Yes they never really wanted it used on the mobile platform so it does not offer much extra there. I like using its graphs though for monitoring.

Hello all, been a while since I posted on here, but figured I would share some info for those who are interested. A while back, I posted a picture of a zalman notebook cooler I modified to use 4 120mm fans. Anyways, I was considering upgrading to dual 980's sli for the longest time, but now, especially with this cooler, I am able to run max settings on Witcher 3, the new Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rainbow Six Siege, etc. (and I have dual 880's). Witcher 3 for some reason seems to be the most taxing of all the games I play, and is the only game I might add that seems to even get the cpu or gpus to overheat. That being said, I am not overclocking (I am not using XTU anymore), but check out the temp differences I recorded using HWIN64. This is from playing Witcher 3 on max settings for 2-3 hours straight, with stock notebook fans, and with custom cooler underneath. The difference is quite significant....more than 10 celsius....

Hi tom, what are the chances it could affect the lcd hardware like what EVGA did? I've been wanting to try it but just for fan speed control and no OC ..as of yet.

my 980m sometimes will have a tough time getting the display to become active or crash after being in sleep mode while connected to my monitor via mini display port. Also i am noticing red artifacts on some videos. any ideas?

I hope my card isn't dying.

Not being able to wake from sleep can be caused by a few different drivers, taking a back up and trying a fresh install can help identify if this is the case. For the artifacts, have you tried running a mini 3d render window somewhere to see if it just happens in 2d videos? I assume your drivers are up to date?

That's sometimes attributed to failing vRAM. As for your sleep issue, that could be software-related, but that you have said artifacts makes me wonder whether it's the card or something minor. Do you have the same issue with sleep and the screen with the built-in screen (no external)?

I need your wisdom! :D this is a cracker..

Specs: p370sm-a, 4810mq, 16gb ram, 980m sli, Premas excellent bios mods (system and gpus). I haven't OCd the 980ms.
I have been trying to stop my cpu clock speed from dropping during gaming. I don't need to overclock but the most stable configuration I found was all cores at x38. It behaved badly on stock core ratios and couldn't stop it from power throttling. Max temp is 83C, so no temp throttle.

This truly baffles my mind. I switched to static 1.055 vcore because the voltage dropped under 0,8V during e.g downloads while the computer just sat there causing a crash.

Before static vcore it current limit throttlet (is this english? :p), after changing to static it power throttlet. Then I found the sweet spot with decreasing vcore and raising current limit and it passes XTU bench (824marks) and stress test without throttling and the clock speed stays at 3800mhz.

    But..
When I fire up Firestrike the cpu clock speed fluctuates and stays on about average 3600mhz and drops even to 3300mhz couple of times during the bench. And XTU doesn't show any kind of throttling during these drops.

Could it be that the gpus draw so much juice that the cpu clock speed drops? Do I need a second power adapter to run this machine stockish?

Or is there some kind of power setting I need to disable that fluctuates the clock speed? Eg. Speedstep, C-states or smthing..

    Thanks all!

Yes. And checked the power plan settings as well. I tried to run throttlestop too with xtu but that didn't help either.. and now benchmark at xtu current throttles even with the same settings that it didn't before! Magic! :D

Does anyone know if the VR systems coming out will work with this laptop (980m SLI). I would really like to beable to play some games and experience VR it is something I have looked forward to since being a kid. IF it will work is there anything I should do to prepare to use VR, I love my laptop it truely is a beast but I know compatibility with SLI is kind of all over the place. I have watched a bunch of videos on youtube of people using VR with computer games and it looks awesome and I really hope to beable to experience that (I mean I did pay an arm and a leg for this laptop so that I would beable to be more future proof) Anyways any info would be nice thanks! God Bless!

    Hi,

I am trying to get the service manual for the clevo P377SM-A so that I can perform a screen replacement... It's my first time conducting this sort of operation... SAGER isn't sharing any servicing info with me, and I can't afford to ship it out...

Can't seem to access a service manual anywhere... I'm not sure whether the screen pops out, or if there are screws hidden under the rubber feet of the bedzel or what...

I use this SAGER for music production and performance, and I have a gig I need to get to today. I could use help ASAP.... Thanks so much.

Hi Ethrem, have you tried the 364 drivers? Are you still using 359 (I still am myself) and was wondering if upgrading is a good idea?

    Hello everyone,

I believe if memory serves correctly that the chipset for the sager np9377-s is an HM87....I was wondering if the motherboard would support an i7-6700K....cant really seem to find an answer after looking on sagers site and the Intel site.

Its an HM87 and the strongest chips it supports are the 4930MX and the 4940MX. Even if it did support Skylake, the cooling is too terrible to support a 6700K, it would overheat and throttle at stock.

Yeah, the 48xx models are a decent step up from the 47xx and not too much more, as where the 49xx processors are a big jump in price.

Guys, I noticed that we have more than 2800 messages in this thread and not a single mention to this computer causing BSoDs due to the SynTP.sys case. Is it really my machine that is having problems with this driver? No one else had that? There is another thread in this notebookreview for people trying to solve this problem.

    I already tried:
    Windows 7, with drivers from both Clevo or Sager;
    Windows 10, with drivers from both Clevo or Sager;
    Different version of the drivers from hardware manufacturers;
Happens no only on games (last time happened when I was editing my resume on word).

Same issue: SynTP.sys BSOD in both OSs. If I remove it, it goes to hkkbdfitr.sys.

    Anyone had this problem?

I am running a Vizio M50-C1 @ 4k @ 60Hz, using this DP-to-HDMI adapter http://smile.amazon.com/aLLreLi-4Kx2K-Displayport-Female-Adapter/dp/B00ZC8MLY8 and this HDMI 2.0 cable http://smile.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-6ft-Connectors-PlayStation/dp/B00NQ9OQU2. I only bought that DP/HDMI adapter because the Club3D one was sold out at the time, and reviews claimed that the aLLreLi delivered HDMI 2.0 even though it wasn't labeled as such.

I had to use 4:2:0 chroma / 8-bit color. The Vizio doesn't support higher than 4k/60Hz/4:2:0 anyway, so I am okay with that.

    Witcher 1 scales surprisingly nicely @ 4k.
Witcher 2 runs like a dog @ 4k. I had to kick it down to 1080p to get 60 FPS at all times.
Witcher 3 on my 1440p ASUS ran about as well as Witcher 2 runs on this 4k TV, so I am thinking I'll get... 15 FPS with Witcher 3 @ 4k.

Most games have an issue if I
    - use SLI
    - turn on VSYNC
    - run the game in 4k

These problematic games exhibit "flickering", like there's a black frame in between every normal frame. Going to 1080p, disabling SLI, or turning off VSYNC gets rid of the issue.

Tabletop Simulator doesn't have any issues, other than being incredibly inefficient.
Borderlands 2 needed VSYNC turned off iirc.
Most games I just run in 1080p to get the extra performance as well as avoid flickering.

I am using the 364.96 drivers, after sticking with 359.06 for the last six months. Any time I tried to install any driver newer than 359, I got a blue-screen regarding nvkmm.dll (or something like that) and had to roll back. I upgraded to the latest Prema VBIOS (a new version came out a few months ago), but no dice. I deleted every nvidia driver on the system, then tried to reinstall "fresh"; no dice. I had to use this "Display Driver Uninstaller" http://www.wagnardmobile.com/?q=display-driver-uninstaller-ddu- to nuke the site from orbit, and finally got things sorted.

To be clear, the 4k stuff also worked on 359.06.

Not sure if it's the VBIOS or the newer drivers, but my 3Dmark scores went up noticeably after getting the drivers sorted, and upgrading the VBIOS along the way.

Download it, grab Rufus ( http://rufus.akeo.ie), plug in a USB stick and format it with FreeDOS set to install (MBR mode for BIOS or UEFI boot option, not GPT), extract the archive to the USB stick, disable EFI in BIOS, boot from USB stick, type update.bat and follow the prompts (just press Y when it says to) - when the machine goes off, immediately unplug the power for 30 seconds then plug it back in and turn it back on. It will take longer to boot than normal but when it boots, change your BIOS settings back and you're done. Just know that your warranty is void after you do this and if you flash the BIOS and brick the system, a new motherboard could cost you around 400 bucks. Watch the video on Prema's site and it will show you the whole process.

Hello, I was browsing the site and found this:
Windows 10 + NVIDIA WHQL Drivers are Killing Alienware and Clevo LCD Panels
    Info here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...illing-alienware-and-clevo-lcd-panels.779449/

I don't know if this has been solved or posted here in this thread or not, but figured just in case.... Thankfully I still and have always used win 7 pro x64

Anyway it affects this machine so.... should probably read it if it hasn't been brought up here yet. I know it freaked me the hell out :(

I apologize if this is old news or a repost from somebody, I just learned of it today. The only thing I can think to say about this is WTF!!

Was this not related to precision-X in the end over writing the firmware of the panel?

Don't know, I literally just saw it and posted it. I hope it's been solved cause that is seriously screwed up and would hate to see people bricking their screens.

Edit: I don't use Windows 10 so I just read Mr Fox's post to see what the problem was. Allot of pages in that thread so hopefully its been solved?

Precision-X is not safe still as far as I know.

It was confirmed to be a Precision X issue indeed (that affects any version of Windows) and its currently unknown if it is safe or not but considering that there have been new cases, I would lean more towards not.

Shows it's not always the obvious answer with software!

That's why I often ask for more information to get a wider picture on a problem.

Neither EVGA or nVidia will claim responsibility for it obviously so I've just been staying away. Technically that tool was only ever meant for EVGA products anyway. Besides, the way they stole RTSS code and such in past versions makes me stay away anyway. Inspector is still the most reliable way to OC a mobile GPU.

    Hey Ethrem,

Do you use that duel power supply setup?

I only use one and have external portable HDD (2TB), G710+ keyboard (Back-lighted), G502 Mouse, 360 controller, cooling pad (3 fans), external wifi amplifier, and external Blu-ray/DVD player/ripper.

Not sure this matters, but connected to 52" TV via HDMI.

    And that's on top of all the stuff in my siggy (ie 3 x 2TB HDD's, 2 x 1TB SSD's, duel 980 SLI )

I haven't experienced any power issues, but now I want to add another external 4TB portable drive... I'm getting a bit curious/worried..

How can I tell or know when I should upgrade to duel power supplies?

Dual power supplies are only needed for extreme benchmarking. I don't use mine since it's not needed. I'm not an extreme benchmarker. I was when I first got the machine but even then, I only managed to overload the single PSU one time.

That's all? They don't give you more power to use for your system?

Edit: Also, do you still have your CPU OC'ed?

A single brick can draw over 400W from the wall before it overloads. Under a full 3DMark11 load, my machine fluctuates around 340W when the CPU is overclocked. Normal gaming it's around 300-330W. I really wouldn't worry about it.
