So I've finally been doing some extended gaming on my 650 rs-g. I have the 1070 with 6820, shipped pasted with IC, and using an external monitor only. I flashed the bios to Goo's latest Sager driver ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...s-owners-lounge.795090/page-298#post-10358052) but did not update the EC.

I'm primarily playing a four-year old MMO (guild wars 2) which is known to be fairly processor-dependent. My subjective experiences:

    • Even without a separately updated EC the fan noise is very modest. It's not much louder than my old desktop. The fans are not spinning up to max, which can be pretty loud.
    • Temperatures are good. After hours of playing the CPU is in the 60s, peaking around 70. Same with GPU but a few degrees cooler. I have the gelid to repaste but I don't think I'm going to do that any time soon.
    • This particular game runs smooth as butter, with only occasional hitches that I suspect are network-related.

wow apparently most people who talked about flashing in the new bios fixed one issue but create another so I might just wait til they either update the bios or wait til Prema Bios comes out!

I've just been skimming the recent posts - what is the new problem created by the BIOS? My system seems to be running fine.

Same here, I updated the BIOS to the most recently posted version on this forum and my system is running perfectly.

Anybody receive a model with the 4K screen in the last week or so? Still waiting for mine that I ordered September 2nd, and apparently it's supposed to ship either today or next week, but I wonder if anybody else with this is screen has had any luck recently.

Maybe he's talking about the issue in our P650RP6. Someone posted our BIOS isn't updated as the other models, that's why the external monitor prob still exists somehow.

Yeah, the only model that has not been fixed is the 15" 1060 model (still havent heard from Sager about that model with a more updated bios yet, I will ask again), everything else should be running fine, I am still using the XMG EC with zero issues myself (the sager one with the BIOS still works fine)

I have zero complaints about this laptop other than Gsync being a mess (not clevo's fault) and the backlight bleeding (not a game killer for me)

The only issue I had before was that external display issue, now that's fixed on my model (15" with 1070) it's been pretty smooth sailing from here.

Has anyone used these laptops with an HTC Vive? I had to RMA mine due to the performance issues. It very well might have been related to the CPU/external display issue which seems to be solved with a BIOS update... but I really need to verify that VR is in fact working well before I order another Sager. I was using Valve's The Lab - Robot Repair as a benchmark. Launch that with the HTC Vive and if you don't perceive any frame drops or hitching, then it should be working great. I would really appreciate any help with this. I had the 8153-S with 6820HK & 1070. Thanks in advance!

A 1070 would slaughter that game at 4k without sweat.

You'll still see fps drops from perhaps network lag but more importantly pretty awful cpu performance. On anything though it doesn't matter what cpu you have.

Anybody know how to get the red headphone jack light to stay lit? It comes on during boot, but goes out once Windows starts. Sure would be helpful when trying to plug in my headphones in the dark.

I received mine a week ago and I order from HID at September 12 but it really depends on where you got it from and you might need to keep contacting them to ask for a status!

I don't know yet but I will try the VR stuff tomorrow since I am getting my VR stuff back from work!

    Hi folks!

I have been in contact with a "Blaire" over ath the "PCGHX" forums who collects driver feedback for nVidia. I told him baout the G-Sync / V-Sync issue mentione here (and expreienced with TW3 in my case).

First of all he told me about the history of the G-Sync feature, which was quite interesting. When the feature was introduced there was only a "G-Sync on" or "G-Sync" in the settings - without any V-Sync option.

With 353.06 the seperate "V-Sync on/off" switch was introsucet to not automatically cap the FPS. According to him since then everybody thinks that "V-Sync on" means higher input lag, which is not the case.

With the latest Iteration of the drivers the 370.06 and up (as has allready bin stated in this thread) "V-Sync on/off" is by driver default depending on the in game settings.

In fact the proposal would be: "G-sync on" and "V-sync" set to "application controlled" in the driver while "V-Sync on" in game, with Frames capped to < 60.*

At least this works for me - even in "The Witcher 3". Still: I wonder why I (inthis very game) I get tearing with Gsync on and Vsync off while frames are capped.

Blaire asked me to do seome testing and I will do so and will report back.

    Best regards

    phila

*Blaire also proposed to give the driver sided FPS capping via nvidia inspector a try - for all those that are not satisfied with the RTSS way of capping.

Here's a thing with G-Sync on Pascal Clevo systems...

If you install official Clevo 369.26 drivers you'll notice all games are capped at 60fps at stock settings with G-Sync working as it should. But if you install Nvidia drivers for the main website even with G-Sync oprion enabled you'll get tearing and no fps cap.

The difference between those drivers is the Clevo one's force Vsync On option in nvidia control panel, where official Nvidia drivers set it to application controlled, so you don't have 60fps cap. Just set vsync on in control panel, disable it in game and enjoy G-Sync.

Or, you can force V-Sync off in NVCP and cap 58fps or 73fps (2-3fps lower), depending on your stock monitor refresh rate via MSI AB riva tuner and G-Sync will still work. For some reason if you cap it to 60/75 (stock monitor refresh rate) you may still experience tearing.

Nvidia inspector worked for me. I capped at 74.6fps and tearing is gone. Gsync is on and vsync is off. It seems like gsync without frame capping was capping at 85fps to get the lowest input lag and near display frame rate (75hz). At 74.6 fps the input lag in over watch is higher by 4ms compared to not capping

That's still fine. 1 fps is ~14ms on a 75Hz display, plus human visual reflexes are like 250ms on average (to be fair here you can still detect lags smaller than this easily). 4ms shouldn't even be a noticeable increase though.

This game is "hot" - mine P670 was about 77C. But when I set FPS cap in Nvidia Inspector (94fps) and play Team Fortress 2 for about 30 -40 minutes GPU temp reach only 45 C... Cool and quiet. I don't know if even GPU fans start to spin.

Makes sense. I do wonder why gsync was capped itself at <85 fps on a 75 hz screen.

Hi there, can I ask whether the P650RP6 model feature 1 or 2 2.5" bay(s)? I opened up the back to check but only see 1 2.5" bay and 2 M2 SSD slot.

Thanks again everyone for the help with my new P670. @Galm17 @Kittys and @Phoenix especially.

I spent some time with it over the weekend, making sure everything runs smoothly. Reinstalled Windows and all drivers. Here are some results from tests:

Prime95 for 15 minutes: CPU temperature 63C stock, 58C with a -50mV undervolt via ThrottleStop.
Unigine Valley: 2863 score, CPU temperature 58C, GPU temperature 68C.

I took a look at Clevo Control Center, but it seems laggy and unintuitive. Are there any settings in there I should adjust? I also downloaded Intel XTU, but then uninstalled it as ThrottleStop seemed more straight-forward. There is also the nVidia Control Panel that I left alone after setting the slider to max quality. Are there settings there I should pay attention to?

So far everything runs great. I'm very pleased with everything.

You have just ruined you fan profiles by installing XTU. Only a full format and an NVRAM reset would fix them otherwise you will notice your fans will soon up randomly for no reason even when idle.

Please explain in more detail @Papusan I am on a phone

well as long as they are not randomly spinning up to max blast while you are doing something as simple as web browsing, then you are fine. If you do notice that your fans are spinning up randomly for no reason even if the CPU temp is low, then XTU has messed up your fan tables.

I thought this was an issue people were having due to the stock EC and the new EC update from XMG fixed it? Maybe it is a separate issue or are they related? I will keep a close eye on the fans and if they seem to be acting funny I'll format this weekend.

Are there different version of CCC? The only I have includes options for RAM and GPU OC and other things I do not really need. The only thing I am really using it for is to set keyboard lighting and the fan profile.

If everything works great, don't worry. Follow temp and fan speed in Hwinfo. Use TS and Nvidia Inspector instead of Clevo CC. Some haven't problem with CCC and some a lot. People with problems with Newer CC, use the older latest version for DM1.

My system had fan tick with and without newest EC but it eventually faded away. Not entirely sure why... I checked for cable overlaps that fan could potentially overlap when repasting twice and that was not it.

Its noticeable when there are rpm changes right? Thats when mine was most noticeable.

With -175mv uv. My fans are either off or inaudible when just doing normal tasks like web browsing and word processing. And I'm using the over clock profile. During games its really not that loud imo. Most games barely push the 1070 past 60% usage anyways. TW3 is by far the hardest game I've tried.

-175mV is kind of a lot. I stuck to just -50. Maybe this weekend I'll test it out a bit more. Depending on if I decide I need to re-format again...

Don't think so. It works after you set it in bios but doesn't work after a shutdown. What is the appropriate use for it? When i have it on and i unplug my laptop (90% of the time i am plugged in) it will charge to my threshold 80% then stop charging.. Isn't that the same as 100% then stopping charge which i think is how win10 automatically does things?

The battery lifespan wil increase much with lower chargelimit, staying fully charged at 100% is the worst thing you can do to your battery.
