I agree with Sequencer, there's no use for 32GB of RAM when gaming at all, 8GB at MAX, 16 just to keep it cool.
A matte would do good, and a mSATA is only for use if you ABSOLUTELY need more space, but it'll be slower than a 512GB Samsung 840 PRO indeed.
-
when talking about the memory, in this field basically the more the better, some actually suggest a minimum of 24G's.
I never actually thought about BR drive,, I think I will snap it.
I will be using the HDD generally for my files and mini projects, plus every major project will go through it until it ends up in its own hard drive. so basically when dealing with a 4K definition movie, caching will improve the times even a little, thus the mSATA.
Regarding the OS, why wont you recommend it? is it because its different? because im very comfortable with change and I don't get that feeling in the stomach when doing so. is it drivers ?? is it the whole feel of it? I will sure go to Win7 Pro if Win8 is not going to cut it.
Since I will be on the move most of the time, I need that extra gamut for working when im not at home. and glare doesn't bother me, I can always avoid it in a way or another. while at home, I have a reference monitor i work on.
And yea, Last thing, HDD for personal files seems a much better investment than SSD's,, at least to me that is. -
-
You can get a Panasonic UJ240 or UJ260 Blu-ray Burner for between $60-$90. It may help if a client wants your video on a disc.
Re: OS. I won't use Win8 as my primary OS just yet since many of my digital audio/soft-synth apps perform poorly on it, or don't work at all. All apps have worked flawlessly on Win7 for the past 2 years. Digital audio is just my hobby/part-time job.
I too am comfortable with change, my day job is as a System Administrator managing Windows, Linux, & Unix servers, desktops, & laptops, and my current task is implementing several brand new software service solutions in my customer's environment and I am responsible for the dev space and ironing out the technical issues prior to the move to production. So the ability to adapt to constant changes is required for my job. My Clevo is my pre-dev sandbox, running multiple VMs in a virtual infrastructure all networked to test new software tools. I haven't done any real gaming on it yet. Too busy.
You may want to check to see if you video-editing apps have any issues in Win8.
Have fun! -
My major concern is the drivers, the machine can be operated with few software but with broken drivers here and there ,, I feel its useless. Will contact my reseller and see what they suggest.
Best of luck, Hazza3 -
Greetings , i did my first order of a clevo laptop sometime around 2010 when i got the sager np 7280 ( x7200) , it arrived with a mobo fault and had to return it back for repairs , but since then i been using

just hoping ill have a trouble free machine this time... how are the 7970m crossfire working out ? any enduro issues still or it has been fixed ?
i mainly play world of warcraft and perhaps gta5 when its released and some other fps games... how good it the 90% ntsc glossy led display ?
any real noticeable difference while gaming ? will the cpu bottleneck with the 2 gpu's ?
would appreciate ur thoughts and advices ,
cheers and happy new year ! -
For gaming the CPU will not bottleneck.
There's NO enduro when working with XFire or just the P370EM due to it being disabled, so you are problem freegood setup
Awesome screen, really bright you'll see the difference and notice how worthy it is!
If I were you I would go with the 3740QM just for the sake of slightly more power and the ability to OC 400MHz more.
Good luck and a happy new year to you too -
Thanks for the quick reply,i wish i could get a better cpu but am kinda out of budget as it was either a screen upgrade or cpu
and i choose the screen , hope its worth it... dont u think the 3630qm is enough for modern / incoming games of 2013 ?
u kinda scared me now as i dnt want 2 get to a point that ill need 2 buy / upgrade my machine b4 the end of next year.
there is another thing i 4got to mention and i would really appreciate a feedback of some1 using this machine's rubberized palmrest as i read it stains a lot and wears
out fast ! what about the keyboard ? does the labels wear out fast ? can any1 with a couple months sager machine post a photo or comment on such claims?
my regards. -

Basically the only changes made from the default configuration is the Bigfoot Wifi, matte screen, and single AMD7970m. Got it around a week or do ago, and so far it is amazing. Haven't played too much yet, but I can play Skyrim with 2k hd textures, enb, and more mods. Haven't check the actual fps, but I can't feel any lag, so it must be around 50ish I'm guessing. Love the matte screen so much! And the keyboard too! I'm still getting used to it, but the feel and response is really great. Plus it's a backlit keyboard.Really satisfied with my Sager. Thanks XoticPC!
-
Hrm... am I being paranoid or has the "Glare Type" (glossy) screen option for the NP9370 disappeared from XoticPC? I see the expensive option, but I thought I recalled the standard option being a glossy screen instead of a matte screen.

Alright, thanks for the info. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can replace the screen yourself in these models, so long as you are sure which part is compatible
-
I was wanting the glossy screen purely out of the fact I wanted to avoid the sort of lack of color "depth" that tends to come with them, but now I'm considering shirking it and attempting to find a suitable wider gamut matte screen.
Edit: Stymie all of that... I think I only need to know one more thing. Regarding the 3D model of the NP9370, what version of the NVidia 3D Vision glasses are presently shipping with it? -
Hello everyone,
After reading all the posts on this thread and others I have decided to purchase the np9370 myself.
I went with the Matte Display, i7 3740, 16gb RAM, 7970m Crossfire. I just got finished installing Windows 7 following Sequencer's guide and ran Unigine Heaven, thanks Sequencer!
I did have one small issue. The fans would run max upon reboots and when starting Windows followed by 5 beeps. After hearing this multiple times I opened it up to find the CPU fan connector was loose. I reseated it and have not had the issue since.
Everything else is working great, this thing is a beast -
So I Finally placed my order through Mythlogic.
And this post is basically my experience with them so far.
I won't create a propaganda other than stating the facts ,, and letting you decide.
Their representative here on NPR was EXTREMELY patient and helpful with me. I acknowledge the fact that I get extremely picky and annoying, specially when 4000 bucks dropping out of my pocket, and he handled it very well. He always had the right and convincing answer, and if asked for opinion, the answer will be tailored upon your needs.
I got the one cooler that cool 'em all, NotePal U3 for free.
I got the Killer 1202 ,, with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 for free.
And to top it off, I received a 30 bucks discount.
so basically I tried to show my gratitude by ordering a custom lid wrap that holds their cool logo with a tribal kinda theme to it.
The transaction was done safely using PayPal, it took me few minutes to set up an account and verify email, card.
so for now,, the waiting game begins ,, I hope I will receive the machine before February since this is an international order.
So what now?? I know that Mythlogic have their own latest drivers that already comes in a CD with the package.
I noticed many stressed on the cleaning factor, does it get that dirty ?? I mean c'mon .. or is it just to maintain that benchmark number ??
I opted for Win8 Pro ,, is there anythnig different to setup that on Win7 ??

I have a Prostar branded clevo P370EM3. I ordered it with 2 750gb drives in raid 1 and want to use a msata ssd to cach the drives using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I see it only uses up to 64GB. Can I buy a 256 and use it as is, can I use the rest for storage? Will the larger drive lead to a longer life?
Does anyone make a 4 pin din extention cord for the massive power brick. The attached cord is a bit short for me.
Thanks
Mark -
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe that you can cache an existing array. You will be able to cache one of the drives though. The catch is that the caching system can only be applied in windows.
So, you would have to install Windows on one of your other drives long enough to install the RST, apply the cache, format the rest of the SSD, format the drive with windows, then install Windows onto the SSD.

Originally I ordered two 750GB Hybrid Drives but a day before it was scheduled to ship out, I got a call from Mythlogic that one of the drives failed and was told getting two regular 750GB would be a better idea. I'm very happy they called because after i made the order, i realized (looking at newegg.com and various sites) that the hybrid drives have extremely bad reliability and was a bit worried they would die with in he first few months of use. I was happy I was able to switch!
The packing they did is fantastic and shows they handled everything with care wile putting everything in the box.
This machine is replacing a 4 year old Mac Pro and 4 year old PC. Its primary use will be for audio / video work (replacing my mac pro) and then gaming (the PC).
I'm going to play around with this thing later tonight and see what happens and then update this post with snapshots of everything.

and
Amazon.com: Targus Demolition Backpack Designed to Fit up to 17.3-Inch Laptops TSB220US (Black): Computers & Accessories
but there are others which should fit as well.
Found this one while I was looking, which if I can be sure it fits, I might very well go for
http://www.amazon.com/Everki-Backpack-Console-18-Inch-EKP117NBKCT/dp/B002WOBBVO/ref=pd_cp_pc_0
I might be a little twisted, but when a review mentions dead muppets, I frankly am automatically intrigued lol. Thing is, apparently this laptop has a height measurement of 1.55"~1.96" and the Everki only seems to support up to 1.77". BUT apparently the G75 fits in it, which, given its measurements, should mean that this laptop fits as well... though I can't be absolutely certain. The part of me that feels like the padding should have enough give to accomodate an extra 1/5th of an inch tells me that it would work though. -
And the deed has finally been done!

Already got another 750GB HDD to throw in it and some IC Diamond ready to apply. Just gonna run twin mechanicals until SSDs don't cost organs. I have a hoarding problem lol (especially since my PCs all serve as "backups" for each other).
The screen dilemma ended up pushing me towards paying a little extra for the 72%/3D/120Hz loadout instead of the standard P370, and I'm pretty glad I did. I won't use the 3D much myself, but I will be using it as an excuse to get some gal to sit really close to me to watch a movie
Another $350 or so on a few other things and I'll be golden. Definitely looking forward to the Asus RT-N66U I'll be picking up as well, even though a Killer 1203 doesn't presently exist to pair with it. I love my WRT-54G, but the thing deserves retirement in its old (almost 10 years) age ^_^.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out with my random, frequent questioning -
My rig finally arrived the other day. So far I'm impressed with everything except for the sound. Not enough bass. Then again it could be these craptastic Bose headphones I have. Either way, luckily I still have the first generation Corsair USB headset. After a little fumbling around, it sounds awesome!
About the rig, I pretty much stuck with the basics since I already had some parts at the house and plan to build it out over time.
Core i7 3630QM
Single 680M
8GB of RAM
500GB 7200rpm HDD
Optical drive caddy
Centrino 6235 WiFi/Bluetooth
Regular glossy screen
Planning to pick up another 8GB at some point. I may go higher depending on how much I wind up using VM's on this thing. Luckily I already have storage taken care of. Mushkin mSATA, Samsung 830, Intel X-25M and a 750GB WD Caviar Black all standing by for installation.
Very happy that I stuck to most everyone's advice and got a single 680M to start. That little card is really potent. And its price reflects it. lol. I'll get a second one at some point.
Really wanted to get the i7 3740QM, but the 680M pushed me right at the edge of my budget.
Went with the regular glossy screen because I plan to swap in the LG 120hz panel at some point. The panel itself is only $95 at laptopscreen.com (I've ordered from them before, very good store). Just gotta source that 50-pin cable that looks to be required for the panel itself.
And finally, I have to give a shout out to Larry over at LPC-Digital. Spoke to him over the phone and he happily cleared up any questions or concerns that I had. Thanks again Larry!
