Yes, that seems more inline of what you'd expect for GPU temperatures upon load.

    Hi,

I should be receiving my XMG P722 17.3" Pro Gaming Notebook (aka Clevo P370EM / Sager NP9370) tomorrow from MySN UK.

I was wondering if there is anything I need to know about setting up the computer? Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit is coming installed on the system, so is it just start up and go, or is there anything people would recommend I do in setting it up? Thanks.

Specs (in case anyone needs to know):

This is my first experience with XMG/Clevo/Sager after using Dells for the last decade or so, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on the new system! There isn't a whole lot that you'll need to do as it should be ready to go when you start it up. One thing you might want to do is to check your CPU/GPU temps to make sure they're in good ranges and then run 3Dmark to test that you're GPU is working correctly. Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Thank you both. According to tracking my new computer is stuck at Gatwick Airport at the moment *sigh.* When it does arrive, where would I find the software to check my temps and 3Dmark please?

As for buying new games in the steam sale, between the new computer and christmas my funds are a little stretched. (I didn't break the bank, but there may be a few holes in the walls. ;) ) So I think I'll be limiting myself to just some DLC for Shogun 2 and XCOM. :D

    All the Best,

    Union Jack.

Haha a pity the game sucks (even though Crysis 2 is better for the story; maybe it had plotholes but at least it was spectacular and not limited to "there are evil koreans and aliens who wanna kill everybody !" which is the very exact and fully detailed plot of the first)! Especially the multiplayer. :p
You can buy the Secret World though, it's excellent in terms of writing but should be seen as a coop game rather than a real MMO - it's really designed for solo or 3-4 people experience max. But there is no subscription, and will make your computer cry (dx11 tessellation txaa/fxaa...).

To Union jack : hwinfo for temperatures HWiNFO64 Download and 3Dmark11 for benching on dx11 which you can find on... steam, apparently. :p

    Hey guys,

Just got my Eurocom Scorpius. Love this thing, a much needed upgrade from my previous D901c.
    Quick specs:
    3740qm
    1x680m
    Samsung 830 SSD
    16gb ram

I'm having some issues. I keep getting the message "Display driver has crashed and recovered." This is just happening in windows sessions, usually associated with running chrome but has happened at other times. I'm hoping this doesn't spell a bad card because it seems to be running fine otherwise. I'm running the newest beta drivers but have tried others as well; currently 310.70.

Thanks for any help. I'll try running the basic furmark this evening and see how it goes.

Well at that point if you just got the laptop, I suppose you still haven't installed many things. If it's the case, I guess you could make a reinstall of windows if you have windows 8 through computer settings / general / boot (no, that's not killing a fly with a nuke, if his system is still new). If not, I don't know what could cause that given that you tried different drivers.

Thank you Thundercast. Unfortunately I now won't be needing these till Monday, as my computer is stuck at Heathrow Airport and DHL don't deliver on Saturdays unless you paid for Saturday Delivery... even though it would appear the delay is at their end anyway which is why it wasn't delivered on the Friday.

Honestly, this makes me so MAD!

*Sigh.* It's going to be a loooooooong weekend.

EDIT: Okay, I take back what I said about DHL. It's just been delivered.
    All the Best,

LOL, the hulk has calmed down and is now a happy chap ;)

Most decent couriers will deliver on a Saturday if they screwed up earlier in the week. (Well they do when I prod them anyway)

Perfect advice. Was running windows 7 64 bit, upgraded to W8 and no problems since. Still using the same drivers but everything seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the help, time to benchmark and make sure this thing is operating correctly.

Just as a note, the common guidance is that crucial M4 drives can be reset by removing the data cable and turning on the system with just the power connected, not really possible in a notebook.

This works as the drive controller resets if no commands or data are sent for an extended period, this also happens to be the case in the system bios.

There should be options in the synaptics driver panel, if not try grabbing the latest drivers from them.

In all my back and forth in deciding which notebook to get, and being 3 choices all segar/clevo I never looked at this one, thought be more out of my price range when all is said and done. I can configure it at my max spending cap I made for myself, and not much more than the np9170, but have the added benifit for future upgrade to sli from single 7970, and dont have to deal with enduro issues..I like that...Hopefully sale prices hold out long enough..or well new ones come after current set

System is up and running like a champ! Big thanks to all the info on here and to Rebkos for helping me with the OC'ing of the 7970.
Everything was eventually ironed out except for one small glitch with MSI afterburner where if i OC to 940/1400 and try and revert back to stock 850mhz/1200 it goes down to 300/150 instead and i then need to reboot the machine to restore stock clock. So far this isn't a big deal since the card handles the games just fine on stock but in the event i'd want to oc, this would be a nice feature to have working and not glitch on me. Any ideas?

Threw quite a bit of games at it so far (far cry 3, dishonored, borderlands 2, bf3, Planetside 2, guild wars 2, Assassin's creed 3) and the 7970 took it like a pro. (I believe all were on max settings @51-60 fps with temps of 70-80 C)

I am glad to say that i have joined the owners league with my purchase of a 9370 from xoticpc. However i am having some major issues with my graphics card 680m I am running driver version 310.70 my vbios is 80.04.33.00.10 (p2051-b002)

The issue i am having is my GPU core clock at is 101.3MHZ idle when i start a game or benchmark it hits a maximum of 179.6 MHZ and shows the gpu usage at 99%. I am using Hwinfo64 and GPU-z to record this. Also under both i am showing the Video Bus running at x8 v1.1 instead of x16 v3.0

Now before i ship this puppy back to sager for a new video card is there any tricks i can try to kick this card into shape?

You need a vBIOS upgrade, why they are still shipping it like that IDK. Its a bug we reported a long time ago.. There is a fixed vBIOS, you should be able to flash it in DOS with the latest version of nVflash. So you'll need to turn off the Secureboot, boot to DOS, flash it, and then turn secureboot back on. The vBIOS version is 80.04.67.00.01 you probably have 80.04.3x.xx.xx which yup sure does have that issue :p

Please note I've attached the ROM file, no warranty, may eat your children, dog, family, cause the end of the world... just do nvflash -4 -5 -6 800467.rom (you'll probably need to tell it which adapter if you are in SLI) (make sure you do them both if you have SLI at the same time)

Sager would make you send it back for a GPU swap, thats not needed :p We've been shipping nothing but 80.04.67.00.01 for about 5 weeks now, having to upgrade all our 680m. No biggie, thats why we build'em lol.

Go over to the boot tab.. Then the OS Select Entry, then Change Windows 8 to Other, that'll disable it, to boot back into windows its the reverse

Ok I had to disable uefi in the bios and then I was able to boot into the USB drive. I have flashed the card and reinstalled the drivers. weird issue though I am not able to use gpu-z any longer It errors out along with NVidia inspector. Hwinfo does work and I am checking it now. It still shows current clock at 135... with out gpuz I am not able to tell what vbios I am running.

Let me guess, Nvinspector detects your GPU(s)' manufacturer as Schenker, or the error is with .net Framework ? I'm having the same issue. :-(

    Hi all

I've finally decided my mind and ordered an P370em! :D

    i7 3630
    8gb ram
    ssd 120gb samsung 840
    hdd 500gb wd scorpio black
    1 x amd ati 7970m
    intel n 6235 + bt

I will only receive it next week, but like everyone i'm excited and can't wait.

At first I was thinking of using Ubuntu for day to day tasks, and Windows to play... but who am I fooling? I wan this mainly for playing so i don't think i'll try Ubuntu in it.. at least at first.

I was wondering and would like to know from you guys, if there are any important things to do first, as in bios configuration, ssd tweeks, etc.

    cheers

ok guys, back to my message...
what should I do first after installing OS?

regarding drivers and updates, should I install Clevo drivers first and then do windows updates or the opposite?
regarding amd 7970m drivers, i know there are lot's of beta versions... and an older final one. which one is working better at the moment?

    Regards

THX man, but we need a running system dump to write it directly to the chip.

Just run Afuwin on non 3D model with stock settings and hit save:

´just out of curiosity.. does any one ever thought of putting something like this slimDVDRW-S-Front.jpg in this laptop, instead of the stock optical drive?
would this work? what do you think?

(the stock bay is a 5.25" optical (CD/DVD) device (12.7mm height))

Slot loaders work, but they are ugly because all these laptops need custom optical bezels to complete the look, but yea we've stuck them into laptops, they just look like hell.

The stock wireless card is a single band so it wont do 5Ghz, if you havent purchased your computer yet Sager is running a free upgrade option to a dual band one, its part of their holiday specials.

I have to agree with the ugly look, would be nice if you could order a custom bezel for slot loaders as I always preferred them to tray load.

    Hello,

I'm sorry but I cannot do more as I don't have any access to a non-3D version.
I hope someone else will be able to help you...

Just a question: Isn't there any recovery procedure on this laptop, like a key combination (Fn+B) at startup?

    Regards!
