kevin, sorry we're all bombarding you with questions but i have one too - is the finish on the laptop, like the stuff surrounding the keyboard a rough surface? it looks like if you ran your fingernail down it it would make a buzzing sound. sorry i couldnt phrase that better

This is my first post from my M860, and I'll say that the keys have a nice feel to them, and they're pretty much noiseless; the spacebar, however, does click when pressed; it's not bad, but in comparison to the silent keys, it's a stark contrast. I'm experiencing no lag during rapid keypresses, and there's no flex in the keyboard. Man this thing feels solid. I also have it sitting on my lap right now, and the bottom is cool to the touch. Now to your questions:

Will do. I'll take a few pics for you in a bit.

When I first turned it on, I didn't even realize there were buttons there! The buttons are flush with the trackpad, only separated by a silver bar, then separated from each other by the fingerprint reader; the amount of pressure needed isn't an annoyance, but it is a different feel for me to get used to.

No, it's not rough;it's a smooth surface with a textured finish, and your skin will feel no resistance when you slide across it.
Sure. I just got home to connect it to my network, so now I'll begin downloading the requisite software.

I don't mind questions at all guys and gals.

    1) None, thank God.
    2) It's warm. That's all. For me, I don't even consider it "warm", more like warmer than everywhere else. I have the 160/5400 hdd, btw.
    3) I haven't heard it yet. I'm downloading 3dmark06 right now, so we'll see what happens while that runs.

Two hours of Mass Effect; right palm rest is still barely warm, despite the temps.

Did/can you take the temps while Mass Effect is in Windowed mode?

It's got a min max feature, so he don`t need to play windowed dude.

77C is about what I get with 8800M GTX SLI, so it`s pretty good actually.
However, try Crysis or UT3 and max details and possible resolution...and then we`ll see :D

You have the Fujitsu hard drive and your right palm rest gets barely warm. Other people had the Seagate 320GB 7200RPM and were complaining about how the lower right hand side of the notebook gets noticeably hot. So what's the story here?

Well, if you're referring to Ad@m, that person's (singular) hard drive was making a beeping sound. As some mentioned on the forum, a bearing's probably loose. With recent reports of lower temperatures, it really does look like Ad@m's hard drive is defective.

Well... you HDD also gets quite high max temperatures (65ºC) and I'm unsure whether that is healthy.
    The GPU looks great though.
Another thing that worries me a bit... CPU temperatures. If I'm not mistaken, the ACPI area is somehow related with the CPU. It would be interesting to have someone doing some Prime95 CPU stress tests to see how the M860TU handles it. Pretty much, those temps are the same I was experiencing on my M15x's CPU during gameplay. While stressing the computer with Prime95, the CPU temperature would rise and the CPU eventually downclock. This would happen because the fan was not able to cool down the CPU properly.
So... tests would be really appreciated.

The GPU handles the temperature really well. The CPU is also OK. But the hard drive seems really hot but this doesn't surprise me when you look at the mobo temp. What's the verdict on the HDD temp?

I did some digging, and apparently the ACPI sensors are external (not embedded in other components) temperature monitoring sensors located at different points of the chassis. The temperature listed is likely the max temperature out of all the ACPI sensors in the laptop, and by looking at the GPU temps, there is probably an ACPI sensor near the GPU.

    Any questions?

Wherever the ACPI region is, HDD is a bit high and CPU cores should be stressed with Prime95 to check how the fan keeps the CPU's temp down.
    GPU's temp is surprisingly good.~
I wish I had one in my hands to make it a proper testing! :D

The CPU temperature is good is because the heat sink is closer to the fans. And the GPU heat sink is further away.

hey all... im a bit confused, wonder if any of you could help me out

how do i configure the hotkeys? i have no idea how to do this..

what is indeed the quiet mode and normal mode? is it only relevant for the fan? it only activates or disables this component? Battery last way longer right but probably it will overheat no?

by the way i read somewhere that there is a way to minimize the use of the components, specially the graphics card, how do i really do this? thankx

Supposedly it doesn't. The fan'll just kick back into high gear if it's under stress.

I got my Sager NP8660 today and boy am I impressed. This laptop is amazing. Good news so far. The laptop had zero dead/stuck/owned pixels, and the hard drive is running at 52C while the GPU is running at 49C idle. I hope everyone who receives their laptops tomorrow is as amazed as I am!!

I just alt-tabbed out to take a screenshot of the readings. I'll try that next time.

Very, very nice. It was 78 degrees in my house yesterday, which probably affected my readings; it's ~55 right now.

I'm 39 minutes away from walking out of the UPS facility with my brand new one of a kind( OK, not) NP8660. sucky than i got to drive 24.5 minutes to home before I cane unbox it. but still beats waiting all day for the UPS guy, who usually doesn't get to my neighborhood till at least after 5:00 PM.

No but it takes longer to travel further, so it's conceivable that someone after you in the line will receive theirs first because they're closer...

So... if you're in Afghanistan... You could've been the first in line and probably still wait until after most people have received them.

yea, but they're run through the laptop's chassis, usually up along the sides of the screen: that seems like something that would be done when the laptop is initially being assembled at the factory so the reseller wouldn't have to worry about taking the chassis apart.... anyone?

that's how it looks like in the service manual, but I have no clue whether the antenas should be there or not if you didn't buy a wireless card.
