by the way , I have a new issue now. The LCD brightness stuck in the highest level since I installed internal 3D emitter and upgraded my bios to 3D model. I changed windows thousand of times and did all the registry tricks but still no chance to turn down the lights :)

Did you talk to prema about that?

    I did find this page:

    https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=77&system=5

I suggest scanning any files you download since it's not an official page.

Thanks, though that's the link I posted before, haha.
I hadn't noticed it said it was an unofficial webpage.
I suppose Qualcomm Atheros don't have an official website, considering only that one shows up when looking for drivers.

I was hoping to be able to find some updates, since my drivers haven't been updated since December last year.

    Thanks
I think I've found the latest drivers for my laptop (released on June 2014, whereas the ones in my laptop date to December 2013).
However, one thing that makes me a bit uneasy is that, according to Windows 7, my drivers are up to date.
    Should I trust Windows?

That's comparing it to its own internal list which is never the most up to date on these things.

It actually goes back quite a bit further than that. When the machine was first "released" it never actually had any units ship due to reliability consistency on the models produced. It was put back to the drawing board and revamped for release at which time there was newer hardware available and when you saw its info release earlier in the year (can't recall if it was February or what). So in short, it may take time before we see a replacement model. Don't get hopes up too high for a new model in a short timespan, these machines take a long time to develop.

yea, it was in feb iirc, late jan and feb was the hype which i remembered. however it dragged on forever before they actually release it, had to redo all those preorder lol. right now imho theres no point for enthusiast to go for laptop with regular 4c/8t desktop CPU simply non soldered cpu lid which will require more work for delidding and voiding warranty. probably just did it for the fact that it's cheaper, better performance than xm/mx series for 1/3 the cost.

sorry for the late answer. yup we already talked about it, it seems there should be a glitch in the bios from Clevo or the drivers from nVidia. I already tried 5 or maybe more different nVidia drivers. So it seems the problem is with bios.
however there is a chance the problem lies with vbios, but it was working before the 3D mod. Really don't know.
I use sunglasses when my eyes can't take it anymore :D

You could see if your reseller has a vbios from a 3d machine or can source the file for you.

I bought my laptop from XoticPC last year. I have 770m SLI, I think they shouldn't have this old version vbios.
Derek, if you have the 3D version vbios, would you please provide me the file? Thanks.

Have you guys got this weird issue in which, after sending your display to a TV (through the HDMI cable) and trying to lower the lid of the laptop (not entirely or a lot, just a bit), the screen ends up black (the adapter appears to be disconnected in the TV, and the display in the laptop is black)?

There are a few times in which, by lowering the lid (after sending the display to the TV, through the HDMI), the laptop just goes to sleep. All you have to do is click and it's running again. However, more often than not I end up with the issue I mentioned before (TV tells me no device has been connected, and the laptop display is black).

I am planning on moving to a new platform myself. As for support so long as the bios can be edited it will have the same driver support as any 980m sli setup.

You could use the quadro as a cad/cuda render support card or for phys-x.

You could game using 3 cores while your render uses the quadro and the other 3 cores. It would be a specific setup for sure but this is just a hold over card for me so it's not an issue.

hi guys, I have a little strange question :) do you know how this hotkey app communicate with backlight controller IC?

the only thing I could find is an IC named IT7040R which has no datasheet available and connected to EC via SPI bus. and there is a PowerBiosServer running in background.
however, the keyboard backlight wont change, until the hotkey app warms up (which sometimes doesn't and backlight remains blue). So all the communication codes should be inside this hotkey and LEDKB.exe .

Our Panther 5 is based on X79 chipset so 5xxx series CPU are not supported. Besides our Panther 5 is positioned as longterm platform so constant updates are not required.

We are planning refresh of Panther series for late 2015

The 9570 did not do so well in America due to demand, other regions may suppy the model longer from Clevo, if they do so that is their decision.

But, is there anyone else doing it with 980 SLI? Wasn't the word that Clevo have totally discontinued production of this system? Yet they're saying they will be refreshing the very same system next year that will be able to incorportate the 5xxx series. A little strange isn't it?

    EDIT: Conversation removed as requested.

Eurocom have confirmed they will continue to support the P570WM/3 with the 980M SLI and are confident it will be updated to support Haswell E next year. Also adding support of 64GB of RAM.

8GB is a hardware limitation on the intel IMC that intel have stated is not fixable through software. It would be impressive if they got around it.

Man, it would be awesome if the P570WM continues to flourish. Even more awesome if it gets upgraded to X99 and 5960X.

I think every Alienware owner that demands something equal or greater than the current 18 and is turned off by the idea of going back to a desktop PC will immediately migrate to Clevo if they do this.

Lord knows that I absolutely will not buy another Alienware laptop unless is has a fully unlocked CPU mounted in a socket and dual GPUs mounted in MXM slots. Low TDP, BGA and single GPU are out of the question... I won't waste a single red cent on a poopy little toy computer like that. It's impossible to have brand loyalty if the brand offers nothing that even remotely interests the customer. Looks like that may be what happens to me. It's very sad, but oh well... wasn't my decision. Que sera, sera.

What if intel made an extreme edition unlocked soldered part?

Agreed. At the present moment it's flourishing via Eurocom who'll be the first ones to update it with 980M SLI. It's no shame to buy a laptop with a 4960 CPU and 980m SLI. :)

I was reading engadget. They (alienware) has "graphics amlifier" external gpu hooks up to their laptops. $299 without a gpu.
