Can any resellers comment on the keyboard ghosting issue? That is definitely a big problem.

I am seriously bugging about the ghosting. That is extremely weak. How has nobody noticed this? You can't push the w key, the e key, and space bar at the same time. Doesn't work.

Has anyone tracked the best price and discounts for a P150 yet in the UK/UK Delivery with the 7970m?

If anyone could post up their best prices or PM me, I would be hugely grateful.

It has to be a defective keyboard. My $20 external Microsoft keyboard allows for several keys to be pressed at the same time. My 5 year old entry level laptop allows for several keys to be pressed at the same time. There is no way a near 2 grand gaming laptop in 2012 doesn't allow for several keys to be pressed at the same time, unless it's malfunctioning.

I really wish I could get the 7970M. It's just I need something that is "more" reliable in terms of power saving. I need Optimus for college and I didn't want to take a risk with Enduro in case it sucked or something.

Just ordrered this chiclet keyboard from Mythlogic. Hopefully this fixes the ghosting on the oem. This keyboard really is crap. My F1 key is already falling off and I got this thing yesterday and I don't think I ever pushed it. Lots of missed key strokes on it also.

Interesting how the hybrid drive uses a bit more at idle but one watt less when active. Still probably goin to have a hard time justifying an extra $60 for only 4 GB of SSD.

I'd guess the extra power in idle is to maintain the SSD power circuit aswell as the HDD power.
The active figure is probably because data retreaved from the SSD side of the hybrid requires less energy than seeking from the HDD side of the hybrid. I'd guess that some averaging of figures was carried out to get this result.

thedanks; I haven't heard anyone else complain about the keyboard. I think maybe you should contact Mythlogic and have them repair it for you [replace it] as everyone else seems to use theirs just fine...

I spoke with a mythlogic rep right now online and they said they actually have been getting some reports of keyboard errors.

If mine has these errors I'm going to be SO EXTREMELY ANGRY.

I'm spending nearly $2000 for a state of the art laptop; if the keyboard doesn't work perfectly then this is a freaking waste and I'm sending it back and getting my money back. I really hope that mine is not one of the faulty ones.... Hopefully they just messed up a few batches during manufacturing [still isn't good but better than if it was all of them].

Hopefully mine is just fine; it will be the first thing I test, even before the 7970m :p

We test every keyboard before it leaves, and we've cycled out a few keyboards from bad / uneven backlighting and a couple had busted keys, its the scissor hinge design on these. And we of course have no problem swapping out a keyboard under warranty if it breaks. We do hand test everyone before they go out, however we can't type for you ;)

Been using mine for a couple days now. A couple early impressions:

    - Keyboard is excellent, best Clevo has put out yet. I was one of the few who didn't care about the backlight, but it's an added bonus. Although the backlight software isn't as pretty as AW's, it gets the job done.
    - Laptop is a bit slimmer than my p150hm, about the same weight
    - Installing an msata ssd is relatively easy although I needed the strength of 10 tigers to unscrew the fastener stand
    - 7970m is amazing. I'm stupified at having the power of a GTX 580 in a 15" laptop
    - Small gripe, I'm not sure I like the smaller "Sager" logo. Think I preferred the logo that was on my p150hm and x7200 better.

so harmattan your's is working wonderfully!? This gives me hope! I ordered the same build as you but with only 8 GB of RAM [I've never used more than 6 even multi tasking like crazy; and can always upgrade to 16 if I really need to].

How is the 7970m? Have you played BF3/Diablo 3/Skyrim on it? Do they max out and run smoothly with this setup? From what I hear they do quite well but its better to hear from a real person :p

Congrats on having your beastly laptop!

So... I just got off the phone with Alan, the senior tech at Sager and the response was that this is a limitation of the keyboard. It is a problem on ALL of the NP9150's. I told him I wanted him to send me a keyboard that functioned. We discussed the keyboard from the 8150 that was not backlit. He said he was going to do some research and testing to see if it fit and worked. But he expressed concern that the manufacturer (Clevo) would not authorize the 8150 keyboard in the 9150. This is ridiculous and I am furious at all parties involved. By the way, I purchased from XOTIC but I ordered the chiclet keyboard today from Mythlogic. I'm just bitter they put out a product with this problem and label it a gaming computer. Unfortunately it looks like they can get away with this type of crap because some don't notice it but for those that play standard MMO's like WoW or SWTOR and need to run and jump at the same time this is terribly poor.

did you see the above post about harmattan loving the keyboard?? I seriously doubt they would make a gaming laptop and limit them to not being able to hit multiple keys at once....? Seems like harmattan hasn't noticed?

Harmattan are you able to press multiple buttons at the same time and not have issues?

Wow... I was going to order Clevo P150EM from MySN.de (Schenker XMG P502 pro) but if this is true and there is no way to fix it, it's going to be a deal breaker for me.

I hope that they will fix this, I really wanted AMD Radeon 7970M but I quess that I have to buy Asus G55 then.

The problem is not just multiple buttons... It is certain multiple buttons. I can push 5 keys at once and have them all register. But certain combinations of 3 keys is the problem. If he trys W + E + Spacebar, the spacebar will not register. Here is an easy web demo to see if you have the problem. The applet will show the spacebar not registering on the 9150. Microsoft Keyboard Ghosting Test The jig is up. Unfortunately, this is not the gaming notebook you were looking for and there is no fix besides a different keyboard. These are not problems that can be fixed by an update. The only thing that can fix this is a different keyboard.

Why would you need W + E + Spacebar? Isn't E forward right [diagonal right]. Why would you also need forward at the same time?? Serious question. As I never play that way and just use the E + Spacebar because W isn't needed.

W is Forward, E is Strafe Right. Together = Makes you run diagonal, then when you want to jump with space bar is where the problem lies. Its a major issue.

Strafe right should be D? E is usually diagonal in newer games; or at least I always set mine up that way... What game are you playing that has it set up that way? E is diagonal right for me and Q is diagonal left, right is D, left is A, backwards is S, forwards is W. That's how every game I play is at least; and if its not I set it that way...

This still is a major fail but you could reconfigure your key bindings. I don't know why you wouldn't just set it up that way ^^^

In MMO's, A is turn left, D is turn right. Its that way World Of Warcraft is and Star Wars the Old Republic. Just the way they are. Having to rebind the keys is ridiculous and I tried it just for the heck of it and it feels completely unnatural.

I was reading the Sager 8150 owner's lounge thread and some people reported having 'ghosting' issues there as well. It seems they've been designing the keyboards like this for awhile.

But anyways will the chiclet keyboards from Mythlogic fix this? I might change my order :p

Oh it's for MMO's. Well then this isn't a huge issue for me. I NEVER play MMO's. They are extremely boring to me; just not my bag of chips.

I play Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, and plan on getting Witcher 2, Dota 2, Darksiders 2.

Oh and Dishonored, oh that game looks awesome.

I hope that the problems aren't a big deal to me; they shouldn't be as I usually remap to use 1 key instead of 2 anyways; using 2 keys when I could be using 1 seems unnatural to me.

We'll test this out this evening, we have a bunch of backlit keyboards that we can test out to see if its all or just one or two.

using the MS Ghosting test above.

Well just got the notice that my order is part of the 2nd batch of the AMD 7970m cards which are unfortunately defective. Grrr. Estimated delivery of AMD cards to XoticPC is June 11th!

I ordered on May 5th, placed into phase 2 on May 16th.

Not sure if I'm going to keep this order now. Getting tired of the wait to be honest.

To give you a comparison I ordered from xotic the same day as you and got the 675m and got mine yesterday.

If you could test with both keyboards, the chiclet and the standard that would be hugely appreciated. Looking forward to hearing the result. But not optimistic about the standard since Sager admitted it was a limitation of the keyboard.

Well the two 15 inchers in my signature, the previous flagship 15's did not have this problem. Curious to know if the anyone has the 8150 and has this problem because I am trying to get Sager to send me one of those keyboards.

The 675m is readily available because it is old tech; its the same as the 580m from last year so it wasn't in high demand.

The 7970m's are out of stock in many places and are in backorder.

The 2nd shipment of the 7970ms from Clevo to Sager which then sells them to Xotic PC, Malibal, Etc. are delayed because the cards in the order batch were having issues.

That's why his order is pushed back

I ordered May 1, and am in the first batch of the 7970m's at Eurocom so the manager told me I should get mine by this Friday; but I'm guessing next Tuesday at the latest.

Really hyped to test out the capabilities of this beastly graphics card mixed with a 3.3Ghz quad core 3610 :)

I hope that the next "tock" from Intel will fit in these same sockets and that the next gen graphics cards [in 2 years] will fit in the MXM B socket that these all fit in.

Trust me when I say, unless they got some magic larger keyboards, the 8150 keyboard will electrically fit into the ribbon cable and work, but its smaller than the new backlit so it won't "fit" into the same hole :)

And yes we will try the SS and the Clevo backlit tonight.

    thanks

Really mad with xotic pc delaying and not responding to my questions about the keyboard. Anyone recommend alienware or another sager reseller.

Also anyone want to explain to me the keyboard problem and if every sager laptop has it including the np9170. I will probably play bf3, skyrim, diablo 3

How easy is it to upgrade the ram on the np9150? Can we get to all the memory slot from the back compartment? Or do we need to remove the keyboard to acces additional ram slots?

You can access the RAM just by removing the bottom panel there are like 6 screws in it and then they are readily available it's really easy you can upgrade your RAM in less than 10 minutes with almost no technical knowledge.

Since both the Sager NP9170 and Sager NP9150 use the same keyboard the issue will be there.

The problem is if the keys are on the same membrane they will only recognize on/off and won't recognize multiple key presses. That is why for example W+E will produce this ghosting result.

The Ghosting only happens with W+E + Spacebar according to the poster that brought it up.

It seems to only happen with 3 key combinations. Mythlogic said they will test it tonight and let us know tomorrow. So hopefully they get some results for us.

Allright!!! I changed the ODD and put in the caddy with the cdroms faceplate. I killed the cdrom thoug since it basically disassembled when i took the faceplate off, but it doesnt matter i bought an external cdrom anyway.

It is way harder than it looks took me about 45 minutes...
