Electrical tape is best but the tape that comes with it should last sticking it down in another place just fine.

- It is lighter and thinner, but not by a whole lot.
- The case lid and palm rests are brushed aluminum, but it is thin, and the rest of the chassis is plastic, so overall it gives an impression of sturdy plastic rather than solid aluminum like a Macbook Pro or new Dell XPS. It is a solid construction, so don't worry about that aspect.
- Keyboard is great and very quiet.
- Temps while gaming may or may not be hotter than your Alienware, but it runs quite cool and quiet in general.
- Battery life will be much worse than your Alienware, even in MSHYBRID (Optimus) mode. I would expect around 3 hours of usage on a full battery, tops.
- There are 2 M.2 slots, one is PCIe and one is SATA.

I have the 1080p screen and no light bleed at all. That said I almost returned it at first, everything was blurry. I found a trick to set scaling at 124% instead of default 125% and that fixed it beautifully.

@frank_the_bunny: Many thanks for your helpful comments.
Would appreciate if you could answer 2 more specific questions:
1. What sequential transfer rates are you getting with your 950 pro?
2. In your opinion, is the P650RG sturdy enough to handle heavy commute (2h/day). Specifically concerned about alleged lid weakness, as per the comments under this review (but also kind of visible in the review itself at 03:00 - wouldn't get any flex or shaking with the AW15):
" marco knight 1 week ago
thanks for the fast replyThe worst thing about this laptop is that flex in the screen. You'll have to be very careful when it's in a bag and stuff. My friend has one and has marks on his screen due to leaving the power pack on top of the laptop!"

From what I've read, seems like you're very lucky

Is it just me or the ips display have terrible color? White is too bright and colors like orange is too orange. Everything looks darker. It's saturated.
Maybe it's the lack of driver might be responsible. (I couldn't get Intel vga driver to woRk, just nvidia). -
-
As for the screen, which one do you have? You need a calibrated profile for it (ask your reseller) and you can try tweaking colour settings in NVIDIA control pannel..

Thanks again Meaker an Xriptix for your insights.
I have decided on the P751DM al last. After evaluation I think I prefer having more processor even though the GPU is not the best.
I´ll be moving to the other lounge then.
Have a nice new year everyone.

Would be good to find out some details about it. -

Am I wrong in that assumption or is there a screen variation between Clevo resellers? -
Not feeling so hot about the new ips display w/gsync. My 5 year old display looks better (not ips).

I have the LG 156WF6 (046F) in mine, and the colours was pretty decent out of the box, but of course, can be made better with calibration, or downloading a ICC calibrated profile.
I guess it depends what you compare it to - I have a thoroughly calibrated, high gamut and pretty expensive Dell screen right beside my laptop to compare it to, and straight out of the box the laptop display was quite decent, as I said, and became better with a properly installed ICC profile. Unfortunately I no longer have access to proper calibrating equipment, so a ICC profile calibrated with a similar screen and in a similar machine is the next best thing. And of course, it will never have the colour gamut or accuracy as my Dell.
By the way - you know that calibrated ICC profiles from www.notebookcheck.net can be downloaded with evey laptop they review, right?
But as for the P650RE, do not use that ICC profile from the reviewed Schenker XMG P506 - it's the wrong screen in their test object. Instead you go to the review of the Schenker XMG U506 ... that's the right screen, and it's a very similar machine. The ICC profiles can be found in that small info box right next to the text where they write about the display quality.
How to properly install a ICC profile you can see here.Last edited: Jan 3, 2016ryukenden likes this. -
It seems that the display LG 156WF6 (046F) is not quite the same as the one I've got in my AW15 R2 (LG 156WF6, model lgd04b9). I loaded the ICC profile advised above and it looked like cr@p - it was way too bright and washed out, I guess the Clevo display is dimmer? Below is a reference I found to the 046F panel. Shouldn't be that bad, was used in an older AW15.

You're correct, the 046F is not the same display as the d04b9.
The Alienware machine with a AMD card is very unlikely to produce a calibrated ICC that is usable for a machine with a nvidia card, even if the screen is similar. -
In general, is there a good way of translating between model id as above and the hexadecimal id?
BTW my AW15 has 980M w/Optimus, same as Clevo P650RE. There is an AMD model although I haven't heard of anyone actually buying one.Last edited: Jan 3, 2016 -
I was referring to the AW in the review you linked to. Using that ICC for a LG046F screen hooked up to a Nvidia card would not be a good idea, I think.
The LG LP156WF SPB1 = LG046, I'm told to believe. There are different versions of the LG LP156WF - SPK1, SPA1 are those I've seen - what those differences are, is not clear (to me), but I'm guessing it's with or without touch, matte or glossy, maybe with or without G-Sync .... I don't know. But they're different, so probably not a good idea to use a ICC calibrated for one of the versions with another version. It's not necessary a good idea to use a downloaded ICC at all, for all I know - you really should calibrate your own particular screen set in your own particular system, even if it's all "identical". But it may be the next best thing, rather than not calibrating at all.etern4l likes this. -
I tried the ICC from the Schenker U506 review on the notebook check, since someone suggested it's worth giving it a try for the P506, which I presume has the same screen as mine and Optimus. Didn't work out, but thanks for pointing out why possibly not.

i went to their website and use ICC profile U505, the result is a lot better than default that ships with the computer. Also note, I didn't buy with OS, so I install windows 10 myself.
What is funny is that I use U505 by mistake and try U506 makes the screen more orange. After a few minutes I loaded heartstone for a quick comparison.
What I've concluded is the profiles for U506 gives a more natural color orange/yellow, not over-saturated like the default profiles. The whites are less white but its much easier on the eyes. Default white makes my eyes bleed. Too bright.
Profile U505 is a step up from default. Colors aren't as wash out as the default. I thought this is the correct profile at first but upon closer inspection, some of the orange highlights are too dark and over-saturated. Still better than default.
I compare these profiles in max brightness. Need to test how i like them when gaming. When I first got this laptop(default profile), certain areas was too dark to see, like going into a cave. Hopefully these will fix the issue.Last edited: Jan 3, 2016 -

Every screen is different even between two samples of identical models, you can either try and find a profile that matches the best with your panel or try manually tuning it if getting your own colorimeter is not an option.

Guys, anyone experienced a problem with key repeat rate being very slow, like 1/s, despite it being set to fastest in the control panel?

Is there any info/guide on 3g/lte module installation?
Has someone tried to accomplish this?

I have a spyder 3 pro and the FHD LG with gsync I can install and create a ICC profile if some one what's one. I also have an older x-right DTP94 and can manualy calibrate the intel and NVidia cards individually.

So the re-seller I purchased from is telling me that I need to put thermal pads on my M.2 drive.
Ive read that the 950 Pro might overheat but mine is just an 850 Evo M.2.
Do you think I need the thermal pads? I'd rather not open up the machine again but if it will help prolong the life of my drive I will do it. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Put them on, but for the EVO it's not really needed no.

I was wondering what you'd attach those pads to as well. They can't just hang off the m2 drive with nothing on the other side.

Where do you get the thermal pads for the 950 Pro and how do you apply them? I don't remember seeing anything resembling that in the packaging for my 950 Pro...

I have 2 questions please..
1. What's the refresh rate of P650RE3 1080p g-sync monitors and can I overclock it (and up to how much)?
2. Which OS should I get, W7, W8.1, or W10? -
According to anandtech.com's review of the 950 Pro, the 512 GB version did have some throttling issues under certain circumstances, presumably temperature related, while the 256 GB version did not show any such issues.
