Still no Bluetooth. This is ridiculous. How can there be no Bluetooth? Reinstalled numerous versions of drivers many times over. Checked the hotkey program. This is seriously depressing now. I just want to enjoy my purchase. I can't bear to have to return yet another laptop...

Ok, an update on some driver issues I had. I downloaded the drivers from mySN.de | SCHENKER XMG | Schenker Technologies, but the NVIDIA Geforce Experience from that download did not want to work. It kept saying "Geforce Experience has encountered an error and must close" when I clicked on it after installation. Installing from NVIDIA's website instead fixed this issue.

The other problem I had is the drivers for the Intel 7265 are not complete. The download includes Bluetooth and Wireless drivers for the 7260, but *only* the Bluetooth driver for the 7265. This isn't mysSN's fault, as checking the drivers available on Intel's website were the same way: selecting the 7265 only displayed Bluetooth drivers available for download. However, if you download Intel's driver upgrade tool, it will find the 7265 and install the Wireless driver.

So a few minor inconveniences, but once they were resolved, everything seems to be working correctly.

I never mocked Batman owners. Infact, I wished them well.

This is a serious fault. I don't know what to do now :(

Did you have it turned off before you reformatted it before the issue started? I had a post on the last page about it you may have missed. I don't have mine yet, but is there an indicator light? Does the hotkey make the light turn on? Have you tried turning it on in the bios?

There is no hardware hotkey for Bluetooth on this model. Nothing in the control center software either.

    I've tried:

    3.0.0.373
    3.0.0.400
    3.0.0.419

    None have actually activated Bluetooth.

There's gotta be something I'm missing. How can other people have Bluetooth with the 1525?

Do you know if you deactivated BT before you reformatted?

On my PC if you do this it deactivates the module to such an extent that a clean install of Windows won't even find it, no matter what drivers you try to install. If this is the case (or even if it isn't) going back to an old image from when it was working may help, if you have one.

If you can do that, restore the old image, activate the BT radio, then try a fresh install.

If you never deactivated it ever then you can disregard all my previous suggestions at troubleshooting this. You have a different problem ;)

Cakefish, if you go in the device manager is the Bluetooth device listed? Plus, did you try the "detect new hardware" (or whatever its called, can't remember now) button in the same window?

I never knowingly deactivated it. What happened was this: when I first got the laptop and booted it up for the first time, Scan had already installed drivers, including Qualcomm Bluetooth Suite. But I could not find the Bluetooth device under Device Manager. I performed a fresh install and Bluetooth was working as it should using I presume the generic adapter driver... until I installed the Qualcomm driver (the lesson is don't fix what ain't broken). That killed it off and I have been unable to get it back since, even after two more successive fresh installs. I just don't understand...

Here's my device manager - could this mysterious 'unknown USB device' be related at all?

I think unknown device is your Bluetooth device. Try to install driver only using device manager.

Likely that is it. Worst case though remove your wireless card, turn on the computer, turn it off again then reinstall the card.

Yes. Try the "scan for hardware changes" button and see if it finds the card and/or starts the driver installation.

edit: if you search the "Device Descriptor request failed" error in Google you find many relevant info. Anyways that's why I didn't choose Killer... too many people with driver issues.

I guess I have no choice but to try this...
Doesn't work. Whatever it is won't accept any driver (code 43).

OK, so I opened the beast up and removed the wireless card. Turn the PC on and off again. I unplugged and replugged the antennas in also (my god was that the fiddliest thing I've had to do in a long while). Turned it on again. The unknown USB thingy has disappeared from device manager, which I take as a good sign :)
However, still no sign of bluetooth... do you think I'm gonna have to completely reinstall Windows again?

Tried that. Same as the other drivers. Seemingly do nothing as Bluetooth doesn't show up in device manager or anywhere else in Windows. But thanks for the suggestion.

There's no setting dedicated to Bluetooth in the BIOS, I just checked. As I mentioned above, I did replug the antenna cables into the wireless card which seems to have fixed the unknown USB error in device manger but hasn't brought Bluetooth back.

It seems I fixed the error by replugging the antenna cables back into the wireless card. Hasn't brought Bluetooth back though!

I know, right? I swear I'm cursed by the Bluetooth bug or something. Ugh.

Thanks all for your help so far, even if nothing has yet worked. I appreciate it.

Since now you fixed the unknown device issue, did you try to enable Bluetooth from hot keys? I don't think issue is your card. It seems windows 8.1 problem. BTW clean your killer driver suite and then reinstall it after running CCleaner.

I guess I will ring Scan customer support tomorrow and see what they say. For all the hate I gave the Intel 7260 at least that card actually had Bluetooth in the first place. This Killer 1525 is content with being a WiFi only card - that's not what I paid my money for. I will get to the bottom of this. I have to. I use Bluetooth speakers all the time.

Um... but, did you check under the Windows 8.1 "modern" or "metro" menu what does Bluetooth say? Press the Windows key and just write "Bluetooth", that should bring up the appropriate "metro" Control Panel page.

If the device is not still correctly installed, you could also manually unpack the .exe and give Windows the .inf manually.

Ok, two more things that aren't quite perfect.

    1) This charger is freaking massive. It's way bigger and heavier than the 130W charger for my Dell. Granted this one is 180W, but still, considering this laptop is supposed to be portable and lightweight, it would have been nice if that had carried over to the charger as well. I was considering getting a second charger anyway, but does anyone know of a compatible 180W charger that is more compact?

    2) It doesn't fit in my current carrying case. It's just under an inch taller than my current laptop, but that is enough to keep my carrying case from zipping. It still fits in my backpack at least, but it looks like I'll have to get another carrying case.

That's the thing. It doesn't. Windows is acting as if Bluetooth doesn't exist. Doing what you say merely brings up web searches of Bluetooth, not actual settings that I can adjust.

Good luck finding anything more compact with 180W. If you want it just for basic tasks on the go, then you can always pick up a 120W or 150W, there are some slim ones out there, just don't plan on gaming on it then. Although you could probably get away with a 150W if you have the 970m (P650SE/NP8651) because even at max peak with stock clocks it hasn't exceeded 150W power draw from the wall. You need to make sure it's 5.5/2.5mm connector and 19V.

Cake, just to make sure : In the modern Win8 PC-Settings-->PC and Devices you don't have a bluetooth-switch in the third line between Display and devices ??
We don't have a hardwarekey to switch it on-off.

The fun thing is that this is the exact same issue I'm facing with my Lenovo Z500... with the only difference being that I don't care about Bluetooth.

Long story short, the wireless+BT card Lenovo provided with my laptop was a crappy Broadcom model. I had continuous connection drops and the thing became unusable like 6 months ago. So I switched to an Intel 7260... but now, no Bluetooth for me. No Bluetooth page in the metro settings, no Bluetooth device in the device manager, nothing.

The main difference is probably the fact that I had to flash my BIOS to get the 7260 card working, because Lenovo blacklists "unsupported" cards... so only 2 f***ing cards were supported officialy by my laptop. I had to flash the BIOS with a modded one to remove the blacklist check and voila... wifi works. But I thought that my broken BT was due to the modded BIOS... now you're making me think that it may be something else.

If you google you'll see no Bluetooth issue is common with win 8.1 notebooks. It looks like windows 8.1 don't like combo cards.

BTW can you see adapter in device manager? If yes goto adapter properties and disable power management. That trick worked for some.

    Seriously... what is going on?!

So... I turn it on this morning and go straight to device manager in order to do what you suggested bigspin. I see Bluetooth drivers installed under the network adapter. I think 'hmmm that wasn't there before...' and low and behold the Bluetooth tray icon pops up and the Bluetooth settings reveal themselves in Windows 8.1 settings and the control panel!

    Unfrickingbelievable!!! It's alive!!! :D

BUT... it won't connect. My Nexus 5 cannot discover the laptop and vice versa. Both are set to be visible to other devices. Half way there... this is progress. Latest Qualcomm driver. Dare I try an older version as you all said that 3.0.0.419 has issues?

EDIT: IT WORKS IT WORKS IT WORKS!!! I just reverted to driver version 3.0.0.400 and have successfully paired my Nexus 5 with the laptop! Over the Moon right now. Seriously, from the moment I got this laptop I've been desperately trying to fix it. I haven't even looked at temperatures while gaming as I've been solely focused on the Bluetooth issue. Now I can actually enjoy the laptop! Hallelujah!!! :D

No idea what I did to fix it. It wasn't working last night when I finally gave up and went to bed. Now it is. It's like magic. This does mean that if it ever happens again, I'll have no idea what needs to be done to fix it. Seriously no idea what made it decide to cooperate all of a sudden.

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading this thread for quite a time and finally got my laptop today from XoticPC. Everything works fine, exept two things. Hope I can get some tips from here.

I installed all the drivers from this site since I don't have a external optical drive to use the drivers disc came with the laptop.
    mySN.de | SCHENKER XMG | Schenker Technologies

    1. windows 8 is saying that there is a missing driver for the finger reader and gave me a link to look, but I just can't find anything related to the finger reader.

    2. Not detecting the external Monitor. I am trying to connect my monitor through the HDMI cable and I am pretty sure that the cable and the monitor are fine. Tried installing other versions of the Nvidia driver, updated the intel graphics card, Also updated windows 8. Still not detecting anything after plugging in the hdmi cable.

    Any one has a idea?

    Thanks so much.

Sorry guys for OT, but I can't resist.
Since there seem to be a couple of people here who like retro-gaming and some of you might be to young to be aware of at least one of the best games ever :
    SYSTEM SHOCK 2 !!!
I just played it through again after many years and it was awesome again. It creates a phenomenal constantly creepy atmosphere. Just read through the first couple of reviews here --> System Shock™ 2 ● GOG.com ( I hope it's okay to post this link). I think there's not one review with less than 5 stars. One is also mentioning a nice webpage of how to set it up nowadays (with some nice mods).
You can also check wiki of course.
    DON'T MISS THIS GAME !!

Edit : Well, I just found out there are a few "less than 5 star comments", not many though.

Same here, at least with Afterburner. Haven't tried the inspector yet. It also happens once, when I wake it up from Standby and then occasionally without any obvious reason. Might be some kind of calibration or check. It doesn't bother me. As far as I'm aware it will stop when you put the fans under load.
Interesting that the GPU-fans apparently can be controlled seperately from each other.

mhm ok... at least im note alone with the Problem. So the solution should be to start afterburner or inspector only when we want to start a game to avoid the fan behavier. Same Problem with EVGA Precicion

CakeFish- From your description of the problem, it seems to me like Windows Update fixed the issue for you

Also to everyone else, if you want to lower your CPU Temperatures significantly, take a look at this video. No affect on real world performance!
