    Hey Guys,

W+E+Space does NOT work with either the SS keyboard OR the standard keyboard. It does work with the non-backlit chiclet style keyboard, however on that one Q+E+Space doesn't work on the non-backlit so it just depends on exactly how the control circuits of the keyboard are layed out. Also there are combos of J+K+L+Space that don't work also.

    thanks

    That keyboard thing...really disappointing.

Then again, my keyboard doesn't allow for ctrl+f....so i've had to deal with that.

meh, usually play SC2, so shouldn't be a problem. Either way, got an external keyboard that has anti-ghosting, so should be fine.

Wow that is really disappointing. Guess I need to cancel that order with you guys for the SS keyboard. Is the non-backlit chiclet keyboard an option on the 9150? Would it fit? What computer is this one from?

By the way i would like to add, I use remote desktop all the time and there is no way to do CTRL-ALT-END (which is ctrl-alt-delete) on the remote session presumably due to the ghosting. So this KB is really a pain.

    Thanks a ton; +REP!

I'm glad I don't play any games that use W+E+Space or JKL Space.

I assign E to forward right [diagonal] and the opposite to Q. and don't play MMO's so I should be fine. :D

    Thanks a ton man

This was a P150EM that we did this test on. You won't be able to fit a chiclet non-backlit keyboard into this, it just won't fit. Also I just did CTRL+ALT+END and it worked just fine, you have to hold down the FN key too to get the END key to work :) But I just tested it within a RDP session worked just fine.

ahhh, you gotta use the PgDn / End Key. Not the other 1-N Key.

So TFGH may work instead of WASD... as much as this is going to suck, im giving it a shot.

    About ghosting:

-I find this a surprising issue on a gaming laptop...
-What about combinations of W+E+R+D, which I happen to use instead of WASD in many FPSes?

You would still be using W and E, which when combined with space are the problematic keys.

so i couple of weeks ago i t tried e-s-d-f as a suggestion because it gave you access to more keys... couldn't get used to it now i am using tfgh and forced to. I can report that TFGH is our only option but it is an option. It seems the real inconvenient key is the E key.

I still have this F1 key that is totally off my keyboard at this point. Does that require a complete keyboard replacement or what? How would XOTIC PC handle that? Sending this thing back is not something I want to do.

Hi guys, i've been searching the web like crazy but i haven't came to a conclusion yet. I'm about to buy this laptop with the HD7970m, the only thing that is stopping me atm is that i'm not sure it will perform 120hz with an external monitor, like the BenQ XL2420T or the Samsung 2233rz. I don't care about the 3D experience (with glasses and stuff), my main target is the 2D 120hz. I've been playing the last several years with my CRT attached to my old desktop or laptop, but i remember once i tried to connect a samsung 2233rz to my laptop and it didnt give me more than 60hz, i think this happens because DVI link on my laptop is Single instead of Dual. I've been searching about clevo's dvi port but on some websites it says that it is single, on other that its dual, so im just very confused.. I'm quite in a hurry to buy a new PC because I need to work in 3D modeling and my desktop kinda died recently.

    Thanks for your help!

From what I've been reading the maximum resolution you can get with the hdmi port @ 120hz is 720p.. obviously that its not horrible, but kinda senseless when you can have 1920*1080 :/. Basically I wanted to know if that the DVI port in P150EM works @ 120hz, since there are some monitors that are 120hz and only support DVI (like the samsung 2233rz).

Just got mine yesterday (with the 7970) -everything's working great, EXCEPT

The internet connection is slow as hell. I got the default Realtek card, not thinking it would make a difference, and it seems it may be. Still, things are far faster on my old HP laptop, which also has a default Realtek card. Anyone have this same problem / any good solutions?

Oh, and there's this annoying-as-hell padlock icon that flashes on the screen every time I press caps lock or num lock. I can get rid of it by disabling Hotkey altogether, but does anyone know if there's any other way?

So does the Ghosting occur on all P150EMs from the various resellers?

Yes its the ghosting keyboard. here is the problem, you cant press 3 keys simultaneously, e.g. W+E+SPACE.... which is kind of a problem. Some users are suggesting though that the problem is only with the W and E key pressed together... but i dont know exactly.

Just to be sure, you do have a 9150/P150 with the Intel HM77 chipset right?

If you do, all you need is the Intel motherboard chipset drivers. USB 3.0 is integrated into the chipset, and does not have a separate controller. If you're still having this issue, call your resellers tech support.

If the laptop has Dual Link DVI that will work for 1080p 120Hz, or you can use the Display Port port which will support 1080P @ 120Hz, but you may need an (expensive) adapter to convert it to dual link DVI.

Yep. Still not going well. XoticPC rep sent me a link to download the driver from Sager, which he thought might make a difference over the one that came on the driver disc. Waiting for that to finish downloading now.

I can't believe the ghosting keyboard problem wasn't recognized by Clevo in the first place. A gaming notebook where frequent combination of keys doesn't work is a huge deal breaker. I would be extremely pissed off too if I were to play games that use those key combinations only to find out that they don't work.

HDMI is capable of 1080p@120Hz, and your Sager is capable of that output. However, there are VERY few monitors that support this via HDMI because they are using HDMI 1.1 interface. Your DVI output IS NOT capable of this because it is only single link. Odds are you're going to have to use your Display port, and purchase the necessary adapters. Unless, of course, you can find a monitor that supports HDMI 1.4.

People have to understand that Ghosting happens in most keyboards, for example im using Logitech's g15 at the moment and i can't press "z+x+c" OR "y+i+o" and there are a lot more combinations but the unfortunate part is that in these keyboards it's W+E+Space which is plain bad luck .

    Try it yourself
Keyboard Ghosting Demonstration test your own keyboard and you'll know.

I would also love to know if we can output dual screen for example using HDMI+DVI port on the NP1950.

The video card is a Dual Head adapter so the only way it can output more than a single screen is if you're using the display port adapter, but this isn't ideal because it is treating it as 1 monitor. It's basically an Eyefinity type of display with a longer resolution. AKA 3960 x 1080p.

I got my 150em with 7970m and ivy bridge tuesday from powernotebooks, ordered on the 29th of april.

I'm not on the computer right now but i ran some benchmarks, 3dmark 2011 gave me 5900. On the Battery life side of things, i'm able to run diablo 3 for about 90 minutes running off the 7970m at max all settings 1080p before the battery get's drained.

I've had one blue screen since Tuesday caused by amd drivers, and the drivers have been pretty terrible at detecting games and switching automatically (i had to manually set diablo 3 and a few other games to use the 7970m) But other then this has performed fantastically.

Laptop is slightly loud but not too bad (and completely drowned out by a nyc air conditioner) Resting on my lap get's a little bit hot, but even running diablo 3 for a few hours it never got so bad i couldn't rest it on my lap. I got the default screen which looks fantastic, and has an incredibly wide viewing angle. Customizing backlit keyboard as well as the clevo interface is a breeze.

The touchpad is kind of meh out of the box, had to install some custom software to enable basic functionality like two finger middle click and smoother scrolling but now seems to be working great.

Overall very happy with the laptop, very glad i waited for the 7970m. If anyone has any tests or questions i'd be happy to answer later tonight when i get home.

I ordered from xotic with the 670M and this keyboard ghosting thing has got me thinking about changing my order to a NP9130 as the only reason I upgraded was for the backlit keyboard. My order is currently in phase 2 so I assume I could call them and change it. Am I freaking for nothing over this? Anyone care to talk me out of doing this?

Are you ordering from Eurocom? I also got informed about faulty 7970m cards and I was in the first batch not the second.

I don't know how they got faulty cards and no other re-sellers did in the first batch.

I'm extremely frustrated, I don't want to wait another 2-3 weeks.... I start a new job in 5 weeks and wanted to enjoy my laptop before I started working 40-50 hour weeks constantly....

I don't know what I'm going to do.

I might just buy a 110ER for mobile gaming and rebuild my desktop for gaming at home...

    Grrr....

I can confirm when i get home, but the drivers i'm using are the ones included with the clevo CD that came with the laptop. i believe they are 12.4

That said, i've played about 10 hours of diablo 3 and that was the only error i've had.

Fixed the network issues - if anyone else is getting really slow wireless connections, try downloading the Realtek driver straight from Sager. I'm not sure exactly which one to pick on the site - customer support at Xotic gave me a link.

Also - is anyone else noticing serious blue artifacts on their external monitor?

I've heard that those combos work fine AwakeN just the W+E + space and W+Q + space are the issues from what I've heard.

I'm considering downgrading to the GTX 670M because it can run Diablo 3 on Ultra just fine and BF3 on High just fine.

It will get me a $200 refund from the 7970m from Eurocom. They said it could take 3-4 more weeks to get the 7970m.... If I get $200 back and a 670M i will save that $200 and next year put down another $300 and get whatever the best is next year so that I can play on Unreal Engine 4 when its out in late 2013 or early 2014.

I don't exactly need the power of the 7970m right now so I think this might be a good idea and I can bring it into RJ Tech or Prostar near my house and have them install a new card for me [at a cost I'm sure probably 50-100 for install] but I dont trust myself with it :p. Hopefully 8970m comes out next year and is 40% better than 7970m haha. That would be crazy awesome and only cost me an additional $300 on top of the $200 I'll save.

Hopefully this works out because I dont want to wait another month and the 670m would be powerful enough to last me 1 year at least and I'm starting a job that pays higher than my current one so next year a few hundred on an upgrade won't bother as much...

Sad but at least it should give me more room to upgrade next year...

I really just want D3 and BF3, they will last me at least 6 months. Then Dishonored and a few other games on top of those :p Which will still run on high settings 1080p with a 670m most likely.

The difference from the 670m to the 675m is supposed to be around 20% but in BF3 the FPS diff is only from 54 down to 45. Which is almost unnoticeable.

And probably similar in D3. In skyrim it does go from 40 down to 33 though which is a minor problem but I don't play it much anymore; and I can OC the 670m a good 15% if I really need to as I only plan on using it for 1 year.

What do you guys think? Decent plan?

Got a refund for my order. Not happy with Xotic delaying me even though I ordered it around the same time as the others who got it but other people after me got it. The money was cleared and fine but xotic wasn't fast in answering any of my emails so I just decided to cancel. Will pickup the laptop in the summer with another reseller or just pick up an alienware as they have some pedigree and I haven't heard of any ghosting issues.

You can't blame XoticPC for your delayed product. They're in the same boat as everyone else.

Wasn't fast in answering your emails? They have hundreds of customers asking them where their computers are and they weren't fast enough for you? Pick up the phone man!

According to Sager's rules you can't get in a preorder line until they have payment, so paying XoticPC ahead of time only made things go faster for you.

If you want to blame someone for your delay, go to Global Foundries and tell them to work double shifts.

Fixed the issue I mentioned about artifacts - it was just a bad DVI cable, so hopefully nobody gets scared off from buying from that problem.

How do you know if the dedicated GPU is working? I'm assuming nobody has yet found a way to disable Enduro and just have it go all the time.

I believe its TSMC making the 7970m's, not GloFo.

Does anyone know how far you can safely OC the GTX 675m? [like it doesn't go above 75C in gaming while OC'd]

    ??

Im in the same boat as micahmatthew. Im really wanting to get the laptop before halfway into June with the 7970m. Is this in any way possible with the glitch that has occured? Also, should I downgrade to 675m so that I will get my pc faster? The games I would be playing are Diablo 3, Skyrim, and BF3. Is it really worth the wait?

It really is sad; I ordered this laptop May 1, and they lagged this hard on me. Other people that ordered from other resellers are already getting their machines with 7970m.... Extremely angry about this. It's the one big purchase I'm making for the next 2 years and I'm getting hassled like this. -_-

The GTX 675m will run all of them fine, only High settings on BF3 though. But I am trying to see if I can OC the GTX 675m a good 15% that would help a lot. I can just sell the 675m next year for half of what it currently costs and get the 8970m AMD card next year hopefully haha.

Just be careful to properly cool your laptop.

Oh sure, 1080p is low res.

1- well, sort of. AW does this too, but aftermarket upgrades are harder to install.
2- that depends on your definition of style. I personally think the P150EM looks very good.
    3- currently, yes.

95% won't help with gaming, sorry. The stock screen is still very good, you only need the upgrade if you're doing photo editing or something that requires precise colors.

Hogwash. Eyes don't even see in FPS.

The words "minor issues" and "emergency meetings" do not belong that close together.

The 3rd antenna is always there, even if you get the stock card.

Tell me about it. I can stream music from youtube only at night when everyone else in my neighborhood is asleep, otherwise it hangs occasionally. There's a good reason why I don't trust cloud computing...

I can't believe this wasn't caught earlier, Mythlogic uses BF3 to test their laptops and they should have run into this...

Then maybe you can explain why I've had to wait this long for my 675m...
That's impossible because haswell moves the voltage regulators to the CPU die. The mobo would have to be completely different to support that.

Sorry, there's no way you'll be able to get the 7970m in anything not resembling an eternity if you haven't ordered yet. You'll just have to man up and go for a month or two without a computer if you want it.

Annoying padlock is part of win7, no way to get rid of it as far as I know.

No, he was asking if it had dual link, not how to transmit 120Hz.

How many FPS is D3 giving you on battery?
External temps is a terrible way to measure heat. Get it off your lap or be prepared for meltdown...

That's no reason to bail... This is release month, what did you expect?

Well, I hate to be Mr. Bomb Dropper, but we could have a mass recall on our hands.

At least we have an alternative (675m), so it's not as bad as SB, but people are still jumping ship on AMD in droves.

Perhaps you can just do a multi-quote reply for all 131 pages of this thread in your next post......

Sorry, my time zone is a bit strange and I don't get here as often as I would like to.

Other news: my P150EM is done being built and has gone on to testing! Boy, that was prompt, considering as they just started around 2:30 their time. I wonder how this affects my delivery timeframe, when they gave it to me I assumed it was going to take 3 days to build... I know there's still no way I can get it before tuesday but if that actually happened (which would involve getting it shipped monday and arriving the same day) that would be beyond fabulous.
