Depends on AA type. But yes, it will be close to that, since 675m is powerful enough to run D3 at max.

Hey all, im another newb to the forums lol.
Anyway, does anyone know if the NP9150 will even support the GTX 680M thats going to come out soon? Otherwise i may just put the order in for the 7970m right now.
    Thanks!

Why wouldn't it. The whole point of it being made is so it can be used in high end laptops.

I can lightly say that the NP9150/P150EM indeed is a high end GAMING laptop to say the least :D It will work, if not well... there's no if :p impossible

Oh, it's already assembled? That speeds things up then :)
Do you know where you are in the line for 7970m's?

Awesome! Now i am probably going to go to a million sites to find specs on the GTX 680M, only to be trolled forever. :D

Another question, there is an option to get the stealth black cover for the laptop as well. Is it removable, and will it affect how fast the laptop will heat up as well?

Also, if i decided to not order an OS, how do i put drivers for graphic cards and the black lit keyboard on the laptop after i install an OS?

    Thanks for all the help!

I'd like to know more about the stealth black cover also. Does anyone here have it? I've seen posts that of what it looks like, but I've yet to see a picture of it on the NP9150

Stealth black cover? I cannot follow... Are you referring to the NON-branded back cover? That's how I understand it :p

Or are you talking about the Alienware Stealth Black cover? Can't comment on that haha

    Also: @Dan1107
You install the OS, go online and find ALL the drivers you need (at that time, we'll probably have a thread online to link you to your drivers :))

I think he meant XoticPC's option to wrap the laptop in matte black or carbon fiber vinyls.
If that's what you meant Hunter, I personally wouldn't want to spend such money in wrapping it black (which it already is, just different texture, the stealth black feels sand-like). You don't actually pay for the vinyls (they costs like 20-40$), you pay for their skill and techniques, it's not easy 1. taking the laptops apart -especially the screen- 2. Wrapping it professionally -leaving no bad corners and air bubbles-.

Here's an example of HP Envy in carbon fiber

    XoticPC's wrap

How difficult is it to get to the fans in the P150EM? On my Dell M1710, to get to the fans to clean them, I have to remove the hinge, remove the LCD screen completely, remove the keyboard, remove the palmtop/top of the computer, and only then can I get to the fans to clean them (vacuum and air blow doesn't always get all of the collected dust bunnies out.)

In my OLD Dell XPS (which was about six inches thick, LOL!) I could pull the fans by removing a couple of screws, and I would pull them and clean the dust out about once every couple of months. Made a big difference in keeping the temps down.

Can anyone comment on how svelte the 9150 is? That's one of the main things holding me back from ordering it is the thickness and weight. Does it *feel* bulky and cumbersome or just solid? I had an old 17inch alienware 6 years ago that I hated because it was too much of a pain to carry around/get out.

Does that mean that the bottom of the laptop will be inaccessible because a skin was put on top. ( i would like to dust the fans out with a blowdryer perhaps) or does Xotic completely replace the skin for the laptops. leaving the bottom accessible to open or clean.

A guess by cover they meant a cover put ON TOP of the laptop, like a mac or iphone cover. (or that's what i assumed) But maybe they meant like wrapping it in cool gift paper that you cant take off.

How well does AMD's version of Optimus work with the 7970? I know AMD has been behind with that stuff in the past. I am mostly set on getting a W150ERQ but if the 7970m works really smooth with the enable/disable stuff I may just need to go this route. Going to cost quite a bit more money though..

Enduros (which i think is AMD's version of Optimus) looks pretty skimpy to me right now. From what i can tell. There aren't enough user reviews on the internet to make a proper decision. I guess only time will tell.
BTW I think this is NP9150 lounge, not another laptop lounge.

Yeah, I was saying I was mostly set on getting a different laptop (W150ERQ), unless the AMD switchable graphics on this one(P150EM) works really well.

BTW, I am using clevo model numbers. :)

Haha Clevo woops. Im just biding my time until there are enough reviews to make a proper decision. So many things have come out recently (Ivy Bridge and the 7970m recently) That i don't want to mess up making a decent gaming rig. And make it look ultra sexy with the stealth black skin that Xotic offers.

Anyway does anyone have an answer to my problem? Post #854

The only real information I have seen about Enduro is that it completely turns off the GPU, as opposed to Optimus which has the GPU still sipping on the battery life. But with AMD you never really know.

Omigosh that explains it perfectly. So they put a skin around the laptop to make it look cool. Yet leaves the bottom uncovered to keep airflow and open up the bottom? thats amazing!

Another question if you dont mind.
Will getting the 2720Qm as a processor be enough to handle the 7970m?

Don't be tempted by the $ (do understand that the less it costs the better for your pocket). We are already into the 3rd gen. of Intel CPU, you will probably want it because 1. Ivy Bridge intergrated GPU is much better than Sandy Bridge (so just in case you're mobile and can't plug) 2. Resale value for the later.
Performance wise, it will serve for a lot of years and for sure it's more than enough to feed the 7970m. I'm running on Core 2 Dou T5450 @ 1.6Ghz atm LOL while waiting for a Sager unit.

Sweet! Does that mean i can get an Ivy Bridge 3610QM and still get good performance from the laptop. I plan to use this for a least 3-4 years, so dont mind dropping too much money if i dont have to get a new laptop for a long time. And by the way, is the default 8GB ram also good enough to play modern games on medium settings? (i have never really been one for quality anyway.

The 3610 is faster than the 2720, and more efficient. Don't forget about the much better integrated graphics and higher resale value. Actually, even the 2630 is more than enough for gaming. It's much more dependent on the GPU and i7 processors will get the job done nicely. So, I'd recommend getting the 3610.
8GB of RAM is also more than enough for gaming too. Unless you need more, 8GB will be perfect. Only a couple games use 8GB of RAM for optimum performance (e.g. Train Simulator 2012). In addition, 1333MHz RAM is good enough for gaming too. You won't notice and difference between 1333 and 1600.
    Good luck!

Ram doesn't really affect games... You're good with 8GB for the next 5 years bro.
By the way I read your sig and noticed
    8GB 1600MHz | 80GB Intel 310 mSATA SSD
If you want to save money, drop the ram to 1333MHz (it doesn't affect your performance at all unless you plan to play games with the Intel GPU -heck no-). I assume you got yourself the mSATA SSD directly from reseller, you can opt that out and buy a faster after market one for better deal.
If you intend to use that Intel 80GB as cache with Intel SRT. That feature can only take 64GB or less drive, just letting you know.

Just purchased a gateway fx P7805u with a 9800m GTS off Craigslist for $80, it was missing a hard drive and I upgraded to windows 7. Total cost was just over $100 since I had a 320GB HD laying around.

I plan on RMAing my 9150 with sandy bridge and 675m for an ivy bridge and 7970m. Needed a laptop to hold me over while I wait for my new rig to be built and shipped while I am deployed

Anyone have experience with the RMA process with XoticPC?

For school I was told I need 8GB or RAM to run many VMs would I have much of a performance increase from 8, 12, 16 GB of RAM, this is the only thing I am unsure of to order my NP9150.

Has anyone gotten their P150EM with the 675m card yet?
    Eager to know first impressions.
Also curious about the upgrade of thermal paste, here in norway it cost 70$ extra. Is it worth it? Note: As i suspect this beast will run diablo without problems i will not overclock (for now)

Mine still hasn't shipped. I ordered a little more than 2 weeks ago from XoticPC. That thermal paste (good quality) will lower temps by about 5-10 degrees Celsius. It definitely does help. However, you can buy it for very cheap and apply it yourself or have someone do it for you. The problem is, if you apply it incorrectly, it can actually RAISE temperatures.

I've had my sandy bridge 675m for about 3 Weeks. Its been great, I've played mw3, dirt 3, and bf3 without any issues. Settings for bf3 are turned down a bit to run at higher gps. It is pretty quiet, I've used it for Web browsing at night while the wife was sleeping. Its hardly audible unless you are right on top of it.

I'm returning so I can get ivy bridge and 7970m. If your can afford the upgrade I would choose the 7970m.

Nice! This laptop just sounds better and better, and eventhough the 7970m is breaking my budget, the benches it produses is to hard to resist - Food is overrated anyway :p

Never changed thermal myself but im sure there are some good guides out there, how hard can it be

Any specific brand of paste i should look for?

Everyone recommends IC Diamond, but I have found Gelid GC Extreme to be the best for me. Even lower temps than IC Diamond and you get a relatively large tube of it.

For VM's you want as much as you can, go for at least 16GB, and even 24GB or 32GB would be nice. If it helps your budget you can go with 1333 ram, its WAY more important to have ENOUGH ram than to have FAST ram.

That would work, but remember you'd be cut down to 4GB for windows also. Ram is really cheap, definitely get at least 16GB.

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a np9150 with IB and the 7079m graphics card. The problem is I'm going out to school starting summer term and I'm leaving June 10th. Is it possible that I will be able to get this laptop before then? I haven't even ordered the computer yet, so I'll be at the end of the waiting list. :(

I ordered mine on May 5th, with a gtx 675m (with means to upgrade later on), and my order has just gone into processing ie. building. So I'm not looking to seeing it until the end of May.. Seeing as the 7970m do not come in until the end of May I'd say the last week, if you were to order now, maybe end of June - beginningof July you may see yours. Looking at the actual Sager site right now, there are some things in back order already which kinda shows how popular the model has become.

I think I'll wait closer to the 7970m launch before placing my order.

Also, the best time to buy a laptop intue US is back to school season.

Anyone from Xotic Pc know if there will be a back to school sale or special with your np150 notebook other than the student discount?
