@Deadalus1116 there are 2 big resellers in germany, www.one.de and xmg-schenker www.mysn.de and some smaller ones, I would avoid those small ones.

I can recommend mySN, Clevo Extreme Gaming (CEG), Scan UK personally. CEG/mySN have NBR reps. If you need more info contact them via PM. I recently brought P751ZM from CEG.

There's no import tax within EU, so you can buy it from any EU country. However you need to pay VAT (sales tax). Which is non refundable. If you sent it from US you still need to pay VAT.

I also bought from CEG and I am very satisfied with their Service. Furthermore, they have imho by far the most competitive Prices.

You need to enable the Soundblaster software.

If you don't live in EU you can get the VAT refunded at the airport when leaving with the system...

It doesn't work for me. Enabling the soundblaster software slightly increases the sound quality, but not the volume. Yes, you can increase it with the EQ, but it's just not enough.

how about playing around in the windows sound settings, in some cases ticking loudness equalization helps a lot with volume levels...

Not sure if you have tried the "Game" setting in Hotkeys but it gives you MUCH louder audio on headphones. It gets loud enough on my headphones to be painful to my ears on full. Try it.. you'll like it!

Strange, for I too noticed the underwhelming volume on headphones - until I realised that the software had been deactivated. Activating it fixed the issue for me. Have you tried setting it to 'Loud' under the 'Smart Volume' setting?

Hey guys i just was in contact with CEG guys they told me that the p651sg (gtx980 version ) has the i7-4710hq but @ xmg and one. de there are models with i7-4720hq and gtx980m is this a other model or just a error? I know that the 100mhz difference is small and not noticeable just measurable. But I'm just curious. :D

For some reason some resellers still have the 4710hq and others already the 4720. I suppose the 4720hq ones are from a more recent batch or that there weren't enough 4720's supplied by Intel to meet the demand.

Regardless, you will never hit the cap turboboost. So either chip is fine. With some serious undervolting, only 3.2GHz cap at 90C under stress testing.

In theory, the 4710HQ should net more battery life.

Batman is heavier. There is no heating problem as the stress test was Prime95 for 2 hours.

If anything, "Batman" has throttle issues (and currently capped at 3.2GHz due to reaching 91C throttle point) that are currently under discussion right now. And yes it is heavier than P651SE/SG. There was someone that doesnt have that issue due to being able to keep cool efficiently, but that's just one of many who own the machine.

    That fixed it. Thanks! :)

Sooo... another issue now. The light bleed on the screen is much worse than it seems... the bleed is not white, but ORANGE. So... in-game, it's very, very, very noticeable, especially in dark games such as l4d2 or metro. Any suggestion?

Definitely RMA that. I have slight IPS glow on the lower left hand of my screen but its barely noticeable even at maximum brightness. If my panel was as bad as yours I'd RMA it in a heartbeat, that would drive me nuts.

I repasted, my first paste job was acceptable however I redid it a little better this time around.

Running on a stable -0.056V undervolt I have had max temps mid 80's and average temps around 78c for CPU and GPU max around 80c after 3+ hours of BF4 on high settings.

I have the laptop propped up 1 inch in the back and that has helped enormously for prolonged sessions. A proper notebook cooler should see 5-10c further reduction in overall temps.

The fans could be quieter however this model is exceedingly efficient at cooling considering it's high performance specs and slim design.

Also, the entire line-up has gone to the 4720HQ, my order initially was for the 4710, however Sager had the new productions and sent me a 4720HQ model, so these are pretty much as fresh out of production you can get.

It's my biggest criticism with the Sharp 4K - the lightbleed annoys the heck outta me. But I have concluded that it is unfortunately inherent to all IPS displays (to varying degrees with each individual panel), as my P35X v3 also suffered from some lightbleed too. Roll on OLED displays!

How bad has the reflections been on the Sharp 4k? I sometimes bring my laptop to work (which has overhead lighting) or work in my basement which has similar lighting and I was concerned that those would be poor environments for using this panel.

Thanks. What brand of film protector did you use? I had done a little research on some one of the complaints I kept seeing was that they worked but had the side effect of blurring the image. It sounds like you have not experienced that so just was curious what you used.

    Thanks!

Depends on clarity and amount of matte grain used in film. Mine had minimal. The one I used was in the provided links (Casebuy). There are many more as long as they fit the dimensions of 345 x 194.4

Finally put in the M.2 512gb SSD into my Eurocom. The sound of the mechanical HDD is now gone (except if i access that drive).
this system is super quiet and is quite lovely. really happy with this over my Lenovo y510p.

However, according to my openhardwaremonitor, the SSD runs around 56-59 degrees.. is that high?

OLED display have what we call screen burns, some area of the screens are blacker than others,...that's way more annoying in my opinion. Add to that reduced lifespan, luminosity that decreases with time, and higher price.

I had a Lumia 1020 with OLED and screen burns and... no, it's not that bad. You only notice it with a black screen, with no ambient light, and from certain viewing angles (at least 60°). In 99,9% of the conditions the "burns" are completely invisible.

Anyways I called my reseller and as usual they were super kind. They sent me instruction on how to disassemble LCD (linking to HTWingNut's video :D :D ) and told me that if the disassembled panel still shows the behavior they'll send me a new one.

Plus... they mentioned that they had this problem with a lot of 3k panels (mine is FHD). So... beware, 3k buyers ;)

This is why this evening I'll disassemble the LCD to check if it's the bezel that causes all that bleed. But the yellow glow it's not promising any good...

    Hey guys,
I'm about to buy the shenker p505, with a gtx 970m. I'm overwhelmed by the amount of information. Anyone cares to link me a couple of usefull links, or give his opinion on the notebook? I've read the review on notebookcheck, and watched the one on youtube.
Is this a good notebook, or should I look for something else big 15.6?

Yeah, I received my laptop today and it's loaded with the 4720hq.

Is anyone else having light bleed issues on the bottom of their LG screen? I only see it on boot, but I imagine it will be seen on movies as well.

Is there a way to check that my screen is in fact the LG one?

HWInfo can verify that. I have the LG IPS and have not noticed any bleed, perhaps I got lucky and received a very good panel as I am impressed by the quality. Brightness could be a tad higher but overall a very good screen.

M.2. Drives are known to run hotter. The higher transfer speeds tax the controller and cause it to run hotter. At least for the Samsung xp941 this is the case, I remember someone on the forums posting a link to a review of that M.2 drive and it ran very hot.

So has anyone been able to do a side by side comparison of the Samsung 4K and the Sharp 4K.

Cakefish you say the backlight bleed is quite bad on the Sharp, does anyone know what it's like on the Samsung.

HT said the Samsung looked great in his review but how noticeable is the pentile matrix?
