I wish somebody with i7-4820k had measured temps for idling, low load. it is deal breaker at the moment. I don't want to have constant heater on the table.

i have always wondered 4820 is 4c/8t only differ from 3770k is number of pings why it uses so much power still beats me.

The TDP rating is just a max value, it's not the actual consumption, they should be fairly similar it's just the 4820 will turbo more aggressively.

If you set it up as a RAM disk that would be pretty sweet, did you see any price for it?

A german Reseller/Retailer wrote to me, Clevo has currently bigger problems with Ivybridge-E at the P570WM. A IvyBridge-E BIOS release is not in sight. What is the current status of other Reseller/Retailer?

Clevo is the primary manufacturer of the system components. If they're having issues with it, it's unlikely anybody will be able to offer the ability until they make some headway on the situation. I personally haven't received information on the issue though, so not much light to shed at this time.

This memory looks like good fake. If you chceck the label you'll find DDR3L 1333(9) 32GX72 LR... and that means the memory has 72 modules with 32gB each = 2304gB.

of course dude.. its meant to be a joke LOL. plus that is not sodimm if you look at the length of that thing. but it is probably not fake, and likely for servers =/

anyway, if clevos having issues with ivybridge i can assume theres no good guarantee for any good upgrades aside from GPU. wonder how long mxm 3.0b will last

Just ordered mine from mythlogic. I'm pretty excited, but it's a bit scary having something this expensive shipped internationally.

Yeah but the savings on such an expensive machine can be quite high. Also due to the shipping costs you usually get a reliable service.

so I was told clevo planning to release ivy-E compatible bios in november, with haswell E only around 4-6 months from now, wise to go for ivyE with older chipset? to be honest I'm really looking forward to ddr4 with 16gb stick, makes it 64gb ram but is that possible next year? 16gb, ddr4 ram sticks, sodimm, sounds too good to be true.

It has 32GB, it is not fake. It has a 72-bit memory data bus width, e.g. a 9 bytes width. This is ECC server memory as opposed to the 64-bit bus width in the case of non-ECC memory. Each individual memory bank/chip on the PCB has 4Gig (not same as 4GB) for a total of 9 x 4Gig = 36 Gig which approximates to 32GB.

I splurged a bit. I'll use it for both work and playing games. The main specs are:

    CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K
    System Memory: 32GB (4 x 8GB) , PC3-12800, 1600MHz SODIMM
    Video Adapter: 2 x NVIDIA GTX 780M 4096MB GDDR5
Hard Drive 1: Samsung 256GB 840 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
Hard Drive 2: 1TB 7200 32MB Cache SATA Notebook Hard Drive
Hard Drive 3: 1TB 7200 32MB Cache SATA Notebook Hard Drive

It cost around $4600 (not including shipping)

This is my third laptop from Mythlogic. I'm quite happy with them. Last time I used Aramex for shipping (local courier service), and they were a pain to deal with. I'm using DHL this time.

I've noticed Eurocom has IVY-E Listed for their Panther 4.0. Do the Canadian's know something we don't? Or do you think they just don't know better (its not like those things fly off the shelves).

Also, does anyone know if the Bios for IVY-E will also support the Xenon X5 26xx V2's?

I have 16 Gb of Kingston HyperX 2133MHz and 16 Gb of Kingston HyperX 1866 MHz. 1.35v. Which if either would work best in a Sager 9570 with 3930K Cpu? Also, will Ivy-E work in this system? Thanks

Still no 3D and no PCI-E 3.0? Does anyone know if the laptop is future proof? I mean i know, it's hard to tell but at least was it at least possible to swap 780M's to a first revision of P570WM which came with 680M's?

Just one of those things you have to decide whether the mobility is important to you or not. No doubt a desktop will be less expensive. Factor in the cost of the monitor and accessories and the price difference becomes smaller, but still going to be a gap and that's the price to pay to be portable.

A 260X is simply going to be outclassed by any of the graphics options that come in the P570WM as a sinlge card, a dual card config will dominate even more. Getting the same performance is going to require over $500 along with the power supply required to house that and a larger case. You are also forgetting the display.

I had selected GTX 770m card.
GTX 770m has according to Nvidia, 960 Cuda cores & 192bit interface, which makes it a 660, but since the card runs at about 100mhz less than the 660 the performance should be closer to a 650 Ti boost.
R260X is a faster variant 7790 and the performance is comparable to 650TI boost

so yea, Desktop is cheaper by atleast $1200 and more flexible for comparable performance.

having said that, I get the mobility angle, I'm a consultant and could use mobile workstation. infact i'd have bought one in a heartbeat if they had supported 64GB of ram. (run VMs)

While i'm also sold as soon as i see a 3-4k igzo/ips display in a dual gpu laptop i worry about 17" segment of high res screens. There're bunch of 15" and down 3k displays out there being manufactured for the last 1-2 years or so i didnt see any 17" screen higher than fullhd.

On the bright side, during 2014 the shipment of 4k displays will rise by 10 times according to the news and they become much cheaper so we might see them in gaming notebooks as well)
