Try http://www.evga.com/precisionxoc/ it's built specifically for Pascal cards because they over clock differently than before. It looks pretty cool. Btw that fps is crazy.

What's with the added markup for the new Intel 600p SSD's from the resellers?

    Newegg/amazon have:
    600p 256/512GB $105/$190
    850 Evo 250/500GB $95/$170
    Difference $10/$20

    vs.

    XoticPC (upgrading from 256GB X400)
    600p 256/512GB +$40/$145
    850 Evo 250/500GB +$20/$110
    Difference $20/35

So Xotic is tacking on an extra $10 to $15 premium for no reason. It makes no difference to install a Samsung or Intel card, is this simply a new product markup that will eventually come down? I just don't understand what's going on here. What am I missing?

Thats very interesting. Never seen anyone do that kind of thing before in my experience. Perhaps taking this to a thread that discusses SSD pricing could wield you an answer :)

I just assumed everything was marked up if you got it through them or another reseller vs doing it yourself. it's like adding a second middleman. Are the other upgrades not this way?

They have precisionx but they made a new one for Pascal only called precisionxoc. It's because of GPU boost 3 I believe and the way Pascal handles voltages and frequencies. Apparently it enables better over clocking by modifying the whole voltage curve versus a static increase.

Thanks Jared, that's a good idea. I just stuck it here since my P650RS is on backorder until the 20th and Xotic says I can make changes no problem up until the laptop starts assembly. Wondering if the 600p is worth the extra $35 over an 850 Evo.

Well it's pcie whereas the 850 evo isn't as I recall. So you are probably looking at much higher speeds. The bigger question is will you notice. Boot times may be a second faster and you may shave a second or two off load times for some games. I've got a pcie SSD in my laptop and its definitely fast but I'm not sure it's a huge difference from my desktops sata SSD. It likely depends on what you do with it.

    Edit:
For $35 I'd say it probably is tbh. That's not too bad for a pcie SSD.

    More edit:
Just looked it up and it says anywhere from around 700-1800mbs sequential read speeds. Sata drives are about 500 so that's a pretty nice jump.

I'm not sure, I'll try them tomorrow.

I did call them last week and asked if their own prices come down in the next month while I wait, if they would price match themselves. Answer I got was negative :(

Long time board reader, first time poster here.

Received my P650RS-G a few days ago, got it with 6820HK and had the paste replaced, bought SSD, HD and RAM separately. Unfortunately, one of the sticks of RAM turned out to be corrupt, will have to get that replaced, so won't be able to play around with the laptop for a bit...

    First impressions:
    - Unboxing --> great build quality, loving that aluminum!
    - Installing the hardware --> lots of screws, few finicky ones, but went ok.
    - Turning it on --> 1) holy backlight bleed, Batman! :/ It's the regular 1080p IPS screen. I haven't had these amounts of backlight bleed, like, EVER. Colors of the screen are fine. 2) ahhhh, I got a white keyboard, not an RGB one :/
    - Installing Windows --> fast!
    - Running some benchmarks --> sweet!
    - Temperatures --> CPU-stressing with Prime95 got a few of the cores to ~80 degrees, CPU-speed was at 3 GHz. (While running Prime95 I got a few errors, so I then started to test the RAM and haven't gotten to GPU-stressing yet.)
    - Noise --> While CPU-stressing you can definitely hear the fan(s), but it's not very annoying IMO.

Overall I'm relatively happy, but I'm not sure yet what to do with the screen... I'm going to use it with a TV or external monitor part of the time, but I also want to use the laptop screen for gaming (G-sync!)... Anyone else have experience with the backlight bleed on this system? Is it very common? I've seen a few remarks in this thread on it already. Anyone having the screen replaced? Not looking forward to the hassle of removing all hardware, sending it back, having to wait etc. A couple of the screws were rather finicky, was lucky to get one of them loose and tight again.

//Oh, Fast Sync totally ROCKS! Be sure to turn it on in the Nvidia control panel.

Thanks for sharing! The backlight bleed is a bit worrisome. I don't have mine yet but will check when it arrives. On my current laptop i notice it bad when the screen is black during boot for instance but can't see it unless I really look once I'm actually using it. Is this the case on the clevo or is it noticeable constantly?

Btw where did you order from? Curious on white keyboard.

    Edit:
What's the refresh rate? On the 17 inchers it appears to be 75hz

Gah! I just wish they didn't have that added premium. It's making my principle meter spike. I'll probably stick with the tried and true Evo. Looks like the 600p is having some growing pains anyway. Thanks for your help though!

Haha I totally get ya. And no problem. Evo 850 is a nice ssd. I would've gone with that but when I decided to go for a p650rs instead of a p650rp6 I sort of killed my $1400 budget...so I just stuck with the sandisk haha. I literally have a second hand SSD made by monster(and I didn't even know they made ssds...) That I got for like $30 in my desktop and it's plenty fast for me. I'm sure even the x400 will be a step up. In fact, the entire laptop is faster than my desktop in every way except maybe CPU xD technology moves so fast...

Hi Xileforce! To answer your questions:
    - The backlight bleed is most noticeable when the screen is all black, like when booting, but I also noticed it when I tried Magrunner yesterday, a rather dark game (Cthulhu-themed first person puzzler ;)). I tried taking a picture just now, but it's too bright in my living room, so it's not that noticeable. When I first booted my machine, it was 10 PM and totally dark. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow evening (not home tonight).
    - I got the laptop from LaptopPlus, in the Netherlands. Nice guys when I spoke to them over the phone and through e-mail, got the laptop delivered quickly and packed securely.
    - The screen seems to contain a 60Hz panel.

Hi Green Grass! The 4K LCD is a very different panel, I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Thanks for the info! That's a little reassuring I guess. Still don't like to see that though. Will be interesting to see how far the display can be over clocked. Even my 8 year old monitor can go up to like 73hz. I would hope at least 75 is doable on the laptop. Has anyone tried headphones? The thing apparently has an ess sabre DAC which are supposedly pretty good. I often play games like rainbow six siege where sound is the deciding factor in whether you win or lose. Just curious how well it powers headphones.

P650RP6 here. The backlight bleed is definitely there but I really only noticed it during black loading screens both on rocket league and NBA 2K16. That's really a true black screen and I didn't really notice it in any other situation.

I have yet to watch a movie on this machine so I fired up the the one with the darkest look on my youtube home suggestions lol.

Well, on really dark scenes you can notice a light bleed but nothing compared to true black. It's just a really small area and I guess I only noticed because I was looking for it.

I'm usually someone who when is annoyed with something tends to overlook it and always notice it but I can't say that's the case. Anyway, noticing or not is always subjective and I guess you'll have to check it for yourself.

Sabre DAC only available on P670RP6-G, P6xxRS, not available with the P650RP6

Also the 4K LCD is non G-Sync.

4K is non-Gsync?!?!? are you sure? I was told they were both g-sync, that's why I ordered the 4k model. (not from obisidian-pc btw). If that's true it's really irritating, I'm expecting delivery any moment now.

Is there an easy way to test / look for gsync once I have the laptop?

Hummm, well the current listed panels where i place my stock orders are NON-GSYNC for both 3K and 4K. BUT maybe the shop where you bought yours got it´s hands on a different panel, so i might be wrong about that.

To test G-SYNC put your laptop in DISCRETE MODE (in the CONTROL CENTER APP or BIOS), restart, open NVIDIA Panel, GSYNC option should be there.

The 4K GSync displays are Samsung PLS panels and were available on the older RG models as well. In the U.S. at least most of the 4K panels are GSync.

I will be testing the DAC out when mine arrives. I have excellent headphones and some other DACs to compare with.

I was to to order from laptopplus until I found the only RGB KB is UK English but not USA. Besides I found no 4K options from them. They must be ordering them from a UK reseller but not directly from Clevo.

I finally decided to order from USA and have it shipped to the netherlands.

BTW when did u ordered that? It's in back order now I think.

Guys. Is there any good reason to pick the FHD screen instead of 4K? I meant if something goes wrong with 4K at least we can lower the resolution to FHD can't we?

Won't the build quality of 4K screen be a little better as they r high-end products?

So is there any drawback on a 4K screen?

Matte coating my friend. Eurocom's own site lists that exact same product model but says its matte. Someone somewhere is adding a coating to it.

Main reason is battery life. 4K will impact it. But yeah I strongly prefer higher res.

4K battery life would probably be like 4+ish hours instead of 5.5ish or so.

Not sure here, never even considered FHD so I never looked :p

It is extramely hard to get 4k either in EU or in China. Sad :(

I wish it can be of higher build quality and less dead pixel or light leak.

With this high res screen, Maybe it is interesting to do some Hackintosh stuff.xD

That's the opposite of what I said. Likely around 4+ with 4k. Maybe more like 4 but idk, while 1080p should be above 5 hours.

4K screens are all 60hz. Only one in the world exists above that and its a desktop monitor for 5 grand.
