    Those without any badging, do you plan on covering up the lid with a wrap or a decal? I've seen people put a sh!t ton of stickers on their laptops and I'm not gonna do that. The brushed metal finish looks great but grabs a few fingerprints.

    I wonder if quoted weights are base config. I weighed my machine today and found it to be 2933 grams.

    Well, I still tested and tried many variables here with little to no success and here are some of my conclusions:
    - I noticed that overclocking my memories (I don't know why the hell they were clocked at 1600 Mhz) to 2133 Mhz, gave me a little more GPU usage;
    - I tried to underclock the CPU (including Turbo Boost) to 2,4 Ghz and noticed no difference and the voltage limit kept throttling it;
    - Boosted the CPU's maximum TDP to 65 W and undervolted it by -100mV. No significant results.
    - I noticed that some games, apparently those that are less CPU bound, such as Witcher 3, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Just Cause 3 run at constant GPU usage between 95 and 99%. These are at an ideal level of performance.
    - Games that I suppose that are more CPU bound suffer more from this problem: GTA V fares better in higher resolutions and settings, as well as Doom. However, GTA gets more severe performance hits, rarely exceeding 75% GPU usage and dropping to around 50%, even in higher settings in in places more detailed (with lots of grass) or crowded. Doom only runs at almost 95% GPU if I downsample it from 2560x1440 to 1080p.
    - XCOM 2 runs with high GPU (85-95%) usage when I zoom in the characters. If I zoom out, to get a wider view, the performance gets a hit at the same time GPU usage drops to around 40%;
    - Definitely the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU due to power or current limitations (especially the latter).

    I'll try to reach the vendor tomorrow. Last time I bought a notebook with them I had to RMA it, but got a new one back relatively fast because I changed the model. This time, I don't know how long it could get.

    I want to keep mine pretty clean (no stickers etc). I just thought it would be cool to have an unbranded laptop for a change. My Dell's and HP's kind of scream their corporate heritage =P

    I'm confused about OCing my 6820hk. I can't get XTU to install because its saying it doesn't have permission to start the service, but when I OC from bios it works for like 30 seconds then downclocks. Should I be increasing the power limit? Say a want a 4 GHz OC, what's normal for this chip? OCing my desktop cpu was much simpler I hit like 1 button, I'm just confused what's normal for this thing.

    Pretty sure I shouldn't need an overvolt for 4Ghz.

    Yea I forgot to mention that about my ram too, it would say 1600. Sometimes it would stick if I change it back to 2400 but when it won't, I'd get an error next time I login saying settings had to be reverted. Weird thing is, my ram speed would register correctly on CPU-Z regardless...

    LPC-Digital for Sager Larry is an awesome guy.

    HIDEvolution costs a little more but has the best customer service bar none and is a Clevo builder with more options like liquid ultra thermal compound, laser engravings, factory screen calibration, internation warranties, the prema bios etc...

    Are you the only ones that have noticed CPU and GPU throttling? Anyone else noticing this issue?

    I don't know how likely this is to be a BIOS/firmware issue vs hardware defect.

    Hey guys, I created an X-Fi profile that creates a more balanced sound for the built-in speakers by decreasing the the mids, creating a less plastic, hollow stage. I would like to know what others think: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37751960/Clevo_P65xRS_Balanced.xml (also zipped and attached to this posting)

    Just open the X-Fi app and import the profile and activate "Clevo P65xRS Balanced" profile.

    To the connoisseurs & tinkerers of the more classic OS technology,

    Could those of you with Windows 7/8.1 installed tell me which specific functions I would lose if I went the anti-Windows 10 route (specifically in relation to drivers and not Windows 10 gimmicks)? Ideally I want to dualboot Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu.

    My concern is with touchpad and backlit keyboard drivers. I know I can get better and more updated wifi/sound/vga driver so those I'm not worried about, just the trackpad and keyboard. I woudln't even mind if the keyboard just had defaulted to one color like it did for me with my old msi laptop w/ Ubuntu as long as it could be manually turned on and off.

    I just tested and it is indeed Power Limit Throttling accdg to MSi Afterburner with 98-99% GPU usage (walking using the most graphical scene in Heaven Benchmark with my fps around 39-42). Should I worry about this too or is it just normal that it will throttle as soon as it approaches 100% usage?

    So far, since no one else has said anything, I believe @Krissppy and I were "gifted".

    If the issue is BIOS related, it is happening to both available BIOS, since we flashed the most recent.
    This happens to me as Power Limit in Witcher 3 when at 91-99% usage, Doom, at 80-94% GPU usage and pretty much all the time in GTA V (along with Voltage Limit).

    I'll test heaven benchmark again and post it here.

    This may be a silly question, but does this issue happen if you have both the CPU and GPU cranking? If the GPU is completely idle can you get more out of the CPU and visa versa?

    So far, I haven't faced any situation when both CPU and GPU are stressed simultaneously. Normally, when I face it in games (especially GTA V), CPU is around 40-60% utilisation, while GPU never goes beyond 65% in 1080p.

    Curiously, the larger the resolution, the more the GPU is used. If I use DSR in GTA to 1440p, GPU utilization tends to get between 80-90%, but I rarely get fps over 60. It's like something is bottlenecking th GPU.

    The CPU and GPU, apparently don't interfere in each other regarding usage.

    Higher res should stress the GPU more, but 1440p is not that high (not like 2160p on the 4K screens ...). Still 1080p to 1440p is a significantly higher resolution that will require more GPU to render each frame.

    What are your temps like when the throttling occurs?

    EDIT: also, is this an external monitor? I've only seen the 1080p and 4K options from HID and LPC

    Just opened a RMA call and talked to a technician from Avell. I wrote a hell of a big text to try to explain everything. They'll contact me to ask for further tests and/or instruct me on sending it back.
    Throttling occurs with temperatures as low as 60º C and as high as 85º C. It doesn't seem to be a factor related to throttling.

    The higher resolutions are achieved throug downsampling through Nvidia DSR. Both my Clevo and the eternal monitor I use sometimes are 1080p.

    Sometimes, it seems like CPU bottlenecking, even with no game using the processor beyond 65%.

    I ordered an 8152-S off them about a month ago. I knew at the time the screen was on back ordered (from Sager) so it took about a week for the parts to come in, then another week to build and ship. 2 weeks wasn't too bad IMO when I see a lot of people here waiting much longer. If the parts in stock it should be ~1week. Anyways they were the cheapest by far at the time, given all the base options of the 8152-S at the time (although I looked the other day and I think they've changed some things). They'll give you a slight discount if you ask for about the NotebookReview discount. They also do a student discount but it wasn't as good. Their support has been responsive with all my questions as well.

    They certainly aren't bad. They just aren't as responsive as HID or LPC when speaking with them. LPC should actually have at least been the same price as XoticPC.

    The NP8152-S starts at the same price for both. Prices can vary depending on what kind of drives and ram you pick, but they should be extremely close.

    Eurocom offers a 10% student discount so students should look at their SKY M5 R2 or MX5 R2 lines.

    I don't know about your Windows part of the question (don't use it), but Ubuntu should run great on here. They keyboard on my RP6 defaults to blue on Linux, there are some clevo keyboard drivers for other models that work somewhat on this. I was able to do some pattern changes of the LEDs, but full control doesn't quite work. I only spent about an hour on it though as it was a lower priority for me; however I'm fairly sure there is a way to get full control over it I just haven't had the time.

    Yeah I've heard that about Xotic, but have yet to experience it. They were really responsive prior to ordering, keeping me updated through the wait/build process, and some post questions. I don't know how their support will be if I need to RMA something, but I can't imagine it's even remotely as bad as Asus lol. I don't recall what the difference was vs LPC at the time to be honest, but I know when I configured the same specs on HID at the time it was ~250$ more.

    EDIT: LPC at the time was charging extra for ICD paste I think is why I went with Xotic (as they were free). Now it appears Xotic is charging for it too WTF.

    Xotics always charged for ICD except for Special...but that would be on Sager because Special is still shipped by them so interesting...

    As for their communication I know its a freebie but they flat out ignored me when I told them half of the supposed freebies were MIA and the mug was scratched to kingdom come...I messaged them on chat twice after hours and PMd their rep here only to be ignored and still have no response.

    Even if I got a reply like "oh hey yea we ran out sorry" ide be fine because its not critical but ignoring me makes me not fine. I also asked about decals to potentially purchase with no reply.

    Prior to this order changes and information went smoothly and with prior orders things have gone smoothly... I haven't had to rma anything yet but i dont think itll be anymore painful than any sager shipped reseller.

    Even though they went incommunicado on me ide still probably use them again but not show any brand loyalty (with lanyards and such unless they fix their boo boo months after!) The computers what matters and I got it at least.

    XPC/LPC its all on who you want to support in the end

    Wow, yeah throttling at 60C is pretty bad. I agree something really strange is going on.

    Wait, if you are always downsampling to 1080p then the resolution DSR is rendering is what you are changing. Having the card render to a higher resolution (i.e. before downsampling) does cost more.

    That bottlenecking behavior is worrying =(

    Another silly question, you don't have any "power management" settings? This shows how little I know about all the Clevo apps etc =P

    Yeah that's weird. I ordered the 8152-Special at the time ICD was the default (and only) selected option under Thermal Compound on Xotic's page. Now even for the 8152-S it costs +35$ extra. My freebies was some Paragon game bundle shipped from Sager w/ the laptop so I guess I didn't have that issue. Sorry to hear they wouldn't respond and at least tell you they didn't have any more, that's lame. I don't really like showing brand loyalty or branding/badging on anything (the clean brand free look of this laptop was a huge selling point).

    @Galm17 @Rune Walsh

    So I just realized my GPU would power limit throttle with prime95... if I'm not mistaken, prime is purely a CPU benchmark right?

    In the picture I just ran prime and pulled up afterburner. It's already throttling both the CPU and GPU shortly after it started. Interestingly enough, you can see my gpu already was throttling before the test in the graph.

    Does anybody know if any of the m.2 slots support NGFF?
    I hope to install an internal USB connector for my mouse receiver and from what I've seen that should be possible with the properly keyed m.2 slot using something like this: http://www.dx.com/p/m-2-ngff-to-usb-3-0-adapter-card-w-extender-cable-green-361825

    I would pull 5v power from the sata connector (either from an unused SATA port or by "shrinking" a 2.5 SSD to make space for a y power splitter)

    I was wondering if someone got the Samsung PLS panel and if scaling to 1080p native works properly. No fuzziness. Cause the 1080p backlight bleed is quite annoying and visible.

    Hi everyone,

    I'm using my P65XRP6 for few weeks now, and I noticed a light coil whine coming from the center of the keyboard when a second monitor (a samsung tv in my case) is plugged in via hdmi, and it becomes very loud when I'm playing a youtube video or watching a stream.

    There is no coil whine when I don't use any external monitor.
    I've ordered an hdmi->mDP adaptator from amazon and I'll try to plug the tv via mini display port instead of hdmi to see if it can fix or at least reduce the issue.

    Does anyone here had a coil whine issue with hdmi specifically ?

    Thank you

    How many years tops do these better compounds (IC Diamond and the like) last before the need for a repaste?

    If that means configuring one with a 4k screen and setting the resolution as 1080p, I would like to know this too D:
