There is no gaming laptop with amazing battery life, especially when gaming. Fan noise shouldn't even be that loud to disturb someone in a library. I'm going to be using my np9150 (when I finally get it after waiting a month, ordered may 15) in my classes and fan noise shouldn't be a problem if you're only running powerpoint/word, web browsing... etc...

That is actually windows 7 hybrid sleep. Sleep converts into hibernate mode after a period of time (it is 360 minutes by default). This can be adjusted in the power settings. Personally I love it, if you sleep it for a short amount of time it comes back up very quick, but if you leave it for several hours+ it will switch to hibernate (zero battery power used).

Works fine for me! Only using it to log into windows. Also dig the keepsafe utility. Not sure if its as secure as truecrypt...but kinda nice that its fingerprint protected.

I would love it, except it's just shutting down and not hibernating, so I lose all my open windows. Fortunately I'm the type that saves every 15 mins but it's still annoying.

I want to travel within EU borders on a plane and I was wondering whether they will let me board on plane with power brick of Clevo P150EM?

    Cheers

Fingerprint scanner works great! One of the best I've used. It's very quick to read and apply the certificates or passwords. I don't enjoy the stock software that comes with it and most likely will just buy the protector suite software for the $20. The upgraded software you can do a ton more with.

Why would it matter the size of the power brick you are using? It goes through the X-ray machine and your fine. Even though it might draw more power then the plug supplies. My jeep only has a 150w plug in it. I doubt the airline ac plugs are 180w+ and I really doubt the dc ones are higher then 120w+.

Once you know how to swipe your finger enrolling doesn't take long. It will do 5-15 scans depending on quality of your swipes to make sure your one access swipe matches the ones on file. Start at the bottom of your first knuckle and swipe from bottom to the tip of your finger you are enrolling.

You can open programs sign into web sites log onto windows and do a variety of other commands with just a swipe of any finger you enroll.

    Hey guys,

I'll be getting my NP9150 on Tuesday and want to order a sleeve. I'd like a simple one that just holds the laptop itself (I have a backpack that'll hold the power block, etc.) I've been looking at a Case Logic one, but it's a close fit in terms of the thickness.

What are people using for sleeves?

Amazon.com: Incase 17-Inch Neoprene Sleeve: Computers & Accessories

On sale for $20; has a nice soft cushiony interior and holds the P150EM ; I checked the dimensions and it holds it with a little room to spare.

Have to get the 17" version though :p

I have to wait 1.5-2 more weeks for my P150EM I'm very sad. I have to get a root canal next week and was hoping I could play games on the new lappy but it's looking like it will take longer -_-

Hello gentlemen! I think I've finally decided to order a 9150 with the 7970m, but I have one question left:

I can squeeze one more upgrade into my budget after getting an OS, 7970m upgrade, and downgrading my RAM. I'll be using this at school, playing the occasional game (but I'm a nerd and like to play as much as I can on ultra, hence the gpu  ), I'll be on wifi a lot, and the surrounding lighting will probably be at least semi-bright.

Therefore, the "best" upgrade to make in your opinion. Would it be:
-matte display for the potentially bright surroundings
-thermal paste for the lower temps/lower fan RPM
    -larger HDD for moar stuffs
-faster 8gb of RAM for.. I don't know, actually. why would one need faster RAM?
-WiFi card for better reception. (would that affect my battery?)

I appreciate your insight (and the logic behind your decision)!

Well everything you listed can be done on your own at later time. However from what you've stated, you'll probably benefit the most from upgrading your wifi card to a 6300 for the extra range.

I'd say the thermal paste, matte display, wifi, memory, larger hd in that order. The display you really don't want to change youurself later and will allow you to use the laptop in brighter places without turning the laptop into an expensive mirror... but everything else you can easily get of the net and add yourself. With the memory I'd use larger sticks so you can expand later if you want (16=2x8gb sticks instead of 4x4gb sticks) the faster memory will give you a slight advantage but will probably almost un-noticable unless your doing long complex graphics renderings or complex tasks.

Really winds me up that better thermal paste is an option... it's just a way of money grabing and the extra amount paid for the tiny amount used is rediculous. Given the cost of the laptop it should be free/standard not an option! My supplier just puts it on Arctic Silver 5 at no extra charge/no option! He said if you were at an a' la carte would you want tomato sauce all over your £50 steak... I almost said yes but bit my lip... I get his point though!

Only thing with the 6300 and the Atheros killer card is that you loose onboard bluetooth 4 which I use for my bluetooth mouse and quick file transfer from my phone. I went for the 6235 for faster data transfer as I will get use out of that transfering data off my home LAN and can keep the bluetooth.

Hi guys I ordered a Sager NP9150 from Xotic, great service btw. Only took about 4 days to recieve. I ordered the laptop without an OS so I had to install one and then install the drivers from the disc they send you. Once I installed everything, mostly everything ran perfectly. I noticed some framerate issues when I played Psychonauts. Then when I tried to play Battlefield 3, it was unplayable. I then downloaded FRAPS and my framerate on BF3 was 9-10 on medium and high. Even on Low I only achieved a 17-19 framerate. Here are my specs:

    Sager NP9150
    -Processor Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP) (SKU – S2R174)
    -Graphics Video Card nVidia GeForce GTX 675M 2,048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    -Ram 12GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory

I went on Nvidia's website but the GTX 675 has no drivers. What do I do, any suggestions? I could really use some help.

I'm actually more pissed about not having games for 2 weeks than the root canal. -_-. I have D3 and BF3 just waiting for me and no computer except a 8 year old laptop that struggles to run google chrome. Haha.

Ah, so the LP156WF1 if notebookcheck.net has it right. Are you able to tell which of the many variants at laptopscreen.com it is? From what I understand they're all the same panel but with possible minor differences :S

Also does anybody have last year's matte on hand to do a comparison?

Now if only intel would release a 6335 with 6300 wifi capabilities and bluetooth 4.0. In that case, upgrade the screen?

The 95% matte option on the 15.6" is the V.4 which is supposedly pretty awesome.

Also the construction is plastic; but with a rubberized finish. Last years HM models had a plastic finish; they went with a rubberized one for the P150/170 EM's this year's model

Actually, my HM has a metal finish and feel both on the palm rest areas below keyboard and it's exactly the same material on the top cover. It has smudge fingerprint appeal but it is cool to the touch :)

Reminder about the finishes, based on what I've read here over the last couple of months:

The 170HM and EM models had a mix of plastic and metal for their chassis.

The 150HM and EM have a rubberized plastic finish.

The 151HM1 and 151EM1 have a plastic finish.

Two things come to mind. Perhaps the games are running off of the Intel HD instead of the 675? If you go into the nVidia control panel, you can force the 675 to be the card to be utilized for games. My other thought was were you trying to play on battery power? If so, that would be the issue.

Can anyone verify that there's 2 different models, one for Nvidia graphics cards and another for AMD? I have yet to see any solid documentation to clarify if a P150EM can use both video cards without some form of bios changes or hardware differences.

This was the case with the discounted HM series, as for the P150EM this isn't the case as several people have been using the 675M before the release of the 7970M which they then later switched to.

I was having huge frame rate issues with D3 (around 8-10) and it turns out that playing while not plugged in was the issue. Once I plugged it in my FPS went back to 100 or so.
