Clevo updated their drivers list for P65xRP6. Updates include the Control Center (now .85). Still haven't tested what changed.

Bingo...flashing is the issue. I can do anything to the bios image even down to logos but even changing logo invalidates bios security signature.

I was hoping to at least give us back Sager logo without invalidation on stock bios as last ditch effort.

But I forgot to dump stock .02 bios to rip the bmp out....so oops

Could you elaborate on how you removed the chipset drivers, and where you got the latest drivers? Clevo, Intel?

None yet  I'm slowly working through every possibility suggested to me. Sager support said they were trying to replicate the issue, but that's the last I've heard.

How do I uninstall the chipset drivers though? Also, any idea if Sager has been able to replicate the issue @Meaker@Sager?

This review the owner has no lag problem connecting to external display. Any chance this lag is exceptional case?

Im worried about the external monitor lag. That is a real deal breaker especially if it is a chipset problem. Don't want to buy another intel laptop with a chipset fault. My asus k52je had freezing problems that were just unbearable. Hope they fix this with software... if not then i have to look for some other laptop... maybe even wait for Kaby lake.

+ZiisusChrist What lag are you referring to? In discrete mode I had zero lag. Are you talking about the integrated GPU?

    ZiisusChrist 1 hour ago
+Project Equatis Does your cores act normal when plugged in to external monitor? I just read Notebook reviews forum that there is a problem that when you use external monitor then one core of the cpu goes 100%. Im not sure, but i would not like to risk my money if that chipset is faulty. Not the first time intel chipset has problems. :D

    Project Equatis 1 hour ago
+ZiisusChrist Hmmm I don't want to give you an answer because I only used discrete GPU and not integrated when connected to the monitor. When I get the laptop back from California I'll try it with integrated.

If we get a prema bios itll be signed or without security capsule.

Oh how I love you AptioV...

That sites also pretty much dead regarding anything with V...Z170 also doesn't like custom bios so its all nearly legacy IV mods or lower.

Idiot question here. How do i set the voltage to negative in the bios? - will not let me go past 0 and cant seem to put - in the text field.
I have flashed with the latest XMG bios and ec.
    Thanks in advance!

Saw this comment and decided to retry discrete mode again (haven't tried it since I uninstalled gfe yesterday), and now the external display is smooth as butter o_O
Tried loading up sublime text, photoshop, chrome and a bunch of other apps together, worked perfectly.
Games don't lag anymore on my monitor and even works fine in powersavings mode/unplugged.

It doesn't matter if they lag, is your CPU usage higher when you plug in the monitor? I can play rainbow six siege on an external monitor with gfx maxed at 60fps, but my CPU usage is far higher as soon as I connect my display.

Anyone else noticing intermittent coil whine and other electrical noises coming from the p650rp6-g?? Seems to come from the right side, happens in idle or when doing light tasks, didn't notice it while gaming as I use headphones...

Okay, sounds like I'm retreading some old ground. Sorry for all the nUbe questions!

But here's another one =P, is the prema Bios a complete rewrite from the ground up?

Wow, I was just reading about the evils of UEFI. Does Clevo allow the "optional" ability to disable secure boot?

I guess one more dumb question... Can I install Linux on this thing? Sounds like that could be a problem...

So the 7200RPM version is 9,5mm, but after asking if there was a 7mm one, @Donald@HIDevolution added the 5400RPM 1TB 7mm HDD option, if any of you is interested in porting your SATA SSD's to the new machine!

I RMAd my p650rs-g about 3 weeks ago hoping that this problem will be fixed and I will get back properly working laptop. Now I got information from my reseller that Clevo is working on this problem but they need more time to fix. So instead of fixed laptop I will get my money back.

Hidden FUTURES! I come here for the tech talk, not an existential crisis!

Went into Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Uninstalled Intel RST (not Intel RAID, but if you use that you should probably remove that too) and Chipset software.

Then downloaded the versions from Phoenix's handy P870 post here (all the same really):
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p870dm2-3-drivers-mirror.795059/

This more or less fixes the ACPI.sys/system CPU pinning issue I have. For reference, I'm running dGPU mode, 3 external monitors (lid open, so 4 total) and using NV Inspector Power saver to cap the GPU at P8 state. The NVI fix is to deal with some weird flashing that happens on the desktop in dGPU mode.

As far as External display lag in MSHYBRID mode I believe this is a problem with "reverse-Optimus" (which is implemented natively since Win8.1 I believe). Basically, you have the Intel GPU writing into the dGPU buffer which probably creates a bit of a lag as it's not quite as refined as regular forward Optimus. Changing to dGPU bypasses that issue since the dGPU is responsible for all panels.

So I got my P650RS this afternoon at the office. Got home and spent most of the evening setting it up + drivers etc. Will most likely update my Clevo Center experience thread in my sig tomorrow evening.

Apart from the pressure exerted on the panel by the cover that makes it look like bad bleed, I'm pretty pleased so far.

One thing I'd like to suggest is maybe posts like the whole EC and/or bios updates or stuff like known issues should be put on the front page which might save a lot of people from digging through pages of information. I'm more than happy to do that task if possible.

I'm pretty much done for the day so no gaming done yet. By the way, how does one undervolt the CPU? I got the one with the 6700HQ.

I got my 650RP6 today and booted off a couple live cd's no problem, just finished a base Gentoo install without issue. I'll finish up the build here soon and report back, so far though no issues. I would say probably 95% of hardware out there you'll come across is supported on Linux to some degree. I've done dozens of personal builds and managed companies with thousands of PC's, servers, and devices running Linux. You'd be surprised what it can run on. :)

So here's a picture of the backlight bleed on my 650RP6 15.6" G-SYNC IPS panel, just got today from Sager. Obviously this picture is taken in a pitch black room with a pure black background and a medium exposure on my camera, so it looks a bit worse in this pic then what you really pic up with your eye. However, it shows there's definitely an unacceptable quality level, IMO. On the top if you push on the back of the screen where it's bleeding with your pointer finger and push on the front top of the bezel -> lid with your thumb it lifts the bottom of the bezel off the screen and the bleed goes away. So it's definitely just pinching it too tight in some spots, it seems. Might be worth disassembling and seeing if it can be fixed and still hold the monitor securely. Although I'd LIKE to think if it could be done (easily) then companies like Sager would've already.

That being said in normal operating conditions for most people it's not noticeable at all. I do unfortunately find myself on a pure black background often but I'm hoping the rest of the laptop's awesomeness will outweigh the screen issue. Will give it some time.

Just tried this on a drive I had lying around with a fresh os image. Can confirm, still the same issue on windows 7.

This seemed to somewhat fix the single core remaining constantly at 100%, however I notice several cores now start repeatedly fluctuating between idle and 80% as soon as I plug in a monitor, and keeps doing the same once unplugged. (Still better that the previous scenario at least)

Is this the same in your case?

Another pic with the front bezel off. It eliminates the hotspots on the top, there's still a couple on the bottom.

Exactly like mine. I ended up returning it, couldn't justify keeping it for the cost. It's a very common problem with the 1080p screens for this model. Seems like every one has that from varying degrees

What tended to give me problems are those things that are slightly different across laptop manufacturers. I've never had (much) trouble with Linux and desktops. Those are pretty uniform.

Wow that is pretty noticeable =( I was wondering what would happen if you took the bezel off so it was cool that you tried that. I was surprised it didn't help a lot more though. Is there some pinch point at the bottom of the screen?

Mine still floats around <10% . But the key is to look at the core clock and multipliers. Before the fix mine would stick at 2+ghz (spinning fans up as the CPU would go to over 50C) but now it idles properly at ~800mhz (8x multiplier) even with a bunch of stuff open.

I don't know, "hidden futures" would be a great marketing gimmick - as in "at some point in time your CPU will switch to extreme performance mode operating at 6GHz and spawning 12 additional cores" and in small print "extreme performance mode is only active while the system is shut down - booting the system will permanently disable extreme performance mode"

It's just a Logitech Anywhere MX with darkfield. It's nice for its size but I prefer a full size mouse, your palm hangs off the back. As for tracking it works great on any surface. I play most of my games with a game pad if possible so only really use it for DotA. It's fine for that.

Experiencing the exact same thing on the RS and it's confirmed by the reseller that it is actually the case not the actual panel itself.

Look for p650 screen disassembly on YouTube or just use some soft plastic and pry the bezel off from the screen's side and you will see what I mean. Though my reseller tried to dremel a tiny bit off to alleviate pressure with no luck.

EDIT: Didn't see the newer posts, damn Tapatalk. Yours is worse than mine. The bleed goes away completely after removing the bezel
