I see the stock bios on Prema's website is 1.03.06.
Is his modded bios based on the same one or is ut still 1.03.04?

how about opting for the 150W power adapter? that might fit ur size and weight needs more and should still be sufficient to drive the 970M in day to day operation. also, u can get urself pretty much any psu as long as the connector fits the machine's power jack (barrel type connector, 2.5mm inner diameter, 5.5mm outer diameter). u could get urself a slim 120w travel adapter with such a connector, for example. just be aware that u shouldnt max out ur system when connected to such a psu, otherwise it could crash the psu and take ur whole system with it. for everyday workloads and gaming with vsync on it should still suffice though :) and if needed one could always downclock cpu and/or gpu :)

1 - You won't get an OK to change the BIOS from myth. I've asked them before when I was having problems. If they OK you and told me no, I'll have to have a word with them.
2 - What FPS do you get in Far Cry 3, and do you run it unlocked FPS or vSync'd to 60?

    Very nice and helpful!
Have you any suggestions for 150 (or slim 180) watt PSU?

Otherwise I'll be looking on the net as I have time!

Do any of you guys have issues with the space bar being less than responsive, mine barely works on the bottom left corner and it hit or miss along the entire bottom of the space bar

At this point I'm just waiting for Myth to reply. One week, two emails, two attempts at live chat—surprised at the lack of communication given their reputation for good service on these forums (which is the only reason I chose them over other builders).

I ran Far Cry 3 with v-sync on last night; I'll give it another shot today after class and post my framerate. With v-sync on, I was running at 60fps except during stuttering, when it would drop rapidly and then pick back up. Odd observation: this happened sooner when FC3 was installed on my SSDs; on my HDD it only stuttered when moving quickly into dense settlements, and consistently slowed down (as before) when I was driving. No idea what could be wrong. In both scenarios my GPU usage was fluctuating significantly in Inspector—when the stuttering occurred I would see a sharp drop from 80-90% usage to <40%.

Question about the BIOS update: the instructional video on Prema's site involves extracting the archive, but using 7zip on the .rar file just yields a .zip file which contains another .rar and so on. What am I doing wrong? I feel a bit silly asking about something that looks so simple, but I'm lost.

I've seen Mythologic's rep around on the forum and it would be best to PM them... I would honestly say that never both emailing or live chatting with them.. Either PM the rep or I'd say the best option is to call them up..

Does anyone have the WD Blue Slim 1Tb drive in their laptop?

I've read arround that the automatic head parking every 8 secs really makes this drives barely usable and wdidle3 doesn't work to fix this.

Is it the same for you?

My old WD drive causes stutters in movies due to head parking... so I'd like to avoid this if possible.

So I just received my laptop and I'm loving it except **** me I hate the colour profile of the screen it's way too pastel. I've donwloaded the .icm file from the notebookcheck review here ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-P705-Clevo-P670SA-Notebook-Review.134178.0.html) how do I install/use it?
Also I can't find anything in windows 8. Is there switchable graphics, could the laptop be using the intel card right now?
    Thanks!

Edit: I've adjusted the gamma it looks better but still a bit bright. Pretty sure it's using the intel grpahics though. How can I force the laptop to use the 980m?

You import the profile in the intel intergrated graphics options.

Ah, that's annoying :(. The laptop does look and feel great though.

I think I might just be struggling to adapt to windows 8 to be honest, really feels like a botched ripoff of OS X and I hate mac OS.

Redownloading DA:I to see the perfs in ultra muahah.

Expect 35-55fps, depending on the region. I find that the Fallow Marsh is the most demanding region I've explored so far, with FPS usually hovering in the mid 30's, while places like Skyhold and the Hissing Wastes are a bit more forgiving performance-wise.

For the desktop the intel Igp is fine, the only main annoyance is the inability to overclock the display really.

Try using MSI Afterburner's overlay that tells you your CPU speeds, then run Far Cry 3 again. Let me know if when you stutter your CPU drops its clockspeeds.

    Hi gents!
Just landed in forum after buying clevo p650se for my brother.

    I bought it with i7-4710hq, 16gb kingston 1600Mhz, 970m and plextor PX-256M6G-2280.

Now we want to upgrade storage and im a bit confused about the phrase 2x m.2 sata or one m.2 pci-e.

Ok, so i already have the m.2 sata PX-256M6G-2280 with win 8.1 on it and want another 256gb extra for another win 8.1. SO i was thinking about:

    > Option A: Buy identical PX-256M6G-2280 and build raid 0.
    > Option B: Buy PX-G256M6e, use it as boot drive for gaming win os and use the existing PX-256M6G-2280 for dev OSes.

    My questions are:

    1) Is it possible to have both PX-256M6G-2280 and PX-G256M6e working together?
    2) Can i have one OS in the pci-e and another in the sata one and boot both without problems?
    3) Is it a good way to go? (im also speaking in terms of having enough pci-e lanes and do not affect other pci-e devices performance)
    4) In terms of performance is a good idea? Or should i better consider going for the 2x PX-256M6G-2280 in Raid 0?

Thank you in advance for helping here

    :)

interesting questions. as far as i know ull be the first one to try such a combination, so its difficult to provide u with answers at this point in time :D 2 m.2 in sata raid is definitely possible. also, one pcie device is not a problem. but one pcie m.2 and one sata m.2... well weve pondered this possibility before and couldnt find an answer yet (at least not that ive seen)

    can anyone else chime in?

Anyone running an M.2 M550 as an OS drive having heat issues? I've ordered the 8651 and am planning to get a 256gb m.2 m550 separately to use as the OS drive.

It's either that or I'll get a 7mm platter and a 2.5" SSD. This'll cost me around 40$ more if I decide to keep the shipped HDD. Of course, stacking drives in the 8651could introduce heat issues as well.

    I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions.

The way they are laid out should mean the drive is fine. It's more stacked setups that have the issue.

Sure, machines like the MSI GT72 stack the M.2 drives on top of each other (and side by side) which make thermals more of a concern, in this machine they are a decent distance away from each other.

1 - Yes. May not be as close as two of each, but performance boosts will happen, as far as I know, once their sizes are the same and one isn't much slower than the other.
2 - Yes. As long as the newer OS's boot table contains sufficient data to boot the older OS (for example, if you installed Windows 8 then windows 7, you may not be able to boot 8 anymore. At least, this was how it was many years ago; I don't know if UEFI negates the need for that these days. If in doubt, install newer OS last.
3 - Since PCI/e 3.0 x8 won't be saturated by a single 980M, there's not a way you could take up enough PCI/e lanes in that laptop to cause a problem for that GPU.
4 - Entirely up to you. If raiding devices, I would go for similar products, but I'd quicker get you to use the M.2 drivers first as the 1TB storage drive option would be lost using SATA 3 for two small SSDs. Also, I MUCH more recommend a larger single SSD (and partition it if you must) over raiding two small drives. The overhead of the raid controller in random 4K read/write is not worth giving up two slots AND more money than the cost of a single larger drive.

Forgot to add: p650sg and 4720hq

I had the exact same issue and flashing the newer stock XMG bios/EC from the Schenker site (links in OP) completely got rid of the stuttering. Myth just sent me a new bios/EC of their own, but I'm not going to update it until Monday as I'm on the road and don't want to accidentally brick my computer without another one around to help fix it. FWIW I told them (didn't ask) I used the XMG stuff and they didn't freak out or anything, but like someone else said they never gave me an official "ok."

Not sure what versions they sent me. They might have sent them to you by now as well (they accidentally pasted someone else's name in their email to me).

That annoys me a little too. I was wondering about that as I don't think I've seen else anyone mention it until now.

I have a similar issue with Grid Autosport. The window would only run in like 800x600 to boot. I found a utility called Borderless Gaming that makes it look just like full screen, even though it's still in windowed mode. Might work for DA:I.

For updating the BIOS to something else, we won't give our OK, just don't cry if it doesn't work :p

The BIOS / EC we sent you was EC 1.03.06 and BIOS 1.03.05

Problem is optimus with this game. Fixed for me by doing the following (chopped out of the steam forum posts):

The only way to fix this issue is to manually edit the config file located in your user-path folder (%userprofile%\documents\mygames\grid autosport\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml).
Search for "forcedx10="false" and edit it to "forcedx10="true".
Start the Game, select your resolution and enable fullscreen.

Here is the forum topic on steam:

Hello again guys, unfortunately I missed some posts since the XenForo update due to total lack of time so.. I hope I'm not asking something old.

I'm having big problems with my AUO display; backlight bleed everywhere, with even some spots of orange lights in the corners. I'm thinking about switching to an LG panel, and I found theLP156WF4-SPB1 at a relatively low price. I know that someone in the thread is using LG panels. How are they behaving? Is the bleed acceptable?

Just got my laptop today :D
Great news, the stock 1TB HDD from XoticPC seems to be 7200rpm and SATA III unlike what it says on the site. Now, a quick question. Would I be able to use the MX100 without the case with the 9.5mm drive? What are my best options for securing the ssd? I was thinking double sided foam tape to secure it to the HDD.
Also quick impressions, great feel, LG panel has absolutely no bleed. The clevo hotkey software is annoying as it doesn't switch profiles when on AC/DC as my Gigabyte laptop did. I will be making videos of this laptop soon, I'll link them when I do ;)

How did you arrive @ the conclusion the hdd is 7200?

I doubt you can use the ssd without the case.

Sebi97, its as per what Meaker says, though you have to go into "Generic PnP Monitor" properties, details, then hardware ID. Otherwise HWInfo tells you your monitor type aswell.

It appears I have this panel: AUO B156HTN03.1
This is not made by LG... this is not IPS... XoticPC screwed it up it seems as I had the LG IPS screen on my order and paid extra for it. This panel is absolutely horrid.

EDIT: Here is the panel I have (info sheet): http://www.panelook.com/B156HTN03.1_AUO_15.6_LCM_overview_20475.html

Seems like they did mess it up. This should get interesting, I trust XoticPC to make this right but I am very disappointed that this slipped by them. Now I'm wondering if I got the IC Diamond 7 thermal paste I ordered...

As for the HDD, here is the stock drive I received:

Notice it says 7200rpm and SATA 6.0GBPS on the actual drive however there is a circular sticker which appears to say SAT2... This is annoying. I guess I'll trust the HDD label. But then why was that circular sticker put on? Ugh..

EDIT: It appears I have this drive: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145881
Not sure why that sticker is there but, whatever I guess...

Doesn't matter, because you won't exceed SATA 2 speeds anyhow, heck you won't come close to SATA 1 speeds.

Thanks for that info. Also, just a quick question, is EC the same as vBIOS? I downloaded Prema's mod and got 2 folders; 1 titled vBIOS and another titled BIOS. Does it matter which one I install first? Thanks in advance!

Uh.....don't start messing with flashing bios until you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing.

Otherwise it's very easy to brick your bios...

VBios is the internal bios of the videocard AND is totally different than EC

First flash EC and only after that BIOS. Read the tutorial and watch the movie on prema's website like....a hundred times before you do it

P.S. That's the hitachi travelstar 7k1000 Hdd....it's about the best 1Tb classic HDD that you can get.
