I don't own that cooler or the P370. There is no way the P370 will fit under that cooler unless you remove the fans each time you go to store it.

yes, it must be without fans!
i don't think you can put any laptop at all in it with the fans there.. unless it's some ultrabook...

again, will the P370 fit in it as in the picture, without the fans?

Just to clarify for storing it and transporting it so it acts like a cage I guess?

It's 55mm or 2.16 inches tall, so you could use that to check compared to others ricak.

Holy frak is it normal that the power brick (we could really make a hammer out of this thing) is emitting ultrasounds ? That's just... awful. Made the mistake of putting it 30 cm from me, now I feel like somebody slapped me in the ear...

What people call it will differ but it's basically capacitor whine. If you only hear that close then it's probably normal and nothing wrong with it. If you can hear it audibly every time you plug it in, you might want to contact your reseller about getting a replacement. There really isn't anything dangerous about it, just is evidence that it may die sooner than one not doing it.

Thanks Derek ! Yeah it basically depends on it's relative position to me. Like if I rotate it I won't hear it anymore. Glad I took an extended warranty in case it fails !
PS : don't wanna be nerdy but theoretically coils should be the only components able to emit any audio freq due to the resonance in the coil rings created by the signal. Never really heard of this phenomenon but we might want to call it "coil whine" instead, unless capacitor in everyday life is more than the pure theoretical electric capacitor. :D

Just a heads up, the power adapter and battery have a separate warranty than the machine warranty. Generally no more than a year on those parts. Check with your reseller to see what yours in particular will be.

Yeah well I isolated the sound, now it's barely audible, I think it was simply the (defective) AC of my room freaking me out. :p

Yes that sound has also plagued desktop users and can be changed by what devices are plugged in, if your lights are on, the specific resistances of the AC adaptor you are using.

Harmonics like that can be a real pain to predict.

I just placed a order for this system, after having reschearched it for a while.

    Intel Core i7-3740QM
    2x 8gb- 16gb 1600mhz ram
    AMD HD7970m 2GB GDDR5 in CrossFire
    2x Samsung 830, 256GB in Raid 0
    Intel 6235AGN Wireless

I will be reading about the drives for the amd 7970, until i am installing windows on it.
All drives for it have been downloade from clevos website.

Little question tho, are there never drivers for the raid controller and the usb 3.0 controller, ?
I plan on installing windows using a usb 3.0 key.

Anything else i should be aware of while installing software and drives on this system ?

I anyone wants to see any benchmarks from it let me know.

    Hi everyone,

I was actually wondering if the HDMI port on the NP9370 is both input/output or just output? It would be nice to plugin my Xbox like you could do in the AW M18x. I think it would be even better on the NP9370 since you can configure it now with 120Hz screen. Also, I would like to know about the build quality of the NP9370 in comparison to the M18x.

The build quality on any Sager is pretty hard to beat. I'd trust a Sager build over Alienware any day.

The HDMI will be output only. Input requires a separate HDMI port that the 9370 does not have. This isn't due to having the correct screen, rather the hardware to support it. The 9370 does not offer that.

Thanks Derek. I really like the professional look of the NP9370 as opposed to theM18x and would have obviously been happier with that feature being included, oh well, I guess you can’t really have it all...

Anybody notice the price of sli 680m in xoticpc.com around 650 $ for np9370-3d. Comparing it to others its so much cheaper, is there any reason for it? Maybe their trying to dispose all there 680m stock since the new 680mx is coming.

Pricing is constantly fluctuating and checked daily with Sager as well as the rest of our partnerships in the industry. As far as I've been made aware there is no intention of liquidating inventory at the moment and haven't even received confirmation of the 680MX coming to market in the Sagers as well. Feel free to take advantage!

    1) Hey, my wifi card is an intel 6235. The thing is that my download speeds are weird; they range from 0 to nearly 20 mb/s, and it's really annoying because it keeps kind of throttling and falling back to 0 when it downloads to fast, especially on usenet, which corrupts the file sometimes. Is this a driver problem, or rather the university's ty network unable to handle multiband cards and throttling me to preserve the bandwidth ? Edit : even steam suspends the downloads when it happens to much.
    2) Also, the + on the numpad is higher than the other keys, and i have to press it really hard for it to work. After I pressed it, I can use it normally for a few minutes.Anyone knows how to fix this ?
    3) Are the built-in speakers that bad, or do they need some configuration ? Because right now the right channel is all right but the left channel sounds more like a central/front speaker ( test on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTvJoYnpeRQ ). It's really obvious and disturbing.
    4) There are a lot of female jack on the side of the laptop. I recognize the headset and the microphone ones, what are the two other for ? If that's 5.1 the drawing are the worst description of the channels I've ever seen xD ( pictures here http://web.eurocom.com/EC/ec_images(230) if the link doesn't work press enter in the address bar , also what is that port at the rear between the hdmi and the ac ?)
    Thaaaanks !

I can't answer the first 3 but for number four the port to the right of the HDMI port is a mini display port. The ports to the right of the card reader are a line in jack and then an s/pdif port respectively.

    1. It's likely that your university is throttling you and not the card itself. I went to UNL and in the dorms or throughout the campus even, you had as a connected user a limited amount of badwidth. If you exceeded a certain amount of data in a set time they would throttle me severely. Keep in mind that the university IT guys are likely college students as well but well versed in their craft. I'm sure they're completely aware of usenet and how to throttle those connections, they have all the keys.

    2. Did you spill anything on it recently or something may have fallen in the cracks?

    3. Look into the audio properties and make sure the settings are set up for the 2 speaker internal setting. The sound really isn't exceptional, but you should be able to get left/right equalized no problem.

From my experience. You should choose external speakers in THX console properties and enable loudness equalization in speakers settings. You can play with other settings in Creative software also. With proper tweaks you can get sound close to DynAudio speakers, that are the best at the market right now(my opinion).

    1. Although high speed is probably the problem (on another, much less powerful laptop limited to 4 mB/s I don't have this problem) on steam, I doubt they could have throttled usenet. I'm rerouting the ports and using SSL encryption on usenet so the only thing they could do is limiting the whole bandwidth a single computer can have, but in that case I don't understand why usenet simply won't work and steam would be all fine. Also, they're not well versed, if you wanna laugh, they removed all ethernet plugs from the walls, I'm quoting "because wifi is faster, more secure and as reliable as wired connections".
    2. No, nothing happened to the keyboard afaik, since the laptop is new. Maybe I should try to remove and replug the keyboard; but I have no idea how to do so since the keys seem to be independant. By the way the key is very noisy, and will work normally if I press it exactly at its center, but not on the edges (if I haven't press it very hard before).
    3. I'm gonna try to play with the equalization, but basically I'd be surprise to do so since anyway the left hp is physically more centered than the right one, but yeah it shouldn't be that obvious to hear.
    Thanks !

I have read here earlier on someone recommending a second AC adapter for someone who said that their NP9370 shuts down without warning during gaming. Do I really need a second AC adapter and a Power Converter Box? Or one is adequate? Some re-sellers actually offer that option ( MYTHLOGIC) some don't (xoticpc)..

About some keys not being responsive. I too have this issue but on the "tab", "q", 'caps lock' and "Left Shift" keys. Really annoying! Can I pop the keys off and see what is underneath? Only have had this laptop for 1 week.

Honestly that's not really useful, as you even have a good margin to overclock a sli system with the default AC. Only buy it if you really end up needing it, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen.

A second one should only really be needed when overclocking, but has anyone managed to connect one up to a socket power monitor to see how close it will be getting to the 330-360W amount that would indicate a 300W system draw.

Do remember that 180W is not enough for an overclocked 680M + I7 so considering the second card needs at least a 100W then that's not a lot of room.

I had a problem with my spacebar on my laptop (not this Sager) and it was only a week old. I popped out the keyboard and found the ribbon cable was not completely secured. I secured it and have no problems since. Little things like this can get overlooked on the assembly line even from the best manufacturers. That may not be your problem, and you really shouldn't have to deal with it on a laptop of this cost, but it is worth looking at to save time and trouble you will have calling in or even sending it back for repair.

On my older laptops I could just put my nail under a corner of the keyboard and pull to lift the keyboard off the laptop. Can I do so with the p370 without damaging it, or do we have to unscrew something ? Because it looks like the keys are independent unlike the keyboards I had on the other computers. And yeah that definitely looks like something was a bit overlooked and that it's gonna be quite easy fixable without having to RMA.

When I read that, I went berserk and pressed ultra hard the faulting key. It made an enormous *CLAC* and the key suddenly went deep to the right - or to be exact, the key was equally balanced on the sides (it used to be inclined to the left). Now it's very silent and it acts completely like any other normal key. Seems like I'm not gonna have any trouble again with this one. Thanks !

Got the laptop about a week ago with the 7970m crossfire arrangement. I saw a couple posts in this thread, but no real answers so I guess I will try to ask again. Did anyone have any luck, or know for sure the capability of driving two external displays at the same time. Tried it with a monitor and tv combo (with monitor in the display port with an HDMI adapter, and tv with HDMI) and although the second display connected is recognized I can never get it to display. The option to either extend or mirror is there, but windows 7 controls only return an error that the display setting cannot be saved. Both the HDMI and display port work perfectly when driving a display, but the second display connected will not work. Also it sucks having to disconnect the cables every time you want to switch over the config, is there an easier way to do this, ie software based, where you can actually choose what display out port to use without having to disconnect them and have windows re-detect it?

I just received my sager np9370 today and began setting it up.
I've been messing it with the drivers and finally got around to the AMD 7970m drivers. given im new to AMD i have no idea which driver to get. I was recommended the 12.11 beta 8 drivers but i noticed the beta 11 drivers are out as well? are those better?

Initial impression of the laptop are:

    Pros:
    Amazing build quality
top notch component and service (through xoticpc personally)
surprisingly nice speakers considering the negative comments
relatively good battery considering the punch it packs.
    nice features

    Cons:
HORRIBLE!!!!! keyboard layout... seriously... ! im constantly bumping caps lock and misc. keys. I know lap top kbs arent the greatest but my toshiba and hp have had perfect layouts
Not the greatest track pad but i use a wireless mouse so eh..

    all i got so far.

Don't you have the impression that the left speaker is too centered ? :O Also for the keyboard I guess I must be used to it; I love the p370 keyboard as it is more or less the standard layout on all my computer (in France / Europe ?) so I'm used to it. You have the windows 8 keyboard right ? Apparently there are different keyboards for win 7 and win 8 :s. Have fun with the laptop !

i dont have the same impression about the speakers, if anything the right side has a bit more of a punch, i assume due to the subwoofer/speaker on the bottom right. The keyboard does take some getting used, i mean i've been using it for the past couple hours and i'm @ about 90% comfort, so i guess after 10+ years of the same layout, kinda got used to the other. The keys feel and look amazing, just having a bit of problem with the proximity between A and caps lock it seems.

Yea i got the win 8 kb, first time on win 8 as well so this laptop seems to have a bit more of a learning curve due to first amd card / os.

i'll go ahead and get it up and running and give a more in-depth review of the unit.

Sure as hell enjoying it tho!

    edit:
So, I've got some preliminary stress tests running, intel burn seems to work just fine but kombustor is kicking the crap out of my card (amd 7970m on beta drivers 12.11 beta 11). It's @99% gpu load and at 99-100 Celsius... that can't be normal... right?

It looks like something wrong with your TIM application or it could be that your heatsink is loose. This way you will have to replace thermal paste.
BTW what is your ambient temps?

i went ahead and reinstalled my graphics drivers, quick reboot, and now i'm getting 87 C @ 99% on kombustor with ambient of 40 C.

what are the usual numbers under load?

I hope it ain't the paste because i actually paid extra for it so i wouldn't have to gut the laptop right out of the package.

Wow!!! Where are you running your laptop? Outside in UAE? For ambient 40C that numbers are ok. You will get significantly lower numbers with room temps ~25C.

recorded highest temperature i get while playing farcry 3 for almost 2 hour I got 80 C, so i think is normal temp what you got there since your ambient temperature is really high

Where exactly are you that room temperature is around 43 Celsius (C) which is about 110 Fahrenheit (F) in Virginia? According to weather dot com, it is about 6.1 C ( 43 F) for outside temperature in Richmond, VA.

The room temperature is set to 73 C, is that why or is it still too high?

Yeah...you mean Fahrenheit for your room temp. At 163 degrees Fahrenheit or 73 degrees Celsius you would be dead.

Your computer is probably giving you temps in Celsius and if you live in Virginia then you're used to Fahrenheit readings.

    Update:
I went ahead and re-installed the beta drivers once more and rebooted and so far i've been getting steadier temps. @ 31-39 C on light use and 82-85C @97-99% load while gaming. (guild wars 2, planetside 2, bf3 all on ultra).

I must say this machine is chewing through everything i throw at it!!
