That is one of the reasons I eventually settled on the P670RS-G. The tradeoff is of course portability, but I do not plan to take the laptop anywhere except for 2-3 trips for business per year. So to me the better screen was worth it.

Also, I just got an email that it went into pre-production! Whatever that means. Yesterday Ted told me that it would probably ship on Monday, so I am getting excited.

Nice! That's going to be a beast. Keep in mind lpc also offers prema once it's released. You will be happy with that machine. I only wish I had gone with the 6820hk so that I could tinker with one more thing. Then again I was already like $500 over budget so I probably made the right call xD.

By definition, isn't everything pre-production that isn't made yet?

I'm looking for Galm's panel review now.

Thanks for the updates guys, this is why I've been putting off the actual purchase and waffling on size. I'm almost definitely doing DTR (I've already got a 15.4" 7lb dell that doesn't bother me), don't have a hard budget, more of a common sense limit (why spend hundreds of dollars for a few percents or no use for 2 years), and will probably not get a nice high end laptop again for at least 3 or 4 years.

If you want full DTR clevo has lappies with desktop cpus but if you want power within whats still considered full lappy then this is right spot!

4K panels have higher sRGB% or w.e so they are great options. Go 17.3 for long term...youll crave the size later potentially (i always did)

I saw new Alienware 15 just came out. For me, the same configuration with 1070 4k and 6820 is nearly of the same pruce. What is your suggestion?

Yes, I blew my budget a second time - LPC was cheaper. But then those other performance issues started to pile up.

I used to use cooling pads under some Notebooks - especially my last one (gigabyte p34v5 ;-) but this is absolutely not necessary on this one. Clevor has finally learned how build a lofty casing and has also put ssome emphasis on thins like closing the gap between fans and heatspreaders - something you previously had to do with aluminium tape...

    Best regards

    phila

P.S.: As to G-Sync - have you ever tried leavin G-Syng and V-Sync on but then capping the FPS to 59 - this gives me almost the results I used to get with G-Sync on and V-Sync of....

I looked at that too. Biggest reason for me to take the Clevo was the AW weighed in over 7.5lbs lol. I lug a laptop around every day.

I would like to see some one do repaste the CPU and GPU too, by the way does any one know the thickness of the thermal pads on the DDR5 memory because I would like to replace them with Fujipoly once they are super conductive like 17 W/mK.

I called ahead of time to make sure that they had the configuration I wanted in stock. That's how I ended up at HIDevolution tbh. Although after talking to them I am really happy that nobody else had my configuration - the guys over at HID are phenomenal.

Nope. Donald from HIDevolution is on vacation until Monday, so I should get an update then. I think your best bet is to call and ask. I called and talked with him through the configuration I wanted and he let me know they had it in stock. When I previously called LPC Digital Larry told me they did not have it and it would take 3-4 weeks to get it. Just depends on what exactly you want I think.

Well, mine is in " Payment Review Complete" woo hoo! But seriously, HID's best guess is that my laptop will ship in 2-3 weeks. I can't really ask for better than that considering the high demand.

True that! It is kind of sad that the supply isn't there when the demand is high but there is not much they can do.

    @Xileforce @Kittys @Phoenix

So hey guys here's my friend's laser engraving! Something... kinda weird must have happened with some of the smaller bodies of water, (they're like a tad faded in parts?) but overall I think it looks pretty epic! It went farther to the sides than we were told too which is awesome.

So that's the only other laser engraving I'll have to show lol.

    Still running performance on it.

70 bucks. That would probably look really good, but it needs to be higher res. The laser engraver does best with vector images that can scale up indefinitely. The pixels you can see right now would show up like that on the cover lol.

Hey everyone! Just bought my first Clevo (P650RS-G) from HIDevolution with the 1080p display and the 6700hk. I was just wondering what the average turnaround for this model is now?

I've seen that some people are waiting weeks and others seem to only be a few days. Which parts are causing the holdup?

    Map P650RS temps

cpu 100% load: 74 auto fans, 68 max

gpu 100% load: 76 auto fans, 72 max.

Nice temps on it. Backlight bleed is almost the same as mine location wise, and also not much.

We don't know, email Donald or Ted at HID and just ask lol, they'll tell you. Also 6700HQ or 6820HK?

Well mine is still being being in pre-prodcution for two week now since I got mine with the 4K panel and i7 6700hq and that is the one of the configs that are being delayed since it is very popular. But which one you got the i7 6700HQ or i7 6820HK cuz there is no 6700hk. Your's probably going to be a bit quicker since it is the standard config.

lol @Galm17 we got the same question...

hi guys just a dumb question since it is my first time having a 4K screen.
    • is the aspect ratio of the screen 16:9 meaning the same as 1080p
    • what is the native resolution it it 3840 x 2160
also is the backlight bleeding acceptable on the 4K screens

    thanks a lot

Hi - yes the 4K screen is exactly 4 x a 1080p screen. That is, if you took 4 1080p screen and arranged them in a 2 x 2 grid, then shrunk the whole grid down you would have a 4K screen. This also means that the aspect ratio of a 4K screen is the same as the aspect ratio of a 1080p screen.

Early reports indicate that the light bleed with the 4K screens is acceptable.
