no offense but why can't some laptop-madness (like me) receive m860tu first? so that we can have a full review in a hour or 2? God is unfair. at least I have DSLR for it.
-
-
u ordered one nirvana?
-
-
Im sorry i have to go to my friends house but its the last time ill c him b4 god knows when >< college...
-
-
Assuming you're notebook is working like it should, in what order did you install the drivers? I realize this is a total n00b question, but I want to make sure I do it right when mine arrives (I'll be installing XP on mine btw)
-
If some positive infos comes out about build quality, you get my order the next day!
Can we get the RivaTuner Hardware monitor graph with RPM and temps? -
youdontneedtoknow Notebook Evangelist
looking from the manuel the lower right hand side is near the hard drive, and I don't see anything in the lower right hand corner... except the 3G module.
-
-
not necessarily the corner but lower right hand side is the only particular warm spot im noticing
-
-
71ºC with only 3DMark2006... I'm guessing this will be running as hot as the M15x under true stress (e.g. playing crysis).
-
If I remember correctly, there was one user who had an m15x, but bought an m860tu for his brother. He should do a head 2 head comparsion!!!
forgot his name though -
if possible, can pictures be taken with some reference objects next to it so we can get a feel for it's dimensions? like a pop can, or something
-
-
As for the left right side getting noticeably warm-the hard drive is in that area. I wonder if Chungwa has the 320GB 7200RPM or the 500GB 5400RPM hard drive... -
-
youdontneedtoknow Notebook Evangelist
why are they cooler?
-
-
I thought Quadros blew in games.
-
71 isn't as bad as I was afraid. Would be nice to know after few 3dmark06 loops or an hour of gaming though.
If the noise isn't loud with max fan speed that is great. -
-
And they run cooler! Sager/Clevo, please include the FX1700M, FX2700M and FX3700M. These are all new!

71C is pretty high, but what is the average temperature without running graphic intensive programs?
-
-
Justin, can you try Crysis on it?please?
-
youdontneedtoknow Notebook Evangelist
nice would be better if you can take some videos with your cell phone too!
-
As far as the max temp goes, you have no idea how much those fans might kick in when you start to put it under load

The right side of the touch pad is the main area were I noticed some warmth.
Here are some quick High Res pics.....Attached Files:

71ºC on 3dMark06 is not indicative of what temperature the GPU really runs.
71ºC on 3DMark alone is high. We will only know when we have true GPU testing and stressing (this is, Furmark, ATItools and, most important, playing a game like crysis). -
The only issue right now seems to be the temperature, particularly on the lower right hand side of the notebook, under the palm rest.
According to the manual, this is where the hard drive is located. Maybe Chungwa got the 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, and this is producing all of the heat?
By the way, the notebook doesn't look so thick. The thickness is rather reasonable for a notebook of its size and the performance it has to offer. -
thanks for the pics chunghwa and justin!!

Beat me to that, yeah that thing looks amazing.

We have the 320GB also and notice some warmth on the right side of the touchpad. Will try to get some Crysis temps later.
-
how's the build quality? does it seem like a strong laptop, or is it a bit creaky/squeaky in places?
-
It looks like the only issue is the temperature. And the hard drive is responsible. Isn't the 320GB 7200RPM a Seagate?
It looks like I'll be getting the 320GB 5400RPM, if that makes a difference.
As for the build quality, I hope the keyboard doesn't have too much flex. I saw a Youtube video of the NP2096, and there was a lot of flex on the left-hand side of the keyboard... -
That power brick seems a little chunky, at least its no 9262 brick lol.

The 320GB is a Seagate. I think overall it is a solid build. No creaks in the chassis for flexing in the keyboard. (that i have been able to notice so far). The chassis is firm.
-
As for the hard drive-Justin, what would you recommend getting?
(do you happen to have any Western-Digital branded hardrives? They run cooler and a lot better than Seagate.) -
somehow I can tell it's super solid by just looking at the pics.

Great pics Justin!
How do you rate the keyboard? I was curious how it would compare to the Lenovo ones (T61 for example)? -
How are the touchpad buttons.. as per the pics, the buttons are just extension of the touchpad itself.. how is the feel?
-
Justin, maybe you should open your own thread and center all your info there?
-
I must admit, I have not ordered one yet because I am waiting for reviews and such..... so far so good! i'm really looking forward to full temp/noise specs and other performance tests.
...maybe some negative stuff? -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
They keyboard feels firm. I wish it had a num pad. I like how the shortcut and power buttons still maintain the brushed aluminum design. They integrate well into the chassis. A couple of posters in the past asked on the display, it is the LPL0000 on the WSXGA+.
Sorry I dont have the time to switch around hard drives on the model. I will try to do some more testing over the weekend and first of next week and will post a new thread with a formal review.
