Anyone ever try out this Keynamics Aviator Laptop Stand?

    https://amzn.com/B008YKM13M

It looks like it might solve the in-flight gaming problem with the new Clevo.

It's sad that there is no hand size like feet so that you can suggest if your hand size is more than 10C don't go near this mouse and I can say Ok my hand size is 13D so I face problems with Logitech G700.

Guys. I have my unit from last friday. P670RS-G with 6700 . So far i am happy with it. Too bad that G-SYNC is broken. I updated EC and BIOS thanks to you.
    1. W10 states that my screen is 60Hz. Do you have 75Hz in your units? Maybe i did not install sth properly?
    2. Which is best software or software that you use to OC the screen?
    3. As we are near cooling pads etc.. anyone used sth like this? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OzGQ9qnBKlM/T9SMAHjyf9I/AAAAAAAABmU/LL1ZEdpxRPU/s1600/DSCN9259.JPG

Did anyone here get their Sager NP8152/8153 wrapped (Not etched)? I'm thinking of getting the lid wrapped and I'd like to see what it looks like and if it is glossy or matte etc. because I HATE seeing fingerprints on the lid. Curse my OCD...

Still can't decide between these four...

You guys are amazing. All the work you've done to try to solve the fan control problems, backlight bleed, external monitor lag, driver updates, etc. It's really the kind of thing I'd expect the manufacturer/resellers to take the lead on. Honestly I'm pretty frustrated as a consumer because I'm not an expert on any of this and the fixes are sometimes complicated. At this point I'd return my 650 and maybe re-order when they've solved these problems. Unfortunately I'm now outside of Xotic's return window.

I think that with Clevo in general, and with new laptops in particular, this is a bit of an "enthusiast" segment. So the fact that tweaks are required and users are expected to be able to sort their problems out comes with the territory. For example, resellers I talked to pretty much expected that I might repaste the laptop myself upon getting it. This is not exactly sep 1 when buying a non-enthusiast model from a more mainstream brand.

Hey guys, I recently got my p650rp6-g (the one with the 1060 and 15" screen), the first days when I was shutting down windows, or restarting, it was fine, then, I started using an external monitor (working fine), but when I shut down or restart, since that infamous windows update from some days ago my external monitor DOES shut down, while my laptop keeps staying "on", by on I mean the screen is black but turned on, the keyboard has still the rgb lights on and the fans are still spinning, the only way for me to shut it down it's to just press the button... is there a fix for this problem of mine? Thanks!

I am looking at getting the P670 / P650 RS models. Thanks for the discussion so far. Was very helpful!

Those with high cpu utilization on connecting external monitors, can someone please try uninstalling the Xbox app (or disabling the default screen record feature) to see if it helps?

A friend had been getting frame drops, capped fps, high utilization with external monitor on a y50 due to this after recent win10 update.

from the few ppl that got the 4K (soon to be me since mine is production atm) said that there is little to no light bleed and it is great idea since a 1070 is overkill @ 1080p gaming!

I thought the panel didn't matter for the external monitor lag? @Kittys I think has a 4k panel and this problem. Or am I misremembering?

What I really want to know is if any of the other 1060/1070 laptops not made by Clevo have this problem. If this is an nVidia driver issue then MSI and other brands should have the same, right?

Can confirm my friends and my own 4K panels have very minimal light bleed. (Pro tip unclipping the screen where the lightbleed is present appears to reduce it)

To be fair, I actually like the SlateGo Mini. Definitely a bit pricey for what it is, but I like the look (and for what's it's worth they get good reviews).

While Amazon sells a few 15" x 11" cutting boards, they tend to be thick and heavy (which you want in a cutting board) and I don't trust myself not to crack one drilling holes in it =P.

Hey guys, just wondering what your temps are like.

Playing Runescape (lol) right now, everything Ultra, I'm approaching 75-77 degrees on both cpu and gpu. Are these normal? Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (supposedly) paste is used. Specs in sig

EDIT: Btw, for those with 1080p screens, what scaling do you use? I've been on 1366x768 for the past 5 years or so and my god text is so small! I'm at 125% right now

I actually I really like the Logitech M557 Bluetooth mouse. It's been great for light couchtop gaming on an ultrabook ( https://amzn.com/B00JUHDYSO ).

I should probably consider trading up, but I'd like to keep the mouse small and travel friendly.

I used to use a Logitech trackball, but my thumb started bugging me from over use. Still, the latest version (M570) looks nice.

Is Bluetooth generally going to be a bad choice? While I haven't had too many problems over the last few years, I may notice issues more on a high performance rig like the Clevo. I definitely like not having to lose a USB port for a wireless dongle (though there are more ports on the Clevo than my ultrabook).

The XBOX app has nothing to do with issue, this is a driver conflict with the Intel chipset, I essentially killed the problem by going into MsHybrid mode, disabling the laptop screen which then disabled the Intel graphics, and running 2 external screens alone on the nVidia drivers/1070. If you want to run a multiple monitor setup with the laptop screen enabled, you will probably have issues as documented. If I run in Discrete with all monitors enabled, I get ~20%+ CPU usage. If I run in MsHybrid with all monitors enabled, CPU usage is normal but then my graphics performance is choppy.
Yeah I thought I was in trouble when I first booted up my Clevo, decided to do some upgrades, and then the laptop stopped booting up. I have sorted out all my current issues and my P670RS-G is running great, but do not expect flawless performance right out of the box with these kinds of machines. Remember the good old days of the first Dell Inspiron "desktop replacements?" We're now essentially in the hot rod age of laptop customization.
I will say this regarding the 1070, with this you play all current games in 4K, or play every game coming out for the next 2-3 or maybe 4 years at 1080p. My 1070 crushes everything at 1080p and I will probably not go all 4K for awhile.

A few days ago I wrote that the fan noise on my NP8152-S was quite loud. I wrote into XoticPC customer support about it and here's the response I got:

"I am also a Sager owner and after trying to reduce fan noise for my own system, have come to the conclusion that Sagers are simply loud."

Yep, so I was told by customer service that I just have to put up with it..

That's not a very knowledgeable response. There is a new EC that fixes the fan profiles. Around page 230 of this thread or so. Should reduce fan noise by quite a bit.

True I still don't trust the Bluetooth connectivity which surprised me since you can connect up to 3 device so switch over each device is not an issue but i hate the dongle which is also an option. I think the newer Bluetooth technology is been doing very well so not an issue nowadays compared to Bluetooth 2.0 or something like that.

I've been monitoring this thread for quite some time waiting to see if various issues are resolved on recently shipped laptops. It's a lot of money to spend with so many complaints. When you receive your newly built laptop, I would like to know if you are experiencing any of the following problems:

    1. Not an issue, but what version of BIOS and Embedded Controller (EC) does the laptop have?

Issues reported (might be others I lost track of):

    1. Extremely loud cooling fan noise due to the fan control profile missing mid level fan speed levels. (reportedly fixed with a newer BIOS and/or EC version that may or may not be installed on newer shipments.)

    2. Hooking up an external display while in discrete GPU mode causes ACPI.SYS to utilize near 20% of CPU utilization.

    3. In MSHYBRID mode, selecting "Second Screen Only" via Win+P, Windows on the external display will start to lag.

    4. Near unacceptable levels of display backlight bleed.

    5. Display with pixel inversion artifacts that are more noticeable on blues and oranges.

    6. While using "Second Screen Only," it can take a long time to wake up the computer from sleep/hibernation.

Will do that sir, but the one thing that I really don't care about is sound since I usually wear headphones but I will ask around the office if the sound of the laptop annoys them when used at max. Another would be definitely for the second screen since I do use a projector and multiple screens not only at work but also at home so lets see how that goes!

Thank you @Neobunny for that and hopefully everything goes according to plan!

I get 77 degrees on GPU myself when playing "The Witcher 3" - yet I never got above those Temps rightnow. Still: with games that are a little less demanding and/or games that are FPS capped (v-sync / g-sync / RivaStatistics / etx.) you might sitll expect temps around 75 as the GPU colcks up and uses more power. Care to look at the mhz/voltage distribution:

    mhzvoltage1.PNG

You can get lower temps (especially with less demanding and/or capped games) by editing the voltage distribution.

    mhzvoltage2.PNG

You do this with MSI Afterburner. When in the Main Window you press CTRL + F andthis Graph will appear. You then are able to set each mhz/voltage state seperately (grey dots).

    For Best results:
    - OC your GPU to the stable maximum
    - Load a demanding game (best with Downsampling enabled ;-)
    - Play it for some time (without any frame cap) till the max heat is reached (about 77 degree)
    - Have a look what max core clock you can reach under this conditions
    - open the voltage/frequency curve editor in afterburner (CTRL+F)
    - drag every grey point right of the maximum core clock (1721mhz in my case) to the same level
    - save the profile

-> you are now able to reach the maximum overclocked core frequency while avoiding overshoots due to the auto boost. This will save you some watts (up to 20) and some temps (2-4 degree) in less demanding games while not limiting you in more damangin ones.

    Best regards

    phila

P.S.: After saving and reloading the voltage/frequency curve sometimes jumps a little bit. You will need to do some adjusting. Just have a look that the line right of your max desired core clock is absolutely straight. Even thought this method is in fact undervolting while overclocking - YOU DO ALL OF THIS EDITING AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Popped into the office now, set up with 2 screens in MSHybrid mode. Physical set up is [External Monitor] [Laptop]. When I extend my screen, virtually it becomes [Laptop] [External Monitor] so it's rather awkward. I can't change which side the extended screen is as the external monitor appears in Nvidia Control Panel and the other screen appears in Intel Graphics Properties. Does this mean I have to go into discrete mode in order to be able to configure these properly?

Cheers for this, phila. We should compile useful stuff like this on the front page.

Are you saying you can't click and drag [Laptop] to the left of [External Monitor]?

If you change the setting that turns off Bluetooth to save power then Bluetooth mice work well.

However now I'm thinking of the Logitech wireless track mouse. Not Bluetooth but pretty cheap and very well reviewed. I used to game with the wired version a long time ago (they are nice got travel since you don't need a mouse pad).

Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying. The Intel graphics control panel only shows the laptop's screen and the Nvidia graphics control panel shows only the monitor. This is in MSHybrid mode though.

With every day that passes I'm getting more and more confused about my decision of ordering a P650RS-G because of all the problems that people have been facing on this thread with this laptop.

The parts for my configured system are yet to arrive in a day, so I'm reconsidering whether I should stick to the P650RS-G from HIDEvolution or get something like the latest MSi or Acer Predator 15 or GL502VS or something (those big name manufacturers).

I had no proper idea about Clevo systems until very recently and so have no clue about their overall build quality, durability and hardware-software compatibility.

Some advice in this regard would be appreciated @Xileforce @Galm17 @Meaker@Sager @Donald@HIDevolution

PS - are people getting Gears of War 4 with the GTX1070? Because many distributors are offering it with their new desktops AND laptops.
