I would suggest trying the Intel drivers.

Ok when I get home from festivities I will try latest one from intel and see what happens. Like robo99999 said I can always roll back driver if new one doesn't work. I've just had bad experience with messing with drivers in past and didn't want to mess up my laptop. Don't know unless I try right.

And you could also do a backup using System Restore, or better yet take a system image using something like Macrium Reflect so you can always restore the whole drive quickly & easily if something gets messed up (you need an external drive bigger than the system drive to do a system image though). -
I keep several system images . Usually once every other week just in case. I use the built in system image program in windows 8.1. Is macruim reflect better or does it accomplish same thing.?
-
Ok so I updated the driver from intel website.
My laptop came with 16.8.0.6.
I updated the Intel wireless ac_7260 driver to
18.30.0.9.
Laptop and Internet still work . Will give it a few days a report back if I think it made a difference or there are any problems using this driver with my np9377.

I've never tried the inbuilt Windows system imaging, so I can't compare, but Macrium Reflect seems very fast to create an image (about 8mins including verification of the image after creation attached to USB 3.0 caddy - UASP 7200rpm - that's just for a small boot partition though of about 20GB of data). -

If anyone could please remind me, the optical bay data connection is sata2 not 3? Also anyone can link me to the proper hdd caddy to replace optical on the 9377? Just want to make sure I get the right one.
Thanks! -
any chance of a desktop 980 working in my laptop? or how about even 2? I can't wait to see what people come up with its a shame the laptop costs so much that not many people even own one :/
-
pathfindercod Notebook Virtuoso
Not the current 980. A possibility if Clevo releases them as the standard size mxm.
-

It's really not required for current 980M owners, they are better off waiting

Hello everyone, hope you all are having a great New Years.
I was wondering those's of you running 980's in SLI what is the latest driver version you are using that actually works well (no stuttering when using external TV with HDMI, that sort of thing)
Thanks -
359 and 359.06 are the only two I've liked since 347.88. Some people have issues with the control panel on 359.06 so I'd recommend 359.00
-
Cool thanks man, I'll check it out, using Eurocom's X8 specific drivers now v350.12 so was looking forward to upgrading, but so many always suck so its hard to find good ones worth upgrading to.
Thanks again Ethrem.TomJGX likes this. -
Using 359.06 here.. They've worked perfectly for me!

I still can't figure out this video skipping on my machine... It is really driving me crazy.

What happens if you tell the gpus to stay clocked up during desktop mode by setting them to high performance? Does disabling sli have an impact? Have you checked DPC latencies?
Ethrem likes this. -
Well DPC Checker is useless on 8.1 but latencymon definitely picked up some problems. Ndis, tcpip and of course nVidias kernel mode driver have the top three spots for highest execution time (with Ndis actually hitting 2.09ms while nVidia is at 0.81ms) meanwhile i8042prt has the highest ISR execution at 1.71ms. That's watching HD Hulu. Chrome has had 25 hard pagefaults in the 7 minutes of monitoring.
Forcing clocks doesn't change anything.
Hmm... Avast just hit 11 hard page faults too and Chrome is up to 29.
Looking at the CPU tab, 7 threads have Ndis as the highest execution time and 1 thread for tcpip... I wonder if it's the Intel WLAN? -
pathfindercod Notebook Virtuoso
Does anyone know of a place to get a proper hdd caddy to replace the optical on the 9377? One that has the tab so you can put a screw in it so it doesn't slide out of the laptop? I'm in the US so if anyone might be able to share a link with one that works well I would greatly appreciate it.
Oh and one I can put the bezel off the DVD drive so it matches. -
You'll probably have to go through a reseller to source parts at this point.
As for my issue, I updated my network drivers for WLAN and ethernet as well as everything else that was outdated in Slim Drivers except for the 980Ms and it seems to have resolved my issue despite worse DPC latency. Go figure.
EDIT: wow. It also fixed my issue with the laptop not going to sleep when it was inactive. I had it set on 30 minutes but it never worked and I didn't feel like fussing with it but sure enough, I was busy doing something and I have Hulu set to not automatically play the next episode and I was doing something on my phone and it went to sleep! I wonder if it will stop waking from sleep on its own now too!Last edited: Jan 8, 2016hmscott likes this. -

Awesome, I bet that feels a better now
-
Yeah I totally forgot about SlimDrivers. Totally free and never fails to find most of the latest drivers (only thing it didn't find was my WLAN which I had to manually grab from Intel.) Thanks for pointing me in the direction of DPC latency, it hadn't occurred to me.
-
It's a nice feeling to *know* everything is updated, and I am happy to hear it finally fixed your problems
I usually use my own eye's, and don't recommend driver finder / installers - in the past they have been a snake pit of malware, but recently I tried IOBit Driver Booster (free version), and was pleased to find it found several driver updates I hadn't seen yet.
I just now tried Slimdrivers, and it didn't find any new drivers.
I have been playing with the IOBit Advanced System Care, after trying IOBit Uninstaller and Driver Booster individually, and so far it's working well.
I guess I can recommend it, I usually I frown on such tools, but times change - the pit of malware is often waiting for those that venture into such waters, but the IOBit stuff came up clean.

I wouldn't have used SlimDrivers but they're a Microsoft certified Gold partner and I run regular malware scans anyway. I heard about SlimDrivers on a malware forum in the first place lol.
I've used IOBit's software before and didn't like it much but that was years ago.
As for my issue being fixed, the video is but the system did not go to sleep so I'll have to go back to using my 3 hour shutdown batch script again. No big deal. I think it's Flash that keeps it from sleeping. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Flash stopping it is interesting, do you have something in particular using it?
-
Hulu but it *should* go inactive after one video because I have auto play turned off.
-
Some things seem to bug the system despite not having any reason to. For example TeamSpeak 3 blocks my screen from timing out properly, or if it times out it'll break the timeout as if I moved my mouse, but my mouse will have it's light off from lack of movement, etc. So don't count Hulu out as blocking your sleep.
-
Well it's Flash so yeah, wouldn't surprise me if that's the issue.
-
Having issues trying to update Nivida drivers. Seems like anything above 359.06 locks up the system during boot. Only way to get back into win10 is to do a restore. I just tried the new 361.75 drivers with the same issue. I'm running Prema Mod Bios and the VBios for the 980m. Anyone have this issue? Could you get the new 361.75 installed? Thanks!
-
Unfortunately the new drivers do not currently work with Prema's mod. You're not missing anything special though, I'm running them and they're not any better than 359 series.
-
@Ethrem what drivers were you using with prema's mod? before testing the newer ones?
-
359 was the first driver I found stable since 347.88 so I was using that one.
-
359.00? I'll be testing those. Thanks broi_pk_pjers_i and Ethrem like this.
-
Yeah 359.00 - 359.06 had random issues with the nVidia control panel and seemed to TDR more.i_pk_pjers_i and joluke like this.

I'd appreciate any advice and help. I have a Clevo P375SM-A laptop with NVIDIA 880m graphic cards.
I've recently purchased a new monitor and decided to connect this via the mini-DP/Thunderbolt on the side of the Laptop, to get a better resolution and refresh rate. I have a mini-DP to DP cable that connects to the monitor (Rankie cable)
The monitor works fine under HDMI and also under DP with another PC.
However when I connect my laptop to the monitor the Laptop display goes blank and nothing appears on the monitor. The PC still works and responds to keyboard input but the mouse is not visible and I can't make anything display.
I know the PC still works as if I disconnect the DP cable and reconnect the HDMI everything appears again and my keyboard responses are visible on screen.
I have checked for any updated drivers via IObit they are now all are up to date
I have the latest NVIDIA graphics driver - 361.75 - clean install.
I have the latest BIOS from this forum - EC v1.03.09 & BIOS v1.03.11. I've just updated to this.
Any suggestions on getting the display port to work with my monitor? -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Hi, all I can say is that the DP port on these machines is flaky. I've seen others having this sort of problem. I went through two Azus G-sync monitors and two cables with the same results. The display blacks out and no signal on the monitor. Worked just fine on my AW and the HDMI out is fine
.
EDIT: Just remembered, I can use a DP to HDMI converter and that works, just not native DVI over DP... -
Unfortunately the HDMI output is only 24 FPS as it's a 4K monitor (Asus as well). I'd want to get to DP to get the 60 FPS, don't think that would work through a DP to HDMI converter?
Anyone else have any other ideas!? -
MickyD1234 Notebook Prophet
Yeah I couldn't get above 24hz - useless, maybe someone has got it to work? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It comes down to it going through the thunderbolt controller and what it is able to drive displayport wise.
-
I have yet to see someone have a working 4K monitor over Thunderbolt on this machine. I don't believe it can be done.

Hi guys, I ave an LCD problem, I installed EVGA precision 16 last night, when I woke up the ext morning forgot to shut it down.. moved my mouse a lil bit and the lcd is still working. When I restarted, nothing came out of the LCD even the OEM logo, F7 f2 option etc, nothing came out. Hooked via external displays the GPU worked fine, there was output, yet nothing for the LCD laptop screen. Shined a flashlight but no trace of output in the panel. DId a restore prior the EVGA installation but to no avail. Never closed the lid maybe like 2-3 times since delivery. Unit just came last January. Please help. Thanks.

Looks like you have run into the issue where EVGA precision is writing to the LCD firmware and corrupting it:

EVGA really needs to fix that software.

And people have been going nuts that it's Win 10's fault! Not just happening to Win 10 folks then. Yeah, after what I've seen I wouldn't use EVGA Precision, may as well use NVidia Inspector which gives you the added bonus of modifying driver profiles per game as well.i_pk_pjers_i and Ethrem like this. -
I can't stand Inspector personally. The profile editing is great and all but the interface is a pain and saved OC profiles don't always work as they should but it beats having my LCD messed up.DreDre and i_pk_pjers_i like this.

Try Asus GPU tweak... It's much easier to use and you can change voltages too..i_pk_pjers_i, joluke, Ethrem and 1 other person like this.

I may just have to do that. I've been meaning to anyway so thanks for the reminder.

As the software hooks further into firmware it was going to be a risk, but it has been outstanding for a while. -
i_pk_pjers_i Even the ppl who never frown eventually break down
I'd say look into MSI afterburner, I believe it's the most popular GPU program, and I always use it to create custom fan profiles on my desktop GPUs. Not sure how good it is on laptops, though. I used it maybe once or twice on my laptops before deciding I don't really need a GPU program for my laptops.Ethrem likes this. -
MSI's support is barebones, doesn't even offer voltage control and personally the interface is a disaster.
