Sup guys? Proud new owner here. I have been following the forums for a little bit and I'm glad to make my first post!

I just got my NP9570 yesterday and so far I'm really diggin' it. I used to be an alienware guy starting from the M17x(several revisions), M18x R1/R2, and the AW18. I really liked the brand and the bling but I hated all the problems with the 18. So I started my search for a new portable gaming laptop and I'm glad I found it here!

Originally I was debating on getting the 9380-s or this and it seems I made the right choice. The build quality is quite good(love the brushed aluminum), keyboard has ZERO flex, cooling is outstanding, always wanted a non-glare/matte screen(something the m18x/18's don't offer), desktop cpu built-in, and factory dual psu's is an available option!

The only thing I didn't like was the sound quality of the laptop. In the alienwares, the quality was decent and the volume can get loud and the "bass" was there, but on this one its a little - meh. Its a bit anemic and it doesn't get too loud. If it had a better sound system then this would've been the perfect laptop for me. But that's something headphones or a small bluetooth speaker can't fix. Still I am very happy with my purchase and would take this little shortcoming than to live with dell/AW cripping the 18 in soooo many different ways.

Also, the 18 nearly maxed out cost me almost $5k. This with the 4930k, 780m sli, bluray burner, killer wireless, dual psu's, 16gb ram only cost around $3500. I'll take that $1500 savings thank you very much!!!

Sorry if this is quite a bit of a long first post but I just wanted to share my experiences with both brands and my initial impressions with this BEAST.

If you take out the keyboard you will be shocked at the weight, the no flex is due to the steel plate bolted on the bottom of the keyboard ^-^.

Thank you 1nstance its nice to be here!

Really? I have been looking at ALOT of youtube videos for this machine while I painfully waited for delivery and I did see there was a piece of metal behind the keyboard. Glad to hear its a quality piece. All the other alienwares I've had always had some keyboard flex. Its nice to finally type on a sturdy keyboard.

BTW, did I just luck out or is everybody's machine the same? I know there is no 3D option for the NP9570 in the US but my screen seems to have the 3D emitter at the bottom? There is a rectangular piece on the bezel of the lcd at the bottom with a circular cutout(I'm guessing thats for the emitter) and the 3D cube is on the left of it.

I tried activating it on the nvidia control panel but I cannot get it to work. Setup will only let me finish if I select the glasses with the red/blue lens and then it says prototype only not for resale.

i am still holding my breath till outdated x79 gets replaced by x99. x79 is a crappy usb 3 performer and I need those quite badly, and it runs too hot for me..

come on clevo, pls do a x99 with this thanks bye

Usb3 speeds depend on the chip used.

x99 will need ddr4 sodimms to be created first.

All machines have the cutout for the 3d emitter. Nothing there though.

Sager machines have the connectors soldered on (straight from clevo don't) so depending on where you got it from you could add it later.

Congrats, you'll like it more each day. However, as you said,
The sound system is the worst. I hooked up an old pair dell speakers and it rocks.

Q56_Monster Yeah, I'm glad I found the Sager/Clevo brand. Before all my options were Alienware, MSI, Asus - never heard of Sager. I almost pulled the trigger on an MSI Dragon with a 4930mx and I'm sooo glad I didn't! But I really wanted dual gpu's because I have a desktop with quad-sli 690 and a 3960x and I want to game on the highest possible settings but I do need the portability. This laptop seems to be everything I need and now I don't have the itch to upgrade anytime soon anymore.

I've seen the scores you put up with this beast and that's quite impressive. I'm wondering is there anything special you're doing? Are you going outside in sub-zero temps benching? Lol

Meaker This one came from sager so as you said the connectors are probably already soldered on. Do you happen to know what kind of connector I need? I already have an Asus 3D monitor and 3D gaming is quite "gimmicky" and makes me see double after a while so its not that important but its something nice to have just in case. :)

You can check if you see a couple of connectors or bare pads nestled next the the current output.

You will still get 3d from your external monitor though.

you can use external 3d emitter, but if you want to install an internal one, the issue is with the cable. I couldn't find any cable for this notebook, so it seems the cable should be hand made.

I already got the internal 3d emitter, as soon as I find a way to connect it to the notebook, I will inform you about the result :)

No one knows where can I get the cable??? :-?

I think the reason Sager doesn't sell the 3D model is because they couldn't find the cable too :D

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you could only put 2 690's in SLI?

2 690s is quad sli. He will have two cards but quad sli is the correct term as that is how they will scale.

Hi, I'm a new guy here. I'm considering buying a Sager/Clevo NP9570 and I'm undecided about which cpu to get; either the 4930k or 4960x which is $450 more. I'm thinking the 4960 might slow the 780m sli down, like bottleneck the cards. I'd like to hear from you guys to get some input. Thanks for listening.

Both should be perfectly fine for the SLI 780's. You'd typically be recommended on the mobile front to upgrade from the 4700 to the 4800, but for this system using desktop CPUs you'll be fine either way as far as gaming is concerned.

Yeah, its only 2 physical cards but since each 690 is basically 2 680's I like to call it quad-sli. :D

As others have mentioned, clock for clock they would perform the same. The 4960X could probably be overclocked higher but in a laptop temps would be a limiting factor so it would not reach its full potential so the 4930K would be a better "bang for your buck". If your on a budget go with the 4930K. But if moneys' not an issue, you have the bragging rights that go with the 4960X.

I've been using cold outside air, but surprisingly, my 780's don't like sub-zero (< 32F). They find their groove about 40F-45F air temps. I can get close to the same scores at room temps. My temps never break 80C at room temp. In the cold they're in the low 70's. I can run my CPU at 4.5ghz at room temp too, but it doesn't do as well, performance wise. Maybe it throttles slightly, I dunno, I never checked the temps on the cpu, lol.

No hard mods, I haven't soldered anything since the GTX580 desktop days. Just grab Prema's and svl7's BIOS's and have fun.

Man, if I was back home and had a P570WM, I'd turn it upside down, remove the heat sink and bench that cpu with my dry ice pot. I benched my M17xR2 with dry ice, and that thing loved sub, zero temps. I have no doubt the 4960 is the same. I'd have to look in to some way to up the cpu voltage. But I bet it could really fly.

All right. So I've had my machine for a little over a week now and its still the best machine I've ever had! Fit and finish, build quality, are all very good and I'm still impressed. Alot of people online have said this notebook is "massive" but I really don't think so. I've had the AW18 for a week(before I returned it and got this) and that is a lot bigger laptop widthwise for obvious reasons. Thickness I think its really close the NP9570 is just a little bit thicker IMO but that is to be expected of whats inside the machine lol.

As far as gaming, I can play the newest games on maxed or mostly maxed out settings which is pretty awesome for a laptop!

the TDP on that 24 cores would be pretty high i'd imagine. if clevo ever come around to do it for haswell E and then broadwell E i'd get a broadwell E for 3.x ghz on 24 threads. some serious computing power.

edit: just a question. I briefly went through service manual for p270wm but I know its quite a bit different than p570wm. how many mini pcie card slots are available in the p570? I only see one for p270 and its used for wifi module.

    Just one and 3 2.5 inch bays (2 gen3 and 1 gen2) .

TDP is 130w for the 12 core as the frequencies are lower.

There is usually no point to having extra slots and it does come with an express card port.

There are other machines if sheer storage space is required.

its just that the haswell 17 inch laptops come with multiple 2.5" + multiple msata. p570wm is like this due to x79 and theres nothing can be done at the moment.

I just got my Sager 9570 yesterday. I flashed Premas modded bios and svl7s modded vbios. While I get great stock scores on 3DVantage and Mark11, when I overclock the 4960 the scores really suck. Maybe I'm not using XTU correctly or maybe the chip is just choking the 780Ms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Probably should have got the 4930K.
