There isn't much I can do. But I can try giving you some sense of credibility as the GPU isn't even officially out yet.

    7970m Benchmark (M17X) - Alienware Arena Forums
which links to AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M17xR3 score: P6847 3DMarks insane in my eyes :p

Then we have AMD Radeon HD 7970M Review and Specification

Yet another AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2720QM Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16F2 score: P20963 3DMarks

:) can't tell if legit, but it seems alright to me hehe

Don't worry, I don't disturb easily. I've been researching since pre-SB, though the 1st 3 months were more of a hobby.
I assume you have looked at the W110ER? It has an 11.6inch screen and a 650m, and supports ivy bridge quad cores.

Yeah i did look at that but i have a friend will an 11" laptop and i really dont like how small it is. I want something in the 13"-15.6" range because they are good sized but not too much of a pain to lug around. I also havent found vary many 13" that have a high end gpu in them.

Usually if you want a high end GPU [GTX 560 +] You will need a 15 inch laptop or greater.

Just pre-ordered a p9150 with an AMD 7970 and an i7 3920xm processor. Ended up buying form XoticPC. I cant wait to see the extreme in action, always wanted one, but could never justify the cost.

Hoping the fan noise level doesnt drive me crazy, I'm coming from a Sony 16.4" 115fm that sounds like a server half the time. And that's with just IE open, noise level drove me to buying an Asus G75 and I have been surprised with the low noise level with it and it stays fairly cool on the bottom. If Asus would have had a model with a 7970m I may have stuck with it, well that and the 17" is just a bit large for as much as I travel.

    _____________________________________________________________
    Pre-ordered: P150EM, i7-3920XM, 32GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, AMD 7970M, 95% Matte Screen, 750GB 7200RPM HD for OB/256GB Samsung 830 for primary

Hmm. So - if I wanted to configure a P150EM for fastest performance, would I be best served by leaving out the optical drive and putting a 750GB HD there, and using the primary/HD1 slot for the 240GB Intel SSD (can't afford a bigger SSD drive - can't really afford that one! LOL!)

You know you won't be able to OC it due to the locked BIOS, right? :nah:
Well, it's good to see someone who went all out with their order. Stick around to tell us what you think :)

Wait, you can use RAM for drive caching?

Buy a $200 256GB M4 from newegg and install it yourself, that will save ~$150.

This is probably a dumb question but how noticeable of a difference is there between the 1333mhz RAM and the 1600mhz version? I've done a bit of searching and everyone seems to disagree on how much effect it has.

For regular use and gaming, no effect, period. For gaming with integrated GPU, 10-15% improvement.

See my testing with the 6750m, not same GPU, but same thing applies. I tested with 1600MHz RAM, 1066RAM, and even a single stick of 4GB 1600MHz and results were same.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...amd-radeon-hd-6750m-benchmarking-results.html

    Look at top one green = DDR3 2x4GB 1600MHz
    bottom red = DDR3 2x2GB 1066MHz
    bottom blue = DDR3 1x4GB 1600MHz

wow 10-15% that a lot. I heard from other people that the difference are tiny and 1333ghz should be fine for most laptop.

I believe that 10-15% improvement is when you are using the integrated gpu, not the dedicated.

It depends on your application. But any program loaded onto the ram disk will run faster thanks off any current SATA III drive. You have to remember though that once the machine is switched off or re booted the information is lost.

I was trying to make a joke but the forum removed a non offensive word! I amended my last message!

Hey guys I am new to the forum, I've been looking at this model and my question is, what purpose does an mSata have? I see two options when ordering to have them preconfigured as Intel smart response or as an OS drive. Would anyone recommend this?

edit: Would you recommend this over just an SSD option?

If you need a lot of storage [500GB +] then its good to get a normal HDD at 500GB - 1TB whatever you need; and then use the mSata as a Cache drive or an OS drive.

Most choose the 750GB drives because they are 7200rpm... the 1TB tend to be 5400rpm. So people consider Sata II about the7200rpm speed... so technology has its limitations... for now that is...
Stated earlier msata and ODD is sata II although some do raid for main bay and ODD with the msata as the cache drive... which is pretty slick use of two mechanical drives...just another way to do it. also stated earlier intel smart response limit is 64GB and provides a similar performance boost as a hybrid drive...boosting mechanical drives...
    ...in a nutshell blah blah...

Speaking of mSATA...I just installed a kingston 64gb msata drive, but how do I know if it's set up for Drive-cache? Is there something specific I have to do now? Intel Storage Matrix recognized the drive and has installed the necessary drivers...any insight would be greatly appreciate :)

I am planning to order a NP9150/P150EM in the next couple weeks and have a few questions:

My first and only Sager was a 9860 (Clevo D900T) with a P4 3.2GHz and GeForce Go 6800, the big selling point was upgradability, but the mobile GPU form factor was immediately revised so I would have had to replace the entire platform to upgrade, which I never did. Was quite the disappointment for what I thought was a reasonably future-proof investment. I would imagine by now the form factor has stabilized but it is still a concern for me. When was the mobile GPU form factor last revised and what is the likelihood of it changing again anytime soon?

I have a 128GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD to install as an OS drive and I would throw the HDD in the optical bay, but the mSATA slot does intrigue me as I wouldn’t mind keeping the ODD installed, but being only SATA2 I don’t know if the mSATA would be a suitable replacement for a SATA3 SSD and probably not worth it to keep an internal ODD. Has anyone experimented with an mSATA vs SATA3 SSD?

How does the ODD and HDD caddy mount within the bay? Is it practical to swap between the two on a regular basis or even hotswap?

Is the mSATA slot usable as a second mini-PCIe slot for a mobile broadband adapter?

What are opinions on the case material mods from Xoticpc? Stock rubberized vs Flat Black Stealth vs Carbon Fiber?

How “corporate friendly” is a carbon fiber case? This will be both a gaming and work machine, I like the carbon fiber, but I don’t want it to scream “LOOK AT ME I ARE GAMING MACHINE!!!” from across a meeting room.

How scratch and scuff resistant is the Flat Black Stealth material versus other materials it may come in contact with like the corner of a cell phone or the metal tip of a USB drive or a keychain? Does the flat coating wear through over time like in the areas of frequent palm contact on either side of the trackpad?

I am an audiovisual and computer technician with an equipment rental company, so I do a lot of testing of various displays and I really like the video ports this model offers. I also occasionally need to do quick and dirty video or bloated powerpoint editing so a powerful machine would be helpful. I travel a lot so I find myself in many a motel room playing an MMO on a laptop. I currently have an ASUS N53SV-XV1 with a 540M which handled Star Trek Online decently enough, but I now play Star Wars: The Old Republic, which the 540M only kinda sorta handles decently in PvE, but I play PvP mostly in ToR and that’s just too demanding for it. I have never been a fan of AMD or the former ATI so regardless of how nice their new card is I will be going with nVidia, probably the 675M but I might consider a 680M if it shows up within a couple weeks.

Here is what I am looking at:

    Sager NP9150 / Clevo P150EM
Matte 95% gamut screen (will calibrate at work)
    i7-3610QM
    Diamond Thermal Compound
    nVidia GeForce GTX 675M
    8GB DDR3-1333 (already have a 2x4GB pair to add if I want)
    750GB 7200rpm SATA2 HDD in Caddy
128GB OCZ Vertex 4 SATA3 SSD (already own)
    Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1103
possible Carbon Fiber or Flat Black Stealth Modification

Guessing I should have went with the standard and saved $5-700 on the order. Wasn't really looking/thinking about overclocking the cpu to be honest. If there isnt going to be much gain in performance, I may have to reconsider since it's still in the order confirmation stage.

    Any other opinions?

I ordered battlefield 3 with my PC while I was at it. Anyone know what cards are like the 7970m. I know I bring this up a lot but just wondering if its like any of the 6000series desktop cards or the 7000 series desktop cards.
