Some resellers ask which os are you going to install before you purchase without os. I've seen the option on some sites. My guess is that they use a different bios for each version of windows. I've heard that the prema bios also allows for any of the versions.

I'll be trying a win7 install this weekend when my p670 arrives. I have an unopened win10 stick ready to go also since I didn't learn about the importance of bios matching the os (weird and terrible imo).

Win7 works with some of my needed programs that don't work in 10.

Sure I lose out on dx12 for now but I can always upgrade later as games get better. Plus no forced updates!

I've only seen win10 drivers so far so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Nice to hear! Is your win 7 on a CD drive or a USB stick? I had an issue where i tried to install win 7 from a USB stick on to a Quanta barebones where it would not get past the "checking for updates" stage.

USB stick. Im wonder if what you dealt with what was the usb3.0 ehci issue with win7 installs. I patched the USB stick with 3.0 drivers def not from sager or clevo. I also heard you can do a Ubuntu live install to load the drivers

Hello. Can somebody post your P650RS AIDA temperatures while gaming? There is 121 pages not a single post about it.
Also if possible AIDA only CPU stress test temperatures
    Thx in advance.

Weird thing I noticed was with the Ubuntu live CA is it did not recognize the keyboard on this laptop. Btw good luck getting drivers to work on this laptop since all the published drivers are in windows 10 format (not sure how many of those support 7)

Most I have seen are 60hz but it's down to the panel used. Also don't forget in discrete mode display tweaking is pretty easy.

Yea, the IPS panels are not yet certified by Nvidia for gsync, will have to wait for IPS panels. Good TN panels are not that bad though, don't know the quality of the TN panels in latest MSI models though.

I really hope a day comes when Clevo will offer 120hz display option g-sync or not for p6xx series. A lot of people overlook the importance of display especially in a gaming laptop, it should be considered right after performance.

    Hi guys,

2 days ago I received my new Clevo P650rp6 from Obsidian PC. I choosed them because their prices and their rep in the forum @john@Obsidian .The days before the buy I asked him a lot of question and we discussed about sending times, he even facilitated me a way to "reserve" a unit and do the next day the full payment. His treat was personal, professional and funny sometimes. He and his team did their best to assemble and send the unit the same day I did the payment.

About the notebook I can't say more that hasn't been said before. I'm in love with my new machine, I really like the notebook dimension, the look and feel. Maybe it is a little heavy but in overall It's nice.
I haven't used it all the time I would like but it goes like a charm. I put into it a 500GB Samsung Evo 850 SATA SSD and, obviously, goes really fast. I'll upgrade it with a nvme ssd in a few months to give it more speed.

I have played to to TW Attila, Red Orchesta 2, COH 2, BF3 and it is like "learn" to play again.

Thx, but I found another way... I manualy replaced storahci.sys file with newer version. It works - all lags and errors are gone. At last I feel I have "little" monster on my desk :)
BTW my 670RS-G has scored 4997 pts in 3Dmark Time Spy and 12482 pts in Fire Strike. What do you think about these results?

I would like to see nvidia stop with the whole gsync racket and fully embrace VESA Adaptive Sync. There's no reason display manufacturers should be paying to get certified for the clearly less rigorous nvidia 'standard' if they are already able to get VESA certification much faster for much less money.

I get 12671 on firestrike and 5068 on timespy on P651\1070. Quite close then. Thought that P670 would be a few percent faster due to better cooling.

The only one with the worse cooling is the p650rp6. The both 17 inchers and the p650rs(1070) have the same cooling. Pretty sure they are same thickness too. Ones just a bit wider. So those three should be relatively equal.

It is better because it does not have to send frame information to the igpu and also allows gsync to work so...unless your going to be away from wall enable discrete~

This explains why it behaves so much differently than my desktop monitor with G-Sync!
They shouldn't even call it G-Sync then, that's just stupid.
We need Freesync as the only standard embraced by AMD and Nvidia or something.

right now i just close the laptop screen shutting off the monitor. i changed the 'close lid' setting form sleep to do nothing. everything works great after that. i haven't had a problem coming back from sleep before with only 2nd monitor on. i'll try to duplicate the other problems to see if it's all systems. something that helped with the lag before was turning off 'hardware acceleration' in all browsers

I ordered the 650rs the day it came out. I think I was one of the first orders sager started on. But I canceled it because I had zero info on the display. I almost got a 1080p, and now I want a 4k screen.

XMG released their updated EC firmware (the one notebookcheck wrote about in their review). The installation is indeed quite tricky, with no manual/guide included.

    This guide worked for me:
    http://mysn.co.uk/support/index.php...e/View/21/0/how-do-i-update-my-notebooks-bios
The german pdf guide in their download section did not.

    Here are my first impressions:

    - The fans change speed very slowly (spinning up and slowing down).
    - Automatic and Overclock profile are now switched. The fans spin slightly faster in the Overclock profile, leading to slightly lower gpu temps and therefore slightly (~30MHz) higher boost clocks. This makes more sense imo than the other way around (in the original version).
    - Temperatures are about the same.

Take this with a grain of salt. Because of the time in between playing with both versions I my have made an error. It took a while to get the uptade working. Oh and its 3am...

No way Fallout should be dropping to 40 fps on a 1070. Hell I played it at way over 60 fps maxed on a 390x. Either some silly setting like max shadows is screwing with you or some cpu bound area or view distance or something. The 1070 will be futureproof on a 1080p screen for a long time, especially with DX12, Vulkan, and basically devs dumbing graphics down to console levels. Worst case scenario in 5 years turn down the eye candy or drop the resolution one notch to 1344x768 or whatever, 1600x900, etc.

Well, you know Nvidia...xoticpc offers non gsync model for p650rp and p670rp. Difference is $100 and $50 respectively. Not sure mobile gsync is even worth it even for 1060, especially on 60hz display. Definitely should go nongsync panel if on strict budget.

Does anyone have fan noise impressions between the 1060 and 1070 P670's?

Would love the 1070... but not at the expense of a large increase in fan noise.

P670 I wasn't able to install win7 boot that was slip streamed with the general intel 3.0 drivers. Tested with and without uefi in bios. Basically froze at the first page of win7 setup. Couldn't use Ubuntu live USB stick either.

I tested both win7 install USB and Ubuntu live USB sticks on another laptop and they ran/installed fine. Damn you Microsoft and bios! Maybe it would have worked if I had the USB drivers from sager for p670 but they don't have it available. Neither does clevo

Ended up using win10. Will maybe vbox 7 if I need it.
