What screen do you have that's back ordered? The 95% one or the stock matte or glossy?

People are getting this information from here.
Even though it is all four types of displays, I wouldn't worry about it. The ETA is the 13th, which is two days from now.

I don't have the NP9150 yet so I'm afraid I can't help you remove the mobo, but usually when I get stuck taking a laptop apart, there are some screws that I missed or that other parts are covering up. You may have to remove everything that you can see (including bezels) in hopes of finding the screws that prevent the mobo's release.

I'm very interested in what you are doing as my only major concern before purchasing the NP9150 from Xotic is the sound quality when using the on-board speakers. I have a Dell XPS l501x and the sound from the JBL speaker setup is simply amazing. I would love to see the pictures you have and how you determined which speakers would fit. If it were possible, I'd love to put the JBL speakers in the NP9150. Also, do you know of a way to increase the wattage going to the speakers?

You can use imgur.com or photobucket type sites to host the pictures you have if you are still willing to upload them.

    Keep us updated!

has anyone rigged a 3d display on this model yet? I have a nvidia 3d vision kit sitting at my local pawn shop for peanuts and I'd love to pick it up. I'm also considering just buying the PS3 3d display and using that instead.

I've had a 9150 for a week now with the 7970. Been getting BSODs for atikmpag.sys constantly when I run Skyrim/MW3 with youtube videos in the background (I like to listen while I play).

Does anyone have any advice/run into a similar problem? I'm going to try reinstalling the AMD driver in a moment to see if that fixes it.

Yeah I just wish I could afford the 512GB m4 crucial its down to 400. I'll probably upgrade in half a year when I have more money and 512s drop to 300 or so haha. I'll have to sell my 256 to a friend for like 100 or give it away lol.

Sooo, do you guy's think that the 7970m on this machine will run Assassins Creed 3 on ultra?
Also, if anyone knows of the game 'Watch Dogs', and do you think the 7970m will be able to run that as well?

The 7970m can play almost every current title on ultra, check out the site notebookcheck.net for an exhaustive games/gpu list. As far as future games that nobody has ever actually played, we'll see. ;)

it should be able to run it on ultra with playable fps, if not then a l slight overclock should do the trick.

Question on the PSU. I know it is a 180w output to the laptop, but that is also the draw of the PSU from the plug? I know a normal 110-120 volt ac wall outlet have variable wattage, but I'm trying to see what the wattage draw is from the wall when maxed out.

180W is the max power from the wall to the PSU and that can be recieved by the laptop from the PSU. Plus or minus a few losses here and there.

    Aprox 1.6Amps @ 110Volts

Thats is essentially correct. You may find that it will run fine in low power mode or just charging as you are not drawing the max current. However if you try to run the laptop at full power you will probably get the laptop switching continuously between power and battery... not good as it changes power state modes continuously and the screen will prob flash!

You can get a 200Watt inverter for a car but be aware that you will run the car battery down quite fast if the car is not running

Any suggestions on how to keep the power draw at or about 150w? Will a smaller PSU work? Or settings I could force the laptop to operate only using X watts?

There is no set way to draw X amount of power. Turning off Wifi, bluetooth, dimming the display, limiting the CPU usage and using the i7 GPU instead of the AMD or nVidia will all reduce power consumption.

I'm not sure what the power requirements are per laptop device as the P150em can be configured a quite a number of different ways. So I can't advise specifically. I just know that the PSU is designed to handle the laptop if all singinging all dancing and charging.

Plugging a smaller PSU will make the laptop use that power and no more, but putting it under pressure (the laptop) might cause a crash, higher temperatures or just not enough power at all.

Anyone have any recommendations for a protective sleeve? With my MBP i would travel with it inside the Booq Vyper in my backpack, so I'm looking for a similarly protective sleeve to fit in my backpack.

Apparently the 9150 won't fit in a Vyper, so is there anything else out there besides the Brain Cell?

It causes the laptop to keep kicking back and forth from battery to power supply which tends to make the power saving battery setting and plugged in power settings jump in and out. It also causes teh PSU to get pretty warm too.

Yeah I was just wondering if the 7970m could run ACIII because notebookcheck.com never uses Assassins Creed games for benchmarks. But then again, Assassins Creed 3 is not yet released, so I’m not really sure if it could run it

Also, does anyone know as to when XoticPC will get their new batch of 7970m cards? they gave me an ETA of June 11, but I haven't received an email yet :(

By "could run ACIII," do you mean "will the game be playable at least one or more of the settings available?" Or do you mean "can I run this on ultra at 1080p?" The answer to the first one is an obvious yes. The answer to the second one is completely unknown.

As far as the 7970m goes, Justin (justin@xoticpc) said that xotic got the shipment from sager this morning (or late yesterday night... whatever). Read the "update on 7970m" thread for more details...

If Xbox and ps3 can run the game, then rest assured the 7970m can run it on ultra/high 1080p.

Also, Xotic will have *SAGER* start shipping their 7970m orders soon. They are already shipping mines either today or tomorrow and they said even new orders will start production by the next two weeks.

Absolutely! Another thing to consider when looking at benchmark sheets is that the 7970m is between the desktop 570 and the 580 (if I recall correctly), so you could always look at the numbers for those cards to get a rough estimate. (because, as you pointed out, notebookcheck doesn't have everything, just most things.)

*insert something about spoiled new kids not having to wait for months..*

Right, so Xotic got their cards Yesterday or something, I assume that their going to roll up their sleeves and get cracking at those new cards.
On the ‘Update on the 7970m’ forum Justin@Xotic said that they are going to get all of their back orders SHIPPED within the next two weeks. (I assume that means out of the warehouse)
Does anyone have an estimate to people who orders in late May/Early June?
My Card wasn’t charged because the sales rep from Xotic that I was chatting with said that they were not allowed to charge cards that had ordered the 7970m until they came in stock. That conversation was May 31st
I’m not asking about how long it would take to ship. I’m from Canada and even though I ordered UPS express I’m prepared to wait over a week for shipping.
What I’m trying to ask is for the more recent orders, like late May and early June, when those late bloomers can expect their orders to be put into production, and assuming a 7 business day production time, when they can expect their orders to be shipped.
I’m assuming it’s gonna be at least late June until my laptop comes into order. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks In Advance for everyone's help! :D

I ordered May 15th directly from Sager's website and my order is finally getting shipped tonight or tomorrow (haven't got an email for tracking #). Some people say Sager does their reseller's orders first before their own, but that wasn't the case for me thank God. Once they've charged your credit card, that means your laptop is being built and almost ready for shipping.

I would stick with xoticpc or other resellers though, Sager's customer support isn't that good.

What we're shooting for is getting all the previous orders that have been waiting out in the next 3-7 business days and all recent orders shipped out in 7-12 business days.

If you're opening up your power supply you have a lot more to worry about than getting busted at an airport.

    All correct.

No there aren't, that was only for the P170HM and it had to do with the 3D.

First ones will go to orders that were allocated cards but then the cards had to be sent back which were roughly 3 weeks ago. From there they'll go to orders in the order they were placed. Rest assured Sager will get through the builds as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

Placed my order on Friday (6/8) with XoticPC and got a message from them today (6/13) that my 7970M came in and the build is ready to start. I was expecting a longer wait, but am pleasantly surprised! :D

Anyboy have any reccomendations for RAM on this unit? I chose the downgraded 8GB 1333MHz option to save a few bucks and keep the build in my budget, but will probably upgrade to 16GB 1600MHz once I have some spare cash.

It sure is one brick! I used to use a smaller power pack for charging my last ASUS but then I realised it was extra excersize so crammed in 2 extra batteries and the normal PSU lol!

Just in case anyone is interested. The laptop fits into 15.4" Swiss gear bags but very snugly. Very nice bags too.

By the way, does anyone know how many Hz the Matte screen is, and does the amount of Hz that affect maximum frame rates? Would i be able to perceive a difference between 60 and 150 FPS?
    What is Hz anyway?
    What do they mean?
What is the meaning of life? (optional)
