Am i the only one that does this? I have USB for keyboard, mice, and my iphone. HDMI for external monitor. Audio for Headphones and another for Speakers. Ethernet cable. Power cable. And everyday i have to d/c and r/c it.. quite a pain.

    Does this work? http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX45747
It seems to have HDMI and Ethernet

Beside an unifying wireless dongle as suggested I do not see how you can do better.. I do not think a dock station exists/can be done. If you want to get rid of the hdmi connection try a widi display but I think they are still sloppy. Bluetooth speakers and headphone could also save your day...

I have a headset and a mouse and I can understand an external monitor, but I wouldn't use speakers as well as a USB keyboard and if possible I'd sit on wifi in your situation, I guess. Especially in a work environment.

Quick question, what overclocking software do yall use to overclock your gpu?
I've tried EVGA precision but it crashes every time.

I have 3 sets of docking stations in my office areas and at home. So yes, choosing the right docks will help. I usually dont mind unplugging tens of cables as long as its neat.

OCing doesn't work on current drivers. Unless you're on 344.91 or earlier, you can't OC 900M series.

    Hey guys. I'm new here.

I've been lurking here for sometime. You guys really helped to make my mind and now i own a NP8652. Couldnt be any happier.

Just loving this laptop. It is even faster than my desktop -> shame on you lazy desktop :))

I ve already installed everything I could. New drivers, premamod (thanks prema, i ll make a donation) and Mr. Fox drivers.

I dont know if is just me, but i ran version 344.00 and Mr. Fox and got almost same result in Firestrike. 8219 and 8220.

Ofc, when I OC'ed got better results.

Btw. Is there a way to control these fans? I'm aware of hotkey control center functions, but I would like to have more control.

Another thing. Can I somehow undervolt my CPU via BIOS? If not, is there a macro to run XTU in startup with settings i want?

    Thanks

So I'm about to place my order for a 8652, and had a question about the hard drives. Which SSD should I get for my boot drive? Will the XP941 be that much better than the 850 Evo to pay the extra money or will the 850 be just fine?

I'd avoid the M.2 options for now, especially the PCIe ones like the XP941. There are reports of them reaching rather... extreme temperatures during use. And the PCIe drives might sport crazy-fast sequential speeds, but they are apparently only marginally better in normal use-cases and generally aren't worth the price premium. Hopefully the next generation of M.2 drives will correct these issues.

The 850 Pro has received extremely positive reviews, and would be a very good pick for a 2.5" drive. Especially on the 8652, since you can have a 2.5" HDD for storage while still having a 2.5" SSD for boot/gaming. On the 8652, I don't see any reason to use the M.2 slots unless you already have both 2.5" slots filled. Unfortunately, if you have the 8651, you can't put a 2.5" SSD alongside the stock HDD, since it can only take one 9.5mm HDD or two 7mm drives. That means you either need get rid of the HDD altogether and go pure SSD (which can get expensive), buy a different 7mm HDD to put alongside an SSD, or keep the HDD and get an M.2 SSD. So for the 8651, the call is a little trickier. But for the 8652, I'd definitely go for the 850 Pro.

    everything that delta said :)

upcoming m.2 drives look way more promising, first of which actually worth upgrading to is the samsung sm951 (about +50% iops performance compared to 850 pro). i myself am holding out until summer to check and see what kinda real life performance the mushkin hyperion brings to the table (specced at 300-350k iops, thats almost 3.5 times that of the 850 pro :D)

Ooooh...don't hope that. You're only setting yourself up for dissapointment :)

That drive will be 200% the price of a normal consumer SSD(ie: crucial mx100)for the same capacity for sure if not more

I couldn't get my headset to work because of Realtek HD Audio Manager so I uninstalled it from the Device Manager. I now keep getting a 'no audio format supported' every time my P650SE turns on which is just grinding on me now, despite all my headsets/earphones/speakers working flawlessly now. Any advice as to whether to reinstall it (and where from) or what to do to stop this message coming up constantly? I still kept the Sound Blaster X-fi MB3 and 'Nvidia virtual audio device' is still in the device manager.

Here's my backlight bleed - what do y'all think? The camera exaggerates it quite a lot though - the screen looks a lot more black when you look at it with your eyes, not the bluey-white yuckiness that the camera thinks it is seeing.

    Hey guys,

Just ordered my P650SE on MySN.co.uk (so it's a XMG P505) with 970M, 500GB 850 EVO ( I will use my own 1TB WD HDD) and a Full HD IPS display, it is now being shipped, the building process was amazingly fast so I'm really looking forward to receive it (tomorrow or friday). Any advice for a Clevo beginner who isn't brave enough to read all the 250 pages of fun?

This sounds like a very similar spec to what I'm considering, I'd be very interested to hear what you think of it, especially the 1080p matte display. I'm still tossing up between this and a 1080p matte screen MSI GS60 2QE upgraded to 16gb RAM and a 500Gb 7mm SSD (on top to the 128Gb mSATA boot SSD). The prices would be almost the same (GS60 would actually be a little cheaper), about £1600.

The XMG is more easily upgraded, and perhaps has better cooling, but it's 5mm thicker and 0.5Kg heavier, so it's a tough choice...

Cakefish can you take a picture on manual mode and adjust the exposure to roughly match what you actually see.

    That looks pretty bad tbh.

I set the exposure as low as it would go. Still not 100% accurate, but more representative now - it's easier to make out the actual areas of bleed in this image (along the top edge and bottom right corner).

I have way less backlight bleed then you Oo, I just have one on the upper left corner. Not annoying at all. it might be your bezel applying to much pressure maybe ?

yeah, it's quite easy on the P650Sg. Just remove the bezel and see if that's the cause. It's a clip-on so you can remove/replace it very quickly don't worry.

Just ordered the P650SE from XoticPC for my wife! :)
Upgraded the screen to LG IPS , the IC diamond repaste and took a 2 year warranty else rest options are at stock.
Already have a SSD so planning on using that.

I had kept the wireless as 7265 instead of upgrading it to the 1525 but seeing a few posts on folks who had issues with it wondering whether I made a mistake. One of the key reasons I was upgrading from my wife's current 4 year old HP laptop was the unreliable wireless card that seems to drop connections recently.

Any insights on this would be helpful!

I honestly very rarely have anybody report issues. I recommend Intel always. Those that have got the BF cards lately though haven't heard any complaints on them either. Used to be that all we heard were complaints on the BF stuff so we all got in the practice of saying Intel.

In that case, I will stick with the Intel as usually drivers tend to be easier with Intel be it in Windows or a non Windows OS.

    Hey all,

I'm getting sudden performance drops/stuttering during games and have no idea why. In less-demanding games (Shadow Warrior) it can take ten minutes or so to set in; for Far Cry 3 it started happening pretty much instantly. Monitoring my temperatures and GPU usage with Inspector shows that temperatures remain well below 80C (often under 70C), and that the voltage to the GPU stays pretty much constant with a drop here and there. The same goes for clock speed. GPU usage, on the other hand, drops in places, seemingly at random. I have no idea why this is happening, Mythlogic support hasn't contacted me after about a week and live chat isn't connecting me to anyone.

Are any other p651/980M users seeing the same stuttering? Do you think it's caused by drivers, hardware, the BIOS or something else? I really don't know what to make of this and it's really taking the enjoyment out of playing games.

I had the same exact stuttering issues and the culprit was a bad SSD (Crucial MX100). Some users with stuttering have reported the issue was resolved but updating their BIOS/EC so give that a shot!

My BIOS is currently v1.03.04, which is the version Prema is working with, correct? Worried about it being a bad SSD but Myth said they used Samsung PM851 drives in my machine since they were out of MX100 stock.

Wanted to eliminate the possibility of an m.2 SSD issue before updating the bios, so I installed Titanfall on my HDD and ran it on maximum settings with virtually no drops in framerate. I'm reinstalling Far Cry 3 on the hard drive and if performance is smooth I guess I know what's wrong.

Update: Still stuttering in Far Cry. I'll give the bios update a shot tomorrow. On the plus, I'll be able to play Titanfall until Myth replies to me

For those of you out there with the Killer 1525AC that have problems, the latest EC that fixes it(1.03.06) is available on XMG website now.

However, it's surprising to see that they reverted to BIOS 1.03.02?!?!?!

Last time I checked I thought I saw Bios 1.03.05

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Maybe someone who bought the laptop from them can ask

I wonder if the 1.03.06 EC fixes the occasional times when the fans go:

Because it's kind of annoying. Very minor, but still would rather it not happen at all.

Edit: just flashed the new EC. Bluetooth still works. The VRRRRRD'ing is still there though. I think it's just a Clevo trademark quirk as the P170SM also has it too.

I actually haven't looked through all posts here but consulted Google a lot lately and found one huge downside with the Clevo P651SE.
This power supply seems to be really huge and heavy and many manufacturers have done better work at that topic.

Now that leaves me with one very important question as I want to be pretty mobile: Does anyone know of the possibility of using maybe Asus PSU on this device or something similar?
Or even a slim version of the original?
I'm aware that there has to be quite some power going through this thing but this size and weight just ruin the overall pretty slim build of this device.

With over 800g for the PSU that is 3.3kg,which would be only 500g less from my current 17" notebook.

If i find no solution to this I probably have to look elsewhere even though this device seems to be almost perfect at the moment!
