Most underwhelming about the notebook for me right now is the Keyboard - it feels just to spongy.

Honestly the only thing I want from a keyboard is lightning so I can game at night or use it at dark environment. I used crapy keyboards before but never cared since I can just hook my mechanical keyboard to the laptop!

Yes. If it is for gaming only then there is no problem. And @Galm17: Yes. The Keyboard itself is solid. But for typing (and I need to do a lot of typing besides the gaming aspect) I do not like it to much. To me the response of the keys feels as laggy as if you got V-Sync on ingame ;)

    Best regards

How would you compare it to an Ultrabook's "Chicklet" style keyboard? I've managed to get pretty used to those...

I worked on with almost every type of laptop keyboard from MSI's steelseries keyboard to ASUS's Zenbook "Chicklet" keyboards and i get used to those pretty quick.

I wonder if people got a chance to see this review I came across yesterday

Okay congrat what spec did you ordered? It again depends on the config you are going with.
Also I watched the review who is created by @ Equatis which in this forum so ask him any further question if you want!

Is it possible to switch from a 1080 to a 4k screen on the p650 afterward?

Are there any 4k panels with g-sync?

Yes there are 4k G-Sync panels though the machine must be G-Sync first to be able to use it.

It will depend on the port on the motherboard and getting hold of a higher pin count cable.

Where would you go to find these aftermarket panels? I there a way to tell which are gsync compatible?

After lurking this thread for the past few weeks, decided to go with the p650rs-g from a local reseller (metabox) last week with a 1080 panel & IC Diamond 24 repaste.

Laptop arrived yesterday and as expected the 1070 is a beast. Was able to run witcher 3 maxed out at 1440p for an hour, with temps barely crossing over 70C.

Backlight bleed wasn't as bad as I expected, and is mostly noticable in the dark with brightness settings higher than 30%:
    http://imgur.com/a/dR3Fd

The only thing that does bother me though is the external display lag. Seem to be having this on both hdmi and dp connections. Have tried the ec/bios/nvidia driver updates and running on hybrid graphics mode, still no dice. Only time this does not occur is if my cpu is close to idle, and if I close all open apps. (I don't seem to have the 100% cpu core usage issue which others have reported when attaching a monitor though)

Really a bummer since I hook up an external display 80% of the time I use my laptop. Hopefully there will be a fix out soon..

It's more the panel with the GPU, so it has to be exactly the right model panel along with a GPU with G-Sync (has to be shipped with a G-Sync panel originally).

Once the order influx dies down is it possible to send laptop back to sager for panel upgrades and pay for it that way? Or would reseller have control of that.

@Kittys you mentioned you disabled GFE. Any reason why? I am trying to figure out what software to keep/what software to use once I am doing the configuration after I get it.

It adds more services and bloat we do not need. I dont care for garbage auto optimization or auto updating or driver notifications or ansel or shield services etc.

Disabling all of that and their services allows more overhead for GPU to even perform better! (disabling streaming services gives most gain) So I wont have GFE until its forced upon us.

speaking of gfe, was just going through nvidia's forums and saw other people complaining about it causing external display lag issues. Ended up uninstalling it on my machine, and while there is still some lag present with my external monitor, its nowhere near as bad as it was before..

Hey folks, I just received an email from LPC letting me know my order of the P650RP6 has shipped, I should have it by Thursday!

It's sooner than I expected, but I am so excited, and hope it arrives without issue. :)

@phila_delphia how would you compare the P650 keyboard to other laptop keyboards? How about compared to a Chicklet style keyboard (i.e. found on many Ultrabooks).

4K Gsync or just a normal 120hz+ panel. Normal 4K display is around 120 Gsync panels around 180...so its not break the bank expensive either way.

Im digging the 4K display. The upscaling works pretty well, so while 4K is hard to drive you can make it look better than 1080p fairly easily.

I didn't notice any lag, but on external TV I was outputting to I was getting a lot of tearing, even though vsync was enabled. Any ideas? It's a 720p TV with 60hz 8ms response.

I had laptop sitting right next to it and laptop was fine. Solid 60fps no tearing. CPU usage definitely higher on external display but wasn't effecting fps. I'm just not sure slwhy it only tears on TV and not laptop display :/

    Edit:
Switching to only second display fixes it.

Yeah im really wishing sager just offered 4k on the rp6 to start with... Even the 6820HK/1060 variant european sellers are receiving from clevo is something i wanted.

I have no issues doing swap myself unless Clevo went double sided tape happy for front bezel.

Just got my NP8152-S and all I can say is "holy fan noise!" I play a non-graphics intensive game like World of Warcraft and it goes insane with fan noise. I've tried Quiet settings, I've tried putting graphics on low, I've tried automatic fan speed and custom fan speed. Nothing works. Just fans fans and more fans!

Anyone have ideas on how to cut back on the noise?

The new ec makes it so much better. I run it in over clock profile now for better temps. But auto is pretty quiet even in hard games.

hey everyone. just got my p650 with 1060 from GentechPC. a couple things right off the bat:
    1. got quite loud static when using headphones;
    2. my lcd panel option was basic, non-G-Sync model. GentechPC states it as a PLS type panel, which was even confirmed to me by their support (and to them - by Sager). well, it's not. however, it is an average IPS - LP156WF6-SPK1 to be exact. so for those buying G-Sync mostly for the sake of avoiding a crappy TN - you get an IPS even with a base model;
    3. my laptop was supposed to have no branding - but it does. it also had back panel installed incorrectly thus one of the small mounts was broken, and the panel doesn't quite sit flush there... so yeah, build quality and thoroughness are questionable and you should carefully check ur laptop before use.

otherwise, i've just installed w10, fans rarely kick in and seem to work fine. also, max fan speed (fn+1) is quite loud, though the sound itself is not irritating as with some laptops. a bit of light bleed is present, but can only be noticed in dark environment with dark screen - not bothersome.

that static hissing is bad though. will check the driver settings - mayhaps some xfi software amplifier causes that...

I would re-install the audio driver as it should do some noise cancellation and remove that.

    been there, done that :)

however, the issue has been fixed - just had to mute PC Beep level in the speakers settings. the hiss is now completely, - completely- gone.

i am also noticing slight stutters from time to time - cannot pinpoint the dependencies, but sometimes the mouse pointer just stops for a split second. have to check if other processes do that too - e.g. video playback seems to be working stutter free. might be just the wireless mouse issue.

UPD: noticed there are no fingerprint reader drivers on sager website. strange. will have to look elsewhere. Here is a direct dl link.

UPD2: thanks for the tip, will use dpc latency checker when get some time to sit down with the machine. for now, another observation - those stutters or freezes tend to happen when i press on notification area icons, will have to look that up.

Got the same model, mine from Xotic. Flash new ec if you haven't, helps a lot. No build issues for me EXCEPT one missing from the two keyboard screws. After receiving mine I went straight to muting the pc beep.

Edit: Although at first I noticed my cpu's not boosting to 3.5. Fixed after 1 or 2 restarts.

What you guys use for cooling? These buggers are enough for me. Been using 'em since my Msi GT628 (GTS160M). Helps a lot with cooling without the bulk of coolers. Easily detacheable too.
