommendations for XoticPC will stop completely as will my orders from them. On the other hand, if they handle it well, they will only solidify my trust in them further.

Cakefish, I have the same panel as you and saw your images of your backlight bleed, mine is the same or perhaps even worse. When you actually do remove your bezel to check if that caused any extra pressure please do tell if that improved the bleeding. I shall post an image of my panel in a few hours.

Update from XoticPC: Apparently my laptop was never at their facility and instead came direct from Sager, this kind of upsets me as I wanted the laptop to be QA tested by XoticPC. Anyway, apparently it's Sager's fault and XoticPC has contacted Sager in regards to the LCD. No timeframe was given to me but I really hope this panel gets to me by the end of this week...

The only time a reseller will have a machine in their hands will be if you have a service they offer that Sager does not selected on the order. It's still QA'd and tested at the Sager facility, just not be the reseller directly. Sorry that this slipped through their QA checks but glad to hear you're getting taken care of.

Ok - in case anyone out there is trying this I wanted to confirm that with an active display port converter I was able to run 3 separate external displays. It's awesome. One display for each display port (2 of them) and then the last display on the HDMI port.

    thanks Meaker!!!!!!!!

Can't remember the game I installed and it complained about PhysX not being found but all I had to do was install the PhysX driver from nvidia's site and it worked fine from then on. I was and still am running the original 344.00 drivers from clevo and I think those must have something screwed up as far as PhysX is concerned. Just been too long for me to remember what game but can't hurt to try to see if it fixes your issue.

    Hope that helps you.

If no Xotic PC customization's and you do not live in CA then it will ship from Sager in CA directly to you.

Thanks. I tried that but Mirror's Edge still has the issue. Some older forum posts mention deleting some dll's from inside the binary folder but that didn't help. I did find some test software called FluidMark which does a PhysX test and that seems to detect it fine, so maybe it's just something wrong with that game. Unfortunately since I'm only just getting back into PC gaming I don't have any other games to actually test with yet.

Slight change of topic though, can anyone else recommend a decent but not expensive laptop bag to use with the P650E? I bought a 15.6inch targus bag, but it barely fits due to the larger than usualy bezel surrounding the screen. I'd prefer a bag with a bit more headroom.
