no worries garbageman, theres definitely no doubt that this system can handle its components like a champ and cool them accordingly. just wanna make sure we see some real hard data where the CPU & GPU are actually taxed to their capable limits. as someone mentioned before, playing minecraft will surely get u beautiful temps :p :D

The game is in alpha or beta maybe not optimized for quad core as of yet, but 39W and 100% GPU usage that's what you wanted to see na ? I mean you have the clock : 1h48min max temp 67°C for the GPU But in my opinion maybe the game is GPU limited because in infinite map world it's horrific the amount of data the GPU has to process.

regarding the CPU after P95, MAX (after 3 minutes) is between 82-86°C. Never got more in (CPU intensive) games but tested P95 only 6-7 minutes the first day i got the laptop (just to help the IC7 burn in), i wouldn't be surprised if after one hour of good ol' P95 it reaches 90°C, but no surprise, it's haswell. The most important thing is : NO THROTTLE in heavy gaming.

My point wasn't on the CPU, but the GPU with recurrent 100% usage spike (no Vsync again), 1h48min = 67°C for me. which proves my point that the GPU cooling system is more than efficient. the GPU heatsink includes the top metal parts of the fans too, that's very interesting, why didn't they do the same with the CPU?

I'm a student engineer y'know for me giving false data and graphs is a serious crime ;), my HWinfo screen capture is in all honesty what i got after playing 1h48min of space engineer in infinite map mode, vsync off. When i got my gt60 the first thing i did in my (french) review is point the high temps in BF4, 93°C CPU and GPU (vsync on) Oo...now it's like 63° 70ish°C CPU, and more than 45% extra performance.

Ok guys, I have an issue. Well, actually there are two, but one of them, regarding internet connectivity, could still be a problem with my old router and the fact that I'm often very far and have bad coverage.

As for the problem, everytime I connect an hdmi cable, this pop up from the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software appear:

I think it doesn't like the hdmi output. The video and audio are outputted fine, I was playing grid2 on TV in the living room and everything was ok if I ignored it. It's just that I'm not going to like it, as I'll go between the laptop screen and an external monitor very often in the future and I don't want to see something this dumb appearing everytime, and anyway it's something that's supposed to work fine as is.

Except removing the software, is this a known ''issue'' and there's a way to make it do what I want (seamlessy switch between audio outputs), or no?

edit: looking a bit in the user manual, it says that hdmi is not supported by the Sound Blaster software, so that must be why. I think I'll remove it sooner or later.

I might be stupid or something but I am having a HARD time understanding your BF4 interpretations...

Could you please explain in GREAT detail exactly your BF4 experience on the 980M.

    Settings
    How Long Gaming
    Temps
    Laptops Specs
    XTU Graphs
    Vsync Off
    Everything You Can Give Me

I really need to know this because this will make my decision so much easier.

Oh ok, didn't see the minecraft example sorry :) what the point with minecraft and the p65xSG didn't get it ? You want me to test minecraft ? I don't play minecraft, i prefer space engineer, Kerbal space program thungs like that, other type of sandbox games :).

however would be interesting to compare the GPU/CPU temps between the batman and the p650SG, you should really consider the i7 4560 in my opinion, i can hardly believe that the p75xZM could cool a 4790...my bro had to watercool this very CPU :D Can't wait to see what clevo did, because the p650 is a success in my opinion (speaking of harware and of the sales, everyone is in backorder) so wouldn't expect less for the p75xZM

Will try tomorrow to play Vsync OFF, (i need to play half an hour at least) but you really shouldn't worry about that...the temps are great, and no throttling ,Vsync OFF or ON.
All i can say now is that after one hour Vsync ON, operation locker, 64players, the GPU temps are 61°C +/- 1°C
My specs are in my signature

    Ciao Tentenkun,

The fact is that SB optimization is made for integrated audio (internal speaker/audio jack output), by tweaking the internal DAC settings and improving the sound. Dolby software does the exact same job on Lenovos, for example.

When you want to output digital audio the SB software says: "hey, there's an external DAC that's doing the job, so you won't need me anymore". So the message is perfectly normal, don't worry. Nevertheless, a checkbox like "don't show me anymore" would have been very appreciated.

I see. I don't like pop up advising me that something that's not supposed to work is not working, expecially for changes that I made and are really trivial. Or at least, as you said, an option to not show it again should be implemented.

Anyway, when and if I'll grew annoyed, I could still uninstall it. Thank you.

Assuming you can't find an easier method, there is supposed to be a way to set it so both internal and external speakers are used at once, and able to have separate volume settings. So you probably can just make it so when the external speakers are plugged in, the internal ones stay on but have no volume. I have no clue as to the specifics of doing it however just know someone that did it in Windows 7 a few years ago.

Hooray! Just put my order in with XoticPC. Got the NP8651 with IC Diamond 7 (free upgrade) and the LG IPS panel. Can't wait to receive it. Like when I got my P34Gv2, expect a review, unboxing, fan noise test, gameplay etc etc.
I also ordered this sleeve which should fit nicely :)

Well, here's something where Microsoft should improve fast: personalized scaling on multiple displays. There's an option for choosing a separate scaling percentage for each display, or at least that's what it seems like, but it doesn't work, or it does not work as explained. I'm still only able to change the overall scaling, and so while on the 3k internal monitor everything's fine, on the external 24'' 1080p display everything's too big, and there seems to be no way to change it indipendently..

Can someone list the differences between the P650SE, P650SG, P651SE and P651SG? Considering upgrading my W230SS to this, or a hypothetical P630/P640 (13/14").

Has anyone noticed for single finger scrolling, swiping down on the touch pad scrolls down but with two finger scrolling swiping down goes up? Checking the settings and it doesn't seem that there is anyway to change this.

Edit: I just reset the settings to default and that seems to have fixed it.

lmao @B2 bomber, G750 is really a chassis made for the 880m which shouldn't have really existed. the G751 however is probably set up for highest configuration of CPU and full GM204 in the future. remember once they come up with a working design they don't really wanna change until it's needed. a cut down GM204 can already run into TDP limit issues like 980m is right now, so the full core probably needs a bigger heat sink

Is the "free IC diamond compound" in XoticPC's cyber december them pasting it onto the CPU + GPU already or is it just the paste?

Hi everyone, i've got a small problem with my Clevo(with Win 8.1). Whenever i connect it with HDMI to my Tv it changes brightness (or at least it's what seems changing to me) automatically every 10 minutes or so(it's especially evident while playing) swapping back and forth. I've already checked the windows energy settings and the clevo control center for brightness settings and everything seems to be fine, also it doesn't happen when using the laptop monitor...any idea what the cause could be???

the line under the GPU temp : 98% max usage Average 88% Sorry didn't crop well ^^, but you can see that with the average/MAX Voltage on the GPU that is still visible.

    1. Did you have Auto Fan or Max Fan or Nothing?
    2. So the CPU Max was 75 and the Average was 67.3?
    3. So the GPU Max was 98 and the Average was 88?

Is all of this correct? Did I read this right?

    Hey everyone,

For those that put in an order for the NP8651/P651SE you may find that the CPU has been bumped up to a 4720HQ (as mine was and as a few others have posted as well).

I have question for those who may have Shadow of Mordor on their NP8651. Are you guys having occasional game crashes due to "low memory" on Very High settings? I'm just wondering if it is actually due to low memory or just some game glitch that is closing me out. The funny thing is that I can run "ultra" settings on the benchmark and get 56 avg. fps but eventually get a "low memory" crash in game after awhile.

As you guys know the 970M has 3gb of vRam and my system has 2x4Gb system ram and I have very little else running so at least I don't think I should be seeing these "low memory crashes".

Cake, what is the power meter you ordered to check the power consumption?

Hey Wickette, your GPU temps are good.. But something is dodgy about your CPU.. How is it using 39W max? It should be using 40W++ easily and what frequency was it on? You need to post that.. My 3940XM literally uses 50W when it on full turbo of 3.6GHz and uses 55W when it's on 3.9GHz... Your CPU is really not working at all from the looks of it..

Cake your temps look good for the CPU but how much power was it using? Play the game again with Hwinfo recording about CPU stats :)

Nothing is dodgy since the max frequency achieved is 3397.1mhz which for HWinfo is 39W, probably a bug linked to HWinfo or a thoerical estimation of the Watt consumption. the CPU in benchmark has a totally normal score.

I'll be honest.. I doubt it will be a problem.. I think vRAM is one of those things which you can never have enough of.. As long as desktop cards keep coming out with 3/4GB vRAM, you'll be fine..

True. If you buy a GTX 980 right now it comes with 4GB.

    Ask Prema the BIOS master.
In all honesty it really is not needed.

unless you really need that performance, in which you probably shouldn't be looking at this model anyways, I would recommend heavy CPU OC as you have much less thermal headroom for the cpu. 4710hq comes with 200mhz room for OC by default if light oc is all you need

the GPU is easily overclockable in my opinion by 10-15%, + 5% memory bandwith speed. But i'm against that it's useless and just to show off the laptop like a trophy or something ^^. What i'd like is to undervolt the CPU without a software like XTU, directly using a bios. I'd advice a safe -60mV on the CPU, GPU @ stock or +10% without touching the memory speed . The CPU is cooled efficiently but a safe undervolt would make it even more "blissful"
