I bought an external USB card to replace the onboard audio. I bought a Xonar U3 for when I'm gaming(as it supports Dolby Headphone etc.), but for watching movies/blu-rays and normal everyday stereo use I bought a Fiio E17 which sounds fantastic.

i am planning to purchase a new laptop with holds 2HDDs at once along with mSATA slot... i was thinking of getting the standard 750gb 7200rpm drive right now ...and upgrade stuff later
can i set up mSATA for SRT cache with 750gb mechanical drive with another 128gb SSD as a boot drive ...aybe with TRIM support if that's not too much to ask..?
    can i do that ?
and how...can some tell me the procedure ?

and what's with the RAID MODE AND AHCI MODE?
do i get to choose independent modes for different drives in BIOS?..like RAID FOR MSATA AND AHCI FOR SSD ?

You need raid mode for the caching and it's a controller setting so it applies to every drive.

Have you thought about just using the mSATA as the primary drive?

If you have a SSD already as your boot drive you dont want to add a mSATA for cache. The mSATA SATA port is slower then the SSD so you would essentially be making your computer slower. Just keep it with the SSD as it is. It sounds like you want to add the mSATA to cache your HDD but that wouldnt work unless your OS is installed on the HDD, which i assume its on the SSD.

I could see that happening when you first set it up but does it do that everytime after you've set up the RAID?

    Greetings all!

Just got my Sager 9370 which I purchased after considerable research including reading the users manual which SPECIFICALLY lists TPM 1.2 support. Decided to get Win& ult because I need some reliable security. Upon initial setup, I find NO availability of TPM chip setup / activation and confirm with no device manager TPM chip and Bitlocker will not enable due to lack of TPM.

I called Sager Tech support and was told that "none of the Sager models have TPM"!!! Can anybody confirm this? It seems just to blatently false for a company w/ Sager's reputation to publish specs which clearly state that TPM is part of this machine when it is not. Given that the only "real" difference in the Win & pro vs ultimate IS bitlocker, why would they even offer this as a (pricey) option? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any info-

    BS

As far as I can tell:

    Sager NP8150/Clevo P150HM - May not have TPM ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...evo-p150hm-owners-lounge-345.html#post7746989)

    Sager NP9370/Clevo P370EM - May have it - http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ager-np9370-owners-lounge-43.html#post8958898

You can contact Sequencer1 or take a look at the post step #14 as it mentions a necessary driver (TPM.zip)

Sorry to hear of your trouble, in the manual that you were reading that in was it a Clevo manual or a Sager manual. I honestly haven't read either manual in depth and can't recall specifically reading that in the Sager, but I know I've been telling my customers that it doesn't support it. I could see a Clevo manual possibly stating something different though if it was a manufacturer setting they can enable/disable at the factory.

Thanks for the info- I am looking not only at the quickstart manual that came w/ the computer but also at the online version in the (updated) driver section of Sager's website. The TPM drivers are on the included (Sager) disks and I saw that post from november talking about the TPM which appeared to be present in the BIOS - Looks like Sequencer1's is a Clevo.. In the quickstart manual as well as the full manual there is no reference to a model that DOESN'T have TPM and in fact the TPM is listed in the specifications in the same section as the fingerprint reader, BIOS password, and kensington slot.

So, does anyone know whether the TPM is present and can be activated if, as it would seem, this is the same as the Clevo P370M. As an aside, does anyone know if the 9730 will run virtual operating systems, since I also did not find a BIOS option to enable virtualization as there usually is. Even though they have a windows 8 model, I find myself wondering about the data execution preventuion "featyre" required by Win 8. Any of you have win 8 that you upgraded from a Win 7 machine?

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    BS

Since you have a SSD in there anyway there really isnt a noticeable difference with a RAID set up anyway.

    Hey Mythologic,
is "yours" a Sager / Clevo? I looked briefly at your site but didn't see the "obvious"- (just took a quick look,)

To Sager's credit, they have agreed to a return if I can't work around this issue, so I may be able to look at another machine with the "same" specs.

Hey everyone, after months of research I've finally decided to go with this beast of a machine. Ordered from Xotic on Sunday and got the "Phase 2" email today. I'm so excited and now the dreadful wait begins. I have a question for you guys though. I'm having Xotic install Windows 7 and Microsoft Office and everything but will I have to do any other installing or updating when I get it or will it be good to go right out of the box? I've read many posts about people going to nvidia's website to update drives and what not so I'm just curious. This is the build I went with by the way

    Guys.. am i an idiot?

I can't get the 7970M to overclock without video glitching.

Tried Afterburner Unofficialoverclockingmode = 1 and 2, also tried disabling ULPS in the registry. I'm on 13.1.

    Any ideas?

    say something about the mSATA,
mSATA SATA connector is 3GBs, even though this configuration is very fast and much faster than a normal disk,
I used to configure the mSATA Crucial M4 + Crucial M4 SATA 6GBs, the entire system is installed on the mSATA, system boot time from the time of pressing the power button to the desktop to 15s, in normal use will not feel the difference between SATA II and SATA III , for temporary work can be use the RAM disk if necessary.
Crucial is true that there is a speed demon, in my experience are very stable SSD RAID0 can also do as there are two SATAIII slots free.

I'd prefer the new M500 drives or the intel 525 myself, OS loads tend to be lots of small files anyway which means you are limited by the controller rather than the bus speed typically.

However getting one larger SSD over a smaller one + mSATA makes more sense.

Hey All, Well i'm about to take that step and move to the Clevo P370em for the replacement of my desktop. Hopefully this awesome webpage can help me with a couple question. Keep in mind that I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to pc, so doing my own installs and what not will not be a problem.

Current Planned Clevo build- Pretty much stock as Xoticpc offer it.
    -I7 3630qm
    -8gb ram
    -Crossfire 7970m
    -750 HD

    1. My current machine is a AMD 955 with 4890 graphics card and 8gb mem, While completely dated and old, It still has the power to play the new games (not all on ultra settings) at frame rates between 45-60 fps. This machine has lasted me 4 years (its still working just need to downsize my in my new place), Can I expect the clevo to give me the at least the same 4 years of gaming that my desktop has before the graphics cards start to struggle with newer games?

    2. Are the temps really a problem on the machine as a lot of people have seemed to address ? I do plan to repaste and use a cooling stand, is this something I should be worried about?

    3. Why do people claim to go with the 680 rather then the 7970m? Is this more personal choice, or is there something between the 2 that i'm missing?

    4. How easy is it to track down upgrades for the laptop? I see that Xotic offers a 120Hz "MatteType" 72%, is this something that I can later down the road purchase and install myself?

    5. How up-gradable are the graphics cards, Say the 8000 series amd or the 700 series nvidia comes out, how likely am I to get my hands on these cards and install them into the laptop?

Thanks in Advance for anyone that can help answer some of these questions, This is my first gaming laptop that I am buying, wont be able to buy another for awhile (damn wife!! :) ), so I want to get everything laid out.

Wow I just got the "Phase 4 Order Shipped" email today and it was last Wednesday that I got the "Phase 2" email. I wasn't expecting it to be that quick at all. I hope it wasn't a rush job and everything works out. Should be here next Monday

Nobody really likes to skip the QA and testing process so it's likely Sager is just at the point where they're able to get their usual fast build times of typically 5-10 business days, sometimes even faster.

Skipping the QA is like shooting yourself in the foot, returns are relatively expensive to handle.

Exactly, and from the phase style update that was quoted, pretty sure its one of our orders :)

I know we won't skip that stuff.

Yeah I got it from Xotic and don't get me wrong, it's a pleasant surprise that it's already done and being shipped. It's just that after reading through the entire 140 page owner's lounge and everybody who ordered had to wait two weeks at least, I was expecting the same. When I saw that email before it was like I was shocked and excitied but then wondering how could it be done already you know.

Well you may have ordered and hit the sweet spot where it instantly gets built and starts getting tested.

So just a little reminder for everyone... CLEAN YOUR FANS!

I was having issues with my fans maxing out far too regularly (and basically weren't turning off) and came to find out that my GPU was hitting 93C during my gaming sessions. All the max speed of the fan was doing was getting it down to 90-91C. So of course I decided to "clean my fans" by spraying them out with compressed air (you know... the lazy way everyone does it) and noticed that all it basically did was make it so it took longer for my GPU to hit 93C.

So I do some deep digging and decide to actually take the fan off the board to clean it and, low and behold, a wad of dust had gathered in the corner of where the fan meets the vents and was blocking off about 20% of the vent. So I clean it the way I should have in the first place and, viola, I havn't heard my fans max out since.

Long story short, yeah, we're all smart enough around here to clean our fans, but don't be lazy about it. Pop that sucker off and do some deep digging lol.

Just to put some emphasis on how important this is, I checked my temps while running Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite. Two of my more demanding games. Mind you, I play with everything maxed out.

    84C playing Crysis 3.
    80C playing BioShock Infinite.

Fans NEVER go full blast playing BioShock Infinite.
Fans only occasionally go full blast playing Crysis 3.
