They run perfectly! Can't be OCed though, but with the BIOS Mod they will Turbo to their full potential (without they don't Turbo).

Hmmm, gotta be a way to OC it. Somone has to have a way. Well it would be awesome to OC an 8 core. Although being 8 cores, probably take more voltage. So overall, would you recommend the 3930k? Or maybe a Xeon?

I really appreciate the help Prema and the mod! +1 rep :D

I asked once already, but I think you missed it. How do I install the 2 .bin files included with this download? I still haven't been able to get the raid 0 working, and I'm actually about to reformat and put in two 960 GB SSDs, so I'd really like to figure this out before I do that. :))))

    Cheers!

I have actually set it to high performance mode. That's what you mean right? I still only get it to go to 3.4 ghz on average.

I'm installing the driver for Raid 0 now.

EDIT: The Raid 0 Driver is working perfectly again! 900 mb read speeds here I come!! (I do video editing mainly with the machine). Thanks again!

By default it should be turbo boost to 3.8GHz when only one or two cores active. BIOS doesn't allow it turbo boost to 3.8GHz with all cores?

Intel locks down the XEON CPUs hard, no way to oc them.

Have to wait for Haswell-E next year to get 8 cores and that will be a new chipset.

Is there no 780M+P570WM buyer or reseller here? Which can upload the VBIOS, please?!

    I have a Windows 7&8 boot problem by upgrade from 680M to 780M (P177SM).
    P570WM BIOS 1.02.10 EC 1.02.08 (Prema Mod v2) + 780M VBIOS 80.04.92.00.09/.02

    Other User, same problem.

Resellers typically will not upload a BIOS on a public forum, its best to contact your reseller directly and they should be able to email it to you.

Try to change VBIOS of GTX 780M on 80.04.B3.00.10 (Nvidia GTX 780m - 'OC edition' - rev02 by svl7) it should works with your boot problems.
But before do it, beckup your original VBIOS :) in case if something goes wrong

It's an issue with using a 120Hz screen on non 3D model, nothing to do with vBIOS...working on a fix atm...

    Hello

I have tested your 780M vbios with my machine, initially configured with the 670MX SLI (which runs perfectly fine).
    My setup: 3930K,Single GTX 780M 16Go memory SSD Crucial M4 128Go Double PSU 330W LCD 120Hz

    So far:
    1) I still got the same issue with the 780M, it does not go past the desktop
    2) Prema has dropped me a BIOS, but it stil doesnt work
    3) I have tested with all the different ports: DVI, HDMI, DP - still same issue
    4) I start to believe I need an updated BIOS (the one that's supplied with the P570WM/780M setup) - could you possibly drop me that one ?
    5) I have tested all the OS, still result in the same issues.

Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

any ideas if this machine will support ivy E? from what I understand chipset supports it, same socket, but in the end things maybe up to clevo. also in regards to unable to under volt CPU, seems kinda stupid clevo would do something like this. 1.3v is way too much for stock clock or 4.0ghz overclocking. if this machine isn't going to change doesn't that mean ivy E will also run at 1.3v? imo same temperature regardless a 22nm vs 32nm.

lastly a good thing x79 and ivy E may support intel SSD overclocking, just saying.

Speculation can abound, but really the only definitive proof will be when they're actually released and tried out. I am in favor of the opinion that they'll be supported, but for the rest of your concerns, might be something that a fix is released for. We'll know soon enough.

well im unsure if clevo reads these forums but imo cooling isnt very good, even with modded bios it doesnt change much. if you retailers and resellers can bring these issues up to them and have them release a fix/firmware/bios change it'd be great

I honestly haven't had any customers of mine come back and say they're having cooling problems on these machines. They probably do get hotter than the other machines, but you do have to keep in mind that you're running a desktop CPU in a laptop. They usually have massive heatsinks and a fan directly attached to keep running at good temps in a desktop chassis, something that's not quite available in a laptop. I won't argue that there might be some room for improvement in the way the hardware handles the heat, but for the most part they're doing a pretty good job.

well i am obsessed with little things and i want to take this machine and push it as far as i can. if i can run 4.2 instead of 4.0 at the same temp why go for lower? i'd probably end up figuring out how well it can perform when i get mine, but of course performance isnt everything. i'd hate to have my machine run with max fan speed all the time @ 4.0ghz thats quite loud. just how many fan profile this machine got default? 0, low and high?

I would like to think so too but recently from tomhardware 4960x is just a bit cooler than 3930k, and 4930k es runs about the same temperature so overall can't get my hopes up.

Has anyone tried removing the CPU cover HS and exposing the die similar to mobile processors? I bet that would slash the temps by a very huge margin.

No, that makes no sense as far as I know. The heatspreaders are soldered with SandyBridge-E. This guarantees a very good heat transfer. Furthermore, without heatspreader you have problems to attach the CPU in the socket.

that's sux 'cause the temps during benches are way too high for desktop CPUs which have lower tcase and tjunction values. Clevo didn't improve their cooling and we are unable to make a good use of the powerful components. Anyway, back to the fence :)
