You did that in XTU? If so you have to remove the PSU, Battery and then disconnect the CMOS battery (below the keyboard) for like 30 seconds, after that it will be back to normal. ;)

Okay first thing is 94*C is definitely to high. Nvidia says the max operating temperature is 95*C but I was having similar problems, even with stock VBIOS and no overclocking.

First thing I tried was new drivers, at the time was 36.97 WHQL and that seemed to help with temperatures. Then I re-applied thermal paste with Shin-Etsu G751 and that had me at acceptable temperatures but once I started with the modified VBIOS and got some real overclocks finally, not just the memory I began another quest to improve my temps, very jealous of the Alienware users 680m temps.

I re-applied thermal paste 2 times with the G751 just to make sure I did a good job cause I never pasted before so I had doubts but I ended up wanting to use IC Diamond and I'm glad I did. I re-pasted both GPU's and the CPU and added some extra copper memory heatsinks, probably similar to what you have and now, other than snapping off a screw in my heatsink, I'm very pleased with temperatures. Very, very pleased. I rarely break the 80*C mark with the most demanding games, and yes GPU2 is usually 3-10*C hotter, and even lower than70 and sometimes both cards in the 50's.

I just read that you are having severe memory problems and unfortunately I don't know how to help with that. If you find time while dealing with that nuisance I would love to see what your copper cooling upgrade looks like professionally done.

You can see 2 of the pieces of copper I added, along with the screw I broke off in this picture. I really want to see a couple photos of yours.

    Hi,

This is just an option, that's why I told you "some may have it, others may not"...

When you will order/if you order, ask your reseller/system builder if he can provide you with this module.
Also, it's probably possible to order it as a spare part.

You could then get a WiFi card installed in the PCI Express Mini slot (the half-sized one; the full-sized is set to be an mSATA connector) and a Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR module (which is an internal USB device).

    Regards!

I read the manual like 100 time but I didn't see this figure! I must be sleepy , thank you maaaaaan like trillion time , time to apply :(

    Edit1:

It worked THANK GOD, first kept rebooting again and again then when I tried to disconnect AC adapter, it booted up! but it seems like the fans trying to works but it look like something shut them down! after w8 came up the XTU shows up, so I choose the default values to restore what i missed up, so the system rebooted again but it entered in the same loop without :(

    Edit2:
F*** yeah, it worked again, I remove the entire program, what a nightmare @_@!

    This might help a little

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-look-review-wingnut-style-lots-images-6.html

The trick to pasting is first cleaning the CPU or GPU and heatsink so there's no leftover paste.
Then the real trick is putting the right amount of paste and placing a big enough portion directly in the middle of the CPU/GPU and let the heatsink spread it when you put it back on.

Took me a little practice but I know how to do it now :)

    Especially to:

Prema for his mentoring, advices and patience
    &
TimeLord84, who helped to dump the BIOS.

    Thank you guys.
Today I flashed the chip on programmer and soldered it back. And it's alive!!!

    You're very welcome, anytime.

Can anyone tell me for 100% sure which cards are GPU1 and GPU2? I think the "Slave" GPU which is on the side closer to the CPU, and actually share 1/3 of the fan cooling.

Anyone know the answer to this?

The primary GPU is the one that is right next to the CPU (When you look at the bottom) and GPU2 is the one that is "above" the CPU and does share a fan with the CPU. GPU1 does NOT share a fan with anything.

    Thank you very much Myth'

@Solid Eye do you see that post, GPU 1 is the one by itself and GPU 2 is the one right above the CPU. So to repaste GPU 2 you must take off the CPU heatsink as well.

    Hello,

With this picture I "stole" from the HTWingNut's P370EM thread (I hope he won't blame me too much for that...), you probably will get a better idea:

The green rectangle is where the Bluetooth module is fixed when your laptop comes with this option or if you upgrade later.
The yellow one is where you can add an mSATA SSD.
And the red one is the place of the WiFi or WiFi+Bluetooth card.

Also, you can see the power and data cable (with the white connector) and the antenna wire (with the blue sleeve).

The references of the module are the following ones:
Part Name: BLUETOOTH CASTLENET BTC04R281B V2.1 8 PIN USB CSR BC04 A07 (4839) WITH MS BT
    Part Number: 6-88-M77C5-5300

There is another part number but, unfortunately, I don't know which one is the most useful... Maybe a reseller could enlighten us:
    Part Number: 6-79-P370EM0B-001

    Regards!

I'm having a bit of an issue with setting up my headset mic on this laptop. I installed the realtek audio drivers that came with the sager win 8 drivers cd and that didn't really help much so i went ahead and scrubbed that and reinstalled the latest drivers on realtek website and that didn't help any.

I made sure that the headset wasn't the problem here and double checked on my wife's toshiba laptop and on my desktop and both work perfectly as soon as u plug it in.

no matter what tweaks i seem to do in the recording device settings (increase db+, mic volume), etc) it just doesn't pick anything up.

I'm using the High Def. Audio input device. Any ideas/input?

Hey owners! I have a couple questions for you!
I used to own a clevo, then went to asus, now I'm looking at going with the 9370. It is going to be my high end "portable" gaming system.

First, do you see much of a difference between having a single 680 versus two of them? Are the temps a lot higher with the second card?
Should I go with the AMD gpu instead? I'm kind of shying away from them in this round, as I have a 5850 in my asus now. No real bad issues, but the drivers do sometimes cause issues. But then Nvidia also has the added PhysX too. Which might be nice.

Should I get it configured with the msata drive as the O/S drive, or as an SRT drive? Does the SRT really help that much?

    thanks for your help!!

    Hey,
I cant comment on the 680 x1 vs sli but being an exclusive nvidia user for the past 12 years i was worried about that myself. tbh i find the 7970m surprisingly powerful. i was worried the transition would be rough but this gpu has made short work of everything i threw at it, for a fraction of the cost i opted for amd, i can always add gpus or swap down the line.

I stil use my sli 670 on my desktop and tbh i find myself opting to game on the laptop rather than the desktop even at home.

as far as hdd i just got a single 750 gb 7200 for storsge and just installed my intel ssd, a hell of a lot cheaper this way. ive yet to run into any problems.

The ambient temperature is 75-76*F so about 24-26*C. I'm really not too sure about the temperatures before pasting and adding extra copper. I know with FarCry 3 My max GPU temp is actually 80*C on second card but every other game is around these numbers above.

But Larry arranged a new PSU to be sent out the day after Christmas, and i just got it today (two days later). All while remaining more than courteous, and speedy with his replies. He even made contact ON CHRISTMAS!

generally I have three questions before finally placing my order,,

    1. Isn't mSATA used to buffer the HDD?? then why do I see some people are using it as a main or secondary drive?? anyone ??

    2. how big a difference between the 680m and the 680mx ?? is it worth the wait?

    3. should I go with win8 now or stay with win7 ?? any major driver issues ??

    thanks

As jaug1337 pretty much any will work. Just make sure its a 12.7mm and SATA connection. You then take the bezel off the existing drive and put it on there.

Yes you can set it up as a Cache (via software), Main Drive, or just a second storage drive. If you have a SSD as the main drive you dont need to a mSATA for cache, but if you have a HDD then it will speed things up.

The mSATA slot runs at SATA II speed (up to 3GB per second). The two 'regular' 2.5" slots run at SATA III speed (up to 6GB per second). For a System Drive SSD most owners will tell you that you won't really notice the difference between SATA II & III, other than benchmarking. I don't notice a difference in several laptops running the same model of 9.5mm 2.5" SSD (Crucial M4).

And yes, you can use a mSATA drive for caching your slow HDD. This is called Intel Smart Response Technology and is managed by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software. Once you install a mSATA SSD, a new tab for caching should be created in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software. Or you may have to reinstall the software. I don't know, my system drives are all SSDs for the past 3 years. Though I do use a HDD for backups in slot 2 of my P370EM, but I may replace that with a 7mm 2.5" 512GB Crucial M4 once the price drops to $335 again.

You can only use up to a 64GB mSATA SSD for Intel Smart Response Technology.

You'll have to supply your own mounting screw if you get a P370EM without a mSATA SSD. Ask your Clevo reseller.

thanks guys .. so basically if I had a 64G mSATA OS drive, 128G SSD software drive, and a 750G HDD drive, that would be the best optimization I assume? since I can't afford all SSD's

In that config, I would use the 128GB for your OS and Software, then use the 64GB mSATA as a cache for the 750GB

Personally, I would pay a little more to upgrade to Win 7 Pro and take the $14.99 "no thank you" discount from Microsoft. ;)

    Hazza3, nice build!

    • Just curious, what do you need 32GB of memory for?
    • Also, are you sure you don't want to spend an extra $40 for a Blu-Ray player?
    • I would ditch the mSATA altogether and get a 512GB Samsung 840 PRO or save some money with a 512GB Crucial M4. If you're just using the mSATA SSD as a caching drive to accelerate the HDD, and you're just using the HDD as a storage/backup drive, then you probably don't need the mSATA SSD. If you're dual-booting, then the mSATA SSD comes in handy.
    • Some people wait until the first Service Pack is released before committing to a new OS. I run Win8 in a VM and wouldn't want it as my primary OS just yet. Other people love it. If you go with Win7, make sure you get at least the Pro version since it looks like you may need a ton of memory.
    • If you'll use the notebook in a bright environment, then maybe a matte LCD would be easier on the eyes. Looking at your 32GB memory and your glossy LCD, maybe you work with digital photography or videography?
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to criticize how you or anyone else spends their own money, I'm just trying to help.

Just my 2 cents. And some change. :)
