So my system is getting a little toasty, even with Gsync capping FPS and ICD paste from factory.

Here's what I'm thinking: pick up a tube of Gelid extreme, cleaning/removal kit, and giving a repaste a shot. I've never done it before, and I'm noticing differences of opinion regarding application.

Should I drop the pea sized amount, line application, X, or apply and spread? After I'm done with one of the above, just cover with heatsinks and I'm done? Videos and guides all seem to provide different info.

Guys, sometimes the boot Fn2 or Fn7 doesn't work for me. I have to go to Advance Reboot>UEFI Firmware to access the BIOS. Do any of you encounter this? What's the fix? I'm on latest bios and ec.

I did line for CPU and x for GPU. The surface area is so small (compared to a desktop CPU) that I don't think it matters. There is a video somewhere of someone testing all of the different methods and it didn't matter. As long as you put enough and not too little, that is. It helped me to warm up the gelid extreme above a lightbulb/hot water

    EDIT: here is the video:

@Phoenix can you help me figure out which version of the Clevo CC is the one I need if I am just planning to use it to control fans and keyboard? I think they may be specific to different laptops.

A couple of us ran into that issue. For me, that ended up being the only sure way of getting into bios. I'm not sure if anyone figured out how to fix it.

Eh I'm not a big fan of that test. Thermal paste differentials are larger at higher temps. 47°c is only 60% the temp most people are seeing with this laptop or what a lot of overclockers end up with on their desktops, so it may be less than 1° diff @ 47 but larger @ 80. I'm also not sure if he's measuring the CPU socket temp or individual core temps. Improperly applied thermal paste could lead to only one/some cores running hotter then the rest.

    Here's another test :

And another to show spreading with a piece of acrylic :

Personally, if it's for one of my personal PC's, I like the spread method. Especially since gelid GC extreme (my favorite non-metal TP) comes with a spreader tool for this purpose. That way I know I have 100% coverage, don't have to worry about having too much/too little, or will it reach one edge. etc. Only takes an extra minute. I definitely have one core on my 650 that seems to get hotter then the rest (usually 84-88, one time saw 91 for a brief second), I don't know if it's because of their thermal paste method or the way every benchmark I've used is loading it (or just the die thermal design), but I will probably re-paste and find out here shortly.

Hey guys. I'm a 2011 WHR Clevo owner. I'm planning to buy this one but the 15" with 1060 version. I read this entire thread and still have some doubts. Because I'm a doctoral student, I'm planning to work in two screens (thats amazing for data analysis) and play on the sides (when I have time).
For what I understand, the 15" and 1060 laptop version still have issues when using a second screen, wright?
Second, how bad is the back light bleed issue in this version? Does anyone with this version could tell me?
And finally, is there any difference in temps with this version and the other version (with 1060 or 1070 GPUs)?

Congrats guys, this topic is amazing!
    Thanks in advance!

I would suggest either the dot method or x method for gpu and a small line for cpu. You just have to put in a small amount.

Clevo updated their drivers again. This time with Control Center AP (5.0001.0.88) and NVIDIA VGA driver (21.21.13.6926). Curious what are the changes...

Is the light bleed there due to bad qc of the screen bezels or the panels themselves are bad ???

Also how are temps with liquid metal on 650rgs

An updated BIOS fixed the external display issue. I never tried an external display until after the BIOS update, but I can confirm that there are no issues with the new version

But for what I've seen, the bios update just work for those laptops with 1070 versions, isn't it?
Ii would be very frustrated if I buy this one and can't use properly.

Yes, the new BIOS version is only out for the 1070 laptops if I understand correctly. I imagine a new version will be out for the 1060 ones soon, but obviously that is somewhat unpredictable. @Prema BIOS, whenever it comes out, is likely to fix the issue too, if you buy from a Prema partner reseller.

The download page for the P6XXRS still shows version 5.0001.0.81.

I can also confirm that the updated BIOS fixed the problem of high CPU usage when the system is connected to an external display. It also addressed an issue I was having with slow shutdowns and restarts. Hopefully Sager will release this BIOS for 1060 users very soon.

The first Key Feature is probably the best.

Can someone post or share a video of changing the keyboard backlight color and effects that it supports? I saw a review for an Aorus X7V6 recently and its keyboard looked pretty dope (probably because of per key RGB lighting just like the Razer Blade).

I hope HIDEvolution recieved their shipment of CLLU CPU paste because that's the only thing holding up my system delivery. It's been a long time since Sep 7.

I'm wondering if anyone has a fix for the backlight bleed issue? I've received my NP8153, and the backlight bleed is pretty bad. I've never had this issue on a display before. Is it a manufacturing defect with the display panel itself or just the fit with the case?

I don't want to RMA the laptop (as it was ordered internationally) and my understanding is this a fairly common problem with these computers and unlikely to be resolved through that process. Frankly, it's shocking that such an expensive machine has such a common QC issue.

Has anyone been able to physically adjust the bezel/display or make other changes to resolve/reduce backlight bleeding?

Physically try popping the clips (of the monitor) out in the trouble areas. If I push too hard I can create lightbleed, while unclipping it would relieve all the pressure.

This was for the 4K panel though which already didn't have much lightbleed, YMMV.

There's some decent settings to slowly rotate through colors by pulsing and stuff, but its just 3 color zones. So most of the crazy fast and flashing effects look pretty silly. I mostly use it to just set it on yellow which is an abnormal set up color (my entire desktop rig is black and yellow themed)

My 650rs finally came in yesterday! After spending some time with it, the 4k screen is actually pretty good. I had it calibrated by LPC. There is still some light bleed around the screen, specifically around the hinges but barely barely there, nowhere near the severity on the 1080p screen. It's more uniform and actually blends in with the brightness turned up all the way up. Temps are good, over clocking it to 4.1ghz on the cpu brought temps up to 89c via firestrike (will probably do a repaste with kryonaut this weekend). Setting it back to stock with a -160 uv knocked temps way down to 70. Gpu oc started off nice as well +150core and +500mem (mid 70's on the gpu temp), will play more and see how far I can push it.

Overall, extremely happy with this one

So I am still trying to figure out if the latest Clevo CC 5.01.0.73 is ok to use or not. @Phoenix @Mr. Fox Anyone else? It comes with the CPU and GPU overclocking utilities which I do not use - just use it for the keyboard and fan profiles.

A couple of weeks ago i reported about having ridiculously high temperatures (Crysis 3 93 degrees Celsius on my GTX 1070) on my Clevo P670RS-G. You guys suggested to repaste either chip - I did that but I was a little bit impatient and since there was no known thermal paste brand in stock in the area I live so I went with a thermal paste that is not really known, yet it was suggested to me by the person working in that store. After repasting the temps dropped significantly by about 10 degrees celsius on load on the GPU and slightly less (about 7-8 degrees) on the CPU side. Today I ordered Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut so I will definitely repaste it again and see if temps keep on dropping!

What fan mode are you guys using? Since I got my laptop I was using the "automatic" fan mode in the Clevo Control Center - might this have been the culprit? Can you suggest me what mode is the best one to get good tems?
Any help shall be greatly appreciated!

edit: I changed the profile from "automatic" to "overclock" and the temps went down by like 7 degrees on gears of war 4!

So after a lot of attempts to download Nvidia Driver from Clevo site, I finally managed to install to try it out. It's a rather old Nvidia version but custom number 369.26. Gsync still broken. In NCP, Vsync is default On.

Edit: Heaven Benchmark increased from 54.4 to 55.1 after several tests (stock, no oc). Yeah, just a little increase but just maybe there are some Clevo tweaks under the hood. 1070 systems can you guys check it out?

Congratz! Mine just went into "Production" today! I'm pretty excited - it sounds like the 4K screen might have been worth the extra cost, though I don't know if there's enough 4k owners to draw that conclusion. Either way I think it's about time Clevo acknowledged this as a design or production flaw...

The RS also has a shared heatsink design where the GPU has a heatpipe going to the CPU heatsink to aid in cooling. The heatsink is larger to help compensate.

Hi friends, I am back :) today I update my NP8153 (P650RSG) to Bios 1.05.04 after some funny series of events, in the past two weeks the laptop was good untilI connected my old ACER 24" 1080 monitor and then the fun started:
1- when I switch to the other monitor to play Rise of Tomb Raider and then switch back to my 4K monitor on the laptop I find thin bored line of low pixel density with high brightness around the entire monitor disappear in minutes and every thing back to normal, some times the border line has lower brightness than the rest of monitor and in minutes every thing back to normal.
2-After I leave the laptop for some while and the the monitor turned off it never turn on again. The back light turned on but not the LCD.
3- The windows explorer (My computer and folders) started behaving funny like the sub-folders don't appear and when I press mouse right click the sliding menu are empty and properties menus appear white with no writings in it.

I thought @Phoenix said not to install that specific one because it has XTU included and will mess up the fan tables? Or is that a previous version and this one is fine to use? Sorry, I'm getting confused about which version is the right one.

Someone mirrored it here, get it from him. The Clevo site is really slow and sometimes even the download stops. I don't know if it's just me, but I noticed you can adjust the fan speed offset if oc'ing the GPU.

What exactly do you mean by "XTU included"? I didn't have any prompt when installing the .88 version.

    @ronzky321

The new Clevo Control Center after v5.0001.0.50 contains XTU entries/service

you do not get any prompt to install it, it's part of the Control Center's built in CPU overclocking utility

Is 2400MHz ram worth it over 2133MHz?

Nope. You can just oc the 2133 to 2400 if you care enough anyways.

Yea auto is a bit high on temps, I run over clock now and am very pleased. It's a big difference in temps and I don't think it's too much louder. Auto is fine if you just want it quiet while you aren't playing intense games though.
