Hum, sounds sad. Stick to 344 series for now on then? I will try to do a performance comparison of the different drivers on p650sg later on today or tomorrow.

did the same on batman, comparing 344.75 / 344.91 / 346.87. theyre all about the same, with 346.87 having a very tiny edge over the others. that and the higher version number, meaning more recent gaming profiles made me stick to it :)

more data points are always better though, for comparison´s sake!

So I see you guys have noticed Nvidia locked down OCing on 347.XX. Extremely annoying for me as I get up to 10 FPS increases in X-Plane 10 on my W230SS with an overclock on my GTX 860M: +200 MHz on the core, +400 MHz on the memory and a +150 mV overvolt. For a piece of software that typically runs at 25-30 FPS, that's a 33-40% increase in speed. I really hope Nvidia reverses its decision. The tech support guy's excuse on the Nvidia forums that it was an unintended bug - for easily half a decade? Well, I've reverted back to 344.75, and am going to see how performance is affected.

So I just got the dual-channel 16gb 1866 C10 hyperx impact kit and tested its impact on gaming vs the stock generic single stick adata 8gb 1600 C11 I got with my P650SG - and I really wasn't expecting such a drastic difference!

All scores were recorded on their third runs:

    Hitman Absolution:
    8gb 1600:
    55.76 fps
    16gb 1866: 67.11 fps
    Difference: 20%

    Shadow of Mordor:
    8gb 1600:
    58.48 fps
    16gb 1866: 65.31 fps
    Difference: 11%

    GRID 2:
    8gb 1600:
    75.12 fps
    16gb 1866: 106.37 fps
    Difference: 42%

    MGS Ground Zeroes:
    8gb 1600:
    51.32 fps
    16gb 1866: 58.36 fps
    Difference: 14%

    3dmark Icestorm:
    8gb 1600:
    63,866
    16gb 1866: 95,326
    Difference: 49%

    3dmark Icestorm:

    8gb 1600:
    8,291
    16gb 1866: 8,367
    Difference: 1%

To conclude, everyone who's running this notebook with a single RAM stick should upgrade to dual-channel ASAP - as they are really not unleashing the full potential of the system. Also, I'd love to compare those scores vs a 2133 CL11 dual channel config!

u wont see that much of a difference with 2133 dual channel anymore. but single vs. dual channel is definitely worth that lil extra investment :) good job!

Update on my situation. We've reached a fair conclusion. Thanks to XoticPC and a big shout out to Eric F. as well as Tanner. Thanks to you guys, I will be doing a cross ship and I'm getting a free upgrade to 16gb RAM to compensate for the issue. This is fair and I am highly satisfied. Would recommend XoticPC/Sager continually! Thanks guys! :D

omer.sak, did you try to change the timings of your hyperx ram? I have the exact same sticks as you, they do not accept any tweaks on timings, just wondering if it was bad sticks or the laptop.

Hey guys, sanity check please. I have a Mythlogic Dia 1614 (Clevo P650SG).

Everything was going pretty good with the laptop since I received it in mid-January except for the occasional graphics stuttering. I had read on this forum that this issue could be corrected with a BIOS update so I emailed Mythlogic to obtain a new EC/BIOS.

Mythlogic provided me with EC version 1.03.06 and BIOS version 1.03.05MYT. They also gave me a new version of the hotkey software to install, version 3.09.21.

I closely follow the instructions they provided. I disabled running
software, flashed the EC first, the BIOS second, and
uninstalled/re-installed the hotkey software. The only part of the
instructions I was unable to follow was removing the battery. Since this
laptop's batter is not removable I just unplugged the power when asked to.

All of the updates and software seemed to install/update without incident.
However, two things have arisen since the updates.

    1. The laptop CPU runs hotter during benchmarking with Intel XTU than it did prior to the
    update.
    2. When the laptop attempts to sleep it actually crashes and turns off.
Windows then reports that the last system shutdown was unexpected.

    Any ideas?

I've got a question about the built in battery on this.

To reduce wear, I only let my battery charge/discharge to 80%/20%.

Having this charged at 100% all the time (when plugged in) I believe, would damage the battery.

Is there a hotkey/shortcut to stop it charging? Or somthing else built in to stop the battery wearing?

^ I Have a swiss gear one with TSA friendly compartment and extra padding on the bumpers.
this laptop takes up big foot print so you need like a 17" size laptop bag.. check the interior dimensions.

i leave my battery in the machine all the time, never had issues with that. clevo even recommends calibrating the battery every once in a while by completely discharging and then completely charging it in one uninterrupted cycle like every month or so (its in their manuals).

@adamk: the battery is removable, just takes several screws to be removed :)

My best advice is that you should plug in the laptop only when you're using it. Take the habit of disconnecting the PSU every time you shut your notebook down.

The bios files for P505 on mysn.de are newer than those on clevo's website for P6xxSE, AFAIK. Are they prema versions or newer stock ones?

Do you guy know if I can use them for updating my P651SE ?

    Thanks!

    Congratulations already with your birthday!

oh man it sucks if they don't deliver fast. I ask when they would ship it and they said to me on Feb, 5th that he will prepare it and ship it to me. Feb, 11th I send them a message when they will ship it but they are ignoring me. I know from reputations that they normally respond in an hour.

Did you buy it at laptopplus.nl?

mysn uses slightly different stock versions of bios and EC, but theyre definitely compatible with your machine :) be aware that flashing those will change your bios image to their XMG logo (looks cool though!)

If you are waiting this long, oh boy, I can even longer than next week! Darn it.
It's strange they didn't send it on the 5th, like the guy told you at first. I think you should give them a call on monday if you haven't heard anything by then.

So my NP8652 came in yesterday and so far I absolutely love it. I had them install Windows 8 for me and still getting used to, does Sager install all the necessary drivers or is there stuff I should be installing right out of the box. I know I read something about a sager application thats used to modify settings and I cant remember the name or find any posts, and it doesnt appear to be installed on my machine

Hi everyone! Long time lurker here in the NBR. My NP8651 arrived around last week and so far I love it as well. I just had a chance to play with it last night. I'm having a slight issue when playing with Dota 2, which is a known fact about the Intel 7265 AC (lag spikes). I've read about it somewhere in this thread as well. I'll try to do some of the things suggested here and I'll post the results as soon as possible. Overall, I'm really satisfied with my first Sager/Clevo purchase. :)

Hey guys! I made this account just to post here. First off, i want to thank Xotic PC for having representatives out here helping us out to decide on laptops. I mean, yeah, yeah, they secure some sales because of it, but thats ok with me if it gets me information!
Anyways, I've been really stuck on one aspect of the NP8562; the screens. Ive read others opinions on whether to go 4K or not, but i wanted to ask some specific questions.

I hear that matte beats glossy any day of the week. I agree. I hear IPS is the way to go. I agree. But at the end of the day, a 4K monitor just sounds.... nice. I feel like scaling will be improved in windows 10, but even if not, can't you always just scale the applications that don't work well down? does that really not work? use a 200% scale and make text larger?
i also was told that in games, you can literally just lower the resolution to 1080p and they run well on the 4k monitors.

is there any 3K monitor options for the np8652/ any way to get a 4k matte?
    can i downgrade a 4k monitor to a 1080p one?

If anyone reads this who has a 4k monitor, please reply what issues you have/ your personal experience with it.
Thanks guys and excuse my ignorance!

edit: ooh! one more! so the xotic pc

"15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Matte Type Sager IPS Screen (SKU - SSC878)"
is the good quality non-stock screen, right?

    Hi,
Sager does not seem to offer a 4K matte screen, only glossy. I had looked for this as well but ordered a IPS 1080P instead so I can game at native resolution with no glare. The glare bothers me on my Macbook Air sometimes.
My NP8651 is due to be delivered early next week. After using Thinkpads for over 10+ years I am trying a Sager for the first time. Lenovo really screwed up the W540 (IMHO) and I refuse to buy one to replace my W520.

DO NOT get that panel. I have it now (mistake on their part; I ordered IPS) and I can tell you it is absolutely terrible. I posted some pictures a while back (page 250), but definitely do the 45$ upgrade to IPS. In my opinion, 4k is a waste at this time.

Thanks for the thoughts... I wish they offered a 4k matte and i would be all over it.
Does anyone know if there is a good way to upgrade this screen in the future if desired?

    Hi guys,
Great first weeks experience for me as everything was working perfectly. Today I decided to install prema mod bios and update EC (from 304 to 306) and since the update, CPU temp are much higher (60 vs 45 at idle; almost 70 and massive noise when reading a not so high bitrate x264 video that was not affecting temp above 50° before).
Is there options on the bios that can explain such high CPU and temps compared to before flash?

Hi guys, i'm French and i've been on this thread for a few weeks now, trying to find answers about a configuration for a new laptop, and the Clevo P651S from CEG seems to be my choice as i seek something that can last me the next 4 years easily ( http://www.ceg-hardcorecustom.com/CLEVO_P651S/p2920174_13578237.aspx)

Here is the config i would go for at the moment:
    - IPS FHD 1920x1080 Non Glare (i don't care so much about the screen, if it looks just good and doesn't consume too much, it's perfect)
    - i7-4720HQ
    - 16GB 1866Mhz Kingston RAM
    - 256GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD and No HDD or M.2 SSD (i've been on a 100GB storage Mac book Air for the last 4 years, so i can manage the little storage, and add M.2 later)
    - Intel Dual AC 7265 (but many people seems to find some problem with it ?)
    - I will get Windows 8 myself as i can have it relatively cheap as a student

Does it seems good to you or do i miss something here ?
    And one last question:
    - I've read good reviews about Clevo Extreme Gaming, german reseller, anyone to confirm ?

    Salut Lacker,
I took almost the same config 2 weeks ago (except I went for a 500Gb 850 Evo since I need a bit more storage) and I can say that it is an amazing machine :) I don't know about CEG but I bought it from XMG (mysn.eu), they also send to France (and have AZERTY keyboard which is important to have for frenchmen) and I received my laptop quickly and everything working fine (I also installed a windows 8.1 student on it) so I am recommending them since my experience with them is perfect so far. I don't know whether price is higher with one of the two but you can consider this vendor too.
