I dont know of any notebooks that support that. Looks like you have RAID set up on your notebook now.
You can check to see if TRIM is enabled. Start cmd.exe type in fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
= 0 means its Enabled
= 1 means its Disabled
Let us know if yours is Enabled because that would be awesome!

Brilliant. Sounds like u r happy with the 7970m , any problems I should watch for ?
Temps seemed high so ordered decent cooling stand .
Don't think it comes up drivers installed but if it does , will uninstall and then use cc cleaner and sweeper. -

1. Run the CCC driver installer and DO NOT install. Uninstall first, and select all the available options for removal.
2. Reboot into safe mode(F8) and run Driver Sweeper (google it). Analyze and clean ALL ATI related drivers and entries.
3.Reboot, and now you can install your drivers, just use express and let it do it's thing.
4. In CCC, go into Powerplay and keep it enabled, but select "Maximize Performance" under the plugged in and on battery profile.
I found I had downclocking or under-utilization of the second card if it was any other way. This is a DTR, battery life should be the last concern.

Guys... just because the OS thinks TRIM is enabled, doesn't mean the RAID commands handled by the Intel RAID controller knows to pass along TRIM to the SSDs.
I brought this up to narsnail in a different thread. From all the public info provided by intel, they plainly state that desktop boards and their corresponding chipsets only support RAID. There is no mention of any mobile chipset or laptop based mobo which supports TRIM over RAID. So while it is possible that it is working, as we cannot see what the chipset is doing with the drives, I'm waiting for confirmation by intel for verification that it is working. -
Either my GC is working through Samsung, or TRIM is working. It's not like there a huge crowd of mobile RAID-0 ssd users around to compare with either. I expect official mobile support will be added soon, but like I said small user base so no need for them to rush it right?
My bad if you posted that already, didn't read.
Some BF3 temps with and with the cooler also.
Without cooler, max XTU OC, 64 man conquest server, maxed settings.
CPU High-85c GPU1 High-79c GPU2 High-90c
With cooler, same variables.
CPU High-79c GPU1 High-68c GPU2 High-74c
Amazing drop, will probably attempt over-clocking them soon once I can get these clocks unlocked. -
Hmm, I will have to keep this in mind. I heard about all of this and I should've probably just got a single 256gb and an Msata for OS or something like that.

@extide,
While I believe this is most likely the case, I'd prefer a white paper or confirmation from intel that this is the case. For example, intel *has* stated the desktop H77 chipset will support TRIM over RAID-0, but has not said the HM77 will. They could save a lot of time by officially confirming if that is or is not the case for the mobile chipsets. -

Congrats on the order birddog! That is a great build, and congrats on your first post

So, while I personally cannot test it, narsnail can. I'd be interested to know if he can do some research, and what those results may be. -
TimeLord, temps were recorded with a notebook cooler.
I don't know if I can do the tests right now, I need my laptop for school and while it certainly wouldn't take long to format/reinstall, I don't know if I can find the time right now. We will see
Has anyone had any luck OCing? I can get to 975 core/1300 memory so far but I dont think I can go too much further without some voltage control. Either that or im running out of power, not sure. -
I'm about ready to order my single GPU P370EM from mysn.de, but the one thing stopping me is finding no resource online regarding upgrading to a second 680M card in a year or so.
If someone could help me find:
Where to get the actual SLI cable for this laptop from
Where to get the proper heatsink & fan for this laptop from
Then I will be able to buy the laptop knowing where to source the upgrade materials in the near future.
Anyone think they can help? I've found nothing through Google searches for clevo sli cable and p370em sli cable -
dkl_uk
ask your reseller when you'd like to upgrade to a 2nd GPU. They should provide you with the complete upgrade kit for your system. -
How do you overclock the 7970m in CF in P370EM ?
-
-
Hi dkl_uk,
why don't you order directly through mySN.co.uk? You can later get your notebook upgraded directly in our UK offices! -
-
Ah i just wondered if you could just do it the same as with a single card? when i unlock MSi the clocks appear at 0 and didnt want to adjust the sliders if i was going to do any damage
-
Thanks for your response, you've just made 2000 Euros. -
TRIM does work on HM77 it is essentially the desktop chipset due to same ME controller.
-
Any news or resources regarding 7970m CF in the P370em
Im about to get the laptop, and i am inclining heavily towards 7970mCF since a single AMD card is 200EURO+19% TVA while an Nvidia card would cost me 580EURO+TVA
A ton of money difference, and i really do not think the difference is justifiable.
What do you guys say ?
Are there advantages disadvantages, like temperature, power consumption, performance, multi GPU scalling, drivers?
1)Temperature: I read somewhere nvidia cards run cooler
2)Power consumption: Heard the nvidia cards use less power, even if it has 4gb ddr5
3)Performance: Heard they should be toe on toe
4)Multi GPU scalling: Heard the scalling should be better with SLI, but in the desktop world the scalling is equaly good, and im thinking with the new drivers 12.9 or even 13 forward, things will only get better.
5)Drivers: Supposedly the Nvidia drivers are better, and not only better, but most importantly, working.
After all calculation, nvidia solution is 904 EUROs more. A TON of money. A bitter pill to swallow.

So who here actually has their NP9370/370EM in their hands, that they ordered??
I'm waiting anxiously for mine. Not too sure what the availability looks like though. -
Nobody interested in my NP9370? Save $400-$500 off new.
-
and importing it would destroy my bank account lol
-
Just got my tracking number this morning. UPS says next thursday delivery! AHHhhhhhhhh the wait!
Another thing.. They just had to wait until my laptop ships to announce new cpu's for the same price. Like I know the difference between a 3610qm and 3630qm is practically nothing but it would be nice to not have missed that difference by a matter of days.
Who knows, maybe I might find a 3920xm for slightly cheaper now there is a 3940xm. -

, that just adds more to the waiting pains.

Just received my laptop:
-
Thanks to the helpful person at mysn.co.uk, this is my laptop:
1 x 17.3" (43.9cm) Full-HD 1920x1080 Matte
1 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M 4096MB GDDR5 | TDP: 100W
1 x Intel Core i7-3820QM Quad Core - 2.70 - 3.70GHz 8MB 45W "Ivy Bridge"
1 x 8GB (2x4096) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1600MHz CORSAIR Vengeance
NO HDD - Using my own 160GB SATA's in RAID0.
1 x Blu-ray Combo (Blu-ray reader / DVD RW)
1 x Killer Wireless-N 1202 (with Bluetooth)
1 x Backlit Keyboard UK
Option to upgrade to SLI 680M when I need to plus a new CPU whenever I find it necessary.
Between this and the box.co.uk CF 7970M I thought long and hard and decided the Nvidia support, Physx and perceived reliability factors made this the better choice. Unfortunately box.co.uk don't offer options to have single GPU P370EM's so mysn.co.uk got my money. -
Ordered mine from xoticpc around a week back. Can't wait to get it
Display: 17.3" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Glossy Screen (1920x1080)

Graphics Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 680M 4,096MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11
Ram: 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)

OMG, so excited -
Received today with 3920XM and 7970M CF.

At my price point I am currently torn between the NP9170 and the NP9370.
The $100.00 price difference for the NP370 can be justified solely by the better mic placement for my use.
I saw that you use to have a NP9150 which would be similar to the NP9170.
I am planning on getting a single 7970m and wondering how much the power consumption will increase by entirely disabling switchable graphics in choosing the NP9370. I do understand that the Nvidia cards are more efficient in either system, and perhaps you might have noticed a clear battery life decrease if you tested it with single GPU.
I really appreciate the review you have done as it is one of the best sources at the moment for information on these systems. -
I only reviewed the NP9370, I personally own the NP9150 and love it. Although after using the 17" screen I kinda wish I had gone with the NP9170. Oh well, next time, next time.

XM really isn't necessary unless you really have a need for uber CPU power. For general use, gaming, even audio/video encoding 3610/30QM is fine.
-
I have inside a ES CPU (engineering sample) Are there any disadvantages or any issues with it ?
By the way, i did a clean install of catalist 12.9 beta desktop drivers and it worked , and also the new menu works. 37200 pGPU Score in Vantage. -
I really have doubts about it can you give me your thoughts on it. Cause $600 is a great price for the 3920. -
Thank you everyone who posted in this thread, and those who detailed the specifics of their purchases and especially to HTWingNut for his review.
I have Put in my order for a Sager NP9370 with a single 7970m.
Finding out that the Master GPU was not joined with the CPU is what finally convinced me to purchase the 370 over the 170. That and the microphone placement on the screen and hopefully some form of improved audio. Though I may be disappointed when I plug in my AKG K271 MK II studio headphones in lol. I just Could not justify the $369.00 price boost for going with a similar Alienware. (granted that Sager has a $100.00 savings right now, and you don't have to purchase an operating system with the Laptop) and I am happy to have the 1920x1080 Glossy screen as standard on this model. I could not tolerate the matte screens in the latest MSI and Asus models. My eyes are to sensitive and I see a strange effect in those panels which I'm not use to.
Now I'll be researching how to construct an external Battery supply out of Lipo batteries to help supplement this behemoth of power consumption.
I am sad to have to move from my 18" Sony AW which had an amazing keyboard seperated key pad and very slim looks for a loptop of it's size. Though I believe I'll still have better battery life with the 370 since It has much newer hardware. I get emotionally attached to pieces of hardware that have treated me well but I will be happy to play almost any game at Max graphics and also run all of My Adobe and CAD programs with ease.
I'm planning on adding my own heatsinks inside the system and will try to quantify if it makes a difference -
Can't wait. -
INTEL i7 3920XM 2.9GHZ(turbo 3.8Ghz) QS FASTEST MOBILE CPU FREE UPS/DHL SERVICE | eBay
Here is the item I am considering. They will accept $600 for this QS/ES 3920xm and they guarantee the functionality and warranty for replacement.
Is this a bad idea? -
If they guarantee it works and also offer replacement why not
